  • How to Install a AC/Heater Blend Door Actuator on 2015 to 2018 Ford F 150.
    After searching online to no luck on how to replace the 2015 to 2018 Ford F150 how to Install a AC/Heater Blend Door Actuator, I decided to make the best video I could make for those with the same problem as I.
    From what I have learned on the 2015 - 2018 Ford F150 have 3 different AC/Heater Blend Door Actuator.
    - Left side blend door motor
    - Right side blend door motor
    - Air inlet door motor AKA recirc
    Here is the link I found for this information.
    www.svtperform...
    I replaced the Left side blend door door actuator.
    My 2016 Ford F150 Lariat AC/Heater worked fine except it would only blow out of the front vents.
    After replacing the Left side blend door door actuator the air blows out of Defrost, front panel and floor as it should.

    I haven't had any problems with adjusting my temperature or driver to passenger air/temperature mixture.
    It is obvious I'm not a professional mechanic, so feel free to comment below if you like the video or have an idea to make it an easier replacement.
    Thank you for watching & don't forget to subscribe!

    Scheduled with the ford dealership said they needed to keep my truck for two days and 10 hours labor with a complete dashboard removal. Part was 25 bucks. Took me two hours to get the old one off and the new one on. Saved at least one to thousand doing it myself. Thanks for the video

    Great video! Was a pain to get at but so worth the time and knowledge gained. Just a tip make sure you line up new gear with where the old gear broke. If you plug in and turn on the truck while cycling through the settings on the venting you can move the actuator to where it was previously set. This will keep things within normal settings. Thanks again!

    Taking part of the dash and the metal piece off the way you showed is the only way I got it done on my 2017 Lariat. What a pain, worse part I've ever changed out. I did mine without taking any paneling or anything off. It was a pain in the ass. Drop a screw and good luck finding it. My vent transitions were still slightly off but after disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes it recalibrated and works like a champ. Make sure to plug in the actuator before installing it so that where its actually blowing matches the button to contol it. You have to manually line up the door with the included tool that comes with the actuator.

    I did not remove anything and was able to reach. I did use a t20 bit and 1/4 in socket adapter as the t20 screwdriver didn’t have much room. Mine also didn’t want to fit. I had to hook up the new part to the wires and push the floor/front blower buttons to get the gears in the right position. That was the position mine had been stuck in.

    Thanks for the video I have a 2016 F 150 Lariat as well and my defrost and floor vents do not blow heat or air out. Went out at the end of wintertime this year. The dealership said until they looked at it they wouldn't be able to tell which one it was. So, I wonder if this could be the one wrong on mine. I have heat and air coming out of vents in the front of dash. Going to let my brother know about this since he is going to be my mechanic. The dealership cost per hour and depending on which one it is the service tech said could get pricey. Not to mention a way-out date to look at it to see then order the part.

      @@DizzyDrone well, thank you. I appreciate your video and would have attempted the replacement if the actuator needing replacing was accessible to me. Long, but a common story: Anyway, my Ford service guy said there's only 1 actuator that's behind the dash (air airbags) not 3. AND like some of the other comments below...The actuator $145 with 10 hours labor at $160/hour for a total of $1,800+ tax. As it turns out, I purchased the extended warranty and it covers all but $160+ tax. So, I left my truck with them for 3 days expecting the "special lube designed especially for Ford F150 ONLY", that costs $47 for 2 oz and a 62 cent bolt (parts to be ordered) would have arrived by Wednesday...still had not arrived by Friday afternoon. The guy offered to get me a loaner for Friday -Monday...However, he never called me back to confirm a loaner was authorized...It was then I said, "I'll take my truck back, and when your order the parts, AND the parts come in, you give me a call and you schedule the appointment to replace it (2 days). It's not as if my truck was n't operable. It's just I live in the mountains and it snows and is cold...The funny, NOT funny part is when they brought my truck around to me the F'ING HEATER WAS ON AND WORKING. It's no wonder people hesitate, and are distrusting of dealership service departments. I thank you again for the video. 👍

    hey there, I have done this process about 15 times now due to the buttons that I am clicking and where the air is actually blowing. I bought an OEM actuator and there is an arrow with a 0 and an arrow on the gear sticking out which i am assuming is the factory reset point and where it should be lined up. I am manually moving the gears inside that the piece is controlling to line them all up. I have also pulled to #15 fuse on the passenger side to do a reset on the system. What mode did you have it in when you turned off the truck? Did it all just line up for you? I am having trouble "calibrating" this to match and work correctly. Thanks

    • @DizzyDrone
      @DizzyDrone  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seems like I had to use my hand to slide the gear arm back and forth underneath the dashboard until it would slide smoothly into the new actuator. Mine sill makes a clicking noise when changing floor to vents Ext…, in the cold weather. I’m not sure which setting it was on when I installed it.
      Hope this helps!

      Might have to do a recalibration to the system. Might try removing the fuse mentioned. The correct way is to use a scanner. Their are a total of (4) actuators. LH temp control, RH temp control, Mode control, and recirculate (max) (fresh-air). You changed the mode control. The others are located 1-behind radio, 1-right hand side, I beleive the recirculate actuator you actually have to pull the dash to change that one.

    • @pher2222
      @pher2222 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nothing changed for me when I replaced it at first. I had to remove it, leave it connected, turn the truck on and manually adjust the gears until air was coming out the vents as the control showed. I then fit the actuator in place and everything works perfect.

      @mrbarton20101 ปีที่แล้ว

      So that's where I'm at, weirdly enough when I replaced the actuator (without taking anything apart like he did, you can get to it) it worked for a few minutes... next time I started the truck I could hear the actuator running and kind of grinding. Now I'm stuck on front vents only again. I didn't think of leaving the actuator plugged in, hitting the button, then putting the gear to floor or whatever. Hoping it's not a further electrical issue causing my actuators to go out
