      Doesn't even have to be every time you say no. But inbetween, here and there, tell em no. Especially at work. Sometimes even if you don't have a reason, but have been saying too much yes recently.
      Best example: Day off. Some lazy fucking bum calls in sick. Now your boss is on the line because he needs someone ASAP. Don't say yes everytime, because you will become the "Back-up Guy Nr. 1". Instead, every second or third or fourth or so time, say no.
      "No, I can't, I'm already busy and I told you I had this day planned out." End the call. Boom. Boundary set.

      Mayhzon It's all good 'till the "end the call" part, don't hang up on your boss unless you want to lose your job. Just hold your ground &casualy close the conversation

    Dude. This came right on time. I've slowly but surely grown out of being the yes man. It doesn't get you anywhere, makes you feel like shit and weak on the inside. My mom is a huge example of someone who made me set several boundaries growing up; she used to literally tell me to do anything and everything, the smallest of things. But they add up. I had to start telling her no here and there, or say I'm busy or bluntly I don't feel like it. Keep up the videos man.

    An example that readily comes to mind when talking about following your own path as a man is with homework. I'm still in high school and got a lot to learn about still but it was recently, the past month or so, that after following Elisha's and Peterson's advice that I've become more disagreeable and began adopting that mindset of "I don't owe anything to anyone". As an honors student, a lot of your life revolves around HW. Being in "higher-level" courses does not necessarily mean more complex material, though you could argue that. The education system now a day's core teachings/ purpose is to create diligent, agreeable, competent young adults that will not question the status quo. Critical thinking is no longer a skill emphasized. And it is more evident the more AP and Honors courses one takes. The way you excel in those classes is mostly attributed to doing the vast amount of homework and spending a lot of time and energy into studying for tests. As I began on my own path I started to question why it is that I spend so much time on my homework and school work, concluding that it's just a waste of time. Not to discourage anyone from doing their school work as it teaches you to manage your time and become self-disciplined, but taken to an extreme it can become detrimental. My whole life has been oriented around my school work, getting that A+ on all courses and having my face planted firmly on a textbook I could give less fucks about as all I cared was getting the info for the test that would evidently come. It wasn't until a couple months that I said "fuck that" and took Elisha's advice. I confronted some dragons and was honest with myself and my parents. All my time, energy, being was devoted to school work. I would even prioritize it over the gym and reading which contributed to the period of time where I just stopped going so I had more time to study. Now I follow my own path. Do the things I want to do every day, for the most part. At first, I felt like I was letting down my teachers, parents, and myself. But that's so silly once you step back and look at the situation at hand. I got a lot of backlash from my peers once I adopted this attitude. Classmates said I was lazy, slow, arrogant, they got rather frustrated when they asked if I had done a HW or what I thought about a test but answered "I didn't do it" or "I don't care". I won't lie I still do my work and shit even though I don't want to sometimes. I feel like I owe it to my teachers. The most valuable thing for me this past school year has been the repor I've been able to build with all my teachers. And when I first started not doing HW and projects I let them know that I didn't mean disrespect by it as I felt completely dismissing them is rude and disrespectful given the amount of time they spend creating lessons and what not and me just dismissing it would make me a shit student, but hearing Elisha again talk about the subject has made me rethink that. Idk I'm a bit torn but I might just say fuck it to everything now. That's something I have to figure out on my own. Thanks bro as usual. Hopefully one day I can repay everything you've done for me.

      @dr.vonslifeinvesting6485 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I teach 6th grade, my finance class is all about critical thinking. But your right about what typically the education system is. Stay your own path young man. Stay out of the matrix.

    • @joaquib2723
      @joaquib2723 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dr.vonslifeinvesting6485 I'm glad to hear that you try to engage with your students like that. This was two years ago so it's funny going back. Since then l have been in classes that push for that kind of thinking. I've noticed that just about all teachers are more than willing to help when you begin to look for your own answer to things. Crazy how when I wrote that I was fed up with school work and now the amount of work I do is even more taxing. Ended up studying architecture. It's Thanksgiving and I'm here in my studio working on the final project. Gonna be here all weekend too. Pour in 13+ hours on a regular basis. Only difference is that I like the work. It's cool being able to other students while I'm here too. I think there's definitely a period in one's life where you have to be a student. Sit and learn but it has to be driven by your own desire to understand the world and be of some service to it. I think the way we think about education is changing and going to change drastically over the next couple of years or so. Mostly driven by people trying to figure out what it is they really want/want to be doing. Thats a whole conversation though. I guess what I've learned since then is that a part of life is figuring out a purpose for yourself. The most fuffling is being able to be of service to others. But to do that you need to become "more". Studying can help with that. Eh I don't even know what I'm trying to say anymore. Haha. Life is good man. Despite all the struggle. :)

When I started my new job I set boundaries very firmly early on and maybe I went overboard but this created a shit tonne of problems for me and I was getting criticism left right and centre. Then I started to let my guard down and shit got worse, you know when you drop some meat into a piranha tank everyone is taking a little bite at once, that's how my centre felt. Awesome video, Elisha.
    It is a social norm for people to try to get a capable person to complete a task, but there is usually some means of compensation. A great way to build negotiation skills is to either set conditions or
    set a task that the other party would have to complete of equal value or difficulty. This will also present just how willing the other party would be in helping if you were the one asking for a favor. After a while, people will ask less favors of you because they know you would stand firmly on your ground, and they will just go find another Yesman else where, and will only turn to you when it is truly necessary. Being someone's last resort means when you do accomplish their favor, they are most grateful for it.

    i really struggle sometimes with my anger. where i try to stick up for my self i sound like im just really pissed, which i sorta am but dont want to show it. but i do.
    and its almost never personal, i just break, and when i do im a lil bitch that cant go through with it because i know i look dumb reacting over nothing. it reflects im insecure.
    i mainly get angry being talked down to or someone is taking the piss.but its fine most of the time, i just have moments where im so flustered in the situation i dont know how to react because everyone is looking at me and then i look weak and stupid.
    any advice anyone?
    im not an angry person but when i am i feel even more annoyed i cant express it in the moment or laugh about it.

      Aqua Fever If you can recognize when you’re in a situation like that, take a deep breath and take that time to ground yourself. You’ll feel like you’re taking a long time to respond but that’s just in your head bro.

      Focus really intently on saying the words without any hint of emotion.
      Try and try again until you get it.
      When you can speak without any emotion at all, then you will be heard. Then you will have power. Then you will be an adult.
      Now, I must clarify: the best way to speak without emotion is to actually have no emotion when you speak.
      Simply decide and communicate your decision. Emotionless. Calm. Commanding. Direct. Matter-of-factly.
      If they ask you whether you are sure, do not get emotional. Merely restate yourself with gentle confidence. Use even less words the second time than the first. Refuse to explain.

    This rings so true right now, lats Tuesday me and the girl I was dating had sex, very high level of attraction, she had to be somewhere and she said: promise me you'll come over on Thursday. I knew in the moment that I should have said no, but i said yes anyways. What happened on Thursday? Barely any kissing, a few pecs, now the past few days its been bad, level of attraction seems really low, shes basically ignoring me. Go with your gut. Never make compromises for someone else when it doesn't feel right.

      Nikolas Wilson Play the game to get her back, act busy, ditch her on your next rendez-vous, &Kill it on the one after with a nice restaurant or something &a good movie when yoi get home (go back to normal afterwards, but stay true to the game)
      Don't expect her to become your girlfriend though, doesn't look like a keeper, her loving game is masculine if you see what I mean.
      She got you first shot with her 😸 trap, she thinks she captured you. Prove her wrong but don't go too hard or she'll leave.
      Hope you keep hitting that thang ✌🏽
