Crown Victoria - The Best 4.6L Exhaust You'll (Probably) Hear

  • Here's a much higher quality video of my Crown Victoria's exhaust setup. Professionally welded now with no leaks (besides that nasty one on the driver's side manifold flange). I'm biased, of course, but this is the best exhaust I've heard on a 4.6L 2V. Just the right amount of deep and character without sounding like a shrill tin can. Not hollow, not raspy, not toneless, just the proper sound (almost stock-sounding, just amplified). The recording doesn't quite capture the depth. Exhaust is subjective though, this is the right type for those who like their exhaust tone raw but refined. Cabin-wise, it doesn't drone too much, it's just loud. You'll get some when accelerating, but it's pleasent at cruising speeds. It drones a good number though at 50-60 MPH in 4th gear depending on the weather (lower temperatures drone at higher speeds). I also went the extra mile and put sound deadening in my car so YMMV.
    Exhaust setup goes as follows:
    - Factory exhaust manifold & converter pipes
    - Factory 2" H-Pipe (standard in P71 models)
    - Totalflow 2102 10" Straight-through Glasspack Mufflers (These are essentially Dynomax Race Bullet knockoffs)
    - Pipes welded to GM A-Body 2.5" Tailpipes (Flowmaster 15802)
    - DC Sports Resonated Exhaust Tips (EX-1013)
    - Rudimentarily constructed by me, professionally welded and supported by a local muffler shop
I think it costed about $400 total, not counting the tools to do it. ~$175 for the tailpipes, ~$40 for the mufflers, ~$50 for the tips, and $120 for the shop's end of work.
Welp, that's that. Uh, buy my merch, like and subscribe, and be sure to check out today's sponsor, your mom's address. /s
I don't know what else to add here. I filmed this on my Canon SL2 and then did some fancy stuff in Adobe Premiere because I can do that.
The dislike count as of September 27, 2024 is 229.

Nice! Messing around with our cars is one of life’s joys! No two are the same and everyone has an opinion.
I’ve had 2 CVPI’s. ‘98 and ‘06. Loved ‘em both. Miss ‘em both. I went really simple with Thrush Welded mufflers on both. Nice sound over stock but not very loud. Just a little bump in volume and rumble.
Moved on to a 2013 Charger Pursuit 5.7. Did more on this one with x-pipe-back setup with Magnaflow mufflers, rear resonator delete and Magnaflow quad tips. Not really loud, but damn sexy sounding. Something I could live with every day.
The Chargers are obviously more modern, faster and handle way better. But there’s only one CROWN VIC!

I've got a 99' P71 that used to be very aggressive. Its shifting was downright NASTY. First to second gear hits so hard it barks or spins every time. Then i started messing with the exhaust.. For anyone new doing exhaust mods on one of these.. im speaking from experience and keep in mind im poor lol
The common rear muffler delete is pretty awesome. You keep your cats and H-pipe but remove everything at or after the flanges that hook up the rear exhaust piping. Its free, loud (but not get a ticket loud), you lose some weight, and doesnt affect the tune much. You lose some lower RPM onions. However, higher rpm felt better (Both barely noticable)
Removing any more requires playing with the the computer/tune. After my muffler delete, i lost the H-pipe driving up out of a field and onto the highway. I bottomed out hard and snapped everything off after the downstream catalytic converters. This totally MURDERED my car's performance. You'd punch it and make alot of noise but it wouldnt even peel out from a stop anymore.
The 4.6 Triton relies alot on exhaust scavenging. If you isolate the banks, it wont breathe like it should. If you cant afford a tune, dont go any further up than the flanges after the H-pipe.

    • @enzdude
      @enzdude  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I originally started out with just the muffler delete dumped under the car. It sounded mean, but was ungodly loud in the cabin. I installed those 10" glass packs and that refined the sound a bit. Tried some side-exits and that sounded cool but was still pretty loud on the inside. Eventually I settled for the tailpipes all the way back with those resonated tips and that cleared almost all the interior resonance up. It took some trial and effort to get it right to my liking, and I ended up returning some mufflers along the journey (I tried to see if Vibrant Resonators would help, but they killed everything _but_ the drone).
