We realized after the video what the song was about....... apologies. We got so caught up in the music and ignored the visuals at certain points. This was a rough video to share with you all, but we loved the song. -Alan
You should go back and watch it with the subtitles, the lyrics at parts are very vague but it is about WWII and everyone losing because the war made them lose something in one way or another. But the song is awesome, so don't feel ashamed for enjoying the song while not exactly understanding it. Love the shifts in it and the visuals the video gives. Good pick for your first song from them, probably one their most poignant song. Honestly, they have a lot of sad but meaningful songs. Ain't afraid to die or Mushi always hits me hard even before I understood the lyrics, Kyo is able to convey his emotions so easily while he sings. Typically people choose Obscure because of the music video making for a more straight forward react video. It is a strange video though and entertaining in a very mature way.
They've actually stated the song isn't about WWII, the visuals in their videos are normally about "an idea that relates to the song" moreso than a literal connection. I think you guys were actually really on point with the interpretation you had without even reading the lyrics.
@@happycapy47 huh, I don't read interviews typically so understandable I assumed. So I misunderstood them also, I took things to literally. They do go out on a limb with their lyrics and its meaning.
I don't think you have anything to apologize for. I would think if the band saw your reaction, they'd just nod and say, "These guys get it." In fact, after watching lots of your videos, this is the one that gets a subscribe from me. Well done, guys.
The fact that you cried without even understanding the whole message shows (obviously) not how deeply you understood the song, but how deeply did you feel it. Dir en Grey is a soul wrecker train, not because of the heaviness and the growls (which are there in many many songs to the full extreme) but because of what they speak about. A language that needs no translation. It was beautiful to see you surrender to real human atrocities. That's the song in a nutshell.
Arete and amen. 👌 There is also the masterclass in stage performance (especially from Kyo) that draws you in. I've seen people go from completely uninterested, to enthralled just by seeing Kyo's theatrics. I can only pray to one day put as much passion into a performance as these guys do.
This is what music is about. You don't speak the language, you don't understand the lyrics, but you can feel the goddamn music. Amazing band, saw them live in LA last December. One of the greatest shows I've ever been to. Was last band I got to see live before the world went to shit...imagine that.
@@WookieSenshi That's awesome. Never been to Houston, but I've always wanted to. Was a great show for me out here in LA. I had tickets to see Crystal Lake too, but Corona shut that show down indefinitely.
Thank you for choosing this wonderful song. This song has a strong message and sings the misery of the war with its own interpretation. Actually, I live in Hiroshima. I have learned about the misery of the atomic bomb since I was little. However, the Japanese do not hate people even if they hate war. thank you very much.ありがとう👍
@@dicodec if you get a chance to see them live, it is always worth it. I've seen them twice but not in over a decade so i can't imagine how more amazing their shows are now
I genuinely think that watching their live performance of this now that you know what it's truly about would be epic right about now. You can see people cry in the audience during this song. It's as powerful as it gets. And really Kyo's vocals live on that song are just beyond words.
this has got to be one of the most honest reactions I have seen in a while. I have seen them live twice way back in like 2005? I think and haven't listened to them in quite a while. But damn it's about time to get back into their music. Kyo's voice is just legendary and always made me so emotional. Thank you for this
The song's lyric is pretty complex. It's basically using the atomic bomb as an example in my opinion. Is the "common sense" of what we and/or the society believes as "evil" really evil? Is what we believe as "not evil" really so? The song is more like an anti death penalty song. The people that the society believes should be dead is now in pain and is suffering. So basically, United States killed tons of Japanese by atomic bomb. Actually killed way more by normal bombing called carpet bombing. Japan was harassed and punished even after the damage was given. US believed Japan is evil therefore, Japan deserved to get all the damage and suffering that we see in the video. However, the lyric asking about whether the punishment and revenge is just? So it's obvious that the lyric is not sending rage or hatred towards any country or race. It's towards "the punishment". No matter what the reason, vengeance is not just. That's what seems like the message in the lyric. The main character in the song is an individual that is about to get executed due to death penalty. And it's the inside of a mind of that person from what I see.
You are the first one in comment who have closest interpretation to what I think about this song. I think this song is about the pain of what is thougt as”evil”. People tend to trample dem down without hesitating. this is an anti-heroic mind of human beings .
@@里中桑園 Yeah, I can sense the strong message from Kyo. Telling us to have our own mind and thought and don't get brainwashed. And I'm sure he'll say that he's not trying to send out message or control us in certain way. He wants us to be "free" in a way I guess. Hard to explain, but this guy is a genius at explaining and expressing what's in people's heart and mind. Absolutely brilliant!
You have very valid points and I applaud you for your thoughts and consideration on this. It is easy for us at this time and this place to judge history. I had uncles who served in the Pacific. I got them to open up about it. Knowing what I do I cannot pass judgement on them. Walk a mile in their shoes. At that time at that place in history what would you really do? You will never really know. Don't judge too harshly. Sins were committed on both sides. I justify nothing just asking for understanding.
Hiroshima. First atomic bomb. Nagasaki, the second. The images are mostly historical film and illustrations of actual events-flying over city, bomb dropping, black rain, radiation burns that killed survivors years later, bodies burning in river, shadows of people vaporized etched onto the stone, school kids killed on playground, 2 cities leveled, the Urakami Catholic Church in Nagasaki...war is hell. Hiroshima survivors are now worried that younger people are forgetting about the horrors of nuclear war, so the song is timely, but people have to understand what they're seeing.
If you want to react to a live video of theirs you have to do the most popular live performance of Macabre. It's a very theatrical, engrossing progressive piece that has a really cool theme which is helped greatly by subtitles for the vocals and showcases a lot of the insane techniques their singer Kyo is capable of. It's a 10+ minute song that sucks you in and keeps you engaged the entire way, highly, highly recommended.
I have never seen such a great , emotional , genuine reaction ! Alan is really very sensitive to emotions in the sound and the voice, just like he showed to Lovebites songs before ..... Eric's arms were shaking .... You guys have genuine hearts. Bravo !!
Amé sus reacciones, DIR EN GREY es una banda fenomenal, por favor sigan reaccionando a sus canciones, se van a llevar una grata sorpresa. Ellos trascienden la música. Un abrazo desde Colombia.
You mention liking storytelling music and I think this song is a great example of music being written as a metaphor, specifically for the Pacific part of the War. The dreary, slow buildup that goes into a bit heavier- The start of the in the Pacific, the building horror as the Japanese commit their war crimes and the world becomes galvanized into doing something about it. It just builds an builds, getting heavier and heavier as tensions get to the point where the bomb is released, the bomb falls to the ground and then- Everything suddenly cranks up to 11. As the bomb goes off, so does the band. The music and Kyo's vocals at this time illustrate the complete destruction of Hiroshima as the explosion levels buildings, vaporizes people in an instant and smoke chokes the sky. It goes on and on until it then suddenly stops, The dust had settled, the music becomes soft and somber, and the aftermath of the bombing is setting in. There isn't any more chaos but there is quiet desolation in Hiroshima as the survivors, probably shocked by now, are processing what just befell them. There is a bit more musical buildup that's like the buildup of emotions as everyone realizes how bad things actually are.The song actually could have ended here without the repeated "explosion" section, but, and this is what solidified my belief that the music itself is supposed to be a metaphor for the war, they go into it again because this time it represents the bombing of Nagasaki. The lyrics themselves appear to be from the POV of a Japanese soldier who feels guilty about the atrocities he's committed, and they also touch on the kind of things people do when they think they're in the right. They aren't just a specific lamentation about the bombings but also a blanket condemnation of all sides who wrought suffering on others in the name of whatever ideology they held as right.
I still cry in this song and I bought the album when it came out in like 10 years ago. It's so intense, powerful and brilliant. I'm glad you got to hear my favourite band.
I started listening to this band many years ago and I am still a huge fan to this day. :) Great reaction! Glad to see more people appreciate them, because they deserve it.
I'm really happy for you're react them and for you liked it! You can feel this emotion in every music of they have. Vinushka is a perfectly example of this. Thanks for the react guys! I'm excited to see you react another musics of Dir En Grey. I very recommend the live version of all the musics you can find and the musics mentioned in other comments.
Kyo is, without a doubt, the greatest vocalist of our time. Not just because of his range, but because of the amount of emotion and soul he pours into it. The fact that he brought you to tears even without understanding the language is evidence enough. Dir en Grey is an amazing band and their evolution over the years has been a pleasure to experience.
Found your channel through this video. Such a genuine reaction. I've been listening to Dir en grey for 16 years now and it's so amazing to see new people discover them, especially with people who just get the music and don't get caught up in the language barrier. I highly recommend watching the live version, specifically from the Androgynous tour (day 2); No other band compares to them live-none. Kyo (vocals) is one of the best, if not the best, preformers you will ever see-the emotions he coveys are like nothing else. I've see them live three times, they tour through the U.S. every few years, if you ever get the chance, it's the most amazing concert you'll ever experience. I would love you see you react to the live version of this I mentioned above, as well as MACABRE (live tabula rasa 2013)-an absolute masterpiece from vocals to instrumentals. Decayed Crow (from Tour2011 Age Quod Agis) live is always spectacular to see a reaction of-Kyo was losing his voice that night, Decayed Crow was the last song of the night and he just blew it away with everything he had. You will not be disappointed with any of their songs. Subscribed and looking forward to more from you guys!
Thank you so much! Yes this band is absolutely amazing. You can feel it all in Kyo's vocals. Definitely, will be reacting to the lives going forward. We can't wait to hear them. Thanks for the suggestions makes picking the next songs to react to a breeze haha.
I know this band since i was 14 know I‘m 30, saw them live twice and bro your reaction is like everybody who saw this for the first time and I love it!! This band is pure magic every song is different with pure emotions. i hope u guys will react to more of dir en grey!!
All I have to say is KUDOS!!! I I have not seen a more honest reaction to Dir en Grey ever! Awesome job guys! I’ve been a fan for 15 years and this bad has evolved so much I don’t think there’s any other band I can compare to.
Saludos !
So cool you finally reacted to Dir en grey! Really loved your genuine reaction. They made 10 albums, all with a different feel. Hard to pick good suggestions that appeal to you. I recommend from their earlier period Shokubeni (shot in 1 take) Dead tree and Audience killer loop (live), from their later period Blossoming beelzebub, Amon, Behind a vacant image and Keigaku no yoku. Their lives are awesome, but the vocals are more beautiful in the studio versions.
Great reaction! Seing such genuin reactions always makes me so happy. This is what music should be. Touching people across boarders and languages. If you want to see more of them, the ballad Tousei is beautiful live.
I am so glad you picked this song! I recommend LIVE version: Vinushka [ANDROGYNOUS a view of the Acro] Their live performance will exceed the music video.
This... this is an awesome reaction. And this is what I like. You don't have the lyrics. You don't know the band. But you get the feeling. That's empathy. Universal empathy. The human experience is the same regardless of where you live. And music, and visuals, and expression are enough to deliver a message... Even without language. I cried before you did... This song rips me to pieces, and the video more so. The sheer lengths people go to hurt one another and the pointless suffering... I cried hard when I saw you crying too... That was genuine, honest, reality... I'm extremely glad you uploaded such a raw reaction. There's no apology required. This is what music, and art, is about. The shared experiences of being human. Dir en grey are a very special band.
Dir En Grey are probably the first or second Japanese band I had ever heard of and they looked and sounded completely different from how they do now. Great song and great reaction guys.
Dicodec Just different imo (good in their own ways). Some of their old stuff was more conventional-ish Japanese rock, then they had a bit of a mid 2000s rock/metal style, and more recently it’s been more metal. It’s hard to say though, they’ve pretty much always had a very unique style. They have a very diverse discography.
I showed the live performance of this to a good friend once. He knew nothing about Dir En Grey, and would not normally listen to this kind of stuff. What I didn't expect- is that he would cry. My friend looks like he could be a character in Sons Of Anarchy, or Grand Theft Auto (covered in tats, head shaved into a mohawk, drinks like a fish, and loves to fight), so it was too surreal seeing him crying and saying that this song is one of the saddest things he has ever heard. I would think it a bit odd if someone DIDN'T at least shed a tear to this one. You should check out the live version of this song (maybe you have?) and hear how just as amazing their sound is. And not just Dir En Grey- but seemingly a great deal of other Japanese rock bands as well: NoGoD, The Gazette, Maximum The Hormone- they seem to have an excellently tight capability for live production in Japan.
Thank you guys for such an honest reaction. Music is such a powerful medium, and the message in this song is so important. If every world leader could see this music video, I think the world could become a slightly better place. Sorry, I went a bit off on a tangent, but this song really captures the horror of these weapons. Subscribed for the MTH reactions, but man I love Dir En Grey too. And I think you guys are the best react channel I’ve come across.
Another vote here for the Saku, Kodou, Revelation of Mankind trilogy. They all sort of go together, but Kodou in particular is one of my all time favorites. The melody is strong and builds up to this incredibly timed climax that just punches you right in the gut emotionally. Similar to this one, its one of those great pieces of music that has that unique ability to move you, without needing to understand the deeper context.
Honestly, if you have the opportunity at some point, go see them live. You'll come out of it completely changed, seriously. This band is so fucking incredible, and Vinushka is such a tiny (yet absolutely amazing) part of what they can do. So glad you got to discover them !!
Glad you guys are finally getting into Dir en Grey! As long as you get recommended the right stuff I'm sure you guys will fall in love with them. I would suggest either Macabre 2013 live on Tabula Rasa, or Tousei [subbed] from Dir en grey.
I unexpectedly cried watching the reactions of you both at almost the last part of the song, how you both expressed those sweet and considerate thoughts about the music itself and how you thought about what happened without knowing what the lyrics said were deeply PRICELESS!!! 🖤, thank you for filming it, please do like this again with their other masterpieces like "Dead Tree, Dozing Green, Conceived Sorrow and The Pledge" I'll wait no matter how long it takes.... 🖤🩶🖤🩶
I've been looking forward to the day you guys would get the chance to look into some Dir En Grey! They've been my favorite band for years, so it's great to see more people getting into their music too. Since they've done so many different styles and sounds over the years, it can be difficult to figure out what song is best for a first impression, but I think Vinushka was a great choice as an introduction. As good as the studio version of this song is though, I'd highly recommend checking out their live performance of this song at from Androgynous at Yokohama Arena on 7.8.17, it's probably their best live of this song yet, especially vocally. I think where Dir En Grey really shines is in the live setting, so I'd always recommend a live performance over any studio recording and they always put everything they have into every performance, so it's always a great experience. I'd also recommended checking out their subtitled performance of their song Zakuro, it's a completely different type of track, but it has to be one of Kyo's most emotional and visceral performances ever.
We're so happy y'all have reccomended this band to us. We did not expect we would love it as much as we did. We look forward to reacting to more so any suggestions yall can give please keep them coming. We will be more than happy to react to them.
This is song is my favorite masterpiece of all time I knew it since I was 8 and I love it until today.. 14 years later and I feel the pain of the song more from year to year
I loved the whole video, thanks for giving this great band a chance, for my part I will wait for other songs, but live, they won't regret, greetings from Chile.
We're glad everyone suggested this band to us. The song was amazing as well as the band! We have more Dir En Grey reacrions on the way. I think we do have a live planned.
Beautiful song - I’m so glad you guys found it as effecting and as powerful as I did the first time I saw this video & heard this band. If you’re interested in looking at a live version of this song I’d definitely recommend the version they performed on their 2018 tour - the TH-cam video has the lyrics subtitled and it’s a remarkable experience to hear & read the lyrics together - I’ll link it below. I’d love to see whatever you decide to veiw from DEG going forward!
This song was such a wave of emotion coming at us unexpectedly. We'd definitely love to see the live version and feel the different between the live and the studio version. The link would be greatly appreciated. Also thank you and there will definitely be more Dir En Grey coming up.
Okay, I just loved your reactions! One of the best I've seen so far. It would be soooo cool to see you react to other songs of this band. For example one of their newest songs "The world of mercy". The long 10 min version. There's a live version from March when they did a yt-concert in an empty concert hall. Or the uncensored video of "Obscure" :D
Damn dude, you just earned a subscriber. Good reactions, love the energy. I also love that you didn't turn a song down bc it was Japanese/gave it the attention it needs. Granted Japanese music overseas is becoming a lot more popular now than when I first started listening to it.
It would be awesome to see you react to more Dir en Grey!!! Thery're one of my long-time favorites. Also one of my main current band obsession is Unleash the Archers, I would suggest watching "Abyss" first!
Been waiting for you too listen to Dir En Grey!! I love them so much!!!! If you want to check out more of them, my faves are 'Macabre' or 'Aint afraid to die' and you have to react to a live version next!!! Keep the great vids coming!! 💕
I fucking love this band, I told you guys, I'm really glad you reacted to this song and loved it, good reaction. I hope you guys keep reacting to Dir en Grey songs, they have very good songs. I love your videos. PS: I recommend Uroko, Macabre, Obscure ... Well I could say a lot more but with these you can start.
Thank you so much! We will absolutely be reacting to more Dir en Grey. So thank you for the suggestions. You can expect more reactions to Dir En Grey for sure.
Bro when i first saw this video i cried and broke almost everything in my room, this gave me the same feeling 'wake up' by rage against the machine, or Dreamer by Prince, or wasteland by 10 years did. Him crying showed me he's a good human being, how could you not seeing humanities disgusting side, such a powerful message, Awesome reaction dude
That was more than worth the wait. Thank you for uploading this one guys! This song is really heavy, even more so with the video. They work together with the same video director for a lot of their videos and he always gives something like his take on the lyrics so the videos show a possible, but by far not the only, interpretation to a song. I think he outdid himself with this video as you can not get the image of the two bombs falling connected to the harsher parts out of your head. It fits so incredibly well. For me, I do not hear any anger in this song, just desperation and universal sadness over the way people destroy each other in the most horrific ways. You just have to look at the relations here: Japan attacked Pearl Harbour, a marine station. The attack was to cut America off from south asian resources. 2403 Americans died during this attack, nearly all of them soldiers. After this attack America declared war on Japan and thereby entered WWII. When they dropped the bombs the war had already ended. The Tenno had declared defeat although - Americans claim to this day that he hadn't and that the bombs had been necessary to win the war - even if they did not understand that defeat had been declared destroying large parts of their infrastructure in retaliation could have hardly had anything to do with a war that was already over everywhere else. They destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki where only a few domestic soldiers were stationed. They dropped the first on Hiroshima, killing 80.000 people instantly. Obviously they thought there would be a smaller impact but this was only Little Boy. Fat Boy dropped three days later, after America had to know about the real impact, on Nagasaki instead of Kyoto as planned, killing 22.000 civilians. 130.000 people died on their injuries within the year. It was a strategic and viscous attack designed to put a country to its knees and America hasn't been attacked on American soil by a foreign country since. There are still American soldiers stationed in Japan. The Japanese judical system as well as its school system are largely build after American example. But I find no mention of Japan being angry at America or seeking revenge. Most Japanese seem to see the bombings as cause and effect. They attacked first and America retaliated. This image is shown in the video. At the beginning you see the Japanese forces, pictures and videos of a proud military combined with pictures of their own militaries crime against Japanese, Chinese and Koreans - like people being executed by the military for desertation or other faults. The songs working title was 'A notice from Dublin'. Vinushka is a made up word probably of russian origin meaning something like "guilt you have to live with for the rest of your life". No matter if it is war or death penalty or even 'just' mobbing, people take actions they do not know the consequences of and every action, especially the violent ones, have a consequence either to yourself or to other people and you will have to live with that. You can not hurt someone and expect to remain unharmed in the process so to speak. Sorry for that weird history lesson, I have a feeling I get yelled at by someone with deeper historical knowledge any moment XD Please just bear in mind that I wanted to make this short I have my sources mostly from European books on the matter ^^''. I would really like to see you react to The World of Mercy next. My heart still hasn't recovered from hearing that song live. There is no full pv yet but a live version from The World You Live In live they held without audience due to covid and broadcasted live on TH-cam, the sound and video quality therefore isn't the best but the performance is still awesome and someone added lyrics to that version too. Otherwise go with the music only or grab something from someone else all their songs are really good 😊
We really appreciate the history lesson. It only adds more to the meaning of the song and video so thank you for that. Also we are more than happy to react to The world you live in. We definitely want to hear more Dir en Grey.
@@dicodec really glad to hear that ^^ I look forward to more Dir en grey on the channel! I can't post links at the moment but the song is called "The World of Mercy" the concert was called "The World You Live in". I think I was confusing 😅 I just looked up the video, it was postet by TxM and the title says "DIR EN GREY - THE WORLD OF MERCY [ENG SUBS/LYRICS]". Just remember their lives are usually way better filmed and recorded and they played in an empty hall with only a few seconds transmission relay to TH-cam.
When I saw the notification the only thing I thought was: "OH NO" and yeah..i was right x') I fuckin told u to not do this yet ahah This band is something else forreal, this band just breaks you on the inside and this is probably my favorite song from them.
I definitely understand what you're going through when I was watching the video, as my first experience with this song was similar. It was like busting a huge emotional and musical nut.
Wow where to start. An excellent example of the difference between good music and great music. Great music has a feeling, a story behind it, stirring your emotions. I want to research and translate this song/group. Off the top of my head the pictures are of the aftermath of dropping the atomic bombs. Not understanding the words my feelings are of the sorrow and violence of war. I want to learn more about this one. 5 star guys.🤘 Would love to sit and drink a beer with you guys and talk music. Your instincts are spot on.
Heck yeah let's do it! Always enjoy having a good chat with people about music. Totally agree with you on the difference between good and great music. This song is the perfect example. Such a strong message and story from a great band!
Hey guys, thanks for your great reaction video. 😁It was so much fun to watch it. And vinushka is my absolute favorite song of dir en grey ever. It's a masterpiece and so emotional ❤️
Gracias por reaccionar a Dir en grey en verdad es una banda increíble! They have gained a new subscriber, they really described what I felt when listening to this beautiful song. I agree, it's phenomenal.
I’ve been a huge fan of Dir en grey since 2001. I’m not saying that for cred, but rather as a setup for what I’m going to say next: Back in those days, if you wanted to see them in concert you flew to Japan. If you wanted an album you had to pay ridiculous shipping charges or had to rely on Limewire. This was just the way things were. You’d see someone complain on an online forum and there would always be a handful of party-poopers saying, “Dir en grey will never play outside Japan. Americans won’t listen to music that isn’t in English.” A lot. You heard this a lot. Someone would dream and then someone else would step all over that dream as quickly as possible. Starting in the mid-aughts, DEG proved those people wrong. They came to the US. They went on tour with Korn, and “Withering to Death” saw a US release. Since then, they’ve toured even more and visited several countries. When they do tour abroad, the demand is there. Because they’re that %$#@ing good, and music isn’t always about words. I had some “music reaction” videos in my recommendations today and thought I’d look to see if anyone reacted to DEG. I was kind of surprised to see that all the reactions were to “Vinushka” (I hadn’t seen the video and it’s not even in my top three on Uroboros, but now I get it) and just picked this one out of the pile. And this-THIS is what we were saying back around 2002 on the message boards. You don’t need to understand the words to understand the song, and a song is more than just the lyrics. I realize with the rise of Kpop those naysayers probably went on to commenting “ABUSE!” on cat videos or something. We’re sort of past that in the English-speaking world. But it still warms my heart now to see that people do listen to music in other languages AND enjoy it, simply because I heard the opposite so. damn. much. (Also, they’re playing in the US next year and I am %$#@ing excited.)
Dir en grey brought me to your channel . I didn't know you guys before but when i watched this GREAT REACTION i subscribed immediately . This band is unique and deserves your time , i'm looking forward more reactions about their songs , they have many phenomenal ones , check out Macabre live tabula Rasa 2013 it's a masterpiece
A song that I always recommend more than anything is DIMLIM - Vanitas. DIMLIM was heavily inspired by Dir En Grey, and Vanitas was a great example of them making that style in their own way. Vanitas combines at least 3 genres into one, Deathcore, jazz, and a ballad. It is truely a spectacular song
Man even you guys got breakdown. Wait until you watch this song live in japan. The crowd there just weeping and crying for a war that happened for generations way before. The trauma and pain are still there even when they are having peace and good life now. You just cant imagine if something like this ever happens again dayum.
Ahhhhh!!!! I'm so Effing ecstatic that you guys did dir en grey!!! I am actually surprised that y'all loved it as you did. They are such an acquired taste. But the bassist and drummer, Toshiya and shinya respectively, are my all time faves. So unique and powerful in their sound. As the band has progressed over their 20 years in music all with the same members they've evolved and improved their craft. Arche is my fave album from their. But if y'all want something fun, watch the video Saku, Kodou, and revelation of mankind. The videos are one expanded story using all the same actors for each video which I though was incredible. And all three songs are TOP NOTCH!!
Yes! It was a long time coming and we're so happy we did it! Such a great song and band. Man I can't imagine how much more dope it sounds now. Also yes some of our viewers told us about three songs going together. So awesome, we must check it out.
Great reaction. I really liked your insights and how you were able to catch on to the subtleties that Dir En Grey incorporate in their music. You really need to check them out live. They are even better live. I suggest this song (Vinushka), Diabolos, Amon (symphonic) and Macbre (Tabla Rasa). Also try to get something with a translation. Kyo is a master lyricist too. However, I think he sings so expressively that you don't really need to know the words; you feel it, as you guys did in this song. I think Kyo is one of the very top vocalists in Rock/Metal.
We realized after the video what the song was about....... apologies. We got so caught up in the music and ignored the visuals at certain points. This was a rough video to share with you all, but we loved the song. -Alan

When I saw the aerial view, I knew it was Hiroshima. Did you know that's where Su Metal from Babymetal is from?
The fact that you cried without even understanding the whole message shows (obviously) not how deeply you understood the song, but how deeply did you feel it. Dir en Grey is a soul wrecker train, not because of the heaviness and the growls (which are there in many many songs to the full extreme) but because of what they speak about. A language that needs no translation. It was beautiful to see you surrender to real human atrocities. That's the song in a nutshell.
Arete and amen. 👌
There is also the masterclass in stage performance (especially from Kyo) that draws you in. I've seen people go from completely uninterested, to enthralled just by seeing Kyo's theatrics.
I can only pray to one day put as much passion into a performance as these guys do.
Dir hands down has the market on singing aboust deep anger & sadness & those emotions other bands only ever touch on. :)
This is what music is about. You don't speak the language, you don't understand the lyrics, but you can feel the goddamn music.
Amazing band, saw them live in LA last December. One of the greatest shows I've ever been to. Was last band I got to see live before the world went to shit...imagine that.
Exactly! It's always amazing when bands can pull that off. Just let the music do the work. So lucky you saw them!
I was at that show too. It was one of the best shows they've done imo!
My friend and I saw them in the same tour but in Houston. My #1 favorite band and one of the only bands powerful enough to make me cry at times.
@@Anfernee_G Perhaps I ran into you there! I met a lot of people that night, I like to mingle.
@@WookieSenshi That's awesome. Never been to Houston, but I've always wanted to. Was a great show for me out here in LA. I had tickets to see Crystal Lake too, but Corona shut that show down indefinitely.
Diru is one of my favourites bands and this video proves that Vinushka is the perfect song to introduce anyone to this amazing band.
When is "Crítico Histérico" comming back?
Sorry, just never tought to see a comment from you here.
Same! They really are all very talented band memebers!! but i was dissapointed they didnt have subtlitles too it
their lives are more powerful and emotional.
Well said 👌
year, definitely those guys need to watch lives video
they need to watch Vinushka 2018 live, will cry more
u have to react to Dozing Green MV, it so fucking dope 🙌

Kyo is a great poet!
そして最近、この曲は世界で、ヨーロッパで起こっている出来事に直接関係しています...
It does, very heart felt and you can feel it. -Alan
Their stage performance is epic too. They have a long history and different tastes over the years but the vocal Kyo has always been amazing.
Oh man, makes me hype to see some of their live stuff.
@@dicodec watch Macabre live ver Tabula rasa
@@dicodec if you get a chance to see them live, it is always worth it. I've seen them twice but not in over a decade so i can't imagine how more amazing their shows are now
I've followed Diru for over two decades and this song is the only one that shows Kyo's full vocal range. It's truly an amazing song, especially live.
This is the best reaction I've ever seen to this song and video. The emotions in this are just so raw, and I'm glad you got to experience that.
❤🥲
I genuinely think that watching their live performance of this now that you know what it's truly about would be epic right about now. You can see people cry in the audience during this song. It's as powerful as it gets. And really Kyo's vocals live on that song are just beyond words.
Damn, Alan Would die....
Sorry if it's weird because I'm using translation.
I've seen various reaction videos.
You guys understand what they want to convey the most.
thank you
this has got to be one of the most honest reactions I have seen in a while. I have seen them live twice way back in like 2005? I think and haven't listened to them in quite a while. But damn it's about time to get back into their music. Kyo's voice is just legendary and always made me so emotional. Thank you for this
Looks like Alan had a freaking spiritual experience there.
a beautiful freaking spiritual experience...

Wow, that was a solid breakdown of the meaning. Really well done!
You are the first one in comment who have closest interpretation to what I think about this song.
I think this song is about the pain of what is thougt as”evil”. People tend to trample dem down without hesitating. this is an anti-heroic mind of
human beings .
@@里中桑園
Yeah, I can sense the strong message from Kyo.
I couldn't be that precise! That's exactly it!
Kyo is such a great vocalist, his voice is not from our world/dimension
Dir En Grey is beyond imagination
i like them since 2006-2007 'till forever
🙌
Ah yes now it's all coming together. All the visuals and emotions make sense. Such a masterful video and song truly.
Thought I couldn’t be more stressed about the USA election chaos- to be reminded of these horrors in such a powerful and necessary song. 😢
Oh man, sounds epic. We wil check it out. Can't wait to hear it.
@@dicodec Yes, please! Do Macabre! The newest version! It is a 16 minutes song!

imagine how proud these guys would be listening to the live version
I have never seen such a great , emotional , genuine reaction !
Alan is really very sensitive to emotions in the sound and the voice, just like he showed to Lovebites songs before .....
Eric's arms were shaking ....
You guys have genuine hearts. Bravo !!
Thank you so much! This really was such an emotional song to do. We definitely weren't ready but we are so happy that yall suggested it to us.
Amé sus reacciones, DIR EN GREY es una banda fenomenal, por favor sigan reaccionando a sus canciones, se van a llevar una grata sorpresa. Ellos trascienden la música. Un abrazo desde Colombia.
Muchas gracias! We love this band and will continue to react to them. Thank you again and hugs right back at you! 🤘❤
It just builds an builds, getting heavier and heavier as tensions get to the point where the bomb is released, the bomb falls to the ground and then-
Everything suddenly cranks up to 11. As the bomb goes off, so does the band. The music and Kyo's vocals at this time illustrate the complete destruction of Hiroshima as the explosion levels buildings, vaporizes people in an instant and smoke chokes the sky. It goes on and on until it then suddenly stops,
The dust had settled, the music becomes soft and somber, and the aftermath of the bombing is setting in.
Totally agree with you. Can't wait to hear more. They're so dope, it was a privilege.
THIS is the type of reaction I expect from people when I show them this band! 😂❤️
Much love to you two! 🙏
This song is an absolute master piece, i still cry re-watching it. They take you on an emotional journey.
Been my favorite band since I got on the internet at 11 (Who else remembers 2001....) Fun and exciting to see such a pure first reaction to them.
Ahh thank you so much!
I started listening to this band many years ago and I am still a huge fan to this day. :)
Great reaction! Glad to see more people appreciate them, because they deserve it.
Thank you! Yes this band definitely need more recognition! Showed it to a few people before releasing the reaction and they all loved it.
YOU DID DIR EN GREY OMG. Ok, now I have to subscribe.
🤘😀
I'm really happy for you're react them and for you liked it! You can feel this emotion in every music of they have. Vinushka is a perfectly example of this. Thanks for the react guys! I'm excited to see you react another musics of Dir En Grey. I very recommend the live version of all the musics you can find and the musics mentioned in other comments.
Thank you so much! We are also excited to hear more from them. After this song we might have a new favorite band to react to.

One of the best reactions to this band and this song I have seen. Can't wait to see more!
Thank you! Yes more Dir En Grey reactions on the way!
All I have to say is KUDOS!!! I I have not seen a more honest reaction to Dir en Grey ever! Awesome job guys!
I’ve been a fan for 15 years and this bad has evolved so much I don’t think there’s any other band I can compare to.
Thank you! This band definitely brought out the feels in us. Such a great band!
Thank you so much! We definitely want to hear more from them. So please throw at us any suggestion and we'll do it.
Great reaction! Seing such genuin reactions always makes me so happy. This is what music should be. Touching people across boarders and languages.
If you want to see more of them, the ballad Tousei is beautiful live.
Thank you! Just goes to show you that music has no boardes. We definitely want to check out more so thank you for the suggestions! 🤘
I am so glad you picked this song!

Vinushka [ANDROGYNOUS a view of the Acro]
Their live performance will exceed the music video.
We're glad yall reccomended it to us. Can't wait to see it live!
Thank you for reacting to this song. It is indeed phenomenal. I've lost the count of times I've listened to it, but I get chills every single time.
This... this is an awesome reaction.
Thank you! You nailed it perfectly with your words. Such a great song and powerful message!
I would love to see a live version of "VINUSHKA"!
That would be cool. Definitely would like to react to that as well.
@@dicodec I know you haven't done the live as reaction but did you have the opportunity to do it out of camera?

Dir En Grey are probably the first or second Japanese band I had ever heard of and they looked and sounded completely different from how they do now. Great song and great reaction guys.
Same, started listening to them back in 2005. They have come a long way.
Thank you! Oh, wow is it good different or just weird different?
@@dicodec Check out Obscure by them and you'll see what I meant haha
GREAT REACTION like always! The feeeels! Check out another great one from them. Dir En Grey - Macabre live tabula Rasa 2013
Thank you! Yes the feels hit hard on this one haha. Also can't wait to hear more.

Thank you so much and yes you are right. Not just the world leaders but everyone needs to see this and see the suffering that war causes.
Been my favorite band since high school great to see new people discovering and loving what they create
They are so dope! I can see why people really like them. Masterful band!
I still can't listen this song without drop tears...
We feel you ❤
Honestly, if you have the opportunity at some point, go see them live.
It definitely took us long enough haha. Our viewers haven't suggested a bad song yet so we trust you guys. We are game! We will do them all.
I've been looking forward to the day you guys would get the chance to look into some
Dir En Grey!
I think where Dir En Grey really shines is in the live setting, so I'd always recommend a
live performance over any studio recording and they always put everything they have into every performance, so it's always a great experience.
This is song is my favorite masterpiece of all time

Beautiful song - I’m so glad you guys found it as effecting and as powerful as I did the first time I saw this video & heard this band.
Fantastic reaction! I absolutely love this song so it was awesome seeing such an intense reaction from first time listeners.
Thank you! This song is too good not to have some sort of reaction to it. Along with the imagery just makes you feel the emotion that much more.
Damn dude, you just earned a subscriber. Good reactions, love the energy. I also love that you didn't turn a song down bc it was Japanese/gave it the attention it needs. Granted Japanese music overseas is becoming a lot more popular now than when I first started listening to it.
Absolutely loved this song!

Dir En Grey are amazing. Simple as
Perfectly said. 💯
This song definitely brings out some serious emotion. Thanks so much for watching brother! ✌❤
You gotta react to Different Sense - Dir En Grey. Kyo's vocals there is insane!
I can't post links at the moment but the song is called "The World of Mercy"
the concert was called "The World You Live in". I think I was confusing 😅
I just looked up the video, it was postet by TxM and the title says "DIR EN GREY - THE WORLD OF MERCY [ENG SUBS/LYRICS]".
Just remember their lives are usually way better filmed and recorded and they played in an empty hall with only a few seconds transmission relay to TH-cam.
Ah i got you. Sorry for the mix up. Should be easy to find then. TxM is in our discord server we will just ask him.
@@dicodec awesome 😊👍
When I saw the notification the only thing I thought was: "OH NO"
and yeah..i was right x')
I fuckin told u to not do this yet ahah
This band is something else forreal, this band just breaks you on the inside and this is probably my favorite song from them.
Yup, we definitely weren't ready for this song. You definitely hit the nail on the head with that description. It really is a dope song
I definitely understand what you're going through when I was watching the video, as my first experience with this song was similar. It was like busting a huge emotional and musical nut.
Really hope you guys will check them out some more
Of course, we will definitely be reacting to some more Dir En Grey!
@@dicodec Hell yeah, hope you enjoy them as much as I do!!
Absolutely one of the best metal bands in the fucking world. No argument.
We agree with you! 👌
Such a strong message and story from a great band!
my favourit song of the band been listening to them since 2009 u should try the live version of it
Nice! I can see why. This song is an absolute masterpiece. We will be more than happy to check out the live.
@@dicodec thank u for the emotion u shared ; there is also their song Macabre live version :) it last 16 minutes but a masterpiece as well
Dir en grey new album coming up :)
Hey guys, thanks for your great reaction video. 😁It was so much fun to watch it.
And vinushka is my absolute favorite song of dir en grey ever. It's a masterpiece and so emotional ❤️
Thank you for watching fam. Yes totally agree this song is an absolute masterpiece!
Gracias por reaccionar a Dir en grey en verdad es una banda increíble!
They have gained a new subscriber, they really described what I felt when listening to this beautiful song. I agree, it's phenomenal.
Muchas Gracias por ver nuestro video! We absolutely loved this band. They are so good!
If you like this, their lives are insane.
Thank you for sharing this emotional reaction 🖤
Thank you for watching! I know you've been watching from the beginning and it means a great deal to us. 🤘
I’ve been a huge fan of Dir en grey since 2001. I’m not saying that for cred, but rather as a setup for what I’m going to say next:
Back in those days, if you wanted to see them in concert you flew to Japan. If you wanted an album you had to pay ridiculous shipping charges or had to rely on Limewire. This was just the way things were. You’d see someone complain on an online forum and there would always be a handful of party-poopers saying, “Dir en grey will never play outside Japan. Americans won’t listen to music that isn’t in English.”
A lot.
❤️🇨🇱🥁🎸🎶emocional 100% pura pasion real expresada en musica unica..
国境を越えてもメッセージ、想いが伝わることがとても嬉しいです
Hey, thanks for vibing, I appeciate you recognizing the fuckep up shit.
Thank you so much! Yes more Dir En Grey reactions on the way fam. We are super excited to hear more for sure.
Men there's a lot of positivity in your reaction...tq for the reaction men. Btw..im always related Vinushka with what's going on in Attack of titan.
Great song, great reaction. Anytime I see or hear anything about the bombs, it just breaks me too.
Thank you! Yeah it was a tough image to see especially before the images that follow.
Oh wow, that is so dope! I'll add them to the list and we'll do a reaction. Can't wait to hear them!
@@dicodec I have never had anyone reply to me so fast before. You guys are amazing
Haha we gotchu fam. 🤘😎
Man even you guys got breakdown. Wait until you watch this song live in japan. The crowd there just weeping and crying for a war that happened for generations way before. The trauma and pain are still there even when they are having peace and good life now. You just cant imagine if something like this ever happens again dayum.
戦争の無意味さ 痛み それを表現した彼達… このビデオから伝わってくる悲しみ… 同じく涙が出た。。ありがとう。
Very heart wrenching
i'm japanese thankyou.
Thank you so much! We will definitely be reacting to Dir En Grey live fam so thanks for all the suggestions. Honestly can't wait to hear more.
