The legendary Uncle J. An absolutely humble gentleman. I attended secondary school with his younger sister. I remember running into him and his younger sister around year 2000 somewhere in Ikeja. Uncle Jide was driving and his sister saw me and begged him to park and pick me up - AND HE DID! Turns out they weren't going my way but that gesture has remained in my heart till this very day. Much respect to you Uncle J - Adeniyi from Manchester, UK 🙏🏽
Jide Chord of London. A man with a sonorous voice, quintessential and jolly good fellow. Wish I could like it twice. The interview was devoid of any bitterness and misgivings. Kudos DA
I have a picky yoruba but this interviewer I love his way of interview. He allows people speak, cuts in briefly but very intelligently. Really I don't hear most yoruba but I understand his interviews. Kudos chief
One of the best interview so far. Nothing is new in his personality. I have studied the man for a long term , non controversial, easy going but I never knew he grommed big name like that. Long live jide. What a down to earth man
01:13:00 The Jamaican artiste he wanted to recall is Guyanese-British musician Eddy Grant. He sang "Electric Avenue," released on his 1982 studio album 'Killer on the Rampage'.
Jide Chord of Life! Enjoyed this interview so much, so many memories of London in 90s. I directed like 4 videos for him including Brown Sugar and Paddy Mi Maalo. Great guy.
bring back memories - life in london late 80s and 90s - proper way of working your way up Odd jobs +studies . what is up with Tym Connection? who knows anything about Him?
The great AyoSho. U still dey owe us on why you sell us less on Afrobeat from your perspective. Nevertheless we greatly cherished your contribution to Afrobeat in many ways.
I practiced journalism for 30 years , rose from a reporter to Group Managing Director, edited many publications and conducted several interviews. Therefore I know a good journalist and a superb interviewer. This guy is certainly an exceptional one who has stolen many of my nights. He is a deep digger who knows how to dig out his story from the most reluctant subject. Kudos dear colleague.
Dele, you are doing great. I have a suggestion if you don't mind. Can you please mention the date of the interview in your intros to put a stamp on the time frame of your videos. Remain blessed.
Baba Dele Adeyanju, I've been downloading and listening to your interviews with exam prep attention, but I must confess, I ENJOY THIS JIDE CHORD INTERVIEW, it's actually my best, the way he answers, the pleasant atmosphere he created, quite relaxed and of course, funny. Jide Chord of London, I duff my hat, Dele adeyanju of the universe, shine on! Baba.
Uncle Jide Chord! Watching "pasero mi" video as far back as 1995/96 opened my eyes to travelling to the UK during my teenage years. Shout out to Agbaletu tv from the UK.
Nice interview. Good job to the interviewer and interviewee. I like Jide Chord's take on magic, spirituality and polygamy. On magic and spirituality, Nigerians find it difficult to believe good or bad things can happen due to training, chance or karma. I believe all magicians are just illusioninsts and when Nigerians can't explain something, it is quickly classified as supernatural. It is similar in religion. Statistically, the chanceof there being people who will succeed or fail in a congregation is at least one percent per month. This makes it easier for heads of religious establishment to make prophesies/statements regarding these and people will assume it is his/her doing. The same mentality makes people want to have something physical (water, anointing oil, etc) to give confidence in a job interview, while travelling, etc. As for polygamy, he is very right about the western world's take on that. The only caveat/loophole in the west is that you can't/shouldn't have two wives at the same time but you can have as many as you want as long as you divorce the current one. It could as well have been left for the couple to decide if they want to be in polyamourous relationships. I guess in time, that will be the case with the way liberalism is going. I am quite sure that if polygamy had started in the western world, they (western world) would have been deemed it fine, while getting married and divorcing would have been frowned upon.
What I like about Dele is his research. He studies his subjects extensively. He brings a lot of knowledge to his conversations which makes his interviews look easy. I am one of his fans.
Dele, you are so good in your craft! Uncle J is intelligent, frank and a likeable personality. Dele thanks for blessing us with an interview session as robust as this!
Great man and highly talented and eloquent ,Mr Adeyanju you're doing well with these living legends you're visiting for interviews, keep up the good work sir
I love this man to be core. Jide Chord is an open minded person. He says it as it is. "Asoro loju oloro, t'aba so nko, kini baba oloro fe so". Love you brother. ❤❤❤❤❤.
Lovely session with the legendary Jide Chord. You can't but love his demeanor. Bigger you sir. Kudos, Dele Agbaletu. Keep up the good work, prosterity will be kind to you bro .. ❤
Delle, Please how can I get the e-version of Dele Ojo's Eni Ola; Iya mo nbo nile, and Ori lo mo olola . I will be ready to pay for the service. Babakehinde OWOLABI
Dele Adeyanju you were right with the argument that Daily Sketch Ibadan began the entertainment features in the early 70s. Abayomi Tabi was one of their writers. I can't remember if Kayode Soyinka, was also in the Sketch entertainment then.
I actually agreed with Dele Agbaletu on the retirement plan for the musicians ❤ he made ist cleared enough with that illustration at hr 17miin of this clip 👌 yes musicians should plan for their retirement too at that age 70 or there about,"people will definitely judge and rate you for the present performance not for the past ones" its so true 100% ❤❤and at that age you are already losing it truth be told 👍👉👂👂
Jide wants to talk about Electric boogie... Marcia Griffiths. I like the way he talked about polygamy without pretending. Jide is a natural Musician like Sir Kaypee Akinpelu @ Ife
It wasn't the parking we actually ganged up and went to segun dynamics show that day it was only Michael on bass guiter. And am sure everyone of us regretted it till now cos we now suffer it from our band boys
I love your interviews and I am one of your fan that can watch your clips multiple time but i want to advise that you should please stop mentioning names example "Bosun Olaku", in this interview and you do it in several others. Just an advise "Word is enough for the Wise" Thanks
Another excellent interview, Dele but it is very unfortunate that Cele boy Jide Chord thought it was something cool to display and drink imported brandy during this interview. It isn't cool. It's appalling actually. He merely confirmed that he has alcohol problem and also why the likes of him would never attain the levels of respectability and success that disciplined Commander Ober and KSA have. His Yoruba English is also not cool; given that he is a Yoruba Juju so called artiste. As for Professor Peller's magic works, there was NO Voodoo involved whatsoever. It was merely illusions for entertainment purposes. He was NOT spiritually powerful. There were merely magical illusions. Aka. tricks. Religions are institutionalised scams and down to mere powers of believe.
@@shubyranky1thank you bro, most of the so called Christians are hypocrites? He is a very jolly guy, let him be please. Stay in your own lane and stop judging

Very real man. No shame, no bullsh*t. Just saying it as it is outside the shores of Nigeria. Love and respect.
I love Jide Chord for being sincere and open with his interactions. God bless your handwork.
I still sing one of his tracks at all the burial events I sing at. Oluwa lo mo se oba araye
Iyanju ladamo ngba o

He made a lot sense particularly his view on spirituality. He was very realistic and cut through the Nigerian mythology.
Well articulated and comical interview.

Side cord use to be my church member at white city parish in London then in the 90s
He had a regular performance at Pintos Ikeja in the early 2000's.
He is being economical with the truth about life secrets !
