This is our initial video in a series showing the revival of a 1963 VW Single Cab truck. Follow along as we get this truck back on the road while keeping the awesome patina.
I too am starting a single cab metal work. If you guys get her done by fall, I will be impressed!!! My gates took me sixty hours alone! CIP has a few available right now, and on sale with free shipping!
Had a 64,66, and a 67. The 67 got painted and reupholstered over 30 years ago. 67 had a large back window. In those days a you could buy one for a few hundred. Wished I never sold it. Still have some sliding glass and connestoga top grommets. The Thing used the same method to secure the top.
Shewwww that's a rusty single cab I LOVE IT!!!! That Patina is absolutely fantastic!! That front kick plate under the headlights on the interior going across the bottom of the floor you might find some souvenirs behind that! Great project!
Realizing that someone sent this Bus to me when I was still hunting for a Scab a month or so ago. Glad it was bought and it receiving the attention it deserves! Ya’ll are gonna make a killer truck! Very excited to see it take shape ✌🏻
Glad you guys are going to try and save it ! I own 3 restored VW trucks . Not sure where you are located but if you need anything I have a fair amount of single cab and double cab parts .
Well, I'm very excited about that. That sounds so easy when you make it.....we're going to a few meetings with it in the summer.....that looks worse than it is...... I'm currently making a window bus and it's not half bad... good luck to you, I'll stick with it
I didn’t read all the comments but you said you want to name it. Because of the bottle you found maybe name it brownie! Just a thought. Will be fun tagging along on the build.
Looks like a hell of a project. Good job you can get plenty of panels! I've not done an early bus but seen plenty - I'd get it washed and buffed with a fine scotch pad, lose all the loose rust. Then take off that bed and start soda blasting the frame and inside the treasure chest area. Only then can you see what you're really dealing with. Good luck, I'll be following you!
Flat sheet metal is one option we have considered along with some type of wooden bed. Whatever we do, I would like to match the patina on the truck. I can artificially age whatever we use, but I also want it to look "period" correct for the truck. Thanks for the suggestion.
I tell you who you could go to for some help on that VW TRUCK that is MUSTIE 1 he rebuilt a VW TRUCK like that one or simular to it and did a great job on it too I watched him do it he had to do a lot of patch work on it maybe not as much as that be he did some it looked just like a NEW one when he got thru with it
The girls annoying my homie specializes in type 2 volkswagen restoration seen the rarest volkswagens at his shop when I fixed my engine on my slip window
I’m having a panic attack imagining this restoration… wheww … I want to follow this job

THANKS FOR THE cONTENT mAYBE build wooden tray and side doors
Along for the ride 👍🏴
Nice project.. gonna be a fun to watch
For the bed a flat decent gauge sheet metal would be a nice replacement than the corrugated metal. Mustie1 did something similar to his single cab.

Call it IRON ORE.
The @wickedwerks channel is also currently doing a resto on a 63 single cab.
We are following his single cab also.
