    This is one of the few bands where I know the words to nearly every single song from every single album! My parents purchased every album released ( a little unusual for African-Americans in the 1960's. My Dad also ADORED Bob Dylan) and you are basically listening to the soundtrack to my childhood. Welcome!

    “Abbey Road is the greatest album from the greatest band of all time!” This is exactly how I’ve felt since the first time I played this album on my dad’s stereo when I was a youngster. I feel the same now and will feel the same until and after I die. Great reaction! Loved seeing your face react to it all. Fabulous! And, yes, Golden Slumbers, Carry that Weight and The End make for the best finale.

    I was a young 16 years old when Abbey Road came out. We were all blown away by it.... especially the absolute perfection of side 2. To this very day, I am still in love with it. It never gets old. It is amazing how the Beatles ended their time together with such a masterpiece..... and that final verse of The End embodies everything the Beatles were all about. Love. I'm so glad you listened to it. Your smile from start to end tells the whole story.

    Astonishing, towering genius. Abbey Road, the Beatles' last album and perhaps the most iconic of all their iconic masterpieces, the Beatles are at the top of their game. And, oh, the musicianship of the band is breathtaking: George Harrison's lead guitar soloing is astonishingly fluent, fluid, at turns jazzy, majestic, and then fiery and raw, with Harrison's now iconic cascading arpeggios, and narrative driven solos; Ringo decimates naysayers with his inventive and suddenly funk-friendly, sophisticated and melodic (!) fills and grooves; Lennon and McCartney are thunder and lightning in everything from proto-funk rock (Come Together) Latin-rock-funk-metal (I Want You, She's So Heavy), and of course, its the "Quiet Beatle" George Harrison who steals the show with his incandescent Something and Here Comes the Sun. The sophistication and yet immediately addictive vocal harmonies, iconic guitar playing, grooving drums: the Beatles define their sound, their era, and they set the template for future conceptual masterpiece, for geniuses of succeeding generations, from Prince to Beyoncé, the team Dre and Eminem to Mary Blige, and so many more in their conceptual album masterpieces. That is the measure of their influence and the brilliance of the Beatles, demonstrated well...here, there, and everywhere on this chef-d'oeuvre, ABBEY ROAD.
    And compliments, MANY compliments, to Cimdy Style for HER sense of smart style, strikingly sensitive and insightful reviews, and compelling presence. She's all of THAT: Smart. Compelling. Thought-provoking. Gorgeous.
    Cimdy Style: Now THERE'S a commentator worthy of the smart, thought-provoking, and gorgeous album, Abbey Road.

      @@AryanKulkarni31 : Yes, indeed.However Let It Be, with the exception of the added-on song I, Me, Mine and the album version of the song Let It Be (featuring the iconic "screaming guitar" solo take by George Harrison ,which is actually less technical than his alternative solo on the single but much more raw and emotional) was actually recorded BEFORE the sessions for Abbey Road.
      Both Albums show the Beatles at the top of their form as musicians, playing a very bluesy, often both jazzy and gospel-influenced, mix of road-house, proto-funk, soul baladry and Latin rock styles.

    • @renechateaubriand2645
      @renechateaubriand2645 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@betsyab121 : Indeed, although I do like the raw, bluesy, jam-session based feel of the whole of Let It Be. Abbey Road also features a funk, groove-tight sound, with a startlingly fluid, Harrison-dominating guitar and Ringo's most accomplished, groove-oriented playing.
      But that doesn't diminish the gospel-inflected power of the song Let It Be, or say, the terrific blues wail of Harrison's guitar solos on his sophisticated I Me Mine, which could have fit easily into Abbey Road (the album version of I Me Mine is actually the last song the Beatles ever recorded together; likewise, George recorded this famed "screaming"lead guitar solo on the album version of Let It Be after his version for the single. It is the last guitar solo that Harrison recorded for the Beatles as a unified band).
      And songs like I've Got A Feeling, Get Back, and One after 909, all songs written out of jam sessions, have a terrific raw, roadhouse sound and are incredible funky, groovy numbers. It's classic late-era Beatles stuff.

      You could hunt around and find the most popular songs. Or look at the Beatles discography and listen to them one after the other. Like we did when we were 16 years old and be taken on this musical journey over seven years. Jumping around you loose the musical development, the increasing sophistication, the change in style and the their entire expansion. (At the beginning of course the songs were simpler, but knowing roughly where they ended you can keep your ear out for the milestones they were passing to get there.

    After the disaster that was the 'Get Back' sessions, Paul was still keen to put out another album and wanted George Martin to produce it. George's main stipulation was that he gets to produce it the way he did in the old days and ALL 4 guys be involved, especially John. Although John did miss out on some of the studio time because of a car wreck (the man can't drive, folks), he did show up and with some enthusiasm. Side 2 of the album is definitely a testimony to Martin's production mastery. John is often disparaged for calling Side 2 'junk'. Well...it actually was. It was a conglomeration of unfinished bits that were laying around which were patched together to be something.It was also the last message to Beatles' fans. Although no one was consciously thinking that this was the last album ever, it turned out to be not only a magnificent end to an album but a fitting goodbye message.
    Thanks for listening to that with me.

      Yeah, pretty junk. John had a habit of talking himself into corners. Like when he said Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles. Ringo was the right drummer for the the band . Think if they'd a Keith Moon, or Ginger Baker, super egos who upstage at every chance. And Ringo was learning & developing as they learned & developed.

      Indeed, indeed. Even that most eclectic of near-contemporary icons, the late guitar genius and songwriter Prince, works with the Beatles template: creative control, multicultural/multiracial eclecticism, strikingly inventive melodicism and experimental, often avant-garde musical juxtapositions, and of course, the iconoclastic rebellion against established norms, gender, class, and race hierarchies. And certainly musically, the influence is direct: never mind Prince's shout-outs to the Beatles (Raspberry Beret, Pop Life, his iconic guitar solo tribute to George on George's While My Guitar Gently Weeps, etc.), you can trace Prince's mix of raw intensity and majestic, octave-climbing, narrative-driven guitar solo on Purple Rain almost directly to George Harrison's similarly conceptualized, iconic guitar solo on the album version of Let It Be.
      In fact, if you think about it, you can find the Beatles' enduring influence in artists ranging from the team of Eminem and Dre (a contemporary Lennon and McCartney in temperament, approach, and areas of genius) to Beyoncé's and certainly Mary Blige's concept pieces, let alone the classic rock-era's masterpieces by Marvin Gaye (What's Goin' On), Stevie Wonder (Inner Visions, Songs In the Key of Life), and so on, ever thus.
      Unimaginably great , iconic, era-defining works by the Beatles have given rise to and directly and indirectly influenced succeeding generations of iconic artists in different genres. And this perhaps is the most poignant and powerful evidence of the Beatles greatness: they defined the 1960s but they continue forever to shape the Ages.

    Great fun reaction Comfy. This was the last side of the last Lp they recorded together. Pretty good way to go out, right? No deep lyrics here, just straight forward stuff except for Because is John's song with him, Paul and George harmonizing together, we never got to hear enough of that, they were great together. The medley of three songs starting with John's Mean Mr. Mustard and ending with Paul's She Came In Thru The Bathroom Window were incomplete songs that they had and they just stitched them together, it's Genius! Sun King the three of them again and the language at the end is Cod-Spanish, Italian and nonsense Portuguese with a little English. Digest that, pretty cool stuff! Take care and have a wonderful day 💕

    Loved your reaction! My dad was a classically trained jazz musician and had a musical instrument repair shop back in the '60's. He "hated" rock music, until one of his trumpet students gave him this album to listen to. He brought it into the living room just to have us (my brother, sister, mom and I) also listen to it. I was eleven years old at the time, and it's one of my clearest memories. From "Come Together" to "Her Majesty" at the end, my dad kept saying, "Wow. I can't believe this. This is pure genius!" My mom, who was an East German refugee, also loved it, especially the song "Because," which, coincidentally, was inspired by Beethoven, her favorite composer. From that point on, my dad started buying Beatles albums and albums by other rock bands. He even started wearing his hair long, lol. To this day, I have to stop everything I'm doing whenever a Beatles song is playing. Thanks for this video!

    Wow. Honestly I can't believe you played the 2nd side without saying a word. It was mesmerizing for me. The Beatles... their body of work..... Epic. Can't be put into words and communicate it fully. And Ringo.... what you said is so true. And I wasn't aware of that until recently I've seen videos of drummers singing Ringo's praises
    and then demonstrating what he's doing and why he stands alone in many ways for what he contributes to the
    band. And I could see it and listen to it and it made complete sense. And I'm in my 60's (66). My first record album that I purchased is .... Meet the Beatles. Came out in January, 1964. I was 9 years old... and I still have it.
    Anyway, I was watching and listening to this reaction video and I heard myself say silently... Well you have to
    subscribe to this. It doesn't get any better than this. So I did. Beautiful. Great smile. Great energy. Thanks, Dave

      I'm so glad that you listened to the whole 'side' now, the 'medley' is even more effective when preceded by George's 'Here Comes The Sun' lifting your heart with hope, with John's gentle tranquilizing 'Because', providing the perfect mood setting for Paul's tender 'You Never Give Me Your Money' before the journey begins! The 'medley' alone is great of course, but just sayin'.....glad you heard it 'right' (and with 'Her Majesty' NOT interrupting the transition from 'Mean Mr. Mustard' and 'Polythene Pam' ) ! haha

    I still get chills when I hear the end of this medley. The first time I heard it I was a little girl. My dad would play the Beatles in the car when we went on trips. When this album came out, it was sad as it was the end of an era and also so beautiful at the end. I love the Abbey Road video with them playing on the rooftop in London. When I hear side 2 of Abbey Road this happens to me too ----> 😊 Welcome to the "Abbey Road Side 2" club Cimdy. Glad you heard it the 1969 way! 😁 And your praise of Ringo! You get it! LOL! Ringo's unique drumming style really made that unique Beatles sound, along with the other guys of course. Here are two videos for you to enjoy (when you have time), of two young drummers comparing Ringo's drumming style to that of 'conventional' drumming styles. When watching one can really see the differences as they will play Ringo's drumming, then a conventional style during certain Beatles songs so you can hear the difference. They will play a few songs you're not familiar with so I suggest listening to (or better do reactions to) at least these 3 songs first: "Strawberry Fields Forever", "She Loves You", "Ticket To Ride". The last two there are early Beatles so this will given two "oldies" to add to your growing library. Yep, the planets seemed to aligned when the Beatles did their thing! And it was only a few months after this album release they broke up. It was a shock when they did, and looking back we see this album, particularly Side 2, as their last good jam session together despite the squabbling and arguments that wore them down. Anyway, awesome reaction, happy the vinyl video worked out and I hope your video stays up. Cheers! Here are the Ringo videos:

      That's surprising. Klaus Voorman who played bass on all the Beatles' first solo albums except McCartney said that Ringo wasn't a technical drummer but adequate enough to get the job done. Voorman was also a friend of John Lennon and designed the cover of Revolver. While Quincy Jones used a session drummer to replace Ringo on an album thinking Ringo drumming wasn't any good.

    • @GrouchyMarx
      @GrouchyMarx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Raider577 I hear what you mean about Ringo. He was not a Neil Peart or John Bonham style of drummer. But for some reason George Martin wanted Best replaced, and perhaps the other three too. Perhaps because Ringo wasn't a technical or conventional drummer, and Martin was possibly looking for a unique style. In the drama, Birth of the Beatles (with Pete Best as 'technical advisor'), the scene where Pete is being fired Pete yells at Epstein that even Ringo knows he (Pete) was a better drummer. But Raider, I can't imagine any other style of drumming on these immortal Beatles songs than Ringo's, as the two young drummers demonstrate in the video links. I recently discovered Voorman designed the Revolver cover. He was with George Harrison in the Concert for Bangladesh too. ✌️😎

      @@GrouchyMarx Yes you're probably right.
      I saw Voorman talk about Ringo on a TV programme made a few years ago on the Sky Arts channel here in England. The programme was called 'My Beatles Black Album' where Conductor Charles Hazlewood creates a unique and personal compilation album formed of solo tracks made by John, Paul, George and Ringo following The Beatles' breakup in 1970.
