I loved all of these Zentangles! I also love that in your videos you admit when you are struggling with something or making mistakes. As an "imperfect" artist I appreciate seeing everyone else is going through it as much as I am.

Stunning pieces!! 🥰 I think I like the tube the most, but your biggest piece is amazing!! 😮 I'm such a color bug that I would have to color in the zentangle!! 🌈😂 Sorry you got hit with Covid, but I'm glad you recovered well!! 🤗

We are our worst critics especially when it comes to art. All your pieces turned out to be lovely! 🤩

They all look great. I like the 90 minute one most, the white on black is just so striking. I think I could easily spend way more than 9 minutes just thinking before starting something so I think it's pretty impressive you got as much down as you did for that one :)
I've heard some people refer to this kind of art as "zen doodling" .. not being limited to the 'official' zentangle patterns and structure but still very much about exploring repetitive patterns and shapes and letting it happen without getting too caught up in making something perfect. I think that last part is something lots of us struggle with!

While I was still in school, I picked up mehndi styles -- that is, the art style associated with classic henna tattoos -- for doodling in class, witch ended up being a first draft of a few different pieces that I think count more as zen tangles. I think it would pair really well with what you've already got in terms of style here.

Absolutely loved all three. Really thought the 90 mins was cool but that 900 mins one was superb 👌🏻

I've just watched this video and very impressed with your work. I'm a Sarah Renae Clark member and many of her followers talk about you so I thought I'd give your channel a go. But. I just wanted to say something about Zentangle. Another commenter further below has mentioned this but I thought I'd expand. Zentangle is a trade marked name for the method of drawing patterns. Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts developed this method 20 years ago this year. In fact we are celebrating that with something special. I am a Certified Zentangle Teacher - one of quite a few around the country - based in Melbourne. So what you've done here is more zen doodling. Which was stunning. There's a bit more to the method though and if you'd like to know more I'd be very happy to spend some time showing you, personally, the intricacies.

Clever using the roller blind!!! I really love all of these. Seeing the full size 900 minute one sparked joy. It really is gorgeous! But I really appreciate the 9 minute one as well, as seeing something smaller is less intimidating.
I've never drawn my own zentangle, but I've just gotten in some new gel pens so I might play around in my sketch book!

I love zentangles. They're so relaxing to not only draw but to color as well.
I love your design too. I wouldn't have thought to put zentangles inside a shape of a paintbrush like that. More just fill it around another shape of wavy lines and all. I used to do this with henna ink all the time.

@@aussiecrafter I haven't heard about that I'll have to look into it thank you so much for sharing ❤️ my kids can sing nursery rhymes but they're irrelevant like when my daughter is angry she sings I love you rather than a song about being angry... remember that your not only an amazing artist but a beautiful soul and an incredible mama too ❤️

I really like that final piece! Something that might help if you decide to draw on that type of canvas again is to coat it with clear gesso first. That will give the markers & paint something better to stick to since the vinyl is so smooth.

Thanks Di, these are lovely- process and product. The term that Maria and Rick (originators of Zentangle) use is tangling rather than zentangling. They are all about process, although their product is usually gorgeous too. I think that what you did today would be called ZIA, zentangle inspired art as usually tangling is supposed to be unplanned and non- representative. Lots of artists sell beautiful ZIA like yours, it is a truly lovely art form. I would love to see you explore this further.

I liked the 90 min one. If you look at zentangle images, they are generally pretty full, not a lot of negative space. I think pre-planning the final long image kind of goes against the principle of zentangles, and took a lot of unnecessary time (your first 2 spontaneous ones were great).

  • @ArtisticKatz

These are great, I am currently filling in a sketchbook and one of my last pages was a zentangle page. It’s very therapeutic to create and anything goes.

It's ok. You don't have to be a big fan of the first zentangle. Because I am! I wonder what you do with artwork you don't like? Do you ever hang your art at your school? I bet they'd love it there.

    • @aussiecrafter
      @aussiecrafter  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

No, I never take my art to school. I do show some of the kids pictures of it sometimes. When I don't like something, I tend to get rid of it. Except for pieces I can learn from, like trash Cinderalla.

I love your zentangles, it’s so pretty! I’ve tried zentangle doodles a few times but pretty much run out of patience and things just end up looking very wonky and unpolished

Wow all of your Zentangles looked interesting and really cool! I love watching you and how you're planing on your pad! I also tried zentangling before, buuut... I felt very lost because when it comes to patterns I'm suddenly completely blank and I don't know what to do xD So really, respect for pushing through so many zentangles :) And one more thing, I think others have already pointed this out - but I really, really enjoy to watch your thought processes and your problem solving. Nothing is better than watching the real process >w
