  • President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints met with Pope Francis inside the Vatican Saturday, the first meeting between a Latter-day Saint president and a pope. The visit comes a day before President Nelson dedicates the Church’s first temple in Rome. President Nelson was joined by President M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

I differ. I dont c it as a cult. I have lived it as well. The doctrines centre around the advancement of God and Christs kingdom, the salvation and exaltation of man and the advancement of the human race. Hi, i am not really sure what your question implies or if i have interpreted it correctly. We not really about judging other religions or to bring them down. We believe in religious freedom to all religions with respect . It is up to Christ the ultimate judge of us all to judge. We only have religious practices and beliefs open to all that we believe can help us return to our creator God our Father in Heaven. That said, doesnt make or imply that lds members are better or holier than others. It is determined by ones personal willingness, efforts or degree of living the universal gospel of Christ.

Temple attendance entails the making of covenants with eternal significance and of great importance. Worthiness is a matter of determining that none would erroneously or inadequately make such covenants!!
(Also, flesh and blood is not that which abides the presence of God, and it is written, that "there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth," as pertains to the place in which God dwells.)

I love President Nelson and Pope Francis. It's such an exciting time to live in the world with two such open-hearted, spiritually sensitive leaders working side by side. Pope Francis has been on my mind and in my thought ever since he was called. I've been following his words and good deeds since he was called. I am so grateful for President Nelson, his stunning ability to think holistically and globally and to change the things that no longer serve the communities in which we live. Both men are called especially for this day and age to be personal, thinking of the good of the family and to consider how they can help that very basic unit of society to thrive in every country of the world.

I pray that you aren't deceived by these men. Pope Francis is ungodly. He's not a"Christian". He's puffed up with pride. (Matt. 23:12) (Matt. 16:26). Baptism, communion, or any good thing you do can't save you. (Ephesians 2:8-9)(Titus 3:5). If so, what Jesus did was in vain.(1 Cor. 15:13-14). Jesus said he didn't come to bring peace but a sword/division. (Matt. 10:34). The bible states in the end times there will be a one world religion in which Pope Francis is trying to achieve. (Rev. 13:11-15). All you have to do to get saved is admit you're a sinner. (Romans 3:23) Believe Jesus is God who saved you through his blood shed on the cross. (Colossians 1:14, 20)(Ephesians 1:7) Repent/Turn from/Change of mind. Feel sorry you sinned against God. (2 Cor. 7:10) And finally, say it to God in prayer. (Romans 10:9). I know this is a lot, but the bible warns us of false doctrine. (1 Tim. 4:1). May God bless you with this insight! *(1 Cor. 15:1-4) Gospel.*

Christ never did anything like this, so it's nice to have reassurances in decisions to withdraw from and recognize mormonism for what it is. A power, status, and wealth struggle of the ages. Certainly gets the gold from coming literally from nothing and hanging on for dear life by His Holiness' robes and cathedrals after receiving His Holiness' forgiveness for McConkie and that inconvenient book of mormon itself speaking so poorly of the catholic empire. Glad to see the seers and revelators getting intimate with catholic "his holiness" and the word of wisdom (which started as religious musings with allowances for moderate drinks and wine for sacrament then later became commandment by later leaders with even "tea" becoming evil later on [all the while pretending the whole meat part isnt there too] and distancing itself from the book of mormon warnings and condemnation of Catholicism. Who needs inconvenient theology when there is money, fame, and long desired legitimacy, photo-ops and pandering to be had! Billion dollar shopping malls and ranches and Vatican's to invest in! When you take in 6BIllion (known not because of any desire to be transparent by the church, only forced transparency due to an honorable info leaker) it is easier to at least give a 100 million or so to actual charity! There are many general authority salaries to pay in this "unpaid ministry" and business ventures to preoccupy oneself with to give more, unfortunately! Brother,
I forgive you for your words.
You should ask our Father in Heaven for forgiveness daily. I do that.
Prophets throughout the Bible taught the truth, and so did Jesus Christ. I don't understand why it upsets you that people who belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, say they know the church is true. If you know something is true, and can bless the world to be a much better place, why keep it inside. I love to tell people that I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true, because it is. I've seen how it changes people, and helps people to know that they can be with loved ones and God forever, if they choose to follow Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ said to a Samaritan woman at a well: "Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews."
This shows, that if we do it in a kind way, we can say that we know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's New Testament Church restored, because Jesus Christ himself declared to the woman at the well that the Jews had the saving and exalting ordinances and covenants, which were given to them by Jesus Christ himself. The Church Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints likewise has the authority given by our Savior to administer the vital saving, and exalting ordinances, that can bind us to God forever.
I hope this clarifies some misunderstanding.
      God bless you!

Pope Francis and Russell Nelson could end world hunger in a day, with one simple command, and still have billions of dollars left over. And instead, the LDS church would rather spend $1.5 BILLION developing the City Creek Shopping Mall in Salt Lake City where privileged middle class Mormons can shop for diamond jewelry at Tiffany’s, or if you’re feeling sinful you can get a coffee at Nordstrom’s for a caffeinated energy burst to get you through your shopping spree... These latter-days were prophesied to be wicked and corrupt, funnily enough, by the very same institutions that are behind it all.

We are allowed to have one spouse, having more than one will get you excommunicated.
Our leaders all have only one (or no wife), however, when someone in the church gets married in the temple they get sealed to their spouse, and if the wife dies, and the husband gets re-married, they will be sealed to two wifes, so technically speaking President Nelson is sealed to two women since his first wife died and he was remarried. I'm not sure about any other recent general authorities though. If you are referring to early church leaders, it was a similar situation take Joseph Smith for example, he was sealed to a couple dozen women who all were alive, and he was sealed to them. Despite what people say pretty much all of them were non-sexual relationships, they were sealed to him and went on with their normal lives. Like the woman who people like to talk about who was 14, if I'm not wrong she had a journal that was kept (I haven't read it, just say someone say this, it's on my list of things to do though) and she says herself that after the sealing, she had next to no contact with Joseph.
Thanks for referring to us as a cult and being respectful about it! I'm glad people are starting to use cult in the proper context and not the misconception that it's bad. To be fair though, if I were you I would've used religion since cult applies to more than just religions.
