Many years ago, probably the 1980’s, there was a $800.00 hammer for the military. It was a standard ball peen, nothing special. The cost was due to the silly tests required to meet certain milspecs. I saw numerous cases where money could have been saved. Every Sept, we’d have to spend whatever excess allocated money we had for the year, if not, we received that much less the follow year. We also had to fly our allocated training hours, and if not, we didn’t get them the following year. Training flight hours were (properly still are) converted into dollars, and if, for instance, the unit was allocated 1500 flight training hours, there was a conversion that equated money. It factored in fuel, parts, replacement equipment, contracted maintenance (routine maintenance was accomplished by military, so it didn’t matter), and our civilian manning. Where it got real difficult is when we had numerous deployments or missions that were funded by someone else. The hours we flew didn’t affect our allocated training hours, so every year we’d have to just go and burn hours. I spent one weekend flying 25 hours and didn’t really do anything, we just had to burn the hours. I remember being deployed and needing to spend $50,000.00 in about 2 weeks, or we’d lose it the next year. Yep, we did it, and actually purchased things we needed. I retired 20 years ago, and suspect the same thing still happens.
They buy hammers from companies and other tools for 800 dollars because then those companies make super high tech shit for us. Do you still believe that something that was made in the 90s like the b2 stealth bomber is the most expensive thing we have in the military and still the most advanced craft? We can’t let congress or even the senate know what we are making and we sure as shit can’t tell the people because if we did then all our enemies would know about it as well. To put it simply we have to create loop holes in the budget to not show our hand because if we do we lose tactical advantage over the enemy.
Ronnie Reagan was president then and he nothing about it. All he did was deregulate the banking system which cost tax payers billions if not trillions of dollars to straighten that Reagan fiasco out.
The problem with Government entities is they don't have to make a profit of their own accord. The money still rolls in even from the worst results. All anyone has to do is go down to the Dept. of motor vehicles and you can recognize the attitude that they have no "customers". They think we are there to do THEIR bidding. I spent my working life in communications. One government contract for comm gear had an error rate requirement of less that 1 bit error per million bytes to the 16 power. A rule was instituted that first we had to get the MSR's (material safety data sheets) for all chemicals, then get rid of all chemicals with a number over one. That rule crippled the shop for almost all activities in the shop. Then another rule was instituted that we had to have the list of the chemicals with amounts placed in the hazardous chemical locker...none of which were hazardous and if they were; then that is exactly the wrong place to have the list and inventory. The list could be burnt up and the fire people wouldn't have the key to the locker. Oh yes, water was considered to be a hazardous chemical by the authorities.

In 2024, the U.S. federal government's projected revenue from taxes and other sources is approximately $5 trillion. With the federal government spending around $303.8 billion on civilian employee salaries and another significant amount on military personnel, the combined salaries for both military and civilian employees likely approach or exceed $500 billion in total. When we combine these figures, the total salaries represent approximately 10% of the federal government's annual revenue from taxes and other sources. This includes both military and civilian personnel expenditures, which form a critical part of the government's operating expenses, alongside other budgetary commitments like Social Security, Medicare, and infrastructure. The government's total spending exceeds its revenue, resulting in deficits, and personnel costs are part of this broader financial structure.

Yes, all men are corruptible, including Elon and Trump, and would most certainly turn a bit ugly if they went a few decades uncontested (*cough* bush/clinton *cough*), but they have a few advantages: 1) They aren't uncontested. They are thoroughly and publicly scrutinized and criticized every step of the way. TheDonald reddit and it's successors are MUCH more critical of Trump than the Politics reddit towards Kamala. 2) They care about things other than politics and money. The politics is just a necessary chore they have to get out of the way to do what they really want - space for Elon, good deals for Trump. (One of the keys to Trumps success is that he cares more about the deals than the money. The money is the byproduct, not the goal, which leads to a more stable mindset.) 3) Even if we assume they are equally as bad as the entrenched bureaucracy, them competing with entrenched interests will waste time and energy on infighting that would otherwise be directed to exploit the people. As an analogy, the crime in a city is much hard to dig out when there is one gang as opposed to two competing gangs.

@@AbadonBIack One could say the exact same thing about Democrats as well.

You can disagree with them all you want, but you have to admit their decisions are based in what they think will help the most people, while Republicans make the decision based on what benefits them most at a time. It's the difference between collectivism and individualism. If you asked a Democrat if they'd be okay with getting a 10% tax so long as everyone got free healthcare who needed it, they'd say yes. If you asked a Republican, they'd say "Why should I pay for someone else's healthcare?" Even if it meant they'd save money in the long run too.

Pros and Cons.
That happens in the UK as well. If you don't spend it you will lose it! Ludicrous way to overspend when you don't need to.
Try running a company like that in the private sector and see how long it lasts.
I spent my working life in communications. One government contract for comm gear had an error rate requirement of less that 1 bit error per million bytes to the 16 power. One of our guys applied that to a T1 (high speed at the time) and calculated that running at 100% it would take over a 1,000 years to push that amount of data to prove reliability. As someone who’s worked at every level of government in this country, that is just not true

Yes, all men are corruptible, including Elon and Trump, and would most certainly turn a bit ugly if they went a few decades uncontested (*cough* bush/clinton *cough*), but they have a few advantages:
1) They aren't uncontested.
The money is the byproduct, not the goal, which leads to a more stable mindset.)
3) Even if we assume they are equally as bad as the entrenched bureaucracy, them competing with entrenched interests will waste time and energy on infighting that would otherwise be directed to exploit the people. As an analogy, the crime in a city is much hard to dig out when there is one gang as opposed to two competing gangs.
It's been like that for decades. Eisenhower warned about it on his way out. And, yes - of all the possible oligarchs - I'd rather trust Elon to do stuff that is, on average, better for this nation.

The facist government of ‘Israel’ is committing genocide against the native Palestinians. And as American taxpayers, we are supposed to sit idle and accept that we are indirectly paying for it?
I absolutely agree! As a Christian I cannot condone abortions and as a taxpayer I cannot fund it. Of course, an individual should be free to choose as they like but they shouldn't try and make me the taxpayer pay for it when it violates my religious beliefs. That is incredibly immoral.
You are absolutely right I live in Canada and I want the same thing they are using our money for their pleasure we have a real TRUDOLPH in our home land and he is destroying us.I pray for our country and yours and I am seeing some real good men trying to make a better and prosperous country for you guys bless you all 😎✌🏻🇨🇦
Both Kennedy and Trump have suggested we use blockchain technology to track of government spending. This will allow the books to be open for review by the citizens.
Agreed. Everything within the government should be public. So any one can go through the accounts and check.
I worked as a contractor for the Small Business Administration. I was in the PPE Loans department, checking on loans that had less than 1% interest and given to small businesses after disasters, mainly Catrina.
Some loans hadn't been even looked at for over a decade. It was amazing how delinquent many of the loans were.
The department manager used to joke when we would get locked up and have to just sit at our desks, doing 0 work, for days on end sometimes, "Well this is what working for the government looks like!!!" The people under government payroll never seemed to have any sweat bead at all while the 2 contractors in the entire department, we would be worried we'd be axed at anytime, (we were)
The amount of tax dollars that were being engulfed in flames was insanity to me. Pure insanity.
I can't imagine how many other government departments run even worse. It's disgusting. Most government workers don't need to exist
Yes let's keep bringing common sense back into play. Especially in government. Thanks Elon again, you're brilliant!
"If anyone ran their business like the federal government, they'd be out of business."
They can’t just raise prices of their products, like government does with taxes. If we could just say I’m not buying your tax, i can’t afford it this month it would be great, unfortunately that’s not how it works, they are like the mafia, they will starve you and your family if you don’t pay, they even have guns now to make sure you don’t protest.
He will be amazing government employees should be afraid
We need less government
Don’t cry next time for fema aid then, if you want less government
@David.......agree. Government put more money in their pockets than where required. If funds were NOT stolen, more $$ would be available
@@Iukereigns3460 disband fema
Agree @David... less government, more $$ for services.
@@Iukereigns3460 less government doesn't necessarily mean disband entire branches. it means less involvement and red-taping that hinders innovation and growth. Perfect example - housing permitting.
Fiduciary duty for Government is essential. And punishment for those who don’t needs to be mandatory
Brilliant Elon Musk!!!! Trump 2024
this guy is such a brainless neadnerthaler.
Hello, I want to start investing, but I'm unsure where to start. Do you have any advice or contacts for assistance?
It's prudent to seek expert advice when creating a solid financial portfolio due to its complexities.

YO ELON ----ZERO BASE BUDGETING --- No More Feds THROWING $$$ Out the Window EVERY Q4 and Saying.....
SEE, WE SPENT ALL OUR MONEY from LAST YEAR --- GIVE US MORE ! ! ! --- Easily saves $500 BILLION a year right there !
$500 BIllion???? Ha, just a drop in the bucket according to politicians,
Elon Musk is focused on advancing his own interests, not those of the American people. By using his wealth to influence politics, he aims to secure power that will benefit his businesses and shield himself from legal accountability. His actions prioritize personal gain over the public good, leveraging political influence to increase his profits and protect his interests, rather than addressing the needs of the country.
As oposed to the current administration which does everything it can to better the Americans' lives?
Finally someone has confronted the elephant in the room. It's hiding in plain sight isn't it? These fans of his out here are going to learn real quick what he's really about. He doesn't give .000001 of a f**k about humanity. Not one.
@@DollieConant His net worth already increased by approximately $20 billion since the election.
um proof?
@@DollieConant Sorry, you are talking out of you ass, i only hear a bunch of crap.
He has done alot of costly things, not for himself but for humanity and the planet.
2:48 why was the guy on the microphone cut off??? what did he say???
He is entirely motivated by self-interest he's not an altruist looking out for people... he think people are inferior... he's seeking to replace them.
True. But so is every other smooth talking a-hole in politics and in the billionaires tech bro club that exists in silicon valley. I'd rather have Elon doing the replacing than those other snakes. Especially since there is little choice in the matter being an average Joe.
At least Elon doesn't say it to my face, unlike the past several democratic nominees. (If you even count Kamala as a nominee...)
Elon's self interest is a lot more compatible with my self interest than the majority of politicians.
His self interest is on space, with everything else being a chore aimed towards that goal. He's not seeking power for the sake of power, he's not seeking a safe tenure, he's not hoarding his wealth (he's spending it on space and tech.)
Compare to your average politician, whose self interest is in political control, with any actual governance being a chore aimed at more political control. At least that's how it seems to be for any politician who stays in power - all the good ones get burnt out, kicked out, or aren't interested in such a loathsome job in the first place.
@@r3dp9 I don't think that's true for all politicians. There are people who simply want better outcomes for people, like better health care. Nothing wrong with that... Politicians are people, systems and institutions do affect them... The deadwood Mitch's of the world are the problem.
Wrong, and he's said quite the opposite and proven it already many times over.
We are so lucky to have Elon Musk as a US citizen because he is a nice guy and a very intelligent one. Peace
great audio. love it
Can't say FELON without "ELON" Just minus the big "F" LOL
Damn, rolling on the floor with how funny that is
Can't say IM AN INDIOT without Michael. Just minus the brain cells LOL
So, to summarize: he would remove any sort of regulation that affects the private company he owns :)
Damn this was the first comment i found about the deregulation, its insane. why is no one talking about this? deregulation can be very bad, especially when u let companies regulate itself.
There are a few examples of the Trump administration deregulating businesses, just look at the NSIS policy (Trump administration's deregulation of pork processing plants). It caused contamination on more worker injuries.
What venue/event was this? I can't find the full address on TH-cam.
Billionaires helping billionaires make more billions. They don't give af about you lmaoo.
Maybe we should fix things on earth before worrying about Mars. Seems counterproductive to us here and the wrong direction for taxpayer's dollars.
Elon Musk focuses on both heaven and earth. Maybe for YOU it is an either-or proposition, but not for him.
The technology and resources that we will use and extract from Mars, the Moon, and the asteroid belt will bring about amazing rewards. The Space Race alone brought us the tech that we use in our everyday lives. If you want to fix the Earth, then you must look beyond it.
@TheRealVenom448 Yes sir, you are correct about the resources. I stand corrected. Will have to figure a way to maintain until then.
People like you will try to make sure we don't get to Mars. What do YOU do? Don't tell other people what they should dream of and work on and spend THEIR money on! You would tell Einstein to go plow a field!
Totally understand your mind set. Nasa spent around 50 billion on SLS (Heavy lift Rocket for Moon) and Orion (Space Capsule) in the last 15 years or so and we have a giant rocket that cost around a billion to launch and is not reusable. With Elon 1 billion dollars equalls like 100 starships that are even reusable. When Genius arise in human history its important to suport them. If the government would have supported Nicola Tesla our military tech and civilian tech would have been progressed faster making the USA more powerful in the world.
In Ireland they proposed building a tier 1 childrens hospital in Dublin for 1.5 Bilion. Now that figure is near 6 Billion and its still not finished after 6 years
So, basically, Musk's plan for Government Efficiency is to ensure his corporation get to Mars in the shortest time possible?? Wow.
While his goal is noble, he is still selfish in his approach. Musk has done a lot of good for the world, but he does not represent the majority of CEOs and business owners who are just there to syphon money from the poor to their pockets and to the pockets of their shareholders.
Same guy thats against handouts , unless his companies are on the receiving end . Snake oil salesman putting in his best sales pitch.
Something he does like every other politician is answering question by not answering the question and talking about anything else…😢
Like why can’t he just say, i’m gonna do 1, 2, 3..?
quoting someone elses comment:
@Jose94000

Honestly, it was a bad question.
Elon's answer is basically, "I'll be doing the job."
Which is a legitimate answer when you don't have the job yet.
If someone asked me, "What's the first thing you're going to do when you start working at McDonald's?"
How exactly am I supposed to answer that? "Whatever I am asked to do."?
It will be incredible to watch. Cut deep.
Don’t be fooled
Say more...
@@thabanglentsoana7939 I'll chime in. Elon is only concerned about space x and improving efficiencies with this business. Government intervention is the biggest pain for him with this company, so he will do what he needs to do to stop that government intervention if he holds this position in government. Everything else is just a fantasy. He "wants to go to Mars". Read between the lines.
My coworker has a wife who works in government he says for everyday she works they get 2 hours of vacation and get to use it freely. So we are paying for her to work 4 days a week but get paid for 5.....i wonder how much this goes on with every government job?
That goes on with most every full time salary job...
@d.fiammata538 okay? If your a company and want to offer that benefit for your employe that's up to you! The united states government is not a company! Making tax payers pay for non essential government workers who move as fast as snails and are less productive then me when I'm asleep shouldn't be able to work 4 days out of the week while taxpayer's pay !!!
lol, everyone knows if you get a government job, you won't ever be fired, and there's security to just chill and do the minimum work all the time because the gov will just print money to cover any debts
@@Astrojamusmost governments offer their workers good benefits or pensions but lower wages. It is a way of retaining people without competing with the market on hourly rate.
urmm, so should government workers work and get no holidays?????
I used to be a contractor for DFAS. The contractors worked their asses off, but the old timers sat an read their newpapers because they knew they wouldn't fired.
