This is actually a thing that has had a huge impact on my life. Back when I used to live with my parents, I was the only one on the house that was able to keep cool (my siblings always lost it) and even when my father yelled at me I just watched him go with no reaction what so ever and he would mentally collapse every time he would try to yell at me. After a while he never got mad at me anymore because he could not get a reaction. This is some powerfull shit! Also I love my dad.
Bruh, Thank the Universe, I've been needing a reminder, dang, dude, it always shows up at the Right Time, The Message Delivers Alwayz Precise.Preciated Elisha, Thank You Big Dawg.
I relate so much with the manager situation. I have never blowed up on my manager and as a result I seem to get the most respect out of everyone in the restaurant because of my stoic personality, and calm demeanor
my asian mom was like this growing. Hearing someone else just eventually break down gives me a sense of relief and helps reflect back and process actually happened
I'm 16 and do this. Now coming from a family of bad temper it's sometimes hard to do. But when I stay calm they eventually stop and ask "why do you never have any emotion or reaction to anything?" And they ask that because I'm a generally quiet person to begin with and look as if I'm always just "meh" and speak with a monotone voice. Now people whom I am close with don't think that about me, but do hate it when they get mad at me and I still remain calm.
This is very relevant to me at the moment because of similar problems at work (merger). My ability to control emotions and be non-reactive has been drained. Thanks for posting this.
Seeing your boss stutter and be embarrassed after responding to their controlling behavior with peace and respect is the GREATEST feeling on the planet.
Much gratitude for the lovely poem by Rudyard Kipling. I’d also like to share this one - Isaiah 53 New International Version (NIV) peace be with you all, Brethren
Elisha. you are 100% right about keeping your cool as that is the way to take control of any situation, when you react or over react you lose your advantage...... Ps sorry to hear what happened to you guys as kids. i know you tried to brush it off and make light of it, but that is some serious stuff you are talking about and it has to affect you. Sending man hugs from the UK bro.. Tony T.
Holy sh!t this stuff is just way too good. Haven't had a good laugh in awhile. Thanks for making these vids bro! They're hilarious, and contain alot of wisdom if applied! Thank you for your teaching Elisha.
I haven’t watched one of your vids in awhile. I lost track of all the great things I had been doing and implementing into my life to benefit me. I’ve been planning to get back to it and to continue to change my life and your videos help me with that so thanks man seriously.
So true they get confused when you do stuff like that. I would just sit there and not cry or anything and my Dad would just get so pissed off he'd just get tired after a while
Shit man you made me spit my soup when acting out how you played the fool with your dad XD. Also loved the "crying baby" and the "keep going crazy girl face". Legendario !
Keep up tha videos dawg, sometimes I need to be convinced in doin' tha right thing but it's hard due to some personality traits of mine. Long story short, keep up being tha realist u are
Elisha, do a video about drinking. I need advice bad. My dad told me never to do so, but I wanted to see for myself. Not to be a degenerate, just to try it. now I'm more comfortable doing it, but he still asks me occasionally if I do. But he told me he doesn't want to know about it. Quite the predicament, and I don't want to become an alcoholic.
Thank you for another great video Elisha, you're definitely one of my favourite youtubers. I also have a request, being human yourself could you make a video on some of your flaws and how you plan on improving these and your plans and goals for your future? I think this would be an interesting video! But anyways man thank you for another great video, peace ! ✌
I got a relatable story. I was in a poker tournament a little bit ago. I was in control for most of the tournament. I was chip leader. I made it to the final 10 out of 100 players. I was in a groove. Then, the power began to slip away. I could feel I was on a downward slope after a couple lost hands. But instead of accepting this ebb and flow, I got greedy and desperate to hold on to the control I had over the game. And I blew all my chips in two hands. I busted out, but I learned an important lesson. When you realize you're out of position or the power is not on your lap anymore, the best strategy is complete submission. Rather than fight and resist to regain control, recognize that the torch has passed and bide your time til the torch comes back around to you.
@@ElishaLong Sorry again. Haha. I meant the poem "if" by Rudyard Kipling as a poster. store.artofmanliness.com/collections/best-sellers/products/rudyard-kipling-if-poster

*If you can keep your head when all about you, Are losing theirs and blaming it on you*
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream-and not make dreams your master;
If you can think-and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings-nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And-which is more-you’ll be a Man, my son!
