17:57 into the video "F'ing ridiculous!" So true and the video doesn't show just how difficult that one section is. Nice job!

Haha thanks, man. Sometimes there are just no words to describe the hole you're in...

Thank you for some "real person" footage of the race, most of the content I see is pro's and its hard to get a feel for the course. Not sure why the guy was so made at the Jeep. As someone who rides MTB and a Jeep, I'm happy to share the trail either way. Looking forward to Breck Epic '24!

Hey Dennis! Thanks for the feedback. I’m pleased that the POV I could provide helped give a valuable perspective. It’s an epic race and one of the hardest things I’ve done. But the pleasure/pain is why we do it and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. The climb we were on when the Jeep came through was one of the most brutal. Choosing your line was critical to keeping momentum and moving forward. The driver was up our ass. Sure, he wasn’t being intentionally aggressive but just him dabbing the throttle to move forward felt like a sucker punch. The guy overreacted but I get why. When you’re nudging HR max, tired and hyper focused, small things can become unmanageable and that’s all I think this was. I actually edited out quite a bit more of this as I didn’t think it was a fair reflection on my fellow rider. Good luck for the race man!

Thanks Eric! Crazy day out on the bike. Great memories. Will you be back in 2024 for more?

@gsmossa I have three buckles in four attempts in the last 5 years. This year was not my year. I broke a bone in my hand on day 1. I rode four stages with a busted hand and my front suspension was not working properly from day 2 on. 🤪 I had to pull the plug. Next year for sure! How about yourself? Coming back again?

@@ericthered.147 I’d love to come back again but next year is a bit short notice. It’s a big trip (and expensive coming from UK) so with a young family, I need to make it work for everyone. I will be back one day though! Beautiful place and a truly remarkable race. Great job on all your buckles and especially for soldiering on with a broken hand and dodgy bike! Can’t win em all… 👊🏼

That rock descent looked absolutely horrible, top shift sir!

Mate it was relentless and intense. If it had been at all wet - utter mayhem. It lasted for like 20 minutes. Shelled but unscathed!

my wife was watching this with me and mentioned while you were "hike a biking" that maybe talking wasn't such a good idea, then you mentioned it :) fair play doing that as an asthmatic, side note, resolution was low 360p well after an hour from upload, may just be youtube upscaling hasn't kicked in yet but thought i'd mention it

Thanks for watching! I think the 4k version just took a while from TH-cam. Asthma is very manageable so no disadvantage for me, personally, but I know more severe asthmatics have to be more selective. Chatting to camera on the tough sections whilst hiking or riding needed to be done I thought so I could capture the intensity. All the best!
