@@RetroGameCorps hi, so i have this problem with my rg351p. For some reason i cant save my state on psp. And that’s because the save state slot is always full. do you know how i can fix this problem?
I finally took the leap and got a RG351P instead of waiting and been really enjoying 351Elec for past week. To find out that there is a new version out after I thought it had all finished is so awesome. Thank you so much for your videos. You've really got me hooked on retro handhelds now and not regretting RG351P at all. Brilliant little device. :-)

This sounds like a really great update. That auto save load function is exactly what I've been wanting. Now, this may sound crazy, but I'd really like an eReader app for these devices, so I could read my ePub files on my handheld. Thanks for the video!

@@RetroGameCorps That's excellent to hear! I was already impressed with AnberPorts, but it seems like Port Master has an even bigger catalog of ports now!
If you're updating, especially on the M/P, just make sure you've got a few gigs of space left on your unit. My 256GB card was full to the brim and I had to start moving PSX/PSP titles off before it would work. Oh and if it doesn't work it deletes the update file. So if you're not sure you've got the space, keep a copy of the file on your system.
OMG I have been looking for the name of that game at 17:33 - Hydra C. L. . It was on an oddball handheld I just got a deal on. Great content as always, even the stuff you don't mean to inform us on. Thanks for being a great and important member of this community!

With this 351ELEC I got now almost a plug and play retro console :) I've also followed your video about the personas and the recommended device for each of them. Awesome work!
a little thank you from france, these portable consoles are incredible, I did not know of the existence of these machines, it was thanks to the youtube algorithm that I came across these portable consoles by chance, I have everything immediately bought a 351p and I was not disappointed with the very good work thank you to you
I just watched this video and went to configure PortMaster. Checked the list and everything noted there, including Moonlight, is now working! Can't wait to try that out.
Just did this update after not having used 351ELEC on my 351m for a long time. I really like how you showed using the custom borders and the filters/shaders. There were many smaller things like those examples that i just never bothered with in ArkOS, but are super easy to experiment with here. Just started messing with Links Awakening DX and the borders really are a fun touch to liven up the unused screen. Made me enjoy this device even more than I already did. Thanks for the video!
Dang. Thoughtful and excellent guide as always. I really appreciate those custom bezels that you can use. That seems fun if there's a specific set of games that a person would play very often.

Hi and thank you for your video. I made a fresh install of the firmware and it looks great! I would add to your video/tutorial these important points: - when you flash the SD card, can happen that there is no Letter assigned to the partition "Game": you have to do it manually on a window 8/10 - when you try to connect to the RG with samba (like //RG351P) for the first time, you have to insert login and password ("root"+"emuelec") - At the first boot I don't have your theme (I am on 351M), but only a full black version. - Some systems like cps1/cps2/cps2 were removed and you have to add the files into MAME/fbn folder and enable the automatic collection.
I had an issue where I wanted to update 351ELEC, so I inserted the file as described in the update folder via the SD card reader, but the device did not kick off the update process. Instead, I transfer the same file to the same folder via FTP, restarted it, and it worked! No idea why, but glad it got resolved.
Thanks for these vids, keep them coming please with each new version! Edit #1: The Samba share feature is great! Edit #2: I love the SGB and GBC colorizations that retroarch features for Gameboy games!
One interesting and awesome fact: The RG351V with 351elec is able to run the lcd at 50p and 60p which is crucial for amiga and c64 stutterfree emulation (50 Hz). The only other handheld i had so far that can do this was the OpenPandora in 2009. I just ordered 2 RG351MP and will look if that one can do this too.
@@DijaVlogsGames can but openelec doesnt. if you set the screen refresh rate to 50 hz it does and switches 60 p games to 60. must be done in the bootup config. But somehow i find my RG 351V cooler, the portrait format makes the screen seem bigger although its the same size.
I'm torn between which OS should I use when my RG351P arrives. I would definitely recommend 351ELEC for the RG351P, since ArkOS stopped development on it. You could always go in and make adjustments to RetroArch on the fly until you get your optimal settings dialed in, and then exit into EmulationStation and make those final, persistent changes. Overrides still work with 351ELEC, but you may run into a conflict with the EmulationStation configs, so you may have to experiment a bit to see what sticks.
@@RetroGameCorps I have a question: How configurable is 351ELEC when it comes to things like screen orientation (Horizon, Vertical) and most important to me, Controls. Emulators like GBC/GBA assign B and A to B and A buttons but prefer to use Y and B. Also like to mimic/copy the function of the shoulder buttons to the other face buttons.
Thanks to Russ' videos, over the past year I've tried both ArkOS and 351Elec, but even after this latest version of 351Elec, which is very good btw, I still just about prefer ArkOS. With ArkOS I like the fact that you can easily add and remove games to favourites using the Y button and you can shut down the device with power and R3 pushed together. There doesn't seem to be any equivelants on 351Elec. Also, ArkOS still boots up several seconds faster that 351Elec. The killer function that I do like about 351Elec is that you can enable autosave states and then when you load a game you are given the option to start a new game or go right back in where you left off. NB. This is for Retroarch only, so doesn't work on PSP or NDS. However, I have discovered that with ArkOS you can also enable auto save state and auto load state within Retroarch and it works well. So for the time being, I'm sticking with ArkOS, but I'll be keeping my eye out for any future developments!
@@Alon456 You configure your controls in Retroarch, the same as ArkOS^^ Also you can play arcade games and stuff vertically. I have not dabbled with it myself since I have a V but I guarantee you someone in the 351Elec discord will point you in the right direction!
FTP Update Options: If you have FTP configured, just connect to FTP and drop the appropriate update file in the roms/update folder. When it's done copying, disconnect FTP, and reboot device. It'll detect, update, and restart a couple of times before it's finally done. Viola! Updated :) Also for those using an MP, your beta build may already include updates via internet. (mine did) Just set update channel to "Release" and it'll pull the latest release version for the update. Thanks for the update on 351Elec. I would never have known the devs released an update because I never remember to check... but I do keep an eye on your channel, so I appreciate it!
@@Static_artist90 Mine rebooted twice and that was it. Did you make sure you have the correct update file for your device model? I have had a device repeatedly reboot when I accidentally used the wrong firmware on it. If that doesn't work you can backup your roms and saves folders (wherever you store those) and do a fresh install, then put your roms and saves back.
Russ you've just caused an argument in my house, she heard me say "ooh a new 351elec" and she assumed that I was buying yet another handheld. She's already bought me a Powkiddy A13 because she saw me watching your review and she liked the look of it. She's concerned I have too many now. I have seven, only six of which are directly because of your recommendations. Anyway she's relieved that it's just a CFW update. Probably shouldn't tell her about the RGB10 max 2 that is currently sat on the tarmac somewhere in Shenzhen with my address on it
I'm the most casual of casual gamers, so I don't really bother with all the options. But love the way you can get as nerdy as you want with it, if that's your thing.
Love this firmware so much! I'll go out on a limb and promise that if 352elec ever comes out, I'm buying that handheld. The software problems kept me from getting it.
Please try the Pixellate shader. Nobody uses it because the name makes it sound like it does the exact opposite of what you want, but it actually produces a really clean picture for slight resolution mismatches
I think crazy hedgehog already had samba, but it didn't allow configuration of the name. I really like that feature so I don't have to keep ejecting my SD card since I'm afraid of it breaking.
Well this process was more frustrating than I thought, first I was getting an error while flashing the firmware on the SD card and then I got an "Unsupported games file system" error while putting my games on the card because it was in FAT32 format and not exFAT but it works now
For RG351MP upgrades, I realized it only worked if I placed the update file into the TF2 card's games/update folder. It didn't work if I put it on TF1 for some reason.
Omg changing from the stock emu station to this new software makes GBA games actually run in fast forward. It's been over a year of trying to make that happen!
Hey Russ, I really like your videos and I love your voice, and I really like to leave them in the background while I'm doing something else as well. However, I have to say that I don't like your intro music. It's very abrasive and I'd love it if you would consider changing it to something more calming to match the tone of the video, and so that I can binge watch these videos to hear someone passionate about retro handhelds without having to skip the intro all the time. Even if you don't consider my suggestion, I'd like to thank you for your work.
Hi Matt, good question. I've seen a few lists floating around but I'm not sure about one specific to 351ELEC and its emulators. I would ask in the 351ELEC discord and see if there's anything.
@@RetroGameCorps Great! Thank you for the response! I'll check with the Discord to see if there is a compiled list and if members can also add to the list (in case Elec351 users have already tested some games on their own). I look forward to more of your retro game content! It is always informative and useful! 😄
THANK YOU. Your library of retro console reviews, has helped me decide on getting the MP. Because of your guides (both written and video), I've somehow gotten my MP up and running. Yesterday I finally figured out how to get PS1 games playable. Now I need to figure out the PSP... Is my mp ok with the operating system and games one one SD card? So far it seems fine. I've been trying to scrape for boxart and every attempt ends with an error screen saying the servers are busy?? And say "hello" to Chicken for me!!!
16:33 we can see that you have the media folder there. However, on the video in which you show us how to use the Skraper on the PC instead of via de handheld directly, there is a part where you tell us to delete the "media". This makes the Skraper create two folders "images" and "videos". SHould or shouldn't we have the "media" folder with the other two folders inside?
For 351ELEC (or any other EmulationStation-based OS) you can do either way. It won't really matter, since the gamelist.xml file will tell EmulationStation where to look for the images and videos.
@@RetroGameCorps One more thing: I see that when you inserted the first SD card after flashing the image you also inserted the second SD card before turning the console on for the first time. On AmberELEC's website, it tells us to leave the second slot empty first, than turn it on again with the SD card in it. Does it really make a difference?
"Step 4: Initialize Put your MicroSD card into slot 1 of your retro device. If your device has a second SD slot, please leave it empty during initialization. AmberELEC should create your games partition and reboot. It’s normal for this process to take a minute or two. After setting up for the first time, subsequent boots will be faster."
"(Optional) Step 5: Second SD If you’re using a system that supports a second SD card and you want to use a second SD card for your games, now is the time to set it up. Format the card as ExFAT or ext4. Don’t put anything on the card yet. Turn your console off, put the game SD card in the second slot, and turn it back on. During bootup, AmberELEC will create the folder structure for your second SD card. Now you can transfer games to and from your second SD card using your preferred method."
Awesome video, one question: All my CPS1, CPS2, AND CPS3 games are gone. I read on the release notes that we should use the mame/fbn folder for these. I tried that, but now my games won't run, they also won't show up if i enable CPS1 and CPS2 in automatic collections (CPS3 Is not showing up as an option there).
I figured it out, all your games need to be scrapped first for their systems to show up in automatic collections. I recommend copying all your CPS games to the fbneo (for some reason MAME has trouble running CPS games) folder, then scrape them and then you can activate the CPS systems in automatic collections. Note: this means that they will show up in CPS sections and also in the Fire Burn Neo section. Once i figured all CPS and NEO GEO games were using the FBNeo emulator i just moved all my roms (NEO GEO and CPS's) to the fbneo folder, this means all those games will be in the fire burn neo section and playable from there. If you still want them to show up separately by arcade console, then you can go to automatic collections and turn on the desired arcade machines. In my case i have all my arcade games in just two sections: Fire burn neo (CPS 1/2/3 and Neo Geo games) and MAME (i left here the ones that FBneo couldn't run properly).
Welp, I was dead set on ARKOS for my RG351p and then this comes out, I'll try this one first when it arrives today as I'm a beginner in this whole retro handheld deal

Great! Btw, what’s the rom name of the first game seen from this video? 00:08
More of this console please! 351p rules!
Yeah, finally a new update of 351ELEC. Time for a little testing 😁
Hope you enjoy it!
Great job on this one buddy.
FTP Update Options: If you have FTP configured, just connect to FTP and drop the appropriate update file in the roms/update folder. When it's done copying, disconnect FTP, and reboot device. It'll detect, update, and restart a couple of times before it's finally done. Viola! Updated :)
Also for those using an MP, your beta build may already include updates via internet. (mine did) Just set update channel to "Release" and it'll pull the latest release version for the update.
Thanks for the update on 351Elec. I would never have known the devs released an update because I never remember to check... but I do keep an eye on your channel, so I appreciate it!
How many times did it reboot for you? My device keeps rebooting and updating. It’s done it more than 10 times
Probably shouldn't tell her about the RGB10 max 2 that is currently sat on the tarmac somewhere in Shenzhen with my address on it
😆
I'm the most casual of casual gamers, so I don't really bother with all the options. But love the way you can get as nerdy as you want with it, if that's your thing.
It'd be nice if these updates improve game performance a little. Waiting for these next generation handheld is a paaaaain.
When it will be available? I'm freaking die inside waiting for the nex gen
@Marco I think we'll hear something by the end of this week, or early next week.
@@RetroGameCorps oh that's a GREAT news, thanks a lot
Dude, thanks for this! I didn't even see this video until today. Now wit this update I can finally run Ocarina of Time on my 351V at full speed!
Amazing update, will update shortly!!! 🎉🤩
Pixellate is very good if you wanna stretch GB/C.
I typically use RGA scaling for this
I think crazy hedgehog already had samba, but it didn't allow configuration of the name. I really like that feature so I don't have to keep ejecting my SD card since I'm afraid of it breaking.
Good to know, thanks! I hadn't noticed it previously.
The download from their website keeps failing for me. Did this video overload them with traffic?
This is the only reason I switched knowing that it was still being worked on. Super thankful to the devs.
They're an awesome team!
Its actually really cool that Team Elec are still working on this despite the chipset being limited.
They've made some great progress on this one!
Love the Channel Master Chief!
Thanks Pete!
Yes! Just in time for me getting my 351v in.
Nice!
You should do a top 10 playlist of your favorite games for different consoles.
Well this process was more frustrating than I thought, first I was getting an error while flashing the firmware on the SD card and then I got an "Unsupported games file system" error while putting my games on the card because it was in FAT32 format and not exFAT but it works now
Brilliant video as ever
For RG351MP upgrades, I realized it only worked if I placed the update file into the TF2 card's games/update folder. It didn't work if I put it on TF1 for some reason.
you have saved me and my entire lineage with this comment, may this technique be passed down for generations.
My screen flickers up and down slightly with this OS. Not sure where I went wrong. The stock firmware doesn't flicker.
Omg changing from the stock emu station to this new software makes GBA games actually run in fast forward. It's been over a year of trying to make that happen!
Ooh special 1 looks like the old classic Gameboy. Very nice.
I prefer the "centered" images with the black bars, too! They are subtle, crisp and don't use the whole space of the screen.
Fantastic guide, best on youtube
Hey Russ, I really like your videos and I love your voice, and I really like to leave them in the background while I'm doing something else as well.
However, I have to say that I don't like your intro music. It's very abrasive and I'd love it if you would consider changing it to something more calming to match the tone of the video, and so that I can binge watch these videos to hear someone passionate about retro handhelds without having to skip the intro all the time.
Even if you don't consider my suggestion, I'd like to thank you for your work.
Hi, I appreciate the feedback. I’m working with someone right now to update the intro, for more fitting music.
You are the best!
My pleasure!
I am wondering is there some sort of compatibility list for which N64 games run well on Elec351 and the recommended N64 cores for each?
Hi Matt, good question. I've seen a few lists floating around but I'm not sure about one specific to 351ELEC and its emulators. I would ask in the 351ELEC discord and see if there's anything.
@@RetroGameCorps Great! Thank you for the response! I'll check with the Discord to see if there is a compiled list and if members can also add to the list (in case Elec351 users have already tested some games on their own).
I look forward to more of your retro game content! It is always informative and useful! 😄
Cheers Russ, thanks for the video.
You bet!
Anbernic needs to hire this team to build for their 552 device.
Is there an advantage to running 2 SD cards on rg351v? Performance wise?
No performance advantage, just easier if you want to separate your system files and the game files
@@RetroGameCorps Thanks! Your guides have been a huge help!
"Step 4: Initialize
Put your MicroSD card into slot 1 of your retro device. If your device has a second SD slot, please leave it empty during initialization. AmberELEC should create your games partition and reboot. It’s normal for this process to take a minute or two. After setting up for the first time, subsequent boots will be faster."
"(Optional) Step 5: Second SD
If you’re using a system that supports a second SD card and you want to use a second SD card for your games, now is the time to set it up.
Would love to see you get your hands on an analogue pocket Russ!
In my case i have all my arcade games in just two sections: Fire burn neo (CPS 1/2/3 and Neo Geo games) and MAME (i left here the ones that FBneo couldn't run properly).
another great Vid Russ....thanks my man. say hi to Chiken for us :)
Can you use this software with a MacBook 💻?
Yes, you can set this up with MacOS no problem. Just use Balena Etcher to flash the image to your SD card and you're ready to go.
@@RetroGameCorps thanks so much I’m thinking about ordering my first handheld now that I recently bought a computer
note.. on the V.. the update folder in my case was on the second SD card.. not the first.
They keep making this system better despite that ram hurdle.
Thank you for this video! I'm currently running ArchOS on the V. Would it be worth me running this instead do you think?
Welp, I was dead set on ARKOS for my RG351p and then this comes out, I'll try this one first when it arrives today as I'm a beginner in this whole retro handheld deal
I have a new RG351V, however it seems they have changed the display. Any chance of an update to support the revised hardware?
What BGMs are you using for your menu? It almost sounds like a version of the ps2 start up music.
Amazing video as always, loving all the content you put out!
I'm using this drone song, which was made by a 351ELEC member: aaronmealey.bandcamp.com/track/sitting-waiting
If you can please make a quick video that shows in great detail how to set the n64 controls up on this device?
