- In this video, I show you how to Easily Add A Raspberry Pi To The ATGames Legends Ultimate Arcade machine this will also work with and android, PC or Odroid devices like the XU4 or N2.
AtGames is definitely stepping up when it comes to the Legends Ultimate arcade, They have added Bluetooth support to the control panel and it makes it easy than ever to mod the Legend cabinet using a Raspberry Pie running RetroPie.

I had a dream about ETA doing a video on this, it came true. Thank you!!!!
I don't even own this cabinet but I watched this whole show damn. I like his videos very professional my dude..
Thanks for the good explanation. Retro Ralph, cooltoy and these guys left out a lot of onions going over on how to do this. Ones again great job! Really appreciate it.👍🏽
I'd love to see this running thru bluetooth + HDMI on a PC with Big Box (MAME in particular) and fighting games on Steam, like SFV. Really love your stuff and hope to see more atgames coverage soon!
that is amazing, i just bought a pi.
This is awesome, I would probably just put in a mini pc and use big box with it.
Another Great Video! Thanks for the support!
Can the control panel be setup for 2 player?
yeah it can
Now this has me interested in these arcade units! Love your video's as always!!!
Lmao at the "I'm formatted...."
I always enjoy these vids, ETA - as someone asked earlier - ":Did you ever release the video where you installed the Pi inside the cabinet with the hdmi splitter. Thanks for all the content you provide."
How's the input lag?
@Terri Fenrich input lag when using Bluetooth for RetroPie? Sounds like you talking about the stock experience.
@Terri Fenrich " Controls actually feel better and more responsive than real arcade machines. " You might have been responding to the particular components being used. American arcade machines tend to favor different components than the ones being used by companies like ATGames who favor Japanese components and clones. It's simply not possible for a streaming game to have no input lag let alone be more responsive than dedicated hardware.
@Terri Fenrich check your local Sam's. Mine switched to "out of stock" in store on Black Friday (when it was showing in store before), so I bought the Wal-Mart version. Then I find out from my parents that they still had one in store today. I wasted an extra $100.
Edit: it was actually Thanksgiving when I checked and bought it online at Wal-Mart
This is great! Cant wait to see the updates
Did you ever release the video where you installed the Pi inside the cabinet with the hdmi splitter. Thanks for all the content you provide.
What about the two spinners, the trackball and player 2?
Cool toy has many great videos on all the updates and awesome capabilities on this machine. Was skeptical at first but definitely getting one now
How can the 2nd joystick work or the trackball and knobs for arcade games that use them within mame?
Apparently they can not be, based on feedback from Atgames when Pdubs on another channel asked. The Legends Pro works though in MAME, but no spinners.
Hi ETA Prime, I know this video was posted a while ago, but I was curious if the trackball and dial work automatically in Retropie for games like Missile Command, Marble Madness, and/or Arkanoid. I have a rollerball configured in my current retropie setup, but since this will be a new external control deck, just trying to figure that out! Thanks!!
I need on if these in my life asap!
Yeah, You and me both!
Really nice move. I very like these cabinets.
Starting to dig how versatile this system is. Hell of lot more than the Arcade1Up without having to do a bunch hardware upgrades.
Great vid thk u as always u rock happy holidays...
did you ever install it inside the cabinet
Very cool! Thanks for sharing this.
Need to test the input lag. Can’t be as good as a zero lag encoder hardwired.
Any follow up on how to hide the cables??
Still no new video about this product. :(
Oh no, this opens up so many possibilities.
“I’m formatted fat, the stick is formatted FAT32”
lol....I heard this and immediately thought "Don't worry - I'm formatting FAT too...." lol Love it!
Have you ever got to putting that pi inside? I'm considering doing the same so video would be dope
Dawid Hudziak Seconded
Does it work on the DE10-nano miSTer board and the Nvidia Shield?
Can you please do a follow up video on how to hide your cables?
YES PLEASE!!! @ETAPRIME
I've been out of the RetroPie loop for a bit this year... what theme is that on your RetroPie ETA? That looks perfect for an arcade setup.
Eta prime?? Did u ever make the video adding a PC?? I'm abt to buy one and need to know if a PC will work or if its worth it. Thank u
Thanks for the video, super informative as always. Could you do a similar video showing how to do this on the Gamer Legends Pro that you recent showcased on the channel?
Quick question, because I've canceled the Arcadenet account. Will this bypass the Arcadenet nonsense? Or should I just gut the entire cabinet, and replace everything with a proper PC, or something? Got hit with the five session limit thing, and it refused my log in, even after doing the forgot password deal. This is the second time, in just a month AtGames has hosed my account, and it's the last bloody time.
Great job.. please more support for this
Input lag? and how about 2nd player and scroll ball and turn knob?
I just ordered one and been converting my old optiplex 990 with an i7 and gtx 1060 for a big box experience I’m hoping I can get this to work with an hdmi switch and the cheap Bluetooth adapter I just got but the stock system and the ability to add roms is nice.
How do you get the spinner and trackball to work on the pie?
You still got more Atgames Legends videos coming?
Did you ever get around to adding the RetroPi inside your ALU? I just got the ALU 1.1 and was wondering if there was a clean way to avoid messing up the HDMI connection on the outside since its now separate from the control deck.
Does the legends arcade still allow the use of raspberry pi? Will it work with pi 5?
I just hooked my new pi5 30min ago. Works great but have to figure out the buttons for fighting games (street fighter, mk games, killer instinct).
If I had the money and they sold these in Canada. Would buy one.
Does it also support the spinners and trackball once paid over bluetooth?
I have a hacked xbox 360 (freestyle dash). Would this be able to work with this?
I can't find the follow up video with the interior install :( He mentioned a HDMI splitter but I'd like to know how to set it up internally. I'll be using a HTPC. Does anyone have a link to it or a link to someone else video?
Hi Sir, I just found your channel and big thanks for helping me set up LaunchBox/Retroarch on my *Samsung Tab S6* Question - I am trying to reduce the input lag when playing (SHMUP'S) using Mame/FBA. I cannot seem to get the *Run Ahead Mode* to work on Android. It keeps coming up (Failed to load). I followed your other video on Input Lag - Latency also not sure if this feature is even added to Retroarch Android. Any help with reducing the Input Lag - Latency would be appreciated. Cheers
I have the “AtGames Legends Pro” and was going to connect it to a PC running Hyperspin. I was told I needed an “I-Pac 2 Encoder”. Is this correct? or there an easier way than swapping boards? Thanks bro. Love the vids and watch plenty.
Do you have to setup the spinners and trackball?
What about the trackball and spinners? How do you configure those to work for games, or is it automatically configured?
Please do another emulation video for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6! I bought one because of your videos but I'm completely new to the Android scene
Can you setup the retropie to use the spinners and trackball? Can you theoretically connect two atgames arcade panels to use on one retropie? I want to get two of these machine and connect it to a single retropie/emulation station/MAME station to play 4 player games
So can you put a small form factor PC in this cabinet or even a PS3/PS4 and everything works? I like the fact that you can buy the whole cabinet that include everything, but being stuck with a rockwell chipset that has its own limitations is something that is holding me from getting this cabinet. You did mention you will try a pc with big box on this cabinet, did you end up trying it out?
what's the name of the image he's using? I really like that interface.
How do you add the second player ?
Would this firmware allow me to use the control deck for my Nintendo switch?
You could also theoretically add a PS4 or XBOX too
Does the second joystick work? If not this is useless!
It's in Beta, 2nd Joystick will be available for usage shortly.
PDubs Arcade Loft PDub with the help and support!! Representing the secret society well!!
I can't get my raspberry pi (running retropie to detect my Legends Ultimate control panel all of a sudden anymore? Any help with this would be awesome???
1:55 truth be told lol😂😂
Do you think its worth it to get at legends or get redroom arcade and use rasberry pi. Ive been debating for a while now.
So Im assuming it would also be possible to add a SFF or even full size desktop PC the same way?
So.. the spinners and trackball all transmit over the same bluetooth?
I have a RasberryPi 4, with Retropi on it, but rather than using the controller in bluetooth mode, I''m bypassed the AtGames asset, and just routed the USB, from the control panel, directly to the Pi 4. I have noticed, though, almost none of the Retropi's trackball, and spinner games have configurations setup for them to use the Legends Ultimate's trackball, or spinners. The very few games that do have some trackball, or spinner support, are not very sensitive, at all, and are unplayable. I have tried connecting a usb keyboard to the Pi4, but most of the games appear to be locked down, in such a way as to deny access to the game's configuration setup. Any thoughts? It's like the collection I have is meant for stick and button panels, only.
What controller is that your using for the pi ?
Would you by chance be doing a video on, A95X Max Plus Amlogic S922X? Or did I miss it somehow?
Do you have some video about USB controllers in plans?
Hi did you happen to put out video for add an HDMI thank you
can you test a Nvidia shield?
$449.99 at sam's club this saturday dec 14th
i WILL be getting this!!!
rster536821 that’s when I got mine too 🙌🏽
Having trouble getting joystick and buttons for player two to register in the name set up. Have you been able to get it to work? Can you make a video about it if you have?
But how do you configure the other side of the cabinet for 2nd Player?
Don't worry ETA, I'm formatted fat too.
Can you confirm is there any lag through the Bluetooth connection?
when will you be making a fallow-up to this video? replacing main-board w/ raspberry pi.
Day 7 asking for a video on DIG frontend for Android
Also pizza boy, it loos especially crazy amazing on OnePlus 7 pro
I tried this on the 1.1 and the raspberry pi doesn’t recognize the menu button. I had to map my y button as select. Is there a workaround?
Can you use a bitLCD with the raspberry pi on this?
I was able to connect the Pi to my Atgames cabinet but when I try to play a game all the buttons come up mixed up and I’m unable to access the retro arch menu. Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks.
8404249 I used a keyboard instead of a controller for my pi and I was able to get the buttons to work. I am using a pi 3b with a 256sd card (hyperpie). I had to change the buttons around for each system I had on the SD card.
Does this also work on the at gamer pro device ?
Have you tested the PC and the bluetooth connection yet? I am not able to connect my PC via bluetooth and want to run either launchbox or hyperspin roms loaded to my PC
What happend to the install Bliss tutorial video you said you were gonna make?
can we hook up the controls and screen to a sff pc?
Hey eta prime please may you test the Huawei nova 5t it's a mid range phone with the kirin 980. I love♥️ your videos but I wish that you could try huawei or honor phone.
If you ad a raspberry pi. To the arcade. Can you then play your games without being linked online
It will not detect my button on machine it says 1 game pad detected, which is the controller please help
T.C. EAKER same here!!! Any solution!!!! 😩
I need a Legends Ultimate RetroPie theme from Hursty69 to maintain the aesthetic
Which version of Pi would I need to be able to run PS3 emulation (at full speed if possible) as well as Dreamcast, PSP and PS2?
ps3? There is no way that would be possible, in my honest opinion.
I'm also formatted to fat 32 😝
I'd rather throw a optiplex in it with a fully loaded big box build
not getting prompt to install beta for bluetooth just got cab yesterday it updated to 3.0.18
Any way to get the trackball to work on the PI? I know you can set up a trackball usb is it possible to make it work Bluetooth?
Can we find only the control panel?
This^^
Hi, can you post a video on how to connect Raspberry Pi to the newest firmware on Legends Ultimate Arcade? I can't get the control panel to work with the Raspberry Pi.
Hi hope you have some idea of what is going on with my raspberry pi 3 B+. I connected the legends ultimate with the Bluetooth option from firmware 4.0 and I was able to use the ALU in the raspberry pi.
I did the button mapping and the buttons work as intended in the emulation front end but once I start any game all the configuration changes. For example button Z is now start button C is now select plus hot hey. Any ideas why this could be happening ?
I have problems with mapping as well.
I found a link with a solution but is in German. The guy that posted it says that is easy to follow with the pictures and he was able to fix the issue. www.retro-programming.de/retro-welt-2/hardware/raspberry-pi-als-emulator-retropie/retropie-controller-einrichten/#manuell I haven got the time since I’m on a trip and sadly can’t bring my legends ultimate :). You could try it and see if it works for you.
The link works I was able to fix 90% of the issue. I still have an issue with the mega drive configuration but I think I know how to fix it. Thank for all your help ETA prime well you didn’t do anything but still thanks.
I find the snes classic and the playstation classic are my favorite hack
can a pc run this, using controller through usb?
The ALU shows no signal when I connect the Raspberry Pi to the HDMI port. Other devices work fine in the port, so I know the port works. And the Raspberry Pi shows up on my TV via the HDMI. Any ideas how to fix this?
Can you show Killer Instinct using MAME?
Pi 3 does not run KI well at all.
Chris Legnon the cabinet can play k1 and k2 well when you add the rom to it.
Any videos of it running on this cab? I know you can add Mame ROMs, but yet to see anyone add games that need chd files. The only video I could find was running PC version of ki via steam.
