The tip about cleaning the rust off with lubed sandpaper is spot on, the tolerances are so tight the hub will not go on without getting rid of all rust deposits. Great vid, saved me a few hundred dollars.

Just a note to say thanks again. I followed your advice in the video and did the job. Genuine Ford replacement hub and lock nut ensured no fitting dramas. Hub came off the stub axle easily. I had the right tools, 36mm 3/4 drive cracking bar for the big nut and 15mm Metriwrench socket and 1/2 inch drive cracking bar for the caliper carrier bolts.. You taking the time to post this video saved me labour costs and probably gouging on replacement parts. Fantastic mate!!

Great vid mate. Just a tip for anyone having trouble with the break line clip, if it doesn't pull straight off like in the vid, turn the hose a bit and try again. The clip has a flat spot that needs to line up to get it out easily, or at least mine did. Also, Bunnings sell an individual 36mm socket if your set doesn't reach that far and you can't find one to borrow.

I like your video because it gives the right amount of info and would encourage someone not as skilled to tackle the job. Extracting the hub and the 'back part off the stub could be trouble and some would use pullers. Great that a little persuasion did the job. Thanks for posting.

Just ordered 2 new genuine Ford hub and bearing assemblies as well as new genuine Ford lock nuts. Was going to get aftermarket ones but thought I’m not paying for labour so might as well spend the extra on the genuine stuff and get years out of it. Will put them away so I have them on hand when the time comes to change them.

I've got to do the same for my BA Falcon Ute. I've seen the bearing/hubs on ebay, some come with the nut, I am guessing by your video that I won't need the nut as it can be re-used. Got to find a 36 mm socket. Just a double-check you tightened the nut with a torque wrench - what was the setting? I also like the fact that you didn't use a bearing puller. I didn't want to buy one, just for this job. Thanks for the great video. I've subscribed!

Torque settings are important for things like head bolts to make it even and wheel nuts. Most other times it's a setting for non mechanics who doesn't have a feel of how tight it should be. So 300 nm means basically f,ing tight as possible with a breaker bar. You are not going to strip a 36 mm nut. You could also use a centre punch on the nut just near the thread as a locking mechanism.

  • @djinn201

@ONE UP THE SLEEVE CUSTOMS AUTOMOTIVE did you use a torque wrench to tighten the hub nut. Say's in forums that 305Nm is hub nut torque setting but I can't find a torque wrench that goes that high. Do i need one, if so what brand do you have??

G'day ...This is great ..I have a big kays AU 2 ..over the past few weeks I noticed a definite metal'y sound and yesterday it got a fair bit louder pretty quick ..Got home okay but this morning I figured it might pay to check the original wheel bearings ..RH side one didn't seem too bad but then I jacked up the car on Left Hand side and spun the wheel ...definitely not good ..Our local parts place out here in the bush surprisingly had what looks to be exactly the same as your BA ones just by looking ..Charged me $70 each so I figured if one side has gone the other one won't be far off as they're the OEM ones ..Was told that AU , BA , BF and two wheel drive Territory's use the same wheel hub kit ...Just checking to see if you think that's the case ..Only one that doesn't is the all wheel drive Terry's...makes sense I guess ..Great vid ..Thanks ..
