I started in January. I have took vacation 3 times already, just got approved for 3 days off for bereavement, im stress free, im bringing home about 3800-4k after taxes every 2weeks, i have an assigned tractor where im the only one driving it, i just got half of my 5k bonus for referring someone, i kinda wish i came years ago, this job is gravy, and i was an independent operator for 17yrs with multiple trucks. Yes i gave more income but this stress is extremely minimal here. But i love this job. And im not just saying this because i work here.

Thanks for the great content, Rich. Very much appreciated. I’ve been invited to orientation starting July 29th here in northern Illinois. Now I just hope not to have a brain fart during testing! I’m a good driver, and all of it really should be a piece of cake, but you just never know when it’s testing time, right? Anyway, wish me luck! I listed you as the driver who referred me. Spoke with the HR Manager from my DC today and she confirmed to me that you are on file for referral. Now I just have to pass that week of testing! 👍😎👍

@@geronimo913 no difference in the shirt colors, just a personal choice you get to make. The locations on the website are ones that are currently/actively hiring. But there's nothing stopping you from applying to other dc's. They will simply put you on a waiting list, as I understand it. Obviously your chances are better at a DC that is hiring.
I applied for a position listed at a GM DC in my area and it was the only job listed near me. When I spoke with my recruiter, I asked him about the grocery DC in my area since I had worked the Walmart account there for a mega carrier that ran most of their loads at that particular location. Even though they didn’t have a job posting listed, he said I could absolutely choose to work at that DC if I would rather do that. I decided it made sense to do that because I already know the DC, all of the routes and stores they serve, and all of the gate and yard driver staff there and liked working with them. That’s not to say that it’s always possible to do that, since I have no idea. I just know it worked out, for whatever reason, for me because I asked and they happened to have a seat to fill.

@@Christopher-2984 no, they only accept experienced drivers meeting certain qualifications. Or they will train associates (Walmart employees) from within the supply chain (stores, Sam's, DCs, etc.) So if you work for Walmart at least one year, you could come in with the permit to be trained if they accept you.
I called the Walmart drivers recruiters directly. I live in Las Vegas, they don’t have anything currently available in my area, but they told me they’ll put me on a waiting list and call when something opens up. I’ve head that before from recruiters. Do you think it’s realistic they’ll call me back?
@@jmar84 Yes it's realistic. I know of some drivers who waited months for the call. However, depending on driver demand it may be some time before they actually call you.
