The Warning did a behind the scenes vid about meeting BM in Japan, collaborating and performing together on stage. They needed interpreters because English is 2nd language for the Warning and most BM members have very little english. To pull off a live show and a mv in a week or so is amazing.
BAND-MAID recorded their instruments first, and The Warning members recorded their instruments after when they visited Japan. BTW, Pau used same drum kit Akane used to record. The lyrics were finalized between BM and TW when they were together in Japan, and recorded vocals and chorus/gang-vocals together.
Not quite. When they arrived they had worked online together based on a kanami demo. After a bit of time hanging out the Warning went into Kanami's usual studio and she recorded them, the following day she did the same for bandmaid and the vocals on the third. Masterpiece of production, as usual she's very cooperative with the others in the creative process. Miku wrote the lyrics and sent them to the Warning and they were a bit shaken because they were well outside their comfort zone. But on arrival in Japan they talked it through and understood where she was coming from. Kanami has been producing all bandmaid's stuff for years now, except when she stepped aside for Mikey chan Einziger from Incubus for one track.
Both Dany and Kanami said that they'd like to do this again but this time The Warning inviting Band-Maid to Mexico to collaborate on a song. Fingers crossed.🤞
There is a good interview on Billboard with all 8 ladies about this song. As for the range, this is actually a little higher than the normal singing range of either singer, done at the direction of Kanami. She is the one that began the writing process and then they passed it back and forth before The Warning arrived in Japan and played 3 shows while in Japan, only one of which was with Band Maid, then traveled to Europe for the summer festivals including Wacken and Pol' and Rock. They did all come out on stage and do this song live at the end of their joint concert, unfortunately they have not released pro-shot recordings of that, Don't use any of the few fan cams as channels that did got copy right strikes.
The song peaks on an E5, which is pretty damn high if not sung in Falsetto (though not quite as high as Dany's F5 during HYCAD). But that F5 is a one-off where this song always returns to the E. And it seems to me as if they cut of some of the lower frequencies in the production to give it an even higher, piercing sound. But I don't have producer's ears. It just seems to me the F5 in HYCAD sounds fuller than her E5 in this song.
I don't know what they did on the OMV, but in their live performance, every single musician was playing, every single singer was singing, and Pau and the BM Drummer dualed for a few moments more!
An old Aussie drummer here drinking a few brews in Nth Qld and loving this incredible collaboration built on mutual respect, admiration and joy from 8 bonafide Rock Goddesses kicking arse, absolutely fcken epic 👍🍻
Loved this song! It staggered me how well the two bands blended together, especially the vocals between Saiki and Dany :) The one time they played it live together in Japan, all members of both bands were on stage playing, including both drummers (with both kits).
Was lucky enough to be at their joint concert in Tokyo in June where they live debuted this song Also caught the premiere of this video. Nice to get to read the lyrics on this one Really hoping that they release an official live video of this from that concert too!
Agree with your comments. The vocals are mixed hot. These bands are both fantastic especially live. Check Band-Maid Hate and The Warning Dust-to-Dust live at Teatro Metropolitan for your next moves. Interestingly, The Warning does a ton of songs with dual vocals and various vocal harmony configurations. Disciple is a good example--live at Teatro Metropolitan or Poland Rocks.
Even Dust to Dust is dual vocal. They harmonize towards the end of the verses, then Dani takes lead for the pre-chorus while Pau does the more complicated drumming. Then Pau takes back over for the chorus and the next verse.
Found you through your reaction to Jinjer's "Someone's Daughter" and this suggestion was top of the list. I've been a rabid fan of The Warning for about 5 years, and more recently have been exposed to Band Maid, as well as other Japanese Metal and Hard Rock groups. Already got my sub from Jinjer about an hour ago, but doing this brilliant collab will have me digging into your previous reactions more thoroughly. Rock on my brothers!
You guys a full of it! Full of great reactions and breakdowns. 😂 BTW...you are not the only ones who think the instruments were a bit back in the mix. Although I heard it in the beginning, but I really didn't care as the music and their energy grabbed me and I just was rocking with the ladies. And good news, in the PRS Japan interview, Dani and Kanami talk about a couple of collaboration pieces with the Warning. And while hinting Band-Maid will go to Mexico to do a concert, Dani challenged Kanami to come up with a new song in Spanish. So stay tuned. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
Yes, please, Hate? at Yokohama... Or Lollapalooza. Two of The Maids many great live performances. As for The Warning, I'm just discovering their music but I'm hooked now. Best part was these bands got to spend a few weeks together and they all genuinely adore each other, this will not be the last collaboration and I'm so excited!
Definitely not Lollapalooza. That video is awful in comparison. The camera guy has no clue what he’s doing, the sound is alright I guess. It was fine when it was all we had, but now that we have Yokohama, no reactor should ever go back to the Lolla recording
So TW and B-M met at a US festival in 2022 and said they should collaborate. They got that opportunity this year. They went to Japan and played three shows, one with Band-Maid. TW traveled to Japan two weeks early to write/compose/record with B-M and record a MV. They then played it together at their one concert together. In an interview on the PRS channel, Kanami and Dany said that more collaborations are in the future. Kanami wants B-M to come to Mexico and and Dany wants the collab to be in Spanish. Dany and Kanami play similar PRS guitars in the same color.
Because of the time constraints Kanami wrote the song and Miku wrote the lyrics in advance though The Warning was allowed to tweak it a little. Kanami chose to write the song in a higher register than Saki and Dany normally sing in, this forced them into a similar tonal range causing more of a voice doubling rather than the low and high harmonies that would have otherwise occurred. Kanami said she wanted to push both vocalists out of their comfort zones. Dany referred to Kanami as The Overseer, expressing they were allowed to play with the sound some, but Kanami had final say. They plan on trying this again in Mexico where Dany hopes to try doing a song in Spanish with Band Maid.
Kanami wrote the song, it’s maybe ” lightest and most simple” song she ever has wrote but there is still some challenge to others like always. This time it for the vocals, both singers sing different octave than usually..Love it 🔥❤️
Band-Maid and The Warning debuted the song live together on stage when The Warning was in Japan. The live was incredibly close to the video from what I've heard (and the rogue fan-cam footage shows)... But I agree with your comment about the vocals being a bit high in the mix compared to normal for both these bands.
Yes. the vocals are very up front in the mix. I am sure that is very intentional. This is a true colab in the way that it doesn't sound like either band, but yet you can recognize both in it. It is a blending of the two into something different. I love how everyone got a little showcase, without losing the momentum of the song.
I think the vocals were more prominent because of the powerful message of the song and both singers singing in a higher register than they normally sing and in a language that's not their native to either one. Saiki and Dani HAD to belt out that song to give it the impact they wanted.
When they debuted this song live in a Tokyo concert, everyone was playing their instruments together except for the section of the song where each took a brief solo. There was none of the muddiness you usually hear when the drums are not in perfect synch. Dany and Kanami meld well together taking turns playing lead flourishes over the main riff. Miku provides a steady rhythm for each of them as is what you usually see whenever there are three guitars in a band. Kanami is more of a shredder than Dany though Dany has shown in some TW songs that she can do it. With the bass, I think Ale and Misa compliment each other well despite their different styles. When you hear a bass slide in this, I think each of them is taking turns as it is something that is well within each of their wheelhouse. They might also be trading off on doing runs. I have never heard Ale slap, but she has studied many techniques that she has not used in TW songs. So, who knows? I know slapping is more of a trick than a skill as techniques go and it hurts your fingers when you do it until you get used to it. So, it may be a matter that Ale doesn't like doing it. She also doesn't like singing lead vocals, so it could well be a matter of preference. Akane and Pau are both highly skilled, competent drummers. You don't see either of their skills sets showcased here, only a hint of their range.
W I N !!!!! W I N !!!⚡🎀 I think we can just say, at their level, Band-Maid and The Warning are equal peers at the very top of the "Rock" pile. I’ve watched “Show Them” 50 times now and still haven’t been able to drop my eyes down to the lyrics.🤘😂 Thx, Raff & Kyle! I was just thinking: Band-Maid and The Warning, two very different bands, found something that would bring them together -- music! If only the people of the world could find something that would bring them together. I know... if peace and prosperity isn't enough, how about uniting for the very survival of our species! 🤔
This video screams "GIRL POWER!" I understand good collabs are hard as hell to do well. Band-Maid and The Warning NAILED IT!!! The fans of both bands want more collabs with the two. Perhaps the Maidiacs and The Warning Army can now join and form a "Two Nation Army". Band-Maid and The Warning may be the "Power Couple" in rock.
The mix of the vocals forward is very unusual for bandmaid. Kanami obviously made this choice consciously. Kanami also wrote the vocals just outside the comfort zone of the vocalists. That's very her - she likes challenging people and she said she likes this kind of vocal. I have a feeling they want rádio play on this.
"Hate?", and "Don't You Tell Me" from the same show. Don't forget the sub-titles! 😈 Re: the vocals over powering the instruments - that would have been deliberate, as they do tend to put the different members to the front when it's their turn to shine. Also, Akane is almost conitinually in the background driving and supporting whomever is in the front - while they, BANDMAID, do have all members doing solos - even Saiki who accompanied herself on the piano - there will be Akane slaying in the background, as can be heard in the above suggestions.
The only problem I have with the song is that it's not 20 minutes long. There is so much talent on that stage that there is not enough room. I love both of these bands.
Yo Mates. Melbourne here. BAND MAID FAN. IF you got time can you do BAND MAID Double. MANNER (MV) & Don’t you tell ME (Live) from THEIR Official Channel. Take your time. Even you don’t do it If me see Band Maid, definitely be here. Cheese & thanks for this SHOW THEM. Catch ya.

Great reaction. Love The Warning but Band Maid is the best band I have heard in nearly 30 years. They are legends in the making. Please do the official live video of Hate. There is another version out there (Lollapalooza), however it is not an official video so please support them by doing the official video. Rock on my Aussie brothers 🤘
Highly recommend Shambles by Band Maid and Automatic Sun by The Warning. 2 killer songs by 2 killer bands. Band Maid and The Warning doing Band Maid and The Warning things.
You can record 5 versions of the song and they would all work. Once like this one, then one each of Band Maid and The Warning. TW version would be almost like this one. From BM it would be with solos. Then one each with Danny or Seiki as guest vocalist
The Warning are always writing great stuff and not missed yet. Freeze The Fall are following that with their debut EP called Thrones, not a bad song imho and it is only the beginning. Daughters Of Witches is the one they want you to see 1st followed by Masquerade live 2024
I agree with you that the vocals sound alike. I listened a few times in my car, and the pronunciation was the only way I could tell who was singing. You should check out the interview with the bands on Billboard Japan. They talk a bit about writing and recording the song. It's on the regular Billboard site, but that version leaves out some parts of the conversation.
My friends: DarWin and The Warning...2 de las mejores Bandas del mundo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for the "production problem", it could be primarily initiated from BM producer...as you know people have a language barrier with BM songs, The Warning is mostly "naturally" oriented towards the Western market. In a situation where BM has lyrics in English, I think that the production sees an opportunity to "please" to the Western market, so they purposely beat out the vocal parts to emphasize that... The situation is similar with Bestie... because a lot of listeners don't even realize that it's English...with a heavy accent 🙂
Totally get the compression issue but funny thing it’s totally different on apple music. It’s almost like it’s a TH-cam mix thing. I may be losing my mind but I feel there’s a huge difference between the two. Take care guys 🤘🏼
Try checking the video resolution. It seems the audio gets compressed with lower than 1080. For me anyway, the vocal levels are perfect at 1080. Any lower and the vocals are too hot, and the instruments get smeared.
Hey Ricky Gervais, I'm glad you didn't "want to be unfair too soon". No one cares how YOU would have produced it, by the way. Two excellent bands get together for a rarely seen event and you decide it's the perfect time to go on a technical tangent. 🙄 You should produce their next albums and videos and save their careers!
Both bands have been together for 10+ years, the two best touring "rock" bands in the business today, both have multiple albums/eps' and multiple tours, and you're just discovering them ?? have you been living under a rock? OK that might be a little harsh, especially if rock is not your primary source of musical input, but like i said the 2 best rock bands in the business today
To be fair, Gojira have been a globally successful metal band for over a decade and many metal heads only first learned about them due to the Olympic opening ceremony. Sometimes you just miss stuff :D
You know why the vocals sound way forward? It's all in your mind. The vocal mix is just the way it should be. It has to cut through everything because it's a song. But when the instrumentation is really, really good, you try to focus way too much on the instruments.
I love this song, I love these bands.. but I’m looking forward to just pure band maid songs again. I find the warning army to be littered with trolls that really ruin the fun these two bands are having.
BREAKING NEWS: The Earth will stop on its axis causing worldwide natural disasters, and massive loss of life IF you don't play Band-Maid's "Hate" (Official Live, at the Yokohama arena) ASAP.
The point was to create and ierform a great song. A song is about the lyrics with the music in support. I find your complaints to be shallow and nit picky. By the wsy, there was no dueling. They made room for each other to shine without showboating. On stage in Tokyo, their respect for each other was obvious! I was at the show in Tokyo where they debuted this song. It was incredible. Question, what have YOU produced? Sorry, but i tire of armchair producers. Also, i get the impression you are not very familiar with either of the bands. During each other's set in Japan, the ither band members were cheering the one on stage from of stage. They truly love and respect each ither.
Unnecessarily rude. I'm massive Warning fan, appreciate Band-Maid too, and I also agree the vocals are much too forward in the mix. It’s still listenable, and it’s an amazing song, but it’s not unfair to wish the mix was a bit more balanced.
Hi Charles, Raff here :) Thanks for watching and commenting. It's always appreciated, and we are of course open to discussion. We can only give our own thoughts an opinions as they occur to us in the moment :) The whole point is that we offer some analysis and dive into things, and we absolutely acknowledge that our views may change over time with more listens. You may notice that we ultimately expressed that we enjoyed the song and the efforts of both bands here. However, we can't just sit there and say "yep we liked it" and not offer anything else. We acknowledge our experience with these bands is limited. We are fairly new to both of them, and so far the response from their fan bases has been wonderful. Tonnes of recommendations for other songs they feel we may enjoy, and we have plans to react to many of those as we continue on this journey. Oh and since you asked... We have both recorded and released music with our own bands. Personally, I have recorded in the US with a producer who has recorded Devildriver & Fear Factory. I have studied music and production with some of Australia's top industry names, and have recorded & produced multiple releases in my own studio. We have played gigs all across Australia, including supporting on multiple international tours. I don't say these things to suggest that they make us some kind of authority on the matter, just so that you can see we do have an understanding of what we are saying, and aren't just talking out of our asses :D
For TW fans it's obvious that this song was created mainly by B-M, it lacks the powerful guitar riff and the infectious and unforgettable chorus, which you can't get rid of for a long time, of TW's creations. And it's also obvious in this video that the guests are the TW girls. Of course it's a historic and amazing collaboration. Thanks and greetings from México!! 🇲🇽 🤘😁✌️ .
Not really a Band Maid fan. I've tried many times, I think it's the vocals that turn me away.. Stellar musicians...I'm all in for THE WARNING.. Their hard hitting wall of sound & vocals/harmonies are stuff legends are made of..The lyrics are brilliant. Every song I hear is my new favorite.. For me, The Warnings energy was not there in this .not my favorite song.. 1st time I've ever said that about The Warning in 10 years.. try DUST TO DUST LIVE AT TEATRO METROPOLITAN CDMX 2022 or HELL YOU CALL A DREAM LIVE AT THE PEPSI CENTER CDMX 🌎✌️
It took a bit for Saiki’s voice to grow on me. Anything in particular you don’t like about the vocals? If you like them otherwise, they have some instrumentals, and songs where the rhythm guitarist/second vocal sings lead.
@@daaaaaaveI fell in love with Saiki's live vocal almost immediately. It's getting more expressive, colourful and powerful. Her percussive singing complements Band-Maid's famous rhythm section, at least in my opinion. However I must admit that I never really liked her studio vocal at all. It always sounds dry, compressed, poppier. Saiki's natural register is about the same as Dani's. And her tone is deep, yet feminine and sassy.

You aren’t the only reactors to comment on the vocal forward mix. 😎👍
🕊️⚡🎶
They did it live so yeah they played together
The only problem I have with the song is that it's not 20 minutes long. There is so much talent on that stage that there is not enough room. I love both of these bands.
🤘🏻⚡️🇯🇵🔥
Catch ya.
Holy shit my dude! Thank you so much! You are amazing 😁 We'll get onto those right away
@@twodudestalkmusic Can you do a small shout out( hopefully they like it🤷🏻♀️) . Manner(MV) for Master Roger & Don’t you tell ME(live) Master Gary. Ta🍺🥴🐦
No need to rush. U planning of doing HATE?, so do what u planned. These Two songs not gonna go anywhere, u can do THEM next week/next month or even next year. All 👍
Nice to see a fellow Band-Maid fan in Melbourne!
@@lurkmerchant yo wasup. Same same.
I'm subscribed and always like. I just don't comment often. This is a great song 🤘
Even a thumbs up help the channels algorithm 👍
Welcome Home! Keep checking out these two amazing bands and you see more 🔥🔥🔥🙌🏼😎✌🏼
I always like, too. 👍 I sub whenever The Warning gets a reaction. 🤘 Commenting happens if I'm in the right mood. 👀
Keep your eyes peeled next week ;)
Highly recommend Shambles by Band Maid and Automatic Sun by The Warning. 2 killer songs by 2 killer bands.
Band Maid and The Warning doing Band Maid and The Warning things.
Thank you for your professional analysis. Don't forget in your agenda Giovanni instrumental, Kanami is on fire
Who is Giovanni? sounds interesting.
@@SDsailor7 it's a song by Bandmaid. They released some years ago an instrumental version. For me one of the best performance of Kanami

Nice. Now check the Warning Choke, Evolve, ooooorrrrrrrr The Official Video of the Warning Enter Sandman with Alessia Cara.
Everything I needed @5am
@@lurkmerchant Umm... ok, I did not say anything about the mix. I like the mix myself.
@@BlahBlah_13 Oops. It really wasn't a reply to your comment. My bad. Reply deleted 😅
@@lurkmerchant No worries. Done that before, too. 😁
The vocals are the best part.
Don't forget Miku is singing too.
It's a battle of Tone Vs Skill with a Pigeon in the middle!
Dany...Fantastic voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
🤘🤘🤘
🤘🔥⚡️
Totally get the compression issue but funny thing it’s totally different on apple music. It’s almost like it’s a TH-cam mix thing. I may be losing my mind but I feel there’s a huge difference between the two. Take care guys 🤘🏼
I wouldn't be surprised tbh. Mixes/Masters for different end points is not uncommon.
The Warning Army al ataque 😂
Saludos desde la Patagonia Argentina.
The Warning nos une.
You'd better do 'Hate?' You need that in your life!
Try checking the video resolution. It seems the audio gets compressed with lower than 1080. For me anyway, the vocal levels are perfect at 1080. Any lower and the vocals are too hot, and the instruments get smeared.
👍👍 !!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Compare Misa's ending with Ale's ending of Survive
🤘⚠️great reaction ⚠️🤘
I enjoyed 🤘
Both bands have been together for 10+ years, the two best touring "rock" bands in the business today, both have multiple albums/eps' and multiple tours, and you're just discovering them ?? have you been living under a rock? OK that might be a little harsh, especially if rock is not your primary source of musical input, but like i said the 2 best rock bands in the business today
To be fair, Gojira have been a globally successful metal band for over a decade and many metal heads only first learned about them due to the Olympic opening ceremony.
Sometimes you just miss stuff :D
Soooo..
How about some HATE?
🤘😉🤘
It's on the list for sure!
You know why the vocals sound way forward? It's all in your mind. The vocal mix is just the way it should be. It has to cut through everything because it's a song. But when the instrumentation is really, really good, you try to focus way too much on the instruments.
So you like bass? I would go for "No God" or "Shambles"!
I love this song, I love these bands.. but I’m looking forward to just pure band maid songs again. I find the warning army to be littered with trolls that really ruin the fun these two bands are having.
BREAKING NEWS: The Earth will stop on its axis causing worldwide natural disasters, and massive loss of life IF you don't play Band-Maid's "Hate" (Official Live, at the Yokohama arena) ASAP.
hahaha ok so that was the one we had planned to do, but with this dropping we felt like we had to get on this instead. Don't worry! It's coming :)
"Ale is the best rock bassist of 2024" - based on what?
Hate?
Keep your eyes on the channel next week ;)
Hi Charles, Raff here :)
Thanks for watching and commenting.
🤘😁✌️
.
The Warning did a behind the scenes vid about meeting BM in Japan, collaborating and performing together on stage. They needed interpreters because English is 2nd language for the Warning and most BM members have very little english. To pull off a live show and a mv in a week or so is amazing.
