Woodturning with Crown Revolution Tools | Mark Sangers hollowing techniques | Stratos FU-230

The British wood turner Mark Sanger explains in detail how to work with the Revolution Tool from Crown. The tool is suitable for hollowing out pieces of end-grain wood. It has a "Super Ring", this is a cutting blade. The Rev. Tool can also be equipped with scraper plates. Also bowl gouges and other Crown Tools fit into the heavy handle of the largest version of the Revolution Tool.

With the sharpening MDF disc, he said the face has 600 grit wet n dry sandpaper, is the edge of the disc the same abrasive? I'd like to make one for myself.

Hi, thanks for your question: The wheel is moisture resistant MDF and the outside is left natural MDF surface as it is abrasive so ideal for honing. Mark applies honing paste/compound to the outside edge and finishes on this.

I’ve been using the large system for about a year. The bar rattles in the handle; not too great in hard dry wood, except the scraper. I’ve noticed all the demonstrations are with soft wood. Try it on some dry, hardwood. It is a different story. Excellent instruction though!

It will cut, sure, but it's really made for hollowing. You should use regular tools for spindle work
