Not so long ago, people really thought that space is nothing, but according to current knowledge, that is far from the truth. You could say that there cannot be "nothing" if it is not something. Emptiness is fullness.
True. There are quantum fields they give birth to virtual particles that go in and out of existence.😊
@@chargersina I just learned about this the other day in the fascinating old book 'The Tao of Physics'. Mindblowing. Gives you a conceptual way of sensing how everything really is connected and such.
Incredible knowledge.
Its sad to say that this is mostly forgotten knowledge, fantastic lectures, the things I would do to see him lecturing in real life.... exaclty nothing I will do ;)

Blessing with sad tears? Such a tragedy to hear this 😃 😊 😀
This concept was enlightening. Thank you.
I find you incredibly insightful. Respectfully, personally, I disagree with some of those examples. You can have light without dark, visa versa. And, the head of a coin wouldn't disappear if the tail side was filed off. In that case, the tail would have had a makeover, and we'd call it "the currency formally known as tails! Bioom! Same game, different name
Regarding the coin, see, maybe you're thinking only so far as filing away the image from the tail side and saying "There's no tail side, but look, the head side is still there." I think Alan is saying it like this: file the tail side down, image and all, so that, say, only half of the coin, half of the material is left. Well, you still have two sides, tail and head (regardless of the tail image being gone now), similar to how he says that if you reduce the magnet, cut it in half, you still have both the - and + pole. Now, file the coin further so only 25% of its original width remains, you still have two sides, what we call tail and head. File it down to 10%, 5%, 1%, you still have two sides, including the original tail side. The only way to completely get rid of the tail side is to obliterate the coin completely, which also simultaneously does away with the head side. So, you can't get rid of the tail side without also getting rid of the head side at the same time. As long as one exists, the other also mutually exists with it.
Regarding light without dark, I see what you're saying. But remember Alan is talking about how we know something by its contrast, and also he's just using these examples-like the "finger pointing to the moon" where if you get caught up on the finger, you're missing the point (pun partially intended)-to help us grasp or at least get a sense of a concept that's not easily grasped, not taught in our culture and understanding of subtler things. Sure, you could imagine an environment where all is light and it's totally pervasive from all angles and at all points so that there is no darkness or shadow anywhere. But if you existed in such an environment and never knew any different, then you wouldn't call the light "light", you probably wouldn't call it anything or even think about it, it would just be 'what is' and you'd take it for granted in the utmost sense. In that sense, though we know objectively from the outside looking in on this thought experiment that there certainly is light, there would be no "light" to the observer on the inside, no concept of "light", because that observer doesn't also know "dark" to provide a contrast to say, "Ohh, there's something different than what I've always known, and I'll call this new other thing 'dark' and this thing I've always known but never really thought of…'light'". The same goes for a vice versa thought experiment with an environment of total darkness with no light.

In a nutshell wtf is he saying ?
He is saying NOTHING. That everything came out of NOTHING. Everything is, in reality, NOTHING.
Could also mean the reverse when you remove nothing and put in something @@felixmoyoedonmi
That ALL is ONE: no front without back, no pleasure without pain, no light without darkness... the opposites... they are ONE. All is one. There is no half of anything, all is connected...is all ONE through and through. 💖✨
