- President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Sunday afternoon, April 5, 2020, plans to build eight new temples throughout the world.

Tallahassee, Florida
Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Benin City, Nigeria
Syracuse, Utah
Dubai, United Arab Emirates

As a former 14 year resident of Dubai, I never thought we would have a temple in that part of the world. The only church owned and purpose-built building in the entire Middle East is the Stake Center in Abu Dhabi, which was built on land donated by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. The other branches of the church meet in rented villas.
A couple years ago when our Stake President Jeffery Singer was called to be our Area Rep. I went to congratulate him on his new calling. Playfully I asked him a bold question, " When are we getting a temple?" He looked me squarely in the eye and said, "I don't know. Why don't you pray us one, Sister?"
"I will," I replied. I loved the way he turned responsibility for a temple back to me... making me feel like my prayers and faith were part of the solution. That question became a private joke for us, that we each asked the other whenever we met. The answer was always, "Still praying," given with a smile.
I began to invite other members of my ward to join me in praying for that impossible temple. I even picked the temple site in my mind as a small rocky hill near the south border of Dubai and instead of seeing an barren and rocky hill covered in satellite dishes, I envisioned a beautifully landscaped hill topped with a tall and brightly shining temple. I called it Temple Hill, and told my family and friends that that ugly hill was my mental site for a future temple.
Of course, the temple will be built where ever the Lord directs His servants. That impossible temple is coming! Thanks to God, the question of getting a temple was answered in our lifetimes! Now my prayers are prayers of gratitude!

Having received my mission call in Dubai and having stayed there for a long time, I can not believe how grateful I am to see the temple being built in Dubai.
I just can't wait to go back after my mission here in congo.

This Church is guided and directed by a living God because it is His church. I am so blessed to be member of it.
I got so excited when he announced the Tallahassee, Florida temple. Born and raised there, living in Utah for school but may very well move back home. I couldn’t focus for very long and it turned out to be a blessing that the conference center was closed because I don’t know if I would have contained myself. After three minutes of excitement I said “wait did he just say Shanghai??” What a joyous day we live in, God speaks to His children and we are constantly being cared for and instructed by Him ❤️
I knew a third temple for Florida was inevitable. I always figured it would be either in Tallahassee or Jacksonville.

Shanghai and Dubai! My heart is overfilled with joy 😭❤️ I served a mission in China, Hong Kong and I have met Mainland members who are so faithful. They will have a temple!!! No word in the dictionary can describe exactly how I feel 😭 God loves ALL His children!

As when then freiberg temple was announced our hearts were uncontainable with joy!
Now that these holy houses of God are to be built where we thought impossible, how great is our humility before the savior that his mercy is over all his footstool.

How blessed this people on earth are, to have the blessings of the temple! Oh my Chinese friends, what happiness you will begin to know, with a temple in your midst! My heart is so full for all of God's children, to begin to secure their families for eternity! How blessed, how blessed!
Truly a historic day for the church, a temple announced in the middle east and China!!! Hopefully missionaries will be allowed in China in the coming years. I've seen the wonderful Chinese people so readily accept the gospel while serving a mission in Sydney Australia. It will be incredible when that announcement comes!
I appreciate the church going through the front door and being respectful of other countries laws. I remember many years ago watching on TV some people sneaking bibles into China at the expense of the Chinese people potentially being punished for possession.
Diplomacy, humanitarian aid, prayers and the members there being good citizens. A much more effective way😊

All I can say is WOW!! The spirit of God like a fire is burning , the latter-day glory begins --and continues !!-- to come forth. I am so grateful for a living prophet of God in this earth in these latter-days! And for the prophet Joseph Smith. I know he is the prophet of the Restoration -- and that this is Jesus Christ's church restored as at first , with proper priesthood authority . Thank you God for this conference !! I remember when president Nelson made this historic announcement, of getting temples in Dubai, and in the People's Republic of China! This is proof that if we want the blessings of the Temple, then God will perform miracles so that we can get one close to where we live. He indeed does love each of us with an infinite love, as well as hears and answers our heartfelt prayers! I've prayed many times that they would get a temple in China and this is one in mainland China.

I served my mission In Pittsburgh. One of the last things we talked about in my last zone conference was a temple. My mission president said we shouldn’t expect a temple for at least ten years. That was two years ago. Boy I’m glad he was wrong.

Alicia Ogbologugo while attending a temple open house is a fantastic experience, being worthy to attend the dedicated temple and making such attendance a part of your life is far better. You can become a member if you want to, it isn't very hard, & although there may be opposition, the blessings and the Spirit you will receive and feel will be worth it! I personally love conference,,,getting too hear our Saviors thoughts for all to enjoy, however...I feel quite badly for the people who don't believe in God or anything from our Heavenly Father,,,So Sad, If they could feel even for one day the love our heavenly father,/and our Savior has for them they would have a mighty change of heart.. Just my thoughts,,RTD, FROM SLC

We are witnessing more miracles as new temples are announced. Dubai and Shanghai are clear evidence of the hastening of the work.

Every single time our Prophet announces new Temples. I die a little more when he doesn't mention the country of Scotland.
I think it will happen soon and for Ireland too.
