Thank you for uploading this battle. Love watching the Honda NSX R and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution dominate on this track. The Subaru Impreza STi RA and Mitsubishi GTO were very impressive too.
It looked like just a standard WRX RA not a STI RA which makes even more imprazive...
2nd fastest car was RX-7 if you check the best lap times. It's quite impressive, considering it is the least powerful (255 hp vs "280" rated cars that actually have over 300 hp)
@Jack Kello Thank you for English subtitles on these fantastic videos! I have watched just about every BM video I can find (without eng subs) and it is frustrating to not know exactly what they are saying.
I have owned 2 of the cars in this battle and driven both/competed with them on circuits in the US. It’s important for viewers to remember these are showroom stock cars as they came and it’s really apparent with the GTR in this battle as, for some reason, an oil cooler was an option it didn’t have. It also was launched improperly (easy to do with awd+turbo) and as a result suffered from clutch flambé. This was also the case with the FD’s if I recall, as they were prone to overheating until Mazda fitted them with an external oil cooler. In fact BM staged an endurance at Tsukuba and hard wired oil and water temp gages to each car just to see how long you could push 10/10th’s.
It was not surprising then that the EVO and STi both remained coolest as they were originally engineered and sold as homologated street versions of the WRC car.
You will notice in this battle the NA1 NSX R enjoyed the plus size wheel and tire package that Honda made standard on all NSX’s in 94, allowing for a wider tire front and rear. The NSX uses ALL of the contact patch as a result of its beautifully sophisticated suspension and super stiff monocoque chassis.

And for the Supra fans, he notices the ABS kicking in earlier and earlier in the 2nd heat and notes that this happens when the brake pads are worn down significantly, which seems inevitable on a circuit like Tsukuba, in those cars braking HARD from 90-110 mph twice a lap on stock pads and brake fluid! I completely erased a new set of OEM pads on an S2000 I owned on its first track day on a track with similar qualities when the track pads I ordered hadn’t arrived in the mail.
The EVO (and STi) in stock form had a tendency to heavily wear the outside shoulders of its front (street) tires after a day of lapping, so it makes since that by the end of heat 2 the driver cannot enter corners quickly relative to some of the MR/FR cars-a trait Dori Dori mentions at the end.
Sorry if I rambled on here, I just love this era and I’m a big fan of these shows from back then. Liked and subscribed.

@@josephbrady711 Yeah back then in 2000 Tsukuba even had an exclusive deal with Driving Emotion Type-S. The only "Real" Circuit GT1-3 had was Laguna Seca.
If i have learnt anything from these vids, it is that the NSX is outrageously underrated and overlooked in the western world.

Its just engine tuning potential from gtr and supra and fast and furious hype.
Nsx r was perfected from factory with all round balance and reliability.
R32 GT-RS actually has 270bhp, but having watched enough of these videos, the R33s and R34s definitely had more than 280bhp

I maybe wrong here but that evo2 being one of the earlier cars didn't have as as much power as the later cars with 276 bhp. It did really well if that's the case. That said it was a light car. Also I say 276 bhp but rumors still circulate of the cars exceeding the 276 gentleman's agreement for manufacturers in Japan.

They're not rumors, I've watched a dyno test of a completely stock R32 GTR done in 2016, still making 315bhp.
The Skylines and GTOs were making 302-330 hp.

@@CurtisSmal it did have a clear advantage with its AWD system. The supra just wasn't able to get its power down as efficiently, also its heavy af lol

It was having technical problems during the latter half of the races. Doesn't help that its seemingly stock which is the most unimpressive state it could've been in lol.
