    I have to say a MASSIVE thank you to Syd and Macky, I have been watching your fantastic content for some time. This past weekend I undertook my longest and hardest ride to date (The Whole Enchilada) All of your tips, tricks, training and mentality really helped me prepare and feel strong the entire time! I felt the best climbing and descending I have all season. I found myself riding down and up stuff that I never would have thought. The motto of the day was "Eating wins races, even if this is just a marathon to survive." Thank you for all the fantastic content!

    Gah! Love you guys. Your positivity is inspiring (not toxic) and you pull the best out of every race and circumstance. I love getting to cheer for you guys every week on TH-cam. I think how y’all always take a realistic contextual look at your results is something a lot of us can learn from. I usually suffer from unrealistic expectations. Anyway, thanks again!

    I fought for years to have the Tour of the White Mtns move the weekend or at the day of on this weekend so as not to conflict w/ the RAR. It still sucks that two of the oldest ongoing races in the whole country both in the 4 corners region have to go head to head. I'll try to show up next year to give Syd's dad a race. : )

    Really nice track! And hot!!! The contrasts to what we are training in right now is huge. Just finnished a 4 hour ride in the dark and about 4 degrees celsius with light rain. We use lenz battery socks to keep warm and lights to see anything. In about 3 weeks we will have a ton of snow until april. We have to zwift that time of the year or ride fatbike on the frozen lakes and oceans. And of course hours and hours of cross country skiing. Good for vo2max 😁

    That sucks, I am so sorry! How do you guys keep going after a misfortune like that? I did a race last Saturday and when I was just 4kms away from the finish, ahead of 2nd by about 3 minutes, I got a nasty puncture that I just couldn't fix. After messing around with it I just had to crawl into the finish on a flat tire and I just missed the podium by 40 seconds. I was devastated and I still feel like crap about it. How do you guys pull through that, mentally?

    • @sydandmacky
      @sydandmacky  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What a bummer! That sucks! First of all, it's okay to be disappointed. I was definitely disappointed at this race.
      There are 2 things you should try to do:
      1. During the race, have short term memory loss. I know you weren't able to fix it in this case, but in general, once you've fixed a problem, you want to forget about it so it doesn't affect the rest of your race.
      2. Learn what you can from it and then forget it. I don't know if any of these apply to your situation, but here are examples: maybe you need to practice fixing a flat, maybe you need to run more puncture-resistant tires, maybe you need to practice line choice, maybe you just got unlucky. Whatever it is, learn what you can so you don't make the same mistake again and then stop thinking about it.
      Remember that every race is a new opportunity and past races don't mean anything for the next event! Good luck!

      @@sydandmacky Aww thank you for such a great answer! I was going full send down some rough trails... on a gravel bike. I didn't carry a tube, that was dumb.
