Return of The Warning on TCV! Vocal ANALYSIS of "Choke"

- It's been since my old studio that I listened to these three sisters from Mexico absolutely slaying it, and before my friend Lzzy Hale gave one of her guitars to Dany Villareal in one of their live performances with Halestorm. Is that too long to listen to The Warning? I think so. Let's kick this year off with one of their bigger tunes, and let me know in the comments which The Warning I should check out next!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to The Warning performing "Choke" for the first time.

The Warning new song Hell You Call A Dream is absolutely faaaaantastic!! Live version too is so damm good! Dany's vocals and facial expressions give me life!
Yes, the Live version of Hell You Call A Dream is such a great performance and showcase of their stage presence.
Yes, sooooooo much this.
Just hopped on a couple weeks ago and happily learning more about these sisters, they are playing music I've been missing for decades.
Their musical ferocity and genuine rock and roll hearts are magnetic. What an amazing story coming out of Mexico.
My favorite so far is from their upcoming album, "More". You might consider reviewing their 'star making' appearance in the 2023 MTV VMA's. Incredible live performances of "Evolve" and "More", cheers :)
You should consider reaching out to the girls and doing an interview with them at some point.
I would pay good $$ to see that.
YES! You will not regret an interview with The Warning.
65 years old. These women made me listen to new music again.
I know how you feel, I’m 68 and have been waiting for decades for a band like Warning to come along and get me rocking again!
@@SEP392 I feel the same about Band-Maid. I'm 58 years old.
62 here, they seem to have that effect on us older folks, must be the sheer talent of these young ladies. Really gives you hope for the future.....
62 YO tired musician - now AWAKE! These girls rock!
yo 63
They stole our hearts when Ale's bass was taller than she was, we couldn't see Pau behind her drums, and Dani thrashed out the chords for Sandman.
Old Rockers agree: The Warning saved modern rock with their passion and musical chops. They can write, too!
they didn't save modern rock lol.
63yr old, here: 100% agree: I use to say: "the hard rock, I've been craving for years!"
@@jakeyxjakey1 Right: they are far on top of most of the "modern" rest of it. But, maybe they can: they seem to be inspirational to many.
62yr old and I haven't been this excited to see a band in a while. Didn't think I was gonna see them in 24' with them touring in Europe. So Spain, France, Germany...then 15 minutes away. I knew they liked New Jersey!! WMMRBQ Got my ticket!! I think I'm close enough that Ale's bass will melt my face off!! Love these ladies!! So Psyched!!!
Their writing is what initially drew my wife and I to them, definitely!
I love that about Paulina, she's always at 110%.
Seeing Alejandra sing is like a solar eclipse. It's a rare occurrence that everyone wants to witness. 😁
Her shyness is so endearing 😊
Her shyness and her huskyness@@oskarfunes2505
Someday...I want to hear a Spanish song from The Warning featuring Ale on lead vocals. I guy can dream...
@@JustDarrenJid like them to do ANY song where Ale always sings lead... Just one song where its always her song... she sometimes sing lead but only if Dany needs a break...
That's my dream...
They have been fighting to position themselves as a young, talented and professional band. Maintaining a simple and powerful rock with very good lyric arrangements and a crystalline and energizing sound. Not only young people, but also the elderly and the family vibrate with The Warning. They are people without elitism.
Not only does Pau sing with full voice while playing the drums, she manages to show emotion with her facial expressions…all the while hitting those drums like they owe her money.
Yeah, she's a real hard-hitter on the drum kit. What's impressive to me is her stamina... the extra movement and singing should tire her but she's still going at the end like a beast!
Honestly... one of the best rock drummers I have seen in many years.... and I am not speaking technically or speed etc just her whole style is fucking awesome.
@@kevinwilson455 I’ve heard she sings while running on a treadmill to build up stamina
@@kevinwilson455she did win an award for best drummer 2023.
that's funny, not the first time that description was used.
Pau is a good singer but she idolizes Taylor Swift and it shows. But Dani is a true rock artist and I love female altos better anyway.
Ii only recently became a fan. As I do I went back to their earlier original music to find out their influences.(Only audio) thier composition and use of different range of harmony was always thought out, structured and perfectly delivered. Then throw in thick heavy riffs, hooking bass lines and solid drums (Pau timing and tempo always changing). I was obsessed. Then I watched their videos and I realised how young they are. Some of the songs I replayed over and over was recorded when the youngest was 13. Musically, I knew they're very talented but to see the energy, comfort on stage and with thier instruments, stage presence, interaction with audience, I was floored. 3 girls, 3 instruments, 3 vocals and a sound engineer this good is rare. Their agent/ manager have found the golden goose.
Dust to Dust from this same concert.
I’ve watched it 100 times easily and it still gives me chills every time.
Totally agree
I watched this show so many times, I have a groove in my internet!!
It will also give Elisabeth a chance to review Pau as she leads on the vocals on Dust to Dust.
That's the first song I ever heard from them, and I was instantly hooked.
Dust to Dust is a MUST!
The song "23" must be the next one. Paulina is the lead singer in that song, but the feeling and energy she has on that song of that same concert is amazing. Dany is the rockstar voice and Pau is the sweet and melodic voice
Dust To Dust next!!
I LIED, DO REVENANT
Dust to Dust is a great song to see Pau singing and playing kit. They are always better live and they have great pro-shot performances to choose from. They’re just a whole different animal live.
Yes, a full Pau's vocal is worthy of TCV's in depth analysis❤
Actually 23 is a better showcase for Pau
Yes, Dust To Dust or 23 from this same show to see Pau sing and play at the same time
YOU NEED TO CHECK OUT The Hell You Call a Dream live at Pepsi Center CDMX !!!!!!! Unbelievable performance !!!!!!!!!!
⚡️TWA⚡️
Definitely gotta hear a Pau lead too
Pau sings lead on Dust to Dust and that's one of my top 5 favorite songs of all time!
Recommend you check out pau's vocals on "23" and "revenant" from the teatro metropolitan show.
The emotions in her vocals on "23" while drumming are my favorite. Love her technique on that song, and the poetic lyrics.
@@squireman123 23 is my favorite Pau song. I love the drum fill a minute into the song after Is it Wrong? Gets me in the feels every time
Review 23, Pau singing.
Im 64 years old and have seen them 5 times, once with Halestorm. These ladies have IT! Have not been this excited about a band since I saw Aerosmith in a small venue in 1975. Great reaction, Thank you. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! 😀
I have been waiting 490+ days to see that you do another reaction to The Warning after Evolve. I WILL be here for the Premier! You picked another great song and venue.
YAY!! And more to come, I presume. This performance was AMAZING!
Same. I have been waiting impatiently. This is a great song.
The two I hope to see some day on this channel though are 23 from Teatro, and the acoustic version of Sinister Smiles. All 3 ladies all by themselves in a hotel conference room from Dec 2019. No processing and crystal clear vocals.
@@TheCharismaticVoice
Please believe me when I say that every performance from that show was just as good if not better. The show opener Z is my personal favorite to recommend to reactors with little experience of what The Warning do while on stage, BUT I will defer to the rest of the page and go along with Dust to Dust ( or 23 ⚡⚡⚡) as being the next logical choice so that ypu cam really hear Pau on lead!
Thank You Elizabeth ❤❤❤
@@TheCharismaticVoice Yes, it was. I was able to watch the entire concert on TH-cam when it premiered about 6 months ago.
@@TheCharismaticVoiceomg I’m so excited!!!!!
I liked what one person said on their MTv song. "Rock didn't die. It just moved to Mexico."
Im from México and i love The Warning, but its sad how they got more recognition out there than in their own country! Either way, im glad that these 3 ladies are getting better and better and rocking out! They deserve it!
@@marubailon4433 Not anymore, they are selling out bigger venues in their home country now two sold out Auditorio nacional concerts at 1000
each and now they got a concert scheduled in Monterrey at a big venue and another one in Guadalajara. They haven't sold out a venue of that number in Europe or the U.S yet.
The Warning feel timeless but fresh.
You need to hear Pau singing lead on "Dust to Dust" from that same concert. Pounding on those drums and singing the lead flawlessly.
Remember that time you watched Phil Collins get behind the drum kit and sing In The Air Tonight? Yeah, you really need to check out Pau singing “23” “Dust To Dust” hell, i dont care what it is, you will be very pleased to see how well she can sing while drumming without going WHACKA WHACKA! Thanks again from all of us fans of The Warning.
Another song that Pau the drummer sings excellently is Narcisista
"23" is amazing! I would love to see her take it on.
Yeah spot on its an incredible performance.
Dany said that the performance of Comfortably Numb on Pink Floyd's Pulse tour was one of the performances that inspired her to play guitar, so you hit the nail on the head Elizabeth.
Their live MTV performance is off the charts! Particularly "Evolve" when Pau has the audience in the palm of her hand.
Even the production manager was in aw
I'm in my 50's and mostly into electronic music but these three girls are among the best I've heard!
One thing about The Warning live, is that they never limit themselves. Dany's voice is generally harsher and more raw live, because she doesn't hold back. Some might say it can be a bad thing (not musically, but in terms of taking care of her voice etc), but it's a big part of why people always say that you NEED to see them live. There's so much passion in every performance, and they've been performing live for the better part of a decade now!
No better example than Martirio from this same show. When her voice cracks on that wail towards the end. So much emotion and passion that she sometimes overreaches.
But, that might also be one of the reasons her voice is so much stronger now. She keeps pushing the boundaries and learns where to pull back just short of the edge.
@@tay13666pretty sure it's mainly stronger because she has been having lessons.
@@101Mant I know she has been doing vocal training for years now. Plus she is maturing into her voice as well.
I understand she does do voice warmups before each show.
@@tomland9293 All singers do.
Can't perform when your voice isn't warmed up. That's a good way to do damage.
It’s so funny that u said she reminds you of Lzzy Hale! I was introduced to The Warning when Lzzy invited them on her tour for their first North American tour. They were introduced as special guest! I was blown away and now I am a huge fan! Already an enormous Halestorm fan!!!!!! Women rock!!!!!!!!!
These ladies have restored my faith that hard rock isn’t dead.🤘🤘🤘
They are performing with Band Maid In Japan this summer eight ladies that are saving hard rock rock. I wish we could see a review of Band Maid !!!! They met each other at a festival to years ago. And it's going to be an amazing show and perhaps a collaboration.🙏

you have yo listen to Dany's performance in their new song "Hell You Call a Dream", absolutely amazing, as a mexican rock and metal fan I'm proud of this girls, also they are the 3 sweetest people on earth.
The live phone captures are awesome. One that’s closer to Ale is crazy for her bass riffs 🔥
Live, I'll be honest the studio version is pretty underwhelming.....I my opinion

If these ladies don't hit superstardom.. there's a problem.
This is the biggest event coming up!!! The greatest fricken band in the world right now… exploding internationally!!!!
I saw them at a small venue in LA last year and they are definitely as good as everyone says, the energy is amazing!
Hi, Elizabeth. I truly hope you can watch the drummer, Pau, sing while playing drums. She has a way of incorporating raw emotion into her vocals that you would appreciate. Please check out the song "23" from this same concert. I think you'll be amazed.
Yes 23 from this concert is amazing. It's a must see.
Fully agree. 23 is one my favorites!
23 is a super personal song for Paulina, I've heard she doesn't like to sing it live often because of that. Gotta check it out.
@@fabioriato Based on the lyrics and subject matter, it "MAY" be a personal song for Paulina. It is one of their few songs written it the first person and about a relationship. However, I've never heard her or any sister say that it was about her for sure. Also - I've never heard mention that she doesn't like to play "23" live. The song you may be thinking of is "Breathe" - which she HAS said is intensely personal to her and she has only performed it once live, very emotionally.
It's the absolute joy they exude that I love
Thanks for your reaction and analysis, Elizabeth. Dany (guitar age 24), Pau (drums 22) and Ale (bass 19) all sing and harmonize beautifully, are celebrating 10 years as a band. Their 4th album, Keep Me Fed, will be released on June 28. I believe these 3 sisters have listened to a wide variety of genres of music, especially rock, to create their unique sound, which I find has an infectious sound. I have seen them live 4 times and look forward to many more. I greatly look forward to many more videos from Elizabeth featuring The Warning. I am proud patreon for The Warning and The Charismatic Voice.
These ladies are simply kickin ass! I'm 55 and haven't been this excited about a new band in quite awhile.
I discovered The Warning from your first review of them and have been obsessed ever since. We definitely need a Tea Time talk with these 3 amazing women.
Yes! Tea Time with The Warning! Please :)
What amazes me as much as anything is that this is already the 14th (technically 13th since intermission was Pau on a recording of Breathe) song in this concert. And she maintains this power all the way through the full 22 (technically 21) songs.
My favorite band and my favorite analyzer. I know what I'll be doing tomorrow. Wocka-wocka-wocka.
First thing I am doing when I get home from work tomorrow.
Me too ! (On the band and analyzer) lol
You NEED watch the song "23" from the same concert, just amazing!
The slow stoic solo intro from Dany, the crowd “i wont survive the fall” then that power chord…
S!CK, HYCAD (Hell You Call a Dream) and one other track are their new single in 2024, new album coming in June, “Keep Me Fed”
72 yrs old and these talented gals remind me how much I have always loved new music. They have grown up on stage. They had to master the piano before the parents let them choose the instrument of their choice. They sing superbly. They play superbly. They have superb stage presence. But... what you said about composition. These women are some of the best new song writers in metal music today. Their mixture of music influences make them unique, fresh, and they are seasoned veteran musicians.
I'm 62 William and you hit the nail on the head. These ladies are not only consummate musicians, but their writing ability is also phenomenal. The arrangements are some of the best hard in the rock/metal genre that I have heard in many, many years. I can't wait to hear what is to come!
Her voice has improved dramatically since this vid.
Thx for the vid
This song puts so much strain on Danys voice so the fact that she can do this in the middle of a show is nothing short of amazing. I've seen her do it live . And they're all great. Hope you get a chance to see em live. Check out their newer singles - Hell you Called a Dream and Que Mas Quieres (translation required)
It's been too long since you've listened to The Warning! I'm so glad you have them back on your show! I can't wait!
Finally, after decades of listening to hundreds of artists and having thousands of songs in my playlists, there's a band that really captivates me.
Absolutely EPIC live performance!!
They are the best power trio of XXI century!
Viva The Warning!! ⚡⚡⚡
JAJA...EPA.
Paulina and Daniela both pour their entire souls into every performance, it's absolutely beautiful to watch. My most distinct memory from seeing them live is how Pau had a glowing smile the entire show. Alejandra usually plays it cool though, occasionally letting a smirk shine through while nailing her basslines with absolute precision.
Revenant from this same concert is unreal, particularly from a vocal perspective. Or you can reach a bit further back to see their acoustic performance of Sinister Smiles if you really want to get a feel for the dynamics of the three sister's voices.
Live is where these ladies thrive!
More The Warning please, Elizabeth!
I'd be so cool if you could interview them. They're lovely people.
Elizabeth, thank you SO much! As you did with Lzzy, these ladies would be worth your time to do a tea time with. Their history runs deep for such young ladies (24,22, & 19), they have so much to share, from being classically trained on piano, to getting to tour in Europe with their heroes Muse. I think you’d really enjoy it, The Warning Army would go apoplectic, lol!
I happily second this. The only thing these ladies love more than music is each other.⚡⚡⚡
Tea Time with The Warning would make me very happy. I've watched a ton of interviews with them and their vocals never seem to get the attention deserved. Hoping you can rectify this oversight.
They are very articulate in both English and Spanish (more so in English than most native English speakers, I dare say) and enjoy in-depth discussion. They are invariably polite with even the most banal questions, but Dany's and Pau's eyes in particular light up when given the opportunity to discuss more substantial subjects).
I missed them when they were touring with Halestorm, but I caught them touring with Plush and they are so amazing! How they got to where they are today is an amazing story!
These three ladies are extraordinary - One of the biggest things to come in rock history - and the best thing about it: You know that you are witnessing something extraordinary just befor the whole party even starts. Imagine where this journey leads to - we've watched them growing - they are already giants - they will be godesses...
I know this is most likely just me because I don't think that I know very many rock bands but after a little bit of watching this video I thought of The Run aways and how they really held their own and made a mark on rock and roll in their day. These Ladies sound like they are doing the same. This is the first song and first time that I have listened to a song from The Warning. Now I'll go look them up and listen to this one and others because I have a feeling that I am going to not just like their music but I will probably love it also. Thank you Elizabeth for sharing this video with us. May you have a good one. Have fun take care
I love that they all sing.
Especially all have parts on this song.
I suggest Crimson Queen by The Warning you get to hear Dany’s range so powerful!
Never heard of them before and that’s why I love this Channel!! I see new music for me and I’m digging this
They literally do not have a bad song. It’s a rabbit hole worth going down for sure.
If you just started by going back to this very same concert and watch the whole thing.. You would be well on your way, but their whole story is truly quite amazing. hf..
Welcome aboard! The Warning have a deep catalog of awesome songs for you to discover!
I’m an old fart that grew up in the 60’s and 70’s. That music inspired be to play guitar but play bass mostly. It is so refreshing to hear The Warning. Listening to their music and watching them is inspiring me again. I really enjoy your commentary on music and try to apply it to my singing.
I’m 68 and know how u feel, the Warning has renewed my interest in Rock again , these ladies are the best band to come along in decades !
LOVE the part with Ale singing solo!
Thank you so much for plugging this incredible band. They are the best thing in Rock in a long time. Wait till you dive into their complex lyrics, it is truly mindblowing how brilliant these young musicians are. Animosity is one of my favorite songs of all time, I think that should be the next one. It is so expertly layered and delivered. Full body chills, I tell you.

Watched them twice in 2022 when they opened for The Pretty Reckless. They are FANTASTIC! The lead singer is great, and Paulina the drummer steals the show. Can’t believe 3 people make that much sound. I absolutely LOVE this band!!!
Pretty Wreckless is weak compared to The Warning.
The thing that I have always loved about their performances has been the heavy driving bass, a lot of the time it feels like it is given equal if nor forward standing in the mix.
The ask Ale how loud she wants the bass, and she just says Yes. It's always much more forward live than in the studio versions.
I just saw “dust to dust” from the same show, and it is fantastic!!

I just can't get enough of this ladies!!! It's been years since I'd feeled that much shivers and chills and excitement for a new band..!! They are amazing
thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!
Had never heard of them until I saw them open for Halestorm & The Pretty Reckless in 2022. I’ve been lucky enough to see them live twice more since, once in their own headlining show. They are amazing live…I hope you get to see them live soon!
I met these ladies at a festival last year, and they seem like awesome and sweet people. They are fantastic live performers too, so I definitely recommend you see them live.
Can confirm! These ladies are the real deal. Their live show is incredible!
So great that you came back to The Warning. I have traveled more than 10k miles across North America in the past two years to see them play. In more than 40 years of concert going, I have only ever done that with Rush. As you see in this show, they are amazing live. It is astonishing to me how they can simultaneously hit as hard as any band I have seen, yet still make it feel like they are singing to just you. Their rapport with the audience is something not seen often. I hope you come back again and do one where Paulina sings lead (Dust 2 Dust from this same show would be a great pick).
I think I can speak for The Warning Amy that we are so pleased you enjoyed this. I am convinced that the future of rock is female. And if The Warning are leading what is to come, I am all in for that!!
There's a vid of bassist Ale playing a piece of classical music on piano when she was six. All three were playing piano by six so composition seems to come naturally for them.
Highly recommend Band-Maid after The Warning! Another all women band from Japan who is unbelievably talented. Their latest two live videos would be great to showcase their talent: “Don’t You Tell Me” or “Hate?”. They’ve been around for 10 years and their two singers have just gotten better and better!
I'd love to see a review of the live version of Freedom. As introductory songs go, it's probably my favorite because it gives every member a chance to show off. And they're all very clearly having so much fun with it.
Plus it's a masterclass in solo transitions.
I concur! We have to put Band-Maid on Elizabeth’s radar. Domination would be good too!
I really hope she checks out Band-Maid and doubly hope she see a live video first. I would love to hear any insight Elisabeth has about Saiki's vocal surgery.
Same concert but I would recomend the live performance of "Unleash" and "Endless Story" ... Damn that whole concert was epic
@@StoveLad Since Elizabeth is a vocalist my suggestion for her would be to react to Band-Maid "Wonderland" (OLV) or "Daydreaming" (OMV).
The Warning and Band-Maid just released a song together a couple of days ago
Thank you for your analysis if this performance. I love your reaction to each member of this fabulous rock band. Dust to Dust will give you another perspective of TW, where Pau sings lead vocals and sets her drum kit on fire, Ale shines with her bass lines, and Dany plays beautiful notes with her guitar and exhibits her vocal range at the end. This concert is full of great songs and breath taking performances of each song.
Yes! Yes! Yes! And a thousand Thank You's on top.
These ladies are the real deal and bring 100% to their live performances. Pau recently received an award in her home country for Inspirational Women and deserves everything she gets. She is my favorite Genius on the planet full stop.
Love you for this Elizabeth 💞

Saw them live last year, will see them live in a month. They are an absolute force live. I highly recommend all the songs from this show to listen to, especially "Queen of the Murder Scene", "Dust to Dust", "Ugh", "23", "Survive" and "Revenant". But really you can't pick a favourite. They are all awesome
Thank you for revisiting The Warning! "Sinister Smiles ACOUSTIC VERSION" is amazing and really showcases great vocal contributions from all three sisters.
(Also, everything from the Teatro Metropolitan concert is fantastic. "Z" is the perfect way to start a concert. "Dust to Dust" has wonderful lead vocals from Pau, an awesome bassline from Ale, and some unique contributions from Dany. Then there's..."Dull Knives," "Money," "Error," "Animosity," "Ugh," "Disciple," "Survive," "Martirio"....and on and on.)

You must check out their first cover of Enter Sandman from 10 years ago and then check their version live from this same performance. Also, Z and Disciple and pretty much anything from this performance was amazing. If you want to check a live version of Evolve, the MTV VMAs was incredible as is the version from this performance.
The reason why the part where Ale sings by herself Is the most rewatched It's because when she sings lead, it's like finding a unicorn because seeing her sing lead even for a moment is a rare sight, she has a tremendous voice just like her sisters do but she has said she doesn't like singing lead. And us loyal diehard The Warning Army members love seeing her sing lead now and again. And we all hope oneday she'll come around and sing lead on one song on a new album sometime in the future. There are videos you can find on youtube, live performances where Ale Does sing lead. The 2 songs that I know she will sing lead on in lieu of Dany sometimes is Hunter and Red Hands Never Fade, two great songs by the way. Also anything you react to from this Teatro metropolitan 2022 concert in Mexico City You will not be disappointed.
Ale ain't comfortable doing it. People should respect that.
The BEST vocal coach with The Best The Warning, how can’t this be amazing?
Glorious to hear you be a fan and get as excited as we are.
My respect and guess what? PLEASE MORE OF THE WARNING. ( 2 new songs just released)
Big hugs from México ❤️
Every song from this concert is worthy of a reaction. That's the thing with The Warning, there is no good place to pause during a song. Ale singing by herself is always a nice treat. She's the quiet badass hiding in the shadows waiting for the moment to come forward to kick your ass with amazing vocals and killer bass.
What an absolutely beautiful, and well articulated analysis! These ladies are taking over the world, with good reason! Thank you so much for this! ❤⚡️
Seen them last year with New Years Day and Halestorm. They rocked it live.
Great reaction!
Pau actually won Rock Drummer Of The Year!! These ladies are very special in deed!!
I saw them live 3x in Denver, small venues. Best performances by The Warning are live. In my second concert, they only played 5 songs as Dany succumbed to altitude sickness during Enter Sandman. She finished the song perfectly, on her knees, and was then escorted by Carlos off stage. What professionals these ladies are.
That was my first TW concert. It was sad she couldn't finish, but wow....what a great show even so
Happy to see you return to these rocking sisters from Mexico. One of the best rock bands to come around for a long time. Glad you did the concert from Teatro Metropolitan CDMX.
Other songs from that same concert I'd recommend - Ugh, When I'm Alone, Disciple, Money, Kool Aid Kids, Evolve.
omg yesss please listen to more of them, they're great and really really talented, I'm also mexican so they're a huuuge inspiration for me, it'd mean a lot to me if you keep watching them on here
I love how metal music is so inclusive. Every different representation of humanity can show their own unique way to be METAL!
While your statement is 100% true, I wouldn't really say The Warning are metal. They're hard rock. Which is just as good.
@@smward87They are harder than the Metallica black Pop album and Pau is a better drummer than Lars.
It doesn't matter how much I love a piece of music. Whenever Elizabeth reacts to it, it gives me extra tears and joy at the same time.
