Yes he was. No one ever said it better than him. I wonder if his consummate clarity ultimately did him in, so to speak.
On 'trying' ... I read somewhere (I think it was one of these crank Zen sources)-
"Do not try. Do! Do, or not do, but don't try."
(This is everyones' call now for something like "I'll try not to forget that!")

So then why as a civilization do spend so much time & effort beating out the natural childlike spontaneity from our children. What is the point of this, other than the temporary convenience it may allow a parent? I wish he was around to answer this question
That would be Henry Ford and rockefeller. Once the governmental school system was introduced, the architect stopped teaching and passing on his skills to his son, the mother stopped teaching her daughter. It is a sad situation. The only time I see this today is on the farm. Driving tractors on the fields at 6. Even then health and safety get involved.
