      @@almaslakhani6693 there is no answer, and the fact we are both here trying to figure out how with this TH-cam video shows we are aware and want to change. And thats really good and positive. I think it is just becoming stronger. And learning about ourselves more. Only you know yourself and only you need to understand yourself. Just find that. Because it is so disheartening when you want to be fixed and make the same 'mistakes'. Just see every emotion as a test and as an opportunity to grow and become stronger. Be proud youre trying and look back at how far you have come even if it is little things. Just know your feelings and emotions are valid and you will get through it. All the best Almas

      If you keep spitting negative Bullshit to yourself of course your body will react with a heavy dose of emotions. You may believe your body is worthless but it has a mind of its own. Think to yourself positively and with admiration...you'll see your body do justice for you. think of it like how you treat a pet... you don't give love or feed it. it wont listen. same goes for your body.

    Summary: You choose how to interpret the external stimulus. The way you interpret is the thing that determines whether you feel bad or good. It's true, you get triggered in the moment and it may hurt, but you can ease the pain by choosing a positive way to interpret what has happened.

Besides, by being attached to a mortal human you chose the consequencss. There are also historical examples of people remaining unaffected by strong stimuli that would be emotionally devastating, like news of their child's death. And that changes ur whole lifestyle and your whole energy, and the whole way you carry urself though life. I lost it too. But i dont think you can loose ut because it's not s physical thing. I think somewhere along we adopt other mindsets over time without being aware of it. And that changes feelings and actions over time. But when i know who i used to be i only think about that i want to be that person but thats not good. And it feels like you can't get that back. Weed is not the best tool.
      It’s a psychotic/hallucinogenic. It causes depression in the long run. If you have anxiety it will make it worse. It helps some, but for others it can make some permanently mentally unstable. That’s is also the reason why it’s being so regulated. Talking from experience and being a psychology student.

      I understand you. Infact like you from time to time I smoke as well and it has helped me (dive deep within my head), but when my depression and anxiety got really bad and almost borderline, I went into psychosis and just the PARANOIA. That is the true reason why I am trying to put this disclaimer out there. In this day and age everyone is trying to smoke weed and you got these young kids and impressionable people watching and reading these comments and I don’t want them absorbing this information incorrectly and using it irresponsibly. After that psychotic break, weed is something I’m quite defensive about.

      If you have perfect peace with god internally (god being the universe, balance and perfect harmony of the world) then, nothing external can change your state of being, as you are in perfect peace. Therefore we should not feel emotions, just peace. All emotions are a sign of weakness because you haven't found god yet and you are living in this false reality instead of the reality in which you are one with everything (everything being god).

      If we want something, then you will have the exsperiance of just wanting so everything he's suggesting will be of no help and you will sighn up to a class pay alot of money. It's cheaper to buy the book The MAGIC.

    Believe in yourself. Back yourself. Be your own Cheerleader. Be your best friend. Respect & Treat your mind/body well with regular meals (every 2-3 hrs) of healthy foods, correct portions, activity and regular sleep. This helps your mind/body feel calm and relaxed because your basic needs are met - (exactly like when playing SIMS3). When feeling out-of-sorts: have a hot shower; Have a nap; Take yourself for a walk in the sunshine; distract yourself with a movie; hug a velvet cushion and wrap yourself in a velvet throw rug; give yourself a pep-talk; lay down with a picnic blanket on the lawn and watch the clouds and hear the sounds of nature. You may notice that these self-soothing options, bring you into the present moment (ok not the movie) I am sure there are many more ideas out there that you can think of - especially stuff that works for you.... share please

My life hasn't exactly been the happiest so with every bad thing that happened in my life I started to feel less and less until my emotions were almost completely gone. I'm very empathic and also used to suffer from crippling social anxiety... I didn't have anyone at the time to tell me how to handle it, so I used techniques I learned from watching a video years ago about "immersion therapy"... Basically if something bothers you, if you're scared of something... step by step, and it may take time, but you push yourself towards it. Mine was signing up for a class, but I had to do it myself. HOW do I do that when I'm terrified of talking to people?
      I thought about it.. one day I meant to go do it. I talked myself into it, psyched myself into it... and failed. I threw up and stayed home instead.
      Second time, maybe a week layer... again, psyched myself into going and doing it. I actually left the house... but I ended up walking around a park near the area, trying to calm my nerves, having a panic attack.
      Third time... showed up there.. walked around the block panicking... then something amazing happened. It wasn't very busy, but low and out of no where, from across the way I saw someone else open the door and go in. I followed.
      I have NEVER looked back. It's been a slow road, but that first step felt incredible.

    • @Yotrymp
      @Yotrymp 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's been a year, but I think it's reasonable to assume you're still dealing with this, since it's usually a lifetime battle.
      Find things to do with people. Like some kind of hobby, not just random gossip (which can especially turn toxic when anxieties get in the mix), more like something with a clear goal. You'll have more ease talking about things outside of your real experience, and will later move towards more personal thoughts if you make friends with those people. After a while, you'll learn to generally "be yourself" without the cover of talking mostly about one hobby or interest. Doesn't mean all conversations will improve, but you'll start having a lot of better ones, and better gauge how a conversation is going and be more in control of your situation. And the biggest tip of all: listen more than you talk (whenever possible). There's countless reasons for this.
      For being too empathetic, think more about what you CAN do and not what you SHOULD do when you want to help people. It lifts a burden and will let you help more than you could have before, or at least not be so stressed out.
      None of it is easy, but a little effort here and there and you'll notice a few years later that you've improved a whole lot.

    Hmm I always understood that you don't have to make negative thoughts positive per se, you just have to not believe (care about) the negative thoughts. The problem lays with the fact that when we believe those negative thoughts they create an emotion. If you have a thought but don't believe it (or don't care about it), it won't create a negative emotion.

      I dont think its healthy either to suppress those emotions but what we're doing here ultimately I think is that we're learning to break our thinking habits and thought patterns which alters our emotions eventually it might become habitual and its not suppressed .if I'm correct if the filter changes the negative emotions become less therefore there are less negative emotions and that is not suppressing , I guess its eradicating.

But the moment im depressed, even though i "know" in my brain whats happening, it's impossible to act on it.
    I try so much but i cannot change that state of hyperactivity in my mind and thoughts causing such suffering. Still even through that, i KNOW in my brain whats going on and what i should do,i know all the theory but cannot apply it. its very frustrating how numb i am. i can't change it or effect it at all until it fades on its own.I tried letting it get to me without resistance. just let the depression be as it is. but i need to get rid of it. what can i do when in that state of mind???

      Instead of seeing it as something you don’t have, see it as something you can gain and achieve.
      When it comes to people, understand that everyone has good and bad, NO ONE is perfect even though it may seem like it. It only seems like it because the negative in that has yet to be revealed and because often times when we desire something and see someone else with it our perception of that person changes and sees them for more than what they actually are, it tricks our brains to put higher value on that person because our inner desire has put value on it. Guess what, you have something that that other person doesn’t have just as they might has something you don’t. You both have something and both lack something. Just because what they have is different does not by any means make them in any way better.

    One thing is not true from the neurological point of view: "Emotions come as a result of thoughts". Just the opposite is the case! Our emotional responses are being formed in Amygdala in our brain BEFORE we can think about them!!! Otherwise we will never be able to fight or to flee in danger.

    • @AndrewLewisHowe
      @AndrewLewisHowe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      YES!! This is absolutely true! In fact, it's the amygdala that is damaged during formative years through abuse that contributes to (or causes) conditions like borderline personality disorder, anxiety, depression, etc. In later years, trauma manifests itself more often in PTSD / CPTSD. There's likely a genetic component in the mix as well - one may be more predisposed to those conditions given certain environments and stimuli.
      The emotions come first, but since the amygdala is SO quickly responsive (it controls the fight or flight response) one may look at it's response as a pre-emotion. It reacts as fast as your hand does when you put it on the hot stove top - it reacts faster then your conscious mind can interpret.
      So the step-by-step is this:
      1) something bad occurs
      2) the amygdala gets triggered causing you to suddenly be amped up by brain chemicals
      3) you respond by running away, or fighting, or be left with a massive feeling of anxiety if the situation doesn't allow you to run or fight
      4) you respond in a way non-conducive to the results you want (you'll cry or yell or blame, etc)
      Through understanding this man's message, along with some kind of cognitive therapy training, you can interject your conscious mind between steps two and three. If you train yourself, you can recognize when your amygdala is activated and halt your natural response to it's activation. After a while, you can train your amygdala to no longer respond in such a knee-jerk manner.
      Understanding what this man is saying is part of the solution, but not the whole solution. Thus he's got other videos.
      One of the interesting things is his discussion on cheating. A tough topic. Nobody wants a cheater. He makes it seem like you can train yourself to just say "meh, whatever" if you get cheated on, and simply move forward. However, something like cheating flies 100% in the face of our ideal relationship. If it happens too many times (as it has for me), you end up with a world view that every woman cheats (as it did for me).
      I was able to get past my fear of cheaters only by finally being with a woman who didn't cheat for long enough to rebuild my faith in the female gender.
      Good luck, everyone. This is tough stuff. It's important stuff though. I wish this kind of thing was taught in our public schools because it would massively make the world a smoother, easier place to live, and would greatly reduce the amount of suffering in our adult population.
      I'm working through CPTSD, anxiety, depression, and possibly some flavor of the personality disorder spectrum. It all can be completely overwhelming. I hate it. I have good days and bad days. Some where I can compartmentalize my emotional responses, and some when I cannot.
      I've found meditation, even as poorly as I do it, is helpful. Mindfullness and grounding is more helpful in the moment (take a moment to stop your brain and feel the earth with your feet or watch the way the leaves move in the breeze - it can help short circuit negative thought). Training my brain not to dwell on matters is helpful, too, but sometimes the hardest thing to do when a lot is at stake.
      I've also discovered in my life that marijuana is NOT helpful for me. It seems to create a dopamine-free brain inside my skull that really decreases my ability to respond with emotional maturity. Brain chemistry plays a role, and unlike many people, marijuana was making my brain chemistry worse. Actually, the same thing went for anything that activated my dopamine response system: sweets, alcohol, porn. Physical exercise also totally helped me get better with my emotional control and responses.
      LOL. It's weird and sad, but for me to be happy I have to put in physical work and remove many things from my life that MAKE many others happy.

    • @user-th3de
      @user-th3de 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AndrewLewisHowe I disagree with you step by step model. The first step is "something bad happens". In order for something to be "bad" we must have conditioned thoughts or beliefs about it which cause us to perceive that event negatively or in the case of fight or flight, perceive it as a threat. So my point is, this reaction is not a direct result of the situation but our interpretation of it, which ultimately we are responsible for.

    • @AndrewLewisHowe
      @AndrewLewisHowe 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@user-th3de Absolutely. I guess my point is that the amygdala can be 'trained' to see something as bad. So we have this primal reaction/interpretation that occurs in the lower brain. When that occurs, it can trigger things like 'fight or flight' which can then disable higher brain functions from being able to analyze what's really going on. In short, our lower brain can over-react and knock our cognitive thinking skills out of play.
      Which is why various therapies can work to 'retrain' our gut reactions/interpretations. Cognitive based therapies can only go so far if we've not retrained our interpretations as a lower level.

All these initiate a hormonal response in your brain that combats depression and anxiety. It doesn't happen over night, you have to choose to be happy and make the right choices. What about sitting in sadness, being vulnerable, and letting the feelings be? At least for a bit? Sounds more grounded and mature to include at least some of that. No?

    I have Started to pay much attention how I respond to situations and how they affect my outlook. I thank you for sharing this. In return to a negative thought, I do three positive affirmation to allow positivity to take over. Our biggest enemy is our thoughts, let's fill the empty space with positivity and love. Blessings to everyone one who is in the self awareness journey and those who are intentionally working to speak to themselves in a loving way. Namaste 🙏🏽

    Can I say I love you???😭 Thank you!!🙌🏽🙌🏽 you’re so right. I needed THIS. This is gold😍 omg. All you have to do is listen people!!! Lol practice doing exactly what he is saying and you’ll see! Our thoughts control our emotions!!🤩 Everything he is saying is valid. I physically felt pain this morning from my “heartbreak” and now am much more realistic and am literally choosing to not allow this to destroy me. Thank you so much for this!!!!!😘

    Leo - sometimes the emotion happens very quickly and takes over us completely. When we're "inside" the emotion it can be difficult to see we're creating it because it takes on an almost concrete reality and we feel justified in our emotion. In my experience, accepting an emotion without trying to change it can make it pass quicker. If we try to reframe it, we can sometimes feel like we're fooling ourselves and that can make us feel worse. Maybe sometimes it's best just to sit with an emotion until it passes. Also, an emotion can sometimes carry useful information to us (e.g. loneliness might indicate I need to go out more, anxiety might indicate I need to exercise more etc).

      That is why it's necessary to develop consciousness. So that you can not get caught up in emotions when you don't want to. Emotions aren't the enemy. The problem exits only when your emotions got you by the balls. Yes, emotions can be signals, but most people get so caught up they miss the signal entirely.

      Actualized.org Thanks for the reply Leo. What you say fits very well with the Tolle book I'm currently studying. Bringing neutral awareness (consciousness) to a strong emotion and it will dissipate.

      ***** Yes, emotions aren't a problem without thoughts.

      ***** First it is the thoughts about a particular circumstance or stimuli that causes us to feel emotions, then our thoughts about the emotions themselves can amplify the emotions or create a perpetual cycle unless we choose to break it. The cycle can be good or bad, but it's important to filter the stimuli to put yourself on an upward trajectory as opposed to random fluctuations that get you nowhere!

    This is the best video ever.. I never knew I had permission to feel however I want to, we get so conditioned to feeling a certain way due to what happens to us that it never crossed my mind that I don't actually have to feel that way.. thanks alot because I've been struggling with this for a long time, I've been trying to find a way to kill my emotions because I didnt know where they came from

    Sometimes you hear something for the hundredth time and it just clicks. All the Tony Robbins, the Jack Canfields, myriad hours on self-improvement - and then I meet LEO through TH-cam and it gels. It's his style, the fact he went through it himself, and his use of the word FUCK appropriately that has me trusting him and believing him more than even Wayne Dyer. I LOVE YOUR STUFF, LEO! Bless you for your humanity!
