When Night Summer said "Sorry Rick, but your opinion means very little to me" It was actually referencing a line in season 1 when Rick told summer the same thing. It really hints toward where summer's deep seeded resentment of Rick comes from. He doesn't value her opinion or thoughts and she's tired of him looking down on her.
I love how summer actually was a threat to Rick. Like, she actually succeeded and the only reason Rick won in the end is because they killed them selves out of boredom.

Fun Fact as to why this feels like an early season episode: it kind of is this idea was pitched a long time ago but couldn't fit and was eventually put in a "shoebox" as the writers called it which was passed season to season it only managed to fit into season 6, but the idea was thought of a while ago

I think they reference more the series Severence, which is about people who doesn´t want to deal with a 9 to 5 job, so they create another personality to deal with that and when they do that there is the: Outtie (the one who lives outside the office) and the Innie (the one who lives only inside the office). Or at least that's how I saw the reference in this episode.
That part with the dishes and Rick being made to eat it scared the crap out of me. The rest of it cracked me up. Fun to see Summer getting more to do! Edit: since you mentioned it in your last video of Rick and Morty I have to say I'm surprised there were people who disliked this episode. Not saying they should like it but everyone I've seen and read about has said they loved it. Some even consider this the Emmy contender. I loved it too!!
This episode is closer to the show Severance. I haven't seen it but it looks really good, it's an AppleTV scifi show where people have a job that requires them separate their work and their nonwork selves. They manipulate their memories where they walk in work then walk right back out, time having passed. The show goes into what they do during their work hours. A single person only working off of one set of memories tends to form a personality that is different than the other. The nonwork people seem to start to feel unfulfilled in their life meanwhile the work versions of themselves start to feel trapped in this hellish nightmare where they never get to leave their office building.
Haven’t see Us, but this reminds me to Severance, which if you haven’t seen yet is totally recommended. Same premise, but is with a Work person instead of a Sleep person. 👌🏼👌🏼 is an amazing show

The previous episode made me think of how family Beth is intimidated by the option she never chose which she can visibly see, so she’d always feel that feeling of regret. I think Rick saw that and made Beth have a relationship with herself so she’d get to know herself and get past it while being happy that she’s still with her family. The end between jerry was just an unexpected add on which also helped the viewers understand why Beth stays with jerry.
Don't think I'd ever heard of it before now either. Although, with Rick and Morty bringing it up they're probably going to weaponize the fanbase again like they did for that Mulan sauce at McDonalds. I'd never heard of that stuff before either. (I'm not sure if I was even aware of that movie's existence while it was in theaters. I think it had looked to me like an out of nowhere direct to VHS release.) And this show got people to go nuts demanding that the sauce be brought back. But then counterpoint to that is how the comeback of that sauce was just a limited time promotion at a very very small selection of locations, and then the commotion died down after the fans got their chance to try the stuff and find that it wasn't to their taste. Expect a PR stunt to give this choco taco thing one last hurrah before it really goes away.

You know I love how Spencer Grammer (Summer) did the raspy voice as Night Summer, part of me would have love to see that in the Nick show she was in, The Barbarian and The Troll with her raspy voice. And to think all of this could have been avoided if Rick wasn’t so petty and that he rinse the dishes Honestly when I saw the promo of this episode, I thought it’d be Rick’s subconscious doing the massive chaos because whenever Rick is at his most chaotic is when he’s not fully aware, like the time he made all those neutrino bombs while drunk or that whole episode he did a SAW parody while blackout drunk. Having Summer being the big bad of the episode is a nice twist.
A couple things that were shown but I didn't understand... 1, Beth counting sheep on a cell phone, when cell phone screens are known to keep your brain awake 2, if the plates are indestructible, how did the laser write on them?
In Season 3 Episode 2, Summer says "Carpe Diem", and says she's "too busy carping all those diems"' (clearly misinterpreting the original phrase as "carp a diem"), of course carpe diem is latin for seize the day, which is what she attempts to do here as Night Summer

I mean he actually does have several friends he's made along the way. Problem is that he can't see them. Like Rick j-19 zeta 7. They were great friends, j-19 even came back to stand in the rain just to say hey, that's honestly beautiful. The problem is Jerry doesn't have the same kind of autonomy the rest of them have. Beth can text space Beth and get flown anywhere in the galaxy. We already know Morty goes off on his own adventures sometimes. Jerry is just the only one who keeps making friends that he doesn't have the capacity to see again, since he makes them from around the multiverse and he doesn't have a space car. He bonded a bit at the end with that alien he made that app with. They both had "no matches", and saved each other. Jerry actually has a bunch of connections which could blossom, if he only had the opportunity to cultivate them

Episode 3 (if they got rid of the reference to incest baby) would be my number 1 so far this season. I didn't think the shock humor was the best part of it either, I thought it worked amazingly as a character progression for Beth and Jerry.
This sesason is 4/4 so far of quality episodes, seems Justin, Dan and whole team have found the formula again. Also love you guys but hearing "Nope was a bit mid" was disappointing, easily Peele's most layered n complex film so far - not to mention visually stunning.
I had to pause the episode for a solid like 30 seconds to yell at Rick after that scene where he goes off on a side quest just to bring back "110% indestructible dishes". He flew to a forbidden zone with no clue as to what he was doing to call in a favor from a creature who wanted to kill him just to fly back with a safe full of plates Bruh you so fuqqin petty!!! XDDD I had to pause the episode just to loose my mind for a minute, that was so hilarious yet infuriating The programming into their subconscious has become self-aware, literally biological code has achieved sentience, his own body and those of his own family are forming their own demands, his solution is to bring back plates they can't break BRUH!!!! XDDDD *PETTY*
Don't worry this plot was way different than the movie Us I haven't seen Nope yet but I'd like to. I loved Get Out and enjoyed Us even though I didn't think it was as good. I'm worried with that incest baby plot thread hanging loose out there they are going to eventually have an episode about it again to wrap it up. Best thing honestly would be to just abandon it and move on. I hope they address the portals again soon

Probably my favorite episode of the season yet! I never even heard of the Choco Taco until news came out that it was being discontinued.
Jordan Peele's US movie is precisely what the plot of this episode reminded me of. It's got a very similar theme.
