This guy is one of the most underrated vocalists of the last two decades. He does everything: soul, folk, blues, rock, screamo, punk, melodic, experimental. Who else really can compare?
So is Ace Enders, Anthony Green, Keith Buckley, the list goes on, it's all about who you resonate with. Apples and oranges. They all pour there hearts on the table for you to judge. And vibe.
For all those asking what is "not enough," he is saying that nothing he can do will ever be enough to make him whole and awake his soul, but only God can do that. He can never do enough, be enough to fill a void in his soul that only the Lord God can fill with grace and salvation. This song is a declaration that nothing can compare to God and nothing will ever be enough to compare to Him.
Smart woman... Praise God.... This is an essay God inspired me to write ( cause all inspiration & the deep desire to create comes from God ) so I encourage you to read it & share it with anyone you think it could help & yeah praise God James (4:17 "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.") it would be a sin if I did not try to help you its not a short essay but I guarantee you that its well worth reading madame or sir. Word: Our hearts are the things we need to pray that God guards them for us because we don't know best even when we think "I got this" that's when we should really stop & meditate on who is really controlling us. Our emotions get the better of us more than we'd like to admit. God created us in His image & we like Him have emotions & often times they rule us if we don't notice that that could become a dangerous life pattern (I've seen a lot in my short life & I've seen this pattern way to often. Its so self destructive! ) Look ladies, no man, no matter how descent that dude is can save you or complete you; as only Jesus Christ is able to do that! As a guy I'll be blunt & gentle at the same time: guys will use words in order to get you ladies to do things you'd otherwise never consider doing ( I don't gotta go into that one as your smart ladies so you know of what I speak .) Guys are no more perfect than you ladies so we all have imperfections that God works on if you're abiding in Him & listening to His guidance of the Holy Spirit. He alone is capable of perfecting us as we alone are not capable of sustaining ourselves or making ourselves righteous ( Benjamin Franklin tried to do that & failed as he was trying to be a Christian without Christ which will never work by the way .) Here's a test to give guys ladies & don't be to harsh on guys either as neither sex is perfect but now back to the test: if a guy says your beautiful then don't just accept that compliment blindly (unless he's someone you don't really know & its the first time he saw you) ask him "why do you think I'm beautiful?" Woman are very effected by words but real love is sacrifice thru action as anyone is able to say sweet sounding words but for those words to be true action is required.... Ladies I sincerely say this stop wasting your time painting up your faces & covering those imperfections as those are the very things that make you who you are! Own your unique God created beauty wear that with full confidence & trust me a woman who knows who God says she is is marvelously attractive the world outside of God simply doesn't know that kinda sexiness.... Smile more often, be kind , don't be selfish as true love is unselfishly given not expecting return its given freely from the heart you can't manufacture or buy that kinda love.... Call this God's inspiration cause that's what it is. Ladies & gentleman be careful who you give your hearts too & if you'd do that more often you'd get them broken less often... this is not a good word, its a God word... so Praise God thru Jesus... Every girl really wants a man with the characteristics of Jesus so you ladies search for those things within a man & some of you assign qualities to man that those man really don't have because you really wanna be with that guy because he's so handsome or because he is financially secure.... The truth cuts both ways.... Just because a guy has money doesn't mean he's gonna really cherish you as his queen. Monies not a bad thing but I personally know millionaires who are drunks & totally miserable... Money will never satisfy the needs of your souls only Jesus will.... My prayer for ladies: Oh Heavenly Father show them that only your Son Jesus does complete them & protect & bless them with healthy relationships with men that would really love & respect them intellectually & physically keep the relationships pure so that people aren't giving away literally pieces of their soul's each time they slip up please protect them from that emptiness & those feelings of shame & guilt that always accompany sin do this in & thru your Holy Spirit remolding their minds & hearts towards yours. In Jesus Holy name I pray fully trusting you with what on our own wills is impossible however you are God so nothing is impossible with & in & thru you.... Amen & praise God cause He does what we cannot.... Sincerely A Brother In Christ Jesus Joshua Caleb West
em3sis I believe in the evil of men.. None of us can confirm nor deny a true deity's existence HOWEVER we can easily prove that darkness exists in every one of us.. Of course due to our nature of variation, the perception of that darkness differs from person to person, which in turn creates "Good" as an opposite.
Join the crew be a soldier for our King. Nothing but love for you my man. And believe me our sins and small insignificant pleasures are not enough to fill the void within us. Christ completes us. Much love from Philadelphia
Zak Johns I'm agnostic but this really shakes me as well. This guy is something else and speaks directly to the humanity in all of us; religious or not.
Zak Johns Its not necessarily a religious song. It could be seen as a deeply existentialist piece of work. Dustin has everything, yet still struggles with the feeling of emptiness that so many people struggle with. I am agnostic, but succumb to the same absurdity's that everyone else faces. However i use love for others to fill that void. Life to me is about finding something that gives you passion and meaning. Helping others is mine. Some people find solace in religion, some in gratification of the flesh.
This is Ecclesiastes put to song. Just amazing. Anyone have trouble understanding/enjoying Ecclesiastes, listen to the words in this song. Dustin lays it out as simple as can be. I always loved that book, then Dustin released this song and it made me fall in love with it even more.
Ecclesiastes is one of my favorite books. Basically how everything on this earth will wither away and anything outside of God’s kingdom is meaningless. Having perspective too, to know what trials could be ahead and to put yourself in others shoes and not take things for granted. Praise the Lord!

Hmmm funnily enough I just heard of this book last week. It's huge, from what the (non religious & definitely non conservative) ppl who talked highly of it were saying, and the chances of me reading it are beyond thin, but I generally don't even need to read and hear songs to understand that nothing should be taken for granted and other basic/fundamental things like these. I guess religion etc exist for the ppl who don't like to deviate from the modern world perceptions of life. As a supposedly spoiled person tho, I've been exhausted and have learnt that *nothing comes easily* and that I won't take a breath as long as the world (of humans, but not only🙄 you don't want to talk about god with me, it's too easy to see there's not one or that he/it at least isn't perfect at all - even if that's just the human understanding, the inner voice in many of us doesn't necessarily come from an evil and stupid side, or bitter perspective) remains as corrupt/wretched, and the exploiters are partying and the good ppl crumble (often too soon) from the weight (consequences) of the choices of the selfish and shortsighted (...and cynical, judgemental, shallow, closeminded, fanatical, narcissistic, greedy, power mongering/paranoid fools of all kinds, etc). Hopefully I'll manage to read it at some point tho, if we're/I'm still alive in 5-10 years -_-"

I’m not particularly religious, in fact I have been extremely anti-religious (in an organised sense) at times in my life, especially when I was younger, but there’s something about this song that makes me believe in something bigger than myself and makes me want to give myself to it. It’s almost like all of a sudden faith makes sense to me for 4:41, crazy the power that music holds
I'll never understand how a masterpiece like this doesn't get the exposure that women and men degrading themselves get in the mainstream. This song is so epic. I'll never understand
You're right. Although I am a Christian, and very, very proud of it, I have never even heard of him until this video. I have been reading up on ALL of the drama and BS surrounding Driscoll--to include, Dustin's recent resignation from Mars Hill. By happenstance, I simply searched him and listened to this. I...am...blown...away. Wow! I just keep replaying this. He is just so gifted. What a moving song. What moving lyrics. What an absolutely and utterly moving voice. Wow. Just Wow.
Jason Murray oh man. You never listened to thrice? He's the lead singer. Thai band is amazing. Listened to their masterpiece album called Major/Major. It's amazing
I've followed Thrice for over a decade and have rode the winds of change. From the angry and unidentified youth of their first album "First Impressions" to the smooth and compassionate Minor/Major. Each member, to include Dustin, has grown. He picks the path of Christ and follows it with his heart. I embrace the fact that he believes in what I do not. His voice, songs, and heart remain. I still will wish him the best. His songs have saved my life.
Probably one of the greatest pieces of music I’ve heard… The emotion, while speaking to the realities of life as a Christian. This song will always be special
Men created religion, religion is not of God. Christianity is not a religion, it’s a relationship with God. He wants to have a deep, loving, intimate relationship with you, he loves you more than you can comprehend, he knows you more than you know yourself, he knew you before your bones were formed. Repent and trust in Christ and God will make you righteous through his blood, and you can be reconciled with him. God is calling you. God bless.
erm.... here comes the wet blanket....... I didn't watch this yet, but tell me, is it actually any good? because the picture of him screaming his face off kind of gives me harmful images. Is it one of those wrecking-their-lungs singers that you very oftenly post?
ok, I'll take your word for it. ;) One day I'll listen to it and form my own opinion based on my own observations.... then everything will be hunky dory. xD
This is a great song to listen to if you start to covet or just feel like sinning- something about this makes me listen to him. People always tell you that things dont fulfill you, but when he says it, it feels like hes talking from the other end of it. It seems like hes been through a ton and from experience it is just not enough.. So it really speaks to me. This always helps me to focus back on Jesus, who can make you whole
He originally thought this may be a Thrice song, but it never materialized. He also expressed that it was one of his favorite to write. Such a simple and profound video, certainly conducive to the spirit of the song. Powerful, in that it enhances Dustin's always-inspired lyrics and soulful delivery.
Nothing is truly ever enough under the sun. Only the love and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ is more than enough to fill our empty hearts and nourish our dry souls. Amen. Come Lord Jesus 🙌

John, god takes you so seriously and has no idea why you would say such a terrible thing, has absolutely zero sense of humor (even though he created humor) and has absolutely no idea you were just joking to bring smiles to the faces of fellow comrades. Prepare to be smited! Er... hes omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent, so he IS you and understands exactly why you said it, and already forgave you. He is loving and playful and forgiving. I dunno, one of these contradictory lines works. [Edit]: Of course the guy I successfully shamed has deleted his obnoxious religious post :/ [Edit2]: In case anyone else completely misjudges this post, replies to it and then deletes their comment--yes, this entire thing was sarcasm. My word...
The beauty of Dustins lyrics is that they're written purely as personal reflections, woes, and stories. He isn't trying to ostracize those who do not believe. If anything hes only provoking a better view of modern Christianity. Its a beautiful thing.
This song highlights the beauty of what it means to be a Christian. There is ultimate freedom in knowing that we do not have to earn God's love or acceptance. As broken, imperfect beings Christ died for us. We can rest in His grace, His mercy, and His love. Too often I have relied on my own strength, abilities, and knowledge to try and right the course of my life and all too often I have fallen short. It's not enough. I can rely on God's love and mercy to lift me up in my weakness and carry me through trials.
how is the passion..my goodness.. - the breaking in his voice...the lament, they desperation, and rawness...yet there is a joy behind this - that there is one that is for us, and His grace is enough. I think i held my breath for the whole song....
To me this song speaks to the fact that you can never praise the Lord enough. You must continue to give thanks and praise for all your days because that is what fills your soul and what the Lord expects of you.
The last minute of this song is what really drew me in. Such a powerful, passionate, and emotional singer. Let's all just leave religion at the door for a moment, and appreciate a talented human being.
Jeremy Michael He Loves The Lord Jesus Christ his Saviour and he's using his gift to Glorify and magnify His name...it's not religion he's singing about, it's the relationship he has with the Creator of the universe...thats not religion
Jeremy Michael his song is actually a christian song he saying whatever the world has to offer will not be enough, the only thing that is enough is Jesus Christ
How about we not "leave religion at the door" when this Song is focused within Christianity which contains the Truth of the Nature of Man and the Nature of God. Man is a depraved Sinner lost in darkness and Only God can redeem him and Save him from the Judgement to come
I've been a thrice fan for sooooo long and I don't believe in the same things but I connect SO MUCH to the music and I can connect to the lyrics as well. they are probably my favorite band of all time and will always be. Theres something that I draw from musically that is from the same place. I know that with a couple of bands and people in my life. I think that is the real home from which we come somehow. that music is coming from somewhere and we are just channeling. not that everyone has to have that ability to feel this, I know most don't. I just know we all feel that deep connection to the thrice's music regardless of our beliefs... if we feel it we feel it. I would like to meet other thrice fans like myself though. I really need to meet more people like myself. I'm all alone in every sense of the word.
"Though every soul would hold my name in honor And truest love was always by my side My praises sung by grateful sons and daughters My soul would never still be satisfied" You can appreciate a talented human being all you want. It's not enough.
"Exhausting every avenue of sin" gets me every time. I just see Jesus bleeding on that cross for me. When he yells "TO MAKE ME WHOLE" makes me tear up... Nothing in this world will satisfy. But sitting in the darkest hole, the deepest pit, the pain and agony of life if I've got Jesus as my Savior IT IS MORE THAN ENOUGH
"There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of all men." Heard Dustin Kensrue for the first time when I tuned into Mars Hill Global for their Good Friday 2014. It was this song I heard first, and it brought me to my knees. It's a song of pain and repentance, and Solomon himself couldn't have done better. Thank you Dustin for an incredible piece of poetry and music.
Dustin is one of the best songwriters. Usually the bands when they last evolve in different directions than fans, but this is one of the three I grew up listening and in every album the topics he wrote about I could totally relate to, even the music style and the evolution of Dustin’s voice (reminds me of Mumford and sons vocal). Thrice all the way
This is the definite go-to song whenever I feel overwhelmed and depressed. These emotions I experience usually stem from self-absorbance. In this day and age its hard not to get self-absorbed and carry everything internally. I tend to feel emotionally disturbed from an offense and walk away. When I bring my offense to a worldly perspective I lose joy. This song helps me to see from a different perspective, Jesus' perspective. All I can say after this is thank you, this song heals.
This may never get to you Dustin, but thank you. Your music and the message it carried--even before the worship stuff--was heavily influential for me finding Jesus and growing along the way. This song is the heartbeat of my story. Saw you guys in Nashville recently! Thanks for an amazing show
Same here. My secular friends never saw the spiritual influence in his lyrics during the Thrice days and it's nice to see how far he's come since then. Very inspirational. And this song is amazing. Best song on the worship album IMO.
As someone who does not subscribe or believe in any type of established religion, Christianity included, I find this song to be utterly haunting and beautiful... Loves.
I love this song. Thrice is great and so is Dustin's solo music. They each have their strong points. This song is beautiful and haunting. Ive always admired and respected Dustin's music and his writings.
Fame, fortune, love... You could have it all, and still not be happy. You could live all your deepest desires and dreams etc... And at the end of the day once it's all been done you are still left with the feeling of emptiness, a void inside etc. God is the only one who can fill that void, is the only one who can make you whole. That is what he is singing about.
Jacob Mead exactly, thats why the rich cant get rich enough and the famous cant get famous enough. Their searching for something that can only be found in Christ......they just dont know it.
One of the best lyricists of all time. And one of the best humans along with his band. Toured with them in 2002. They are great guys but recluse. They don't party or socialise. Probably for the best. There is treachery in the scene. They are pure and good people. We don't deserve them.

For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Sums it up Basically.
The first time I listened to this song... I just closed my eyes and tried to breathe as quietly as I could so I could hear every single word. Chills. This song is just amazing.
The climax of this song gives me chills every time, and the way the video is shot it's perfect. Right as he starts building up the flashes create the most menacing shadows on his face, almost flashing images what he could be but what he can't become. All this manifested in the final line: "Though all would bow to me 'til I could drink my fill of fear and love, it's not enough." Rarely does such a simple video do justice to a powerful song.
I just discovered this song today....O my, did I cry.....it is amazing! And yes--> No matter what we do to be worthy, or to try to earn our Salvation - is not enough... It will never be. Only Jesus gives us that .. HalleluYAH.... All the glory and honor belong to Him HalleluYAH. AMEIN Shalom💗💦💙💦🙏🔥🌿🌹🌿💛💦
Those that actually hit "dislike" must be dead inside....this song is so moving. Despite not being a religious person myself, Dustin has been a favorite lyricist and vocalist of mine for a very very long time. Just gets better and better. The best part about lyrics and music, open to interpretation, no matter who you are, or what you believe. Music. Unites.
My friend, Dustin is speaking to your conscience. His words pierce through your sin to your heart. At this point, you are rejecting the truth of God, but you can choose to repent from your sins and put your trust in Jesus. Keep listening to this song and let it bring you to your knees. May you soon see that Jesus is enough and may you leave your life of sin.
I've listened to pretty much everything Dustin has done music-wise, and this is probably his most powerful vocal performance I've seen so far. Such an incredible talent, he is such an incredibly versatile musician.
I started reading all of the reviews on Dustin's songs, it's crazy how so many of the people that listen to his songs are atheist. He is a very inspirational person.
How about we discuss how amazing this song is? I get chills from head to toe... Dustin, Your music calms my soul, and pushes me to never give up... Keep it up brother.
I'm not a christian, I've listened to thrice for about 11 years now, and I do believe that everyone should have some respect for the spiritual side of life. just being part of the universe, and self aware, and the low probability of our very existence should be enough for any atheist to recognize that we define ourselves through eachother, and that dustin sends that spiritual message home with the best of them.
Probably the best song i've heard in a while!! Keep watching and listening to this over and over at 1080p in full screen its just so good!! Loved Thrice and Dustin Kensrue is great solo too!
Dustin, From Vhiessu to digital bath, and the accidental discovery of your acoustic work...Thank you for getting me through Afghanistan. Please Come Home helped me find my way back home. Thank you.
Wow... I just stumbled upon this song that apparently came out years ago, but perfectly expresses what this pandemic has caused so many of us to realize. Yes, most of us Christians intellectually grasped this, but how many of us really truly felt this? How many of us fully understood this? How fleeting this world is? How unsteady all our comforts are?
Dustin's way with words can stand up against most any writer's. He's genius. He can convey every possible human emotion at will. God has given him an amazing gift.
This is Dustin Kensrue. A man who has been gifted with his voice, his talents, and his beliefs. If you are a true fan of Dustin Kensrue and actually pay attention to All of his music since they started you would take note that He was a devote Christian from the get go. Deadbolt and all. You one day decide to look up the individual from thrice who clearly spoke to you yet one could only notice you only received in riddles. Seeing this, you decide to hack at his name, his beliefs, his virtues and for what? to tear down another Christian? do not slander a man's name because he stands for something. Don't you see the irony in your statement? "so sad that one of the greatest, most intelligent and most inspiring musicians of our time is just another sheep believing in fairy tales" You viewed this man as one of the greatest, most intelligent and most inspiring musicians of our time... Your first non biased opinion stated exactly what type of man he is with an open heart... Now the end of the statement naming him another sheep following fairy tales because you took it upon your self deemed The judge to throw all your biased opinions to tear down a great man. This statement not to attack but to defend. Dustin Kensrue has done nothing wrong to you except bring joy to many many people.
***** How is he bible-thumping? He's saying that you can respect a man regardless of his beliefs and you're brushing that aside in exactly the way he is describing.
***** It's fine, I can understand different perspectives on the matter. I'm also a bit sad that Thrice isn't a band anymore, but at least Dustin still does what he enjoys. And I'll let him do that even if he becomes more absorbed in his point-of-view than he used to be. Luckily Thrice's songs don't vanish, though.
For some reason what is good and what the masses want never seems to coincide. Just feel blessed that you are one of the small group who can appreciate the talent of people like Dustin.
Audio gold. Simply reading Dustin's lyrics can affect my mood for a day. Seeing him perform live is life-changing. If you haven't seen Dustin perform, make it a priority.
King Solomon who tasted wisdom madness folly and everything this earth has to offer, but at the end of his life he conclude everything is vanity. And told we should remember our Creator in our Youth " the life under the sun we should remember HIM"
As an atheist, that's always been my favorite part of his lyricism. He takes his religious views and frames them through intelligent, clever lyrics that you can still enjoy without having to be a believer. And it's always nice to hear an intelligent take on things from the other side.
We should all be able to do things like this.....if only we could all stop wanting to force our beliefs and opinions on others and love each other no matter what.....mankind has always inherently wanted to control others and it hurts my heart as to the extent of damage we are creating on this earth to each other. I'll never understand what is so hard about living and loving and understanding we are all different and loving each other for that.
The passion and devotion in Dustin's voice is immense. I'm not theistic, but Dustin's portrayal allows me to appreciate the track's religious theme all the same.

This is an essay God inspired me to write ( cause all inspiration & the deep desire to create comes from God ) so I encourage you to read it & share it with anyone you think it could help & yeah praise God James (4:17 "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.")
it would be a sin if I did not try to help you its not a short essay but I guarantee you that its well worth reading madame or sir. Sincerely A Brother In Christ Jesus Joshua Caleb West
that would be cool if he actually existed
Button Mash Oh man hahaha come on
Button Mash Ironically, it takes just as much faith to believe God doesn't exist as it does to believe in Him.
em3sis I believe in the evil of men.. None of us can confirm nor deny a true deity's existence HOWEVER we can easily prove that darkness exists in every one of us.. Of course due to our nature of variation, the perception of that darkness differs from person to person, which in turn creates "Good" as an opposite.
As an atheist, this song still shakes me. I cant. Words.
As a believer in the Almighty God this song still shakes me.
Join the crew be a soldier for our King. Nothing but love for you my man. And believe me our sins and small insignificant pleasures are not enough to fill the void within us. Christ completes us. Much love from Philadelphia
kingdavid2012
We're whole to begin with, brother.
So many great things came out of Mars Hill Church. I pray everyone is still walking with Jesus.
Full of eyes brought me here. This touched my soul to the very core... I need Jesus. I'll always need Him.
@@joecoolberry911 John 4:13-14 also describes this very well Jesus basically tells us we can drink from the world but it will never be enough we will always thirst until we drink from him
Hmmm funnily enough I just heard of this book last week.
Hopefully I'll manage to read it at some point tho, if we're/I'm still alive in 5-10 years -_-"
@@hawkstrike18 I don’t use nor need religion. I have a relationship with Jesus, the grand design is clear, I have tasted and seen, his presence felt all around. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” we are able to question and learn why we have morality and create is because of the creator. Jesus loves you and wants you to be with Him, ask and you will find, He waits for you with open arms. John 3:36

What a masterpiece. The raw emotion is unlike any I’ve ever seen. He is truly crying out to God. Absolutely grateful for artists like Dustin who are willing to share their soul with the world.
Unfortunately, he doesn't believe any of it anymore.
@@michaelmannucci8585 If that is true, then that’s unfortunate! I’m thankful the seed has been planted in his life and I hope that his faith can be restored.

I'm a grown as man and this song makes me cry. Life is suffering and wanting more than we deserve. But it's still worth every single second!
One of the best songs ever written, he's one of the greatest artists of this generation.
I agree. lyrically it is in a category all its own.
The way he sings this song is full of emotion. Always been a Thrice fan. One of the best bands of my generation.
Still my favorite song. What great lengths Christ went for each of us 😢😢.
Every time I listen to Thrice/Dustin, I'm reminded why they're my favorites.
His voice is so dynamic and powerful.
Gabriel8415 If you want to really know Thrice, start from the beginning.
truce is a cool band
Its not about satan and sinning. Thats why
He starts to get emotional at the end. what a legit human. actually believes what hes sayin'
listen to this a lot when my grandfather died, now I know he's with Jesus
Probably one of the greatest pieces of music I’ve heard… The emotion, while speaking to the realities of life as a Christian. This song will always be special
I am not religious but seeing this song performed live was literally one of the best moments of my life. I wish I could relive it.
This song is in this animation. th-cam.com/video/pYADu483biM/w-d-xo.html
You religious these days?
Men created religion, religion is not of God. Christianity is not a religion, it’s a relationship with God. He wants to have a deep, loving, intimate relationship with you, he loves you more than you can comprehend, he knows you more than you know yourself, he knew you before your bones were formed. Repent and trust in Christ and God will make you righteous through his blood, and you can be reconciled with him. God is calling you. God bless.
This guy has legit talent.
Thank you Levi for posting this song!
Yes, he does.
erm.... here comes the wet blanket....... I didn't watch this yet, but tell me, is it actually any good? because the picture of him screaming his face off kind of gives me harmful images.
Is it one of those wrecking-their-lungs singers that you very oftenly post?
No it is nothing like that!
ok, I'll take your word for it. ;)
One day I'll listen to it and form my own opinion based on my own observations.... then everything will be hunky dory. xD
Saddest part of this song is when it ends. God bless you guys!
If U2 played this, it would be massive! Dustin is criminally underrated. The greatest singer/songwriter in generations. Lyrically astounding.
U2 is massive because they sold their souls. Bono is a WEF member and a globalist. Dustin isn't.
My sister told me Dustin's voice is pretty similar to Bono's and she was not wrong! :D
Bro, this comment is beautiful and will most likely help me in a lot of potential downfalls. Thank you.
IT'S NOT ENOUGH LYRICS
[Verse 1]
Though all the wealth of men was mine to squander
And towers of ivory rose beneath my feet
Were palaces of pleasure mine to wander
The sum of it would leave me incomplete
Though every soul would hold my name in honor
And truest love was always by my side
My praises sung by grateful sons and daughters
My soul would never still be satisfied
[Chorus 1]
It's not enough, it's not enough
I could walk the world forever
Till my shoes were filled with blood
It's not enough, it's not enough
[Verse 2]
Though I could live for all to lift them higher
Or spend the centuries seeking light within
Though I indulged my every dark desire
Exhausting every avenue of sin
[Chorus 2]
It's not enough, it's not enough
I could walk the world forever
Till my shoes were filled with blood
It's not enough, it's not enough
I could right all wrongs, or ravage
Everything beneath the sun
[Bridge]
It's not enough, it's not enough
To make me whole
It's not enough, it never was
Awake, my soul
It's not enough, it never was
[Chorus 2]
It's not enough, it's not enough
I could walk the world forever
Till my shoes were filled with blood
It's not enough, it's not enough
I could right all wrongs, or ravage
Everything beneath the sun
[Chorus 3]
It's not enough, it's not enough
Though all would bow to me
Till I could drink my fill of fear and love
It's not enough, it's not enough
I am 64, and my pastor let me in on Dustin and Thrice..I love both of them, and I think it says a lot that ALL kinds of folks listen to, and find something they can relate to in themselves. I am a church musician, but I would love to write songs that can resonate with everyone. Truth is truth, and we can all get something from it. Thanks, Dustin for being honest...
Jesus is the only one who can make us whole! Awesome song!
I can't help but smile and tear up everytime i hear this. Amazing. I am not even Christian....and I love listening to this man sing. The way he puts the words together....amazing.
I would sell my soul for Dustin's talent. Far too underated of an artist.
+John Valentine I think Thrice gets a fair amount of respect, Dustin does have a lot of talent tho.
+Rob “Ribetty” Rando True a fair amount of respect, but all the same underrated and more unknown than I would expect.
+Erwin Greene Baahahahahahahahaha
This made my night.
[Edit]: Of course the guy I successfully shamed has deleted his obnoxious religious post :/
[Edit2]: In case anyone else completely misjudges this post, replies to it and then deletes their comment--yes, this entire thing was sarcasm. My word...
+John Valentine THANK YOU!
John Valentine Dustin Is Not That Great Live... Still A Spot On Perfect Lyricist Though :)
Forget about the world and embrace the love of the Lord, for He is good. This world and everything in it will fade away, but God's love is eternal.
The beauty of Dustins lyrics is that they're written purely as personal reflections, woes, and stories. He isn't trying to ostracize those who do not believe. If anything hes only provoking a better view of modern Christianity. Its a beautiful thing.
You can't ignore his unique voice, & you can't ignore Jesus. That's why God gave Dustin that voice, to use it!
To glorify the Lord.Amen and blessings
His eyes... His eyes starting watering and I... It stirred something in me. Every time he sings he puts his entire soul into it. I freaking love it.
"Though every soul would hold my name in honor
And truest love was always by my side
My praises sung by grateful sons and daughters
My soul would never still be satisfied"
You can appreciate a talented human being all you want. It's not enough.

Heard Dustin Kensrue for the first time when I tuned into Mars Hill Global for their Good Friday 2014. It was this song I heard first, and it brought me to my knees. It's a song of pain and repentance, and Solomon himself couldn't have done better.
Thank you Dustin for an incredible piece of poetry and music.
I adore this song!! its so deep it shakes my core. God is good.
Did anyone else cry when they heard this song!?

Dustin is one of the best songwriters. Usually the bands when they last evolve in different directions than fans, but this is one of the three I grew up listening and in every album the topics he wrote about I could totally relate to, even the music style and the evolution of Dustin’s voice (reminds me of Mumford and sons vocal). Thrice all the way
I'm not much of a religious person but this song is absolutely wonderful.
This is amaaaaaaazing
You can sense the passion in him. If you don't, then I don't know what to say.
This guy... I don't have words to describe how much I love his music.
Jesus heals.
This may never get to you Dustin, but thank you. Your music and the message it carried--even before the worship stuff--was heavily influential for me finding Jesus and growing along the way. This song is the heartbeat of my story. Saw you guys in Nashville recently! Thanks for an amazing show

One of the best lyricists of all time. And one of the best humans along with his band. Toured with them in 2002. They are great guys but recluse. They don't party or socialise. Probably for the best. There is treachery in the scene. They are pure and good people. We don't deserve them.

Wow... I just stumbled upon this song that apparently came out years ago, but perfectly expresses what this pandemic has caused so many of us to realize. Yes, most of us Christians intellectually grasped this, but how many of us really truly felt this? How many of us fully understood this? How fleeting this world is? How unsteady all our comforts are?
best voice I have heard in ages... honest bosebumps.. what a beautiful set of lyrics
I love this because its how i really feel about the reality of sin and death and the deep need for God
So inspiring to me! I have been working on a worship album that is not like what has been going on in christian music and dustin has nailed it!
Dustin's way with words can stand up against most any writer's. He's genius. He can convey every possible human emotion at will. God has given him an amazing gift.
I'm just glad to see Dustin working on something, even if it's solo. Damn, that voice... that voice. :')
I'm not a Christian anymore, but this song's really great and hits me.
Well spoken, I am not religious and I find tons of inspiration in his music.
***** How is he bible-thumping? He's saying that you can respect a man regardless of his beliefs and you're brushing that aside in exactly the way he is describing.
***** Alright, that makes more sense.
***** Hey bro, Thrice are back.
For some reason what is good and what the masses want never seems to coincide. Just feel blessed that you are one of the small group who can appreciate the talent of people like Dustin.
Amazing voice, and lyrics. And this music video has to be one of my all time favorites. Simple yet so powerful
Kensrue's lyrics have had an impact in my life since 'First Impressions'. Simply beautiful....
I'm Brazilian, I love their songs so much, without a doubt he is one of the most extraordinary gospel singers of our generation.
And told we should remember our Creator in our Youth " the life under the sun we should remember HIM"
Agreed. This is the type of attitude people should have. We can resonate with people regardless of their beliefs.
Check out C.S Lewis’s work for a really intelligent take on Christianity but also readable. He was a an atheist before becoming a believer.

The passion and devotion in Dustin's voice is immense. I'm not theistic, but Dustin's portrayal allows me to appreciate the track's religious theme all the same.
I need to put on a jacket or sweatshirt every time I listen to this song because of all the chills I get.
Thankful that even though it's not enough, I serve a God who loves me anyway. Can't wait to buy this album next week.
