A little history on this quarry. For many years it was a working quarry, extracting clay for brick and tile productions. It was closed in the late 80's and was left for nature to take back for over a decade. In 1997 an application was made for it to be used as a landfill, the application was denied by the local borough council and the county council only to be given the green light by the then secretary of state John Prescott. The original permissions were for it to be used for inert waste only, although when those permissions ran out it was ok for it to be used for other none hazardous waste. In 2019 RED Industries took over the site from Lafarge. The Owner of RED is a man called Adam Share he is a former convict having been sent to prison for paying someone to tap the phone lines of the EA, local councillors and members of the public. Since 2019 the site has gone from bad to as bad as it could possibly get having recorded the highest amounts of H2S (hydrogen sulphide) ever recorded from any landfill ever. We have taken it to the High Court and we won but the EA appealed so we're now heading to the European Court of Human Rights.

They were blocking the entrance to a private road and stood on private entrance. The actual highway was clear. The only people who blocked the highway was the police.
They broke no law. It was a complete civil matter.

100% Correct unfortunately the thuggery of numbers games is why the criminals show up in force - whilst we outnumber then in our thousands to one now, hundreds of thousands to one I'd wager - long term their goose is cooked. In these situations it depends on the cause and the individuals and other extenuating factors such as the presents of children arrests would likely cause alarm and distress to the young ones. Whilst it is true that any and all POLICE need arresting on the spot for their role in crimes against humanity it's hard to practically apply this at present as we are still setting up the correct justice processes that they need to be dragged before - equal justice under the law even for the disgusting creature that is a policy officer.

The new rules of the highway code means the vehicles have to give way to pedestrians who are crossing at a junction, they should all stand up and slowly cross from one side to the other and back again, any driver trying to force their way through "should" be fined and given points on their licence by these fine upstanding officers who are there to uphold the law. DJ, great work highlighting the horrendous unacceptable conditions the community have to endure living near the quarry. The mental anguish on a daily basis these people have for, their health concerns and that of their families rightly justifies the peaceful protest. I do think, its a civil matter they were on private property. And the Police threatening arrest for blocking of the highway was wrong. I would encourage, them to seek legal advice, from a local law firm on the matter. DJ you were right to, tell that Police man you had to raise your voice to get the attention of the driver not to spray you or the other people with water or whatever liquid he was spraying you with.. Shame on the Police, of not also addressing the issue with the driver.. The Lady who said she had cans of air freshener sprayed in her face and being spat on is disgusting behaviour . If there is video evidence it should, be brought to the attention of the Police. When such an incident occurs it, should Immediately be brought to the attention of the Police, that an assault had occurred press charges against those involved.
The Police did, acknowledge the smell was extremely bad. However, when they said, they were natural it did not, seem that they were impartial. I wish the protesters, best of luck and hopefully in the near future their nightmare will end.

The young cocky Liaison officer has shown his true colours in this video. The bearded Liaison officer threatening DJ’s arrest for breach of the peace was bordering the ridiculous, but the very same officer couldn’t even be arsed to speak to the lorry driver for potentially causing criminal damage to peoples clothing (it can be caused either intentionally or recklessly in order to meet the criteria of the offence), and yet criminal damage is a far more serious crime than breach of the peace. DJ has really highlighted either the lies the police are telling people or their complete misunderstanding of the basics of the law they should be upholding.

The police were keen to threaten DJ with arrest for apparently aggressively making the driver aware he would take civil action, but they weren’t at all interested in speaking to the lorry driver to ask him to stay back to stop aggravating the situation (which appeared to be the driver’s intention).
