Yusei is that type of character that you always root for when he's fighting, (or in this case playing card games on motorcycles).

The only reason I never realised Yusei was such a good waifu was because I always saw him as an angel. An extremely badass, caring and dependable angel.
I see him like a literal savior, and I am a hundred thousand percent able to see why everyone loves him in the anime. Seriously, he solved every single problem Aki ever had in her life in the spent of two seasons. Why do you think she, more than anything, wants to know what he feels and how he thinks? The fact that I saw him as a savior prevented me from seeing him as a waifu, but now that someone showed me why he is one, he is my waifu.

If you played Yugioh Tag Force 4 & 5 and did Yusei's route you know this to be true. In the Dark Signer Arc alone, Yusei constantly frets over getting you involved and even Dark Signer Kalin turns into a jealous girlfriend just seeing Yusei concern himself with your well being and wants to kill you just to hurt Yusei.

YuGiOh will always and forever be a harem anime to me. Especially the first three series and to a lesser extent Zexal.
Yusei eventually became my favorite of the main Yugioh protagonists. I watch it subbed and I know what you mean. At first, he seemed like this kind of scary, stoic guy. But you can see soon how much he is all about helping people and his little friend family. Look how far he went to get through to Aki and Kiryu. He would be your bro for life, and probably the sweetest boyfriend you could ask for who would also probably fix your car when it has problems or any other appliance. Plus, it is just so adorable how excited and focused he can get into programming and fixing the D-Wheels. And best bromance, Bruno, anyone?

He looks stoic and the kind of guy who would be uncomfortable showing himself vulnerable and being emotional but you soon discover he isn't at all and not afraid to be honest about how much he cares for others. I think this mix of a very stoic and strong character paired with being very comfortable with showing his emotions unlike Jack Atlas is what makes him such a great character. He's badass but he's also compassionate and sensitive and doesn't look weak and naive consequently. So a very mature guy in every way pretty much.

You're actually right though, Yusei is loyal to a fault. I kinda wish they kept Aki as the very obvious top in this relationship. I just rewatched their first duel, and the way that Yusei keeps sacrificing Stardust Dragon to negate Black Rose Dragon's effect to destroy herself and everything on the field is just SO romantic. But it's also sad because it reminds me that this is what Yusei WANTED to do for Kiryu but was unable to do because Kiryu was just too far gone.

Dub Yusei isn’t angry...? He was an dark edgy cool guy that weirdly used baby low level cards (for the synchros) and talked about friendship and kindness all the time.
Honestly yeah he had more in common with like twilight sparkle or tea rather then the angry boys like first ninja joey(he had a hothead)

Yes, Yusei is a badass and gets things done, but he's so much more too. He's sensitive, compassionate, shy (though he hides it behind a stoic mask), and just... Such a waifu.
I headcanon that Yusei is actually a really good cook because he helped Martha out a lot in the kitchen as a kid and learned from a master. The way he takes care of Luna and Leo - he's such a *mom*. Not a dad, a mom. And when they're in danger, just as dangerous as a mama dragon to boot. No one gets between him and his kids. No one. (Still get chills about him driving his D-wheel through the door, up the stairs, and through another door to charge right in and rescue Luna when she was trapped by a little boy ghost in the house he and his sister had died in. He just was like, "Door? What door?" and used his D-wheel as a battering ram to minimize the time necessary to save *his daughter*. Doesn't matter she's not his biologically, doesn't matter he's just a few years older the twins parents are never around, they claim him as family, *they are HIS*.)
And I went on a bit of a tangent there. But yeah, I totally agree his a waifu, but he's also a super awesome "momma dragon" type for the kids he "adopts". Not even Crow holds a candle to that mothering instinct, and he's a mama hen

I always found sub Yusei to be pretty bland and I really appreciate the sarcasm and wit they gave dub Yusei.
A neat little character moment for him is when team Unicorn completely outsmarts him and he’s left with literally no options and no way out. All his opponent has to do is end his turn and Yusei will lose because he already decked out. Sub Yusei just congratulates his opponent on a sound strategy and accepts his defeat. His opponent feels like a coward for using underhanded tactics against such a good hearted guy, and attacks Yusei so he can win by taking out his life points instead of decking out. Yusei seizes the opportunity, raises his monster’s attack with an effect, and wins. But the whole thing is an accident, Yusei should have lost.
Dub Yusei on the other hand, baits his opponent into attacking by pissing him off and then beats him. He refuses to give up and literally taunts his opponent into messing up and handing him the duel. I much prefer that outcome.
One bit of character I liked that the dub gave him is a fear of insects it’s made him more human and they went with in I think the duel against Roman he said can you please summon something with 2 legs

Me: I see no difference here, he was a blushing mess of a man who kick a** in the english version, and his still a blushing mess of a man who can kick a** in the games and the Japanese version of the anime to. And we love him!😂❤
One thing i can say about Yusei he always had confidence in his dueling being very hard to read and always staying calm in any situations always thinking five steps ahead of his opponents or anything very tactical duelist combos where amazing and a great strategist he is my top favorite main character for these reasons love'em and will watch him duel any day
