Did you put the bar studs in backwards? It looked like you put the flat end in the clutch half first. Shouldn't it be the tapered side of the stud going it first so it's tapered shoulder mates into the tapered recess of the stud holes? And that would mean the short end left sticking out might not be long enough. I need someone to clarify for me please because the manual only specified torque and just says install them but doesn't show which end threads in the clutch half. Should the long or short end of the stud thread onto the clutch half?

The tapered side of the bar studs faces out, flat side sits against the case.

@@newenglandpine8660 really? Why would the stud holes be tapered to match the taper of the one side of the studs then? It just seems wrong but I appreciate your response. And then the bar would be going up against a taper instead of a flat that would be even with the case the other way around.

@@kkc3009 the bar actually fits on the larger diameter of the stud, so the tapers help guide the slot of the bar onto the stud

@@newenglandpine8660thank you for your helpful responses. Assembling a g660. Cases went fine but the manual and video tutorials were not clear on which end of the stud threads in the case. I would've done it backwards then and had a fun time getting the stud out. I figured the taper should go to the saw case and flat shoulder with longer stud end would be for the bar to sit on. Thank you for saving me a disaster!
