The grenade of Gun 2 is great, assive AOE damage if u can find the correct hammer buff. Highly recommend to give a try. Don’t even need auto attack just booooomb+dash, brain dead build.
Aegis carried me and let me block everything. First time I saw Hades I beat him due to how amazing blocking everything he does. Most notably his beams in second phase
This is exactly why I think Chiron isn't as strong as people often make it out to be. You can shotgun with coronacht's special by playing in melee range and Chiron is heavily reliant on upgrades/boons. It's easy to play if you get those upgrades, easier than many other bow aspects but I still find Hera to be much stronger.
@@Tenkiei idk dude that homing is insane especially on higher heat runs. Sure the shotgun is nice but if the enemy has armor it's just going to turn around and kill you
@@jurgenshantz4273 bruh I was crushing with that aspect without any upgrades. Then I realized you can go Artemis and try getting a Special Chaos boon and the +4 special/stacking damage with the hammers and you'll melt EVERYTHING. Cap fr
I just started playing this game about a week ago, and my early conclusion is that no matter what weapon and aspect you are using, Lightning Rod duo with 5 casts and a bunch of Zeus upgrades is the most hilarious thing I have ever seen in a video game in years.
I agree. I was trolling some runs to progress the story and for the side quests to proc after U died and I ended up getting this upgrade so I stopped trolling and beat hades with no death defiances. My build was also insane but the three shot burst was the start of the insane run
I have been playing non stop for a couple of days now and although I haven't won yet, I've fallen in love with Varatha and remains the only weapon with which I almost consistently get to Hades with. I've just unlocked the aspect system itself, so I'll have to give it a try.
I'm with you on Arthur, I've been practicing dashing during attack wind up and it's crazy. You can essentially reposition and avoid getting interrupted if you are good with timing. Ridiculously OP if you spend time practicing and mastering it.
Get the Daedalus upgrade that makes your dash attack hit twice and grab hunter's dash if possible. You'll push about 800 damage per attack cycle and that's before any attack boons. Run shattered shackle and you'll easy push 1.1k
bro, i couldn't follow any of this since you went full nerd and used the names of everything. if you just said the shield, spear, sword, bow, gun, and gloves it would have been interesting.
This 100%. I have tons of hours in the game and I'm gonna be honest idk any of the actual names of the weapons. The community came up with clear terminology that even people unfamiliar with the game will understand because they literally describe the weapon, so using the names ruined the whole video.
@@hammurabitheawesome674 really? they took me like 2 days and i wasn't focusing on trying to learn them ok sorry i don't want to start an argument but thats the truth
@@lavatrex6736 Even the official hades wiki has headings that use the actual weapon kinds for the weapons and only list their actual names as secondary info. 99% of the community uses the type of weapon or at least says both the namings. So if you want the community to care, you need to use the more commonly accepted naming.
Been playing a lot recently and fell in love with the game, the voice acting, art style, the fast paced action, the lore in the game, and the MUSIC GOD. I’ve gotten the farthest using the spear of Achilles and the fists. I like the first fists you get cause of the dodge chance, loading up on Athena boon deflects and Hermès boons makes getting through Elysium a lot easier. Boons from art help with the damage and Dionysus boons help with dps on hades. Have yet to beat him cause I used all my death defiance’s on the first stage of his fight
Get the Daedalus upgrade to make your special a projectile and suddenly you're playing DBZ with Demeter. Especially if you stack Zeus boons for the double strike.
I'm only 15 runs in and haven't unlocked aspects yet, but I'm pretty comfy with Coronacht. I had my best run with it so far, finally getting back to and beating the Hydra for the first time, and making it all the way to the next boss. I had deflect boons on attack and special and Ares' beyblades on my dash as well.
Varatha with Hades is definitely my favourite weapon, it's just fun , if you get the 2 hammer upgrades that boost your special, and a good special boon, you can literally clear entire rooms with 1 special. My least favourite weapon is malphone, imo it's only good if you have ares/Athena duo boon, because you can just spam doom and deflect dash. I liked Gilgamesh a lot tho, fun
Malphon is definitely a good weapon but it takes some getting used to especially the ranges. If you want a more forgiving aspect to practice on I'd say maybe Talos due to the grab fixing the issue of needing to know attack ranges as well.
@@meee_5155 I made this comment 2 years ago, and now that I haven't played is basically 2 years, I also have no idea what I was talking about so yeah... Weapon types> names
My personal favourite weapon is Malphon, specially using the aspect of Talos. I also like to pick the Daedalus upgrade that boosts the range of standard attack so combining the magnetic pull special and an improved range for standard I can deal with ranged enemies much better. Also I find just punching enemies pretty fun.
Interesting info on the endgame and how the very different weapons mature. I haven't gotten into Elysium more than a few times yet, and still haven't taken out Alecto either. Was *so* close once, but, alas.
I just beat my first run using the twin fists. Lack of range was brutal, but it forced me to stay near the enemy and get me to learn their attack patterns which is really nice for a beginner. That and I got the weapon upgrade giving you 2% hp for every enemy you killed with your special.
i am still new to the game and i love playing with coronatch so much, i was able to kill a lot of bosses on my first try with the weapon. Just got stumped on my first encounter with theseus though :' ) Edit: i defeated hades for the first time with exagryph (aspect of hestia) on my 20th escape attempt lmao
Kinda surprised that you didn't talk about Aspect of Chaos at all. I think that there's a lot of potential in the multiple shields on the special, especially with Dread Flight and some good boons for crowd control. I personally like to go with Ares, since doom balances out the relatively low DPS of the shield throw, while also being useful without Bull Rush since you can just tag an opponent for good damage for very low commitment. Now add Charge Beam to that... Super versatile and safe.
When I first started the game, I stuck with the sword (Stygius or something I don’t remember) for a while, but after about ten attempts and having gotten past Elysium a single time, I instead opted for Aegis, and I still firmly believe Aegis is the best weapon in the game, with the proper boons. If you can get Ares’ blood vial and the boon that causes your special to deal doom damage for your first boon of the game, you’re basically set. Whatever build comes off of that will inevitably be good, but if it somehow stinks, you always have a very solid fallback. That being said, the second run i did after I chose Aegis, I beat Hades for the first time.
For me it has to be the eternal spear. It does lack a bit in AOE without the proper boons but its range and damage combined with boosted doom damage or Jolts is a beauty to behold!
pretty interesting to see a different perspective so different from mine. My best runs have been with nemesis sword, demeter fists, rama bow, and lucifer rail
My main thinking is the builds I can get with the weapons like Aegis I can get the Ares boon that applies doom on hit with the special and then with the hammer I can upgrade it to bounce to 4 more targets before coming back
Aegis & Coronacht are probably my two favourites so far. I started not really liking Coronacht, but then I got the Darkness bonus from it so I was like "Why not", then I really liked it. I just had so much fun one-shotting the weak enemies, & even when they got stronger, I could still rely on it. Coronacht definitely shines the brightest in Tartarus, in my opinion, & it can get you stacked for the later stages if you play your cards right & get a little bit lucky
Its second aspect makes for incredibly ez boss fights, the auto targeting makes you able to continue dealing dmg while fleeing. Just beat Hades with Ares' attacks and Aphrodite's technique.
In my personal experience, Exagryph is the easiest to get Bonkers damage on, mainly just by spamming whatever upgrades your Special. I tend to get 500-1000 damage Qs quite consistently in my runs, simply by either leveling an early Q enhancing boon from any of the gods (you can swap it out for a potentially better one later with higher rarity) + the Daedalus bigger range / 300% damage - inflicts damage if it hits Zag. Also works with Rockets, which are a bit easier to aim. Adding either Zeus or Demeter for the Auto-Attack with jolts or just slows helps a ton as well. In high heat / hastened foes matchups most Stygius aspects seem atrociously slow and would bank on heavy Daedalus high roll upgrades. Guan Yu is also way too clunky for general use. Loading up a Rama aspect on Coronacht with tons of damage is also quite easy. Like Double arrow + slower charging, lower range exploding arrow can easily be teched to do 400-1000 damage per windup. My personal favorite for the lulz has to be Aspect of Zeus Aegis though with Blade Rift on cast. Best blending experience of my life, just throw, retract Q jam in the blade rifts. Doesn't beat out one-shotting Styx rooms with a single Exagryph Special Q. Also aspect of Gilgamesh? You can dash attack on each instance of the dash chain, which makes mauling stuff super easy and satisfying! To me this is the most reasonable tearlist: Exagryph - Q scaling / easiest to execute dash kiting Coronacht - Punishing for beginners / people getting used to the aim. DESTROYS runs handily with the right upgrades. Malphon - The best One-Two weapon in the game. Easy concept, dash in, pummel 1-3 orbits, dash back out, rinse and repeat. Aegis - High utility, best defense in the game, lacks an overwhelming aggressive aspect for high pressure, high heat runs Varatha - Superb range (basically half a screen or more) / scales badly due to low base values Stygius
ive actually gotten the farthest using exclusively Demeter, i'm current at 20 heat and i love taking Zeus's Thunder Flourish when you get the "5 hits in a row" buff for your next Special, Striking an enemy with Thunderbolts 5 times, also stacking anything that ramps up special damage, usually take Doom for normal attacks and try to get "Applying multiple dooms increases damage" and since you are aiming to store 12 hits ASAP this is great ramp up damage while getting that buff, applying all Stygian marks possible on high threats, Demeter's Snow blast also helps while applying said marks for the big 5x Thunder Flourish damage on top of "Jolted", " X% chance to do double damage" and "Wider splash damage when lightning boons connect" utterly destroying a large crowd of enemies and really CHUNK away at Hades himself. The obvious downside is if you have less than 3 to 4 Dashes throughout the run, you REALLY gotta be excellent with you dodging cause Extreme High risk/Extreme High reward Style gameplay. But at the end, It's so fucking badass to deal the final blow in a devastating uppercut to Dad's jawline! 10/10 Would slip off a cliff again.
the stygius is definitely my favorite weapon, especially with the aspect of arthur. it actually makes the weapon god-tier. however, i beat hades for the first time with the exagryph, my least favorite weapon LMAO. ever since i rebound reload to left stick and took advantage of the range, it got me sooo much further than I expected. all the weapons are good because they cater to different playstyles. thanks for the video!
Rama with Zeus or Ares on the special and the +4 arrows daedalus upgrade is pretty broken. With Ares you can get around 900-1000 damage per doom effect, you fire from a safe distance and the arrows bounce to another enemy so you apply the affect to 2 enemies at once. With Zeus is harder to quantify the damage but is also really strong. Not my favourite weapon, but strong and easy to use.
Just got the game yesterday and when I unlocked the spear I cleared the 3rd floor the second time I saw it, all of the 4th floor the first time I saw it, and got hades to his second phase first try. I had an upgrade on the triple spear path that deflected all projectiles which was insane, and the Artemis boon that fired jolts every time I hit anything, creating an amazing defense that constantly chipped enemies if I wanted to sit back, or hyper offensive if I wanted to use the spears in that way + chip damage. I also had like level 5 curse on the spear for insane chip damage that way
I swear those Malphon punches are a fucking drug. I thought it was my new favorite weapon after trying it the first time but ditching the spear was too tough for me.
I got my first successful escape with the aspect of Hera and artemis cast, and I got the legendary artemis boon from chiron right before the Hades fight. That is when I fell in love with it
all of this information is after beating the game im just trying to figure out what to level the most first the shield seems nice but i still need to unlock the gloves and gun
acording to most of comunity chaos shield is best aspect for hi heat, personally i dont like the gameplay but throw zeus on special and you will lose only if you get too greedy
I did notice that the aspect of Zeus was quite nice. I also disliked the playstyle of aspect of chaos tbh. The only reason I didn't rate Zeus higher is because it felt at times clunky to capitalize on especially when enemies got faster. I just love the way Aspect of Beowulf plays if you can get the "turns your charge into a shot" I feel nearly invulnerable and the damage output is great.
@@tanewby3861 I'll be honest. I'm not quite sure on the process behind it myself. I think it's when you beat or reach certain checkpoints in the story, either by passing bosses or dying?
@@Tenkiei okay I've unlocked all the weapons that are actually available from the star hoping that that might be it. I tried to look it up but I can't find it anywhere every time I try to look it up it just tells me that I need to use the keys I'll just keep playing I'm sure I'll come across it eventually
My path... Shield : best beginner weapon because you can throw it and use it to melee at the same time. Bow : really fun weapon once you upgrade it, slow at first, best weapon for snipers. Sword : tough to adjust to because it was close range, but really strong dash-strike. Spear : same as the sword, but probably the best weapon overall if I had to pick one. Gun : fun weapon with all kinds of potential, liked how this game became a shooter. Fists : real interesting weapon that I look forward to using more, changes how you play. I'm about 200 hours into it now, and I'm just now at the point where I've used all the weapons to escape. Can't believe how good this game has become over time and how it reinvents itself so that the player has to adjust in order to escape. Fantastic game design they nailed it with this one.
Malphon is my #1 weapon for me. It suits my ultra-aggressive rushdown playstyle. I usually use an attack pattern called “Bob and Weave”. Paired with Zeus, Athena and Artemis Boons, I get in the enemies faces and Pummel and Dash-Strike them into oblivion for explosive amounts of DPS.
My favourite is Aegis, with the Daedalus upgrade combo of your special being faster and extra damage whilst dashing, coupled with the special hitting additional enemies before returning. I 'Captain America' my way through rooms so quickly and easily with these!
I love coronacht with the aspect of hera but I've been using the mirror perk that regenerates your cast. I'm not sure why the other one is considered better
I think it's ok. It has a high damage potential similar to Arthur but makes enemies more dangerous and if you use the maim at the wrong time it feels very punishing especially vs extreme measures hades. So overall mixed feelings. It doesn't feel amazing nor does it feel horrible.
@@Tenkiei I can’t believe you didn’t include it either. It’s damage is very high, possibly the highest in the game, directly comparable with Arthur. If you are worried about the rend you can always just not use it. I think if you are getting hit THAT much, you’ve got other issues to worry about. The weapon still has starting damage over twice as high as the others even without the maiming skill. It’s additional dash mobility is just amazing too. It’s mobility makes it easier to survive with.
twin fists with long knuckle and doom attack damage is an absolute god setup, the spear with athena's damage and deflect along with poseidons three projectile like attack boon is insanely good too plus with a little bit of extra range in there it becomes nearly unstoppable, i was able to make it all the way through elysium to the bull with it and that was with minimal upgrades, everything has it's own purpose for sure but the mele weapons in this game really do shine through in a lot of ways.
I haven't unlocked any other Bow aspects and focused on Zagreus and that carried me to my first escape at 22nd attempt. Getting proper Aphrodite and Artemis combos carry the game. Plus if you get with Athena Shield and Zeus' near miss, it's impossible to be beaten I should also add, that either Two-Point Arrow + Explosive Shot OR Flurry Shot and Chain Shot. Makes the Bow SUPER RELIABLE. The second is simply braindead
I remember on my first run of this game I was playing on friends account and used the gun and got some really good boons I got to hades on my first run i was really exited and still love that weapon to this day .
With Exagryph, you're better off stacking status curse effects (chilled, jolted, hangover, doom, weak) with the primary attack, then relying on the splash damage from the special to get the kills. The Demeter boon that takes 10 stacks of chill then explodes is awesome for the attack if you can get the consistent shots in. Lucifer has incredible potential for cheese, however - especially if you get the infinite ammo Daedalus upgrade. Unlike the delta chamber for aspect of Zagreus/Eris/Hestia, the fire isn't in delayed bursts and is just one constant stream. This could mean infinite chain lightning through a crowd with Zeus attack, keeping your enemies distanced (of not pinned against the wall) with Poseidon attack, stacking chill super fast with Demeter attack, frequently intermittent crits from Artemis attack, a constant shield in from of you with Athena attack, and of course stacking Doom, Weak, Hangover quite quickly with Ares, Aphrodite, and Dionysus, respectively. Pairs well with triple beam for more coverage or the extra range upgrade to stay further back. I've genuinely completed runs without even firing my secondary on Lucifer because the primary is so much of a cheese option. I had the most fun doing a Poseidon-focused run that turned Lucifer into a triple nozel lethal supersoaker. Razor shoals and all of his other boons with bonuses from knocking enemies into barriers added into the mix, it was cake.
I definitely prefer consistency over cheese which is why I'm not a big fan of Lucifer. I've done some 16+ runs with it but overall I prefer other aspects for their reliability (my best run is still with aspect of zag).
I didn’t enjoy play Stygius at all when I started but after playing a while and getting aspect of nemesis I quickly became my second favorite weapon (after aegis)
I love malphon and aspect of demeter : this way i can either go full doom on attacks or % dmg on the special; picking daedalus upgrade for either (range on attack is gorgeous). If i can manage to get an hermes attack boost,it's perfect. Since you are at higher heat level, i'm certain you have more expertise than i however !
Range on attack is great for any fist aspect. One of these days I need to give Gilgamesh another shot (the aspect that didn't exist when I made this vid). Overall I still prefer Aspect of Zag the best and just punching in some shade-faces.
@@Tenkiei understandable. Hidden aspect feel really bad at base level (except for rama) but also seem to scale very much. As an artemis simp i love zagreus coronacth , but hera is clearly the most op bow (hera + poseidon cast have mercy)
My favourite weapon is Exagryph with Eris because I love how it’s long range and you don’t have to be too close to your enemy and when you get the Daedeloues hammer enchantments it gets way better.
i just finished beating Hades with a bow. Didn't even unlock aspects yet but interested in trying out the other ones. It being ranged seemed like the safest bet with the volley and doom.
I still prefer other aspects over it, especially now that Gilgamesh has been added. It's ok but a little gimmicky due to how rarely you get the extra special hits.
First of all, I appreciate the video! It's interesting to see someone else's opinions of the weapons. Although I'm sure you'd expect people to have some slightly different opinions, I have to super disagree with a couple of your choices- and I'd expect you rated them low only because you haven't used their builds to the full capacity. First and foremost- cast builds. It's clear you're somewhat interested in casts because of how you talked about poseidon sword. Poseidon sword is definitely good, but requires some pretty specific boons (as you noted; exit wounds) to make strong- and I find the foray into melee is often quite punishing. With both the Achilles spear and the Eris gun you can get cast builds with more damage bonus on the cast than you can get from the poseidon sword, both without needing to run into melee at all. Your review of the Achilles spear mentioned running into enemies with the charge- you don't need to do that at all. On the contrary, I usually use the spear throw to escape far away, and then have 4 casts all with +150% damage. Achilles is definitely my strongest spear. The bonus from the Eris gun is super strong as well. Fully upgraded you get 75%(I think) bonus damage for a full 8 seconds from ALL sources. Any DOT effects or bonuses from your boons are effected, making it super powerful for either a cast build or a DoT build. I love it with the hammer upgrade for 5 bombs instead of 1- that makes it super easy to get in a bomb while you are hitting enemies with the others. But even still. 8 seconds is super long! Chaos shield has already been brought up, so I won't go into much detail there. Yes it was nerfed, but it's still strong with good boon synergy on the special. You mentioned nemesis sword is probably strong- it is- and it's definitely a more intense and dangerous playstyle, but the 30% crit on the attack is SUPER powerful. For a high DPS build its great. Keep in mind an artemis attack only gives 15% crit chance- so grabbing an attack boon with more damage modifier (Aphrodite?) can lead to your attack being around 4x stronger than if you had an artemis attack on another sword aspect. I think you slept on Rama bow a bit too- the special casting straight at a single target and then ricocheting makes for powerful DoT or Zeus builds, and the spread damage is great for dealing with crowds. Easily an A+ aspect, but that one could just be personal preference. However... My 100% strongest EZ weapon- Chrion Bow. Easily S+++ for me- and I think the powerful synergy is hard to deny. Rama bow is indeed fun- it's nice to chunk with cast- but the synergy with chiron is both more diverse and safer to play. My favorite setup, and the one I cleared 32 heat on- is Demeter on special. This is definitely a lower DPS build than Artemis on special (which slaps!), but stacking 7 bits of slow on a target from range is super powerful for playing safe- especially when enemies have 40% more move speed. Don't misunderstand me though- this is still a ridiculously high damage build. Not only does demeter have a reasonable damage modifier for the special, but the extra benefit from killing freeze and the explosion on 10 stacks are super easy to trigger. The hammer upgrades synergize super well with Chiron- +4 shots from special, +3 damage per consecutive special hit, or even piercing with +400% damage to armor. All can absolutely chunk. Dionysus on special also works well- instant 5 stacks of poison. Zeus also works, although the game doesn't register each individual lightning strike. Anyway. Chiron bow EZ clap. If you've read all of this, kudos!
Thanks, and yeah a lot of it is based on experience although I also tried to approach it from what is the least boon reliant between all the weapons, so if something was very strong with some boons, but pretty weak with others or more generally I gave it a lower rating. The reason I did this is I wanted to try to approach it from what is best a majority of the time, even if you don't get the boon you want? But you're definitely right there are some I underrated, and I do agree going into melee with Stygius can be dicey which is why my favorite combo is actually Aegis - Beowulf with the ranged charge and stacking cast bonuses. But I won't get the ranged charge every run (I think it's very strong even without). Rama could be personal preference, it just felt more awkward to me than using Hera which is definitely my favorite (Chiron being close behind). I didn't like Eris because I tend to favor things like rockets on Exagryph, or the "special can damage you" type builds which don't play as well with Eris so that one could maybe have been biased down by a rank or two. I didn't realize the bonus applied to DoTs though that's pretty cool and I'll have to play around with it in the future.
Tenkiei the rockets are definitely an interesting choice for exagryph, and you’re right- they’re definitely not as nice with the Eris aspect. I guess if there’s anything this conversation is showing me it’s that if you lean towards any specific hammer upgrades or prefer any specific booms, it can dramatically impact your opinion of the weapons. For example- I’ve shyed away from Beowulf shield just because of how slow it is, but I’ve been running the recharging cast instead of the triple charge, which limits how bursty the bull rush can be. I’m curious to go back and try it after seeing your good review- and I hope you’ll give Chiron bow some more love too. Cheers!
@@sagebeasley3303 Yeah and that's one of the great things about this game. There are so many options that are good, and so many combinations to make things worthwhile.
@Tenkiei the rockets synergize very well with Eris aspect. The fact they are much faster than the normal grenade and deal more base damage is great. Things that make it very very powerful are also picking up the 5 grenade hammer upgrade, or even the triple grenade so you can fire three quickly. Since you don't have to wait for a grenade arc to happen, it's huge DPS. Artemis special and a few of her crit boons make it broken. Especially if you use Athena on the attack to deflect.
@Tenkiei with rockets and Eris rail, it's all about positioning to be close to an enemy when you fire the rocket. Or just shoot it at a wall/object you are nearby. Remember the damage buff lasts for 8 seconds, which is a huge amount of time for +75% damage.
Chiron only edges out Hera if you get the Daedalus upgrade that adds +3 damage per consecutive hit alongside curse of pain, impending doom, and.... Whatever the name is of the one that increases doom damage with every application of Doom. The Daedalus buff that adds +3 shots to your special is also viable.
@@talleywa5772 i dont even remember but i had one run with chiron that was too easy. the daedalus upgrade with the extra arrows Is what I always chose, and what Made me win most of the times i played with chiron
Using Exgryph, 12 runs in and I'm already bullying Maegera, Hydra, even Theseus and Asterius with it! Failed 2 times at Hades, but made it to the 2nd phase this time, hope to finally clear my first escape soon with Exagryph. (using Aspect of Zagreus)
I'm kinda late to this video lol but its kinda crazy how without any knowledge I thought exagryph was the best weapon because it was the only one I could ever. Escape with
I thought i could not good enough using malphon. And it is the least used weapon. But cant believed when first clear using it. Until now I keep growing higher heat using it successfully. Aspect of Talos is super, yes. Compatible with every boon. Second, lucifer exagriph with infinite ammo and divine strike. It help with every enemy and bosses. Then, Arthur. And most difficult is bow. My first successful using bow is after maximize aspect of Chiron. Favourite malphon upgrade is the slaying special that give +health and 90 damage on area landed.
I’m a person who loves swords and other blades. I also don’t love ranged weapons, mostly because I think aiming and shooting an enemy from a mile away is boring in games like this. …. Then I used Aegis- And HOLY SHIT- It was really good! It got me my first Hades Win! I mostly just wanted some more Titan Blood, so I was gonna meme it up, use a weapon I didn’t love, beat a Fury and get that Titan Blood. But then I got Ares, and got the Epic version of the Special Doom Boon, where when I use my Special, it inflicts a LOT of doom damage. Then I got the Daedalus Hammer that buffed my Special Damage. And then I got another Ares, which made my doom damage higher. And my regular attacks do doom damage on a different boon. And then I realized- if I spammed the shield throw, it will hit the enemies, bounce between them, and after a moment, do MASSIVE Doom Damage, before repeating. It MELTED through Elysium, getting a no death Duo Fight, my first successful Due Fight ever! And then I went through Styx. Melted through them too. Also, I got a lot of heath, so that helped a lot. Then I fought Hades… it took both my final lives… but I did it. I won. I still think that the gameplay of Stygian is more fun… but for getting the Titan Blood I need to get Arthur…? Yeah, it will do.
Zagreus Sword Build 1: Hammers: Cursed Blade + Flurry Slash Boons: Athena, Aphrodite, or Artemis (+Attack Speed Hermes buff helps too) Note: You're pretty much UNKILLABLE with medium/high damage output. Just get some bonus hearts to prevent getting bursted. Build 2: Hammers: Hoarding Slash + Anything else (I like Flurry Slash) Boons: >NO BOON< on Attack, Cast, or Special. Hermes Chamber Gold Bonus, Chaos Gold+%, Athena Dash, Hermes Attack Speed, and Chaos Attack buffs are most helpful. Note: Run the Shackle Keepsake for +80% Damage. Focus on money ONLY. Hoarding Slash alone should be boosting your damage by +150 per slash (before bonuses) each hit by the end. This is the most consistent build in the whole game because the ONLY requirement is getting Hoarding slash which makes it INCREDIBLY flexible. I've beat Heat 20 with this method. *Alternatively, if you accidently get >Epic< Athena or Aphrodite, you can remove the shackle as you will get more damage and bonuses. Otherwise, sell any boons for more money to keep your shackles active. Zagreus Sword should be at least A tier, definitely not D tier. If you don't believe me, try these builds. You will be surprised.
The more specific the boons required to make a weapon strong or playable, the lower I was rating it as a result. The things I gave an A or S function without specific boons (Or are very strong with multiple different single boon setups). While those builds do look good if you get the setup for them I wouldn't consider the weapon to be A tier unless it can excel without those (Example Arthur excels without any specific boons). Also I'd rather play Hoarding Slash + Flurry on Nemesis because the innate crit on attack begins to matter a lot so it's not really a build unique to one aspect.
Varatha user here: I generally stack attack/dash strike buffs and go for the triple dash strike. With stackable attack buffs (demeters chill, dionysus' hangover) it can lay multiple charges of whatever attack. Toss aspect of Hades onto the pile and most of everything just melts. I've been having fun with pure zeus or pure demeter runs, but I originally beat hades with athena reflect buffs. I sort of knew varatha was my weapon when I first picked it up too. I've unlocked and tried the others, but Varatha fits my style
I like all of the weapons. As of right now the only one I haven’t escaped with yet is Varatha, but that’s not because of difficulty more so than it is me trying to unlock the 4th aspects for the rest of the weapons.
First time i unlock the shield, i dont understand what is good about it. Because its attack dont hit fast and you just bull rush into enemy. But it ended up as my first succesfull escape...
There's a pretty good trade-off in the game between fast weapons and hard hitting weapons. For example Aspect of Arthur is a very slow sword, but you can crit for 1-2k with it so the slowness doesn't feel bad as long as you don't run enemy speed or are comfortable with your animation timing so you aren't interrupted mid swing. I have noticed a lot of people tend to gravitate towards, and over-value fast weapons though especially fast weapons combined with certain boons.
After 1st run, I took coronaht and didn't even try to do anything else since. For me, having a space between me and the enemy (Especially bosses) is the main thing, and I usually don't find that many useless boons, and cast most of the time can serve as a tactical weapon, rather than main ranged attack. Tho, I really love Athenas boons.
I’m curious about your thoughts on the Hammer upgrades: Used to swear by Stygius especially because of curse blade after I got it but my first successful escape happened to be with the spear because the stars alligned giving me the hammer for the triple dash attack strike for it at the start of the run which I then built my entire run on which caused the hades fight to be like a minute with me still having all my death defies afterwards.
I think that the strongest weapon aspects aren't very reliant on hammer upgrades. But many of the weaker aspects can go from "meh" to "godly" with the right hammer/boon combo.
Im very new to Hades and I'm having difficulties with all weapons except Aegis because it gives me the option to block incoming attacks and projectiles while the others do not. How do you guys who play with the weapons except Aegis handle to dodge screen-wide mass projectiles without the dodge boon?
It takes practice. After you've played for a bit you'll start to see the tells enemies have which telegraph their abilities. This means you can plan your dash/movement before they attack. Also, as you use blood to upgrade more of the weapons you'll have more damage to finish dangerous foes off quickly.
Pretty sure a ranking of the weapons can't be done without accounting to where you are at in the game. Hera in early game is super strong, but gets little progress through its upgrades, while upgrading chiron makes it not only viable but as strong. Secret aspects, for what I've seen are all very strong late game, when they can be upgraded. Rama is still my prefered aspect, for it allies the damaging capabilities of beowulf with the versatility of guan yu (which is my favorite spear as I am chronically unable to catch or recall the special properly xd. Also with quick spin and some defense bonuses you become virtually unkillable if you don't augment enemy damage with the pact)
I think I'd rate Lucy a bit higher because of how powerful Lightning Strike is just on it's own. With the infinity chamber Daedalus upgrade, you can simply hold down the attack button and focus on evasion while your enemies melt away. With Festive Fog and Frost Flourish/Ice Wine, approaching you becomes nearly impossible for enemies. If you manage to pick up Swift Strike, Splitting Bolt, and/or Scintilating Feast as well the result is a strong contender for best kite build in the game.
I tend to rate things lower when they feel more reliant on boons, because going into a run especially at higher heats. Lucifer might be better than I'm giving it credit for but it was always a struggle when I was using it especially when the enemies had speed.
@@Tenkiei So I just unlocked Lucifer and the thing that sold me on it is being able to fire while dashing, as well as the ability to fire and detonate special separately, and basically on the whim. For me, as a person who constantly misses Exa's bombs it means that even if I miss the initial shot, I can kite enemies back into the area and then trigger the blast.
Overall good list, however you put aspect of zagreus coronacht in D which to me is insane because fully upgraded aspect of zagreus coupled with demeter boons and daedelus hammer upgrades that shit is insane. Youll get crits over 40% of the time while also doing monstrous damage with upraded power shots or flurry shots (both are godly) with the double shot (perhaps this is because I became extremely good at power shooting with coronacht consistently). I could no cap defeat hades in 30 sec with this combo on 10 heat
Idk what it is man I just vibe with the gun and cannot get the shield going, when you upgrade the special shot and get the one that hurts you but gives 300% damage, in top of other damage buffs and get the drunk fog cast or the combo drunk fog ice one and some good speed upgrades I just melt everyone no one stands a chance. Just can’t figure out the shield or the firsts really
I’m the polar opposite, the shield was my first successful run to the Minotaur and Theseus fight, and the fists were my first clear. I can’t get the hang of the rail probably due to the reload mechanic and the lack of range on it. Pretty neat that someone has the opposite problem to me though.
I’m new to the game and not sure about all these names you’re saying. Would have been useful for me to have the weapons you’re talking about on screen first. But thanks for the video was really helpful
I personally think that zeus is the best aspect for aegis, just for the power that the shield throw has. In my personal experience, the shield throw combined with a ton of buffed dash strikes is an absolute shredder. I also think that Beowulf is a bit clunky and tough to use, and the dragon rush feels mediocre, especially with the slow buildup, but the could just be my inexperience. I'm currently at a highest heat of 4, I'm just upping the heat meter on my other weapons before I continue with my current favorites, which are Malphon with aspect of Talos, or Varatha with aspect of Hades.
Love dash builds the most so the gauntlets are my go to when playing. However, the spear with Guan Yu aspect is my most successful build in terms of beating the game.
So I did not like the shield at first, but when I went to get it's Titans blood for the first times I saw the power of it's special. Running around and throwing it and having it auto hit enemies definitely fits my play style. And currently it is the only way I have made it to the Hades fight. I have not won yet though
Why is nobody talking about how broken the bow's hidden aspect is (Rama)?! Slap on Twin Shot or Triple shot, and the Point-Blank upgrade, u get consistent 3k hits. If u build properly, that is.
Wow we have completely different play styles. I'm only on Heat 3 but when I first started I loved Coronacht and Exagryph. Still do. But I struggled with Vratha and Malphons range was such a hassle at first. I think I've only beat Hades with Malphon once in Heat 1 and I had an insane build...
So my first victory was with aegis and saw that everyone praises shield of chaos very, very much. Now that I tried it with both ares and dionysus special boons, I see how it can be strong but I don't quite understand the hype to be completely honest. Can someone explain why it is arguably the best aegis aspect? I only had a 1 heat run btw, consider that. I am a total noob
So my video: th-cam.com/video/6OaYyuEoRWY/w-d-xo.html talking about the shield of chaos post-launch might help a little here. But all and all it's the damage potential of shotgunning with the extra shields + defensive nature of blocking. Note: you do need to max it out or close to max it out for it to be this good. But if you do you can kinda get into a habit of block --> special --> block --> special. Which is very safe for higher heat runs.
@@Tenkiei Yeah I think I understand it better now, so it's not that it's super super powerful, it's just that it's really safe which makes it good for high heat runs. Thanks a lot
I thought Coronacht was a bad weapon for me at start and i never wanted to play it but it was my first sucsefull escape and I only play it now, especially with the Chiron aspect ( I think one of the best with Chaos for Aegis when they're max level)
A lot of people like Chiron, but personally I prefer Hera (I've also heard Rama is good but haven't tried it fully maxed for enough runs to really have a good opinion). The reason I prefer Hera is because of the added damage from loading your cast into your attack and if you point-blank with the special even without Chiron most of them hit.
Personally these are my favourite aspects for each weapon: Stygius- nemesis for big crits Varatha- Guan Yu bc charged skewer Coronacht- Chiron for hangover stacks Aegis- Beowulf is by far the most op weapon in the game Fists- Demeter for normal fists but also big burst damage Exagryph- Hestia for ohkoing all non bosses
I like the video but as someone’s who’s newer to the game I would’ve appreciated if you had visuals for each “aspect” as just saying the name of each aspect for someone new to me meant nothing (I didn’t know which aspect did what just by the name alone)
People can say the name of all the weapons a million times over, and I still wouldn't be able to tell which is which.
All I know is just: sword, bow, shield, spear, gun and gloves

Lmao, right? Can't listen to this while I play. Have to actually look just to see wtf weapon he's talking about.

Lmfao same
I fell in love with it when I got weaken on my special. At the end of my run Hades was doing ten damage to me.
The grenade of Gun 2 is great, assive AOE damage if u can find the correct hammer buff. Highly recommend to give a try. Don’t even need auto attack just booooomb+dash, brain dead build.
I hated the default sword when i first started. It ended being my first successful escape
my first successful escape was Malphon, but I definitely had a similar feeling with Stygius.
Aegis carried me and let me block everything. First time I saw Hades I beat him due to how amazing blocking everything he does. Most notably his beams in second phase

Oh yeah saying chiron isn't the best weapon aspect for the bow is straight cap that shit is insane with literally any special
yeah but you need it to be upgraded at max to be worth it; or you can play normal choronacth at melee range (yes i'm that aggressive)

I just started playing this game about a week ago, and my early conclusion is that no matter what weapon and aspect you are using, Lightning Rod duo with 5 casts and a bunch of Zeus upgrades is the most hilarious thing I have ever seen in a video game in years.
It is quite hilarious yes. Though more effective vs some enemies than others especially later on.
I beat the crap out Extreme Measures version of Hades with Lightning Rod and 5 casts.

Lucifer with Zeus special made for an amazing run

@@yourfavoritegames4971 There's nothing wrong with sticking to something you master. Ultimately all the weapons are good!
How do you unlock the aspects I have already beaten hades 2 times and I don't have it
I'm with you on Arthur, I've been practicing dashing during attack wind up and it's crazy.
The thing I love about hades is all the weapons are good in their own ways it just boils down to which suits you best .

This 100%. I have tons of hours in the game and I'm gonna be honest idk any of the actual names of the weapons.
Gotta say, explosion off dadelus and Demeter just MELTS in aoe for the twin fists
Yeah seeing demeter d tier after 2 mins what a joke 😂
Especially maxed out aspect with a Artemis aphrodite combo it is insane.
I had deflect boons on attack and special and Ares' beyblades on my dash as well.
coronacht aspect hera with Artemis cast + attack makes fucking bombs. the amount of damage ive done with that run...
Just put the type of weapon not the names I literally have no idea what any of their names are and it’s so confusing trying to watch this video

Also I find just punching enemies pretty fun.

i am still new to the game and i love playing with coronatch so much, i was able to kill a lot of bosses on my first try with the weapon. Just got stumped on my first encounter with theseus though :' )
Edit: i defeated hades for the first time with exagryph (aspect of hestia) on my 20th escape attempt lmao
I made a separate video talking about Shield of Chaos, because it got changes/buffs after the game released.
Didn't realize Gilgamesh was that new. I love Gilgamesh.
Yeah, it was added with release it wasn't in early access at all.
100 percent the same for me
My main thinking is the builds I can get with the weapons like Aegis I can get the Ares boon that applies doom on hit with the special and then with the hammer I can upgrade it to bounce to 4 more targets before coming back
On my fifth run I did this and got to Hades, he killed me, and I've not beaten him yet ten runs further, but I'm getting close xD
I favor the bow in a boss fight it's weak but in rooms it's like hunting in a maze of death and I like it.
Its second aspect makes for incredibly ez boss fights, the auto targeting makes you able to continue dealing dmg while fleeing. Just beat Hades with Ares' attacks and Aphrodite's technique.
@@jeandestremau5834 I stand corrected I just unlocked the gun zagreus and I will now bomb the shit out of mag.
Aspect of chiron with the right hammers+artemis boons can get you one hell of a fast hades fight, definitely not weak for bosses.
More like one the strongest and safest for bosses if geared right.
To me this is the most reasonable tearlist:
Exagryph - Q scaling / easiest to execute dash kiting
Coronacht - Punishing for beginners / people getting used to the aim. DESTROYS runs handily with the right upgrades.
Malphon - The best One-Two weapon in the game. Easy concept, dash in, pummel 1-3 orbits, dash back out, rinse and repeat.
Aegis - High utility, best defense in the game, lacks an overwhelming aggressive aspect for high pressure, high heat runs
Varatha - Superb range (basically half a screen or more) / scales badly due to low base values
Stygius
ive actually gotten the farthest using exclusively Demeter, i'm current at 20 heat and i love taking Zeus's Thunder Flourish when you get the "5 hits in a row" buff for your next Special, Striking an enemy with Thunderbolts 5 times, also stacking anything that ramps up special damage, usually take Doom for normal attacks and try to get "Applying multiple dooms increases damage" and since you are aiming to store 12 hits ASAP this is great ramp up damage while getting that buff, applying all Stygian marks possible on high threats, Demeter's Snow blast also helps while applying said marks for the big 5x Thunder Flourish damage on top of "Jolted", " X% chance to do double damage" and "Wider splash damage when lightning boons connect" utterly destroying a large crowd of enemies and really CHUNK away at Hades himself.
This is exactly my experience lmao!
Absolutely nothing can compare to the deadalus combo, cluster bom with rocket on exagryph. That's when shit gets crazy
Minotaur rush, piercing shot (daedalus) and literally any Poseidon born. Ez wins

Malphon is great for being aggressive!
Because if you kill an enemy, accelerate the cast drop speed it's a lot stronger to have more casts.
So, what do you think of the hidden aspect of Malphone? (missing in this video, I assume unlocked by then)
I think it's ok.
It’s mobility makes it easier to survive with.

twin fists with long knuckle and doom attack damage is an absolute god setup, the spear with athena's damage and deflect along with poseidons three projectile like attack boon is insanely good too plus with a little bit of extra range in there it becomes nearly unstoppable, i was able to make it all the way through elysium to the bull with it and that was with minimal upgrades, everything has it's own purpose for sure but the mele weapons in this game really do shine through in a lot of ways.
i really like the shield because i can block projectiles and attacks if i know i cant get out of the fast enough.
That's a big upside of the shield.
I haven't unlocked any other Bow aspects and focused on Zagreus and that carried me to my first escape at 22nd attempt. Getting proper Aphrodite and Artemis combos carry the game. Plus if you get with Athena Shield and Zeus' near miss, it's impossible to be beaten
I should also add, that either Two-Point Arrow + Explosive Shot OR Flurry Shot and Chain Shot. Makes the Bow SUPER RELIABLE. The second is simply braindead
The bow.

Achilles is easily the best spear aspect. It buffs all your damage.
It’s excellent, but I believe it’s one of the highest skill cap weapons in the game.
I didn’t enjoy play Stygius at all when I started but after playing a while and getting aspect of nemesis I quickly became my second favorite weapon (after aegis)
I love the combination of faster bull rushes and the barrage shot. You're literally invincible
It's a really fun combo. One of my favorites for sure.
Minotaur rush and piercing shot combos, along with tempest strike, got me a 4 heat win without using a single death defiance
@@rioranger5268 Congrats!
@@ildathet Hera + Aphrodite cast and Hera + Dio cast are also great, although Dio cast can't benefit from exit woulds.
@@Tenkiei i forgot it wasn't jojo for a moment x)
My favourite weapon is Exagryph with Eris because I love how it’s long range and you don’t have to be too close to your enemy and when you get the Daedeloues hammer enchantments it gets way better.
i just finished beating Hades with a bow. Didn't even unlock aspects yet but interested in trying out the other ones. It being ranged seemed like the safest bet with the volley and doom.
Just play Chiron with Artemis special
So what are thoughts on the aspect of demeter now ? I think the extra hits with the special is insanely good
I still prefer other aspects over it, especially now that Gilgamesh has been added.
I’m very new to Hades and I just unlocked the rail today. But it is by far my favorite
If you haven't already, max out Zagreus. The extra ammo is a goddamn lifesaver.
Chiron bow, hands down. I melted everything with Artemis and Dionysus
Dio special? cause that totally obliterates
The bow is def not the best weapon what so ever there are def better weapons then the bow
Aspect of hera bow >>>>>>
I love playing the spear or fist. Especially with + range boons for fist or burst attack on spear. Just spamming on one place and get done with it.
I’m a person who loves swords and other blades. I also don’t love ranged weapons, mostly because I think aiming and shooting an enemy from a mile away is boring in games like this.
….
Then I used Aegis-
And HOLY SHIT-
It was really good!
Zagreus Sword
Build 1:
Hammers: Cursed Blade + Flurry Slash
Boons: Athena, Aphrodite, or Artemis (+Attack Speed Hermes buff helps too)
Note: You're pretty much UNKILLABLE with medium/high damage output. Just get some bonus hearts to prevent getting bursted.
Build 2:
Hammers: Hoarding Slash + Anything else (I like Flurry Slash)
Boons: >NO BOON< on Attack, Cast, or Special.
Malphon Demeter with Artemis Special attack and the flying kick is super fun.
Arhur and chaos shield with ares are my favorutes
Tho, I really love Athenas boons.
my favorite weapon is vartha but i just got the game so i dont really know the combat system very well
I’m curious about your thoughts on the Hammer upgrades: Used to swear by Stygius especially because of curse blade after I got it but my first successful escape happened to be with the spear because the stars alligned giving me the hammer for the triple dash attack strike for it at the start of the run which I then built my entire run on which caused the hades fight to be like a minute with me still having all my death defies afterwards.
I think that the strongest weapon aspects aren't very reliant on hammer upgrades. But many of the weaker aspects can go from "meh" to "godly" with the right hammer/boon combo.
My strongest weapon is probably the rail. I also like the sword a lot. I hate the spear, and I don’t like the shield. The bow and the fists are fine.
I hated the spear till I used hades aspect, I love spin/dash attack runs with it
Im very new to Hades and I'm having difficulties with all weapons except Aegis because it gives me the option to block incoming attacks and projectiles while the others do not.
How do i get the aegis charge to turn into a shot? Is it a daedalus hammer or a boon?
Yep it's a hammer boon.
The shield does take a bit more getting used to. But now that I've practiced with it I quite like the playstyles.
Aspect of Arthur also makes for some good dash builds.
@@Tenkiei I will have to unlock it then! I do not have a lot of titan blood since I only play with the spear and gauntlets.
I try to use multiple weapons to learn each one, but my current favorites are the spear and the bow!
I like the fork, especially if i get the range boost, allowing me to skewer things from hell to mars
Personally these are my favourite aspects for each weapon:
Stygius- nemesis for big crits
Varatha- Guan Yu bc charged skewer
Coronacht- Chiron for hangover stacks
Aegis- Beowulf is by far the most op weapon in the game
Fists- Demeter for normal fists but also big burst damage
Exagryph- Hestia for ohkoing all non bosses
I like the video but as someone’s who’s newer to the game I would’ve appreciated if you had visuals for each “aspect” as just saying the name of each aspect for someone new to me meant nothing (I didn’t know which aspect did what just by the name alone)
