@@bradley6676 I have to admit that I cheated a bit there. The original vocal track is impossible to isolate (for now), because they're singing in unison. What I used is the vocal track that Paul recorded along with the piano track, which you can hear in the video if you raise the volume all the way up. So, you could say it is there in the original album, just buried very low in the piano track.
That was not something that was innate in his ability. He developed this skill over years of work. His early bass playing was just very workmanlike. He grew into an amazing craftsman over the years. My main point is to not diminish the work it took to arise at this amazing level of skill (says this professional musician).
All of them are genius, no offense but most of beatles best songs are John song with a litte help from his friends and Paul song with a little help from his friends
Initially I thought this wasn't going to include the harmonies that Paul does in these songs. But when his voice appeared in the second verse of Come Together, I just about freaked out. God bless.
Not true obviously😂 His background vocals singled out in Oh Darling do sound very much like how Wings would sound without John's and George's adding to the harmony. The Beatles where a marvelous collective and never reached the same level as artists seperately. McCartney knew that and tried to keep them working together as long as possible, even though the others did no longer wanted to.
I Want You really shows not only how great his groove, note choices and inflection are, but also how good his tone is on the instrument. IIRC most of this album was his Rick bass. Killing.
I love that someone took the time and effort to do this. But strange to have many of his backup parts but some of his most important lead vocals! Still very cool and way better than most separated tracks! EDIT: Ah I just saw the comment about why you had to leave out some lead vocals
I'm going to state the obvious here and say music is Paul McCartneys love language. Look how much effort he puts into his band mates' songs. He loved them so much. He just didn't know how to show it other ways.
I couldn't upload the video with the vocals, because then they would have been blocked. I left a link to the file including the vocals in the description.
@@ajhhc I’m glad you didn’t put up the lead vocals, from the angle that we can listen to the weird and wonderful and whacky things that Paul did on Abbey Road! After all, his voice was amazing back then.

Absolutely marvelous and revelatory! The bass on "Something" is its own song yet perfectly adds life to what otherwise might have sounded a bit dirge-like (brilliant though it is)--and wow, what he's doing to "I Want You (She's So Heavy)," oh my. It's a sexy song as it is, but the bass during the instrumental bridge somehow makes it just a touch more, well, dirty, in the best sense. Honestly what's most surprising to me is how strong a pianist he is. He's absolutely tearing the keys apart with ass-kicking syncopation in "Oh Darlin'," and then goes into boppy territory with "Octopus's Garden." Thank you SO much for this!
As far as I know, the only source claiming it was John, is Geoff Emerick, and although I respect the guy, he has a very faulty memory. Every other source points to Paul playing the electric piano.
The 2019 Deluxe Edition credits Paul as playing the Fender Rhodes. Geoff Emerick's book has been known for having inaccuracies, and in an interview with Music Radar, he credited John for doing the backing vocals in Come Together. I'm sorry, but I can't rely on the memory of a guy who claims that this 0:49 is the voice of John Lennon. Like I said, I respect him a lot, but it seems like he has his memories of those days very mixed up, and I can't blame him, there were a lot of overdubbing sessions during those days. I couldn't find any precise quote of Lewisohn, though, so if you can point me in that direction, I would appreciate it.
It can all be done with apps/AI. Push button easy. Not to discredit the author, they may very well have run it through their gear to clean it up as well.
I suppose it’s contested information, but producer Geoff Emerick claim’s John Lennon actually playing the piano part, that Paul came up with, on Come Together: “Paul came up with the electric piano lick,” Geoff Emerick relates, “that pretty well defines 'Come Together.' John even made a point of playing the piano line, once he'd looked over Paul's shoulder and learned the part. That would have never happened in the old days: both men knew that Paul was the better piano player, and he normally would be manning the keyboards even if they were recording a Lennon song...’ “

Such a melodic bassist. Why do more bands and/or bassists not do more of this? Or am I missing something?

Does it really “be like” that? Amazing, truly amazing.

Paul has so much buried brilliance in this album. The piano lick in Octopus's Garden is wonderfully charming.
