Japan is very solo (pun intended) traveler friendly, I have been quite a few times and actually the best time I had was when I went on my own, people generally leave you alone so you can just soak up the atmosphere in peace. One of the other good things about going on your own is Japan rewards just randomly seeing what's down an alley or getting off at a random train station, if you haven't got to worry about schedules and keeping everyone in the group happy, you can have some amazing experiences. If you are a solo female traveler though, you do need to be conscious that you might have "problems" not always, but you do need to keep your wits about you.

I learned this from a fellow stranger i met at a ferry too. When heating up food that’s packed in plastic, make a small tear for air to escape and reduce the risk of your food blowing up inside the microwave.

I agree I like your idea about a vending machine ferry as long as the food is fresh and good you can choose your own time also my first "professionally" trained job with fixing vending machines 30 years ago and they haven't changed all that much! I have to say the quality and the variety differences in vending foods in your culture is much greater than ours. Will from Indiana USA.
I think you must really like travelling by ferry, and eating from vending machines, if you make this long journey, and after just a few hours, return to Tokyo by shinkansen ! For me, watching from the comfort of my home, it was very interesting. But myself, I would definitely prefer to fly to Fukuoka.

Great trip. Another Ferry vending machine trip, and still great. Maybe why people taking this ferry to Tokushima is because it can carry more capacity, and most of them going to Tokushima for holiday.

Your room is still bigger than the stateroom on the BC ferries Queen of Prince Rupert ( now long since retired and rotting in Fiji service). I would really like to do a ferry run in Japan, but the time it takes gives me pause…relaxing option though.

By the way, you should always put your meal package on a paper plate and put it in the microwave, because it'll catch anything that may spill while it's heating. Also, it heats more evenly. I learned that one years ago.

I like how Japanese vending machines have the little basket to catch the items you are vending and lower them gently to the collection area. The vending machines in the US just let your stuff plummet to its death, causing a loud thud and usually some damage to whatever you just bought. I’d imagine that, given the thoughtfulness of the Japanese design, they probably also put a micro switch on the basket that is triggered when an item drops into it, ensuring that the item your purchased is actually given to you, where as in the US, it’s quite common to buy something and have it fail to make it out of the vending machine, leaving you without the item you purchased and often no way to get it.

クルマの場合ですが、四国一周ドライブ旅行の帰りに利用しました。東京～九州はコスパ微妙ですね。東京から大阪まで行って、大阪南港～北九州がコスパ良いです。瀬戸内海を行くので揺れないし。しかし自販機がかなりバージョンアップしていて驚きました。
