I attended a couple of traditional Masses, during Covid. I have never in my life attended such a beautiful, saturated Mass filled with worship, piety, intent and ultimate Adoration to Father God. It's like, Novos Ordo was diluted, (although I say this with respect)! I came out of Mass on Fire for God and wanting more of Mass!!! It was incredible! I pray you find a traditional Mass soon....

I have long been a faithful Catholic, attending Mass every Sunday. A little more than a year ago, I moved to a new parish where Mass is celebrated Ad Orientem, many of the prayers (including the eucharistic prayer) are said in Latin, incense is part of the liturgy and we say the Leonine Prayers after Mass. This has affected me profoundly. My faith has never been stronger. I now attend Mass every day and pray the rosary every night. My exposure to the traditions of the church has been life-changing.

Is it an Ad Orientem Novus Ordo Mass or Tridentine (I'm not a Traditionalist Catholic but I'm just curious)

    • @crispy4102
      @crispy4102 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@isaiah3872 Novus Ordo, but very reverent. I have been to Tridentine Mass and love that too. At least for me, the important thing is that it is CATHOLIC. And what I've learned is that -- in my humble opinion -- the Masses I grew up with were lacking many of the essential elements of a Catholic Mass. Adding more reverence and tradition back into the Mass makes all the difference in the world, even in a Novus Ordo Mass. When you "relax" the tradition, you lose the conduit to God. At least, that is my experience. I cannot stress enough how attending a more traditional, more reverent Mass has changed my life. I wish everyone could experience what I have experienced.

Holy Tradition has renewed my entire faith, and has given my faith a depth that I never had before. I come from the Novus Ordo, since birth. But once I found Holy Tradition in the Tridentine Mass on 2019, I knew I could never go back. I pray for a continued resurgence of what we almost completely lost. Once lost, it may be impossible to get back. I just know it's always been said, the Catholic Church stands on the three pillars, Holy Tradition, Word of God and the Magisterium.

"The distraction of having the human face of the priest looking towards you during the consecration is removed." Very well put. And may I add that for me, as a priest, the distraction of facing the people at that most sacred moment of the consecration is removed - in other words, I am able to focus my heart, mind and body on the saying the words of Christ and offering Him - and myself in union with Him - to the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit. And, surprise, surprise, if I'm praying better it helps everyone else pray better. I once heard someone use this example: Are you offended if a bus driver is facing away from the passengers while he is driving? No. You want him to lead the vehicle safely to its destination. If he stood up while driving on the interstate, left the wheel and faced the passengers we all know what the outcome would be... total disaster. But the more important reasons for ad orientem are theological - facing East, facing Christ, the Sun of Justice, who rises from the dead and will come in glory; keeping our focus on the glory and adoration due to God.

To my surprise within a month the new format of Qurbana was approved by the pope which demanded to face altar during anaphora. But there is some unfortunate protest from some priests and misinformed laity but I pray they can't do much harm.

I just recently started to watch your videos pertaining to the Rosary and especially your videos promoting saying 4 Rosaries a day and I've become a fan of your channel and now since seeing this video I'm an even bigger fan now.
I'm going to go out on a small limb here and suggest that your dedication to the Rosary is helping you to see the truth and thankfully promote what I also believe to be the truth.
My first time to a Latin Mass was one week before they shut the Churches down in March of 2020 here in Cape Cod Massachusetts and I took to it like a fish to water from the very first Mass. I'm still learning about it and how to use the missal proficiently and it might take a while but I felt the difference from day 1 even when I had no idea what was going on.

There are some churches in the Philippines though when they celebrate the N.O., they face towards the congregation during the introductory until the homily. But during the offertory, consecration until the communion, they face towards the altar or ad orientem. Only during the final blessing they face towards the congregation. And its honestly perfectly balance.

🕯🙏 Such a reverent and respectfully delivered explanation. It catechises those who have no understanding or a false understanding what ad orientem means in the people's limited wisdom and in their churches, and in the thoughts of bishops priests deacons. I did ask specifically about implementing some of the chants and a sense of reverence especially during the seasons of Advent and Lent, but my Novus Ordo priest said two things that put an end to the discussion unfortunately. He said, as far as chanting goes thats entirely up to the music ministry. He has no say in it and doesn'tget involved. Of course, I suggested he could suggest or even direct their attention to the tradition and words of first p.benedict and the p.francis. But he also said that our new Bishop is very against anything resembling a latin rite, latin language, chants, ad oriented implemented correctly or incorrectly... he even seemed a bit afraid. It gave me pause.

I totally understand that the priest having an irreverent posture towards the sacrifice of the Mass drives people out. I am currently one of those people in the midst of leaving. It’s so much harder for me to attend Mass and watch as the priest is so irreverent, on top of the many hardships I already have that hold me back from going to Mass. Every time Sunday comes I am just not inspired to go to Mass anymore. That and my wife hardly is religious.

Our vocational director at my big ten university would offer AO once a month and the church would be standing room only. The youth wants this. Ad Orientum is total participation.

I recently heard a talk by what I believe to be a good and sincere priest regarding ad orientum and versus popolum. He claimed that during the early patriotic age of the Church, versus populum was the norm.
I had always heard and believed the opposite. Does anyone know where I can learn more about that, particularly primary documents? 🙏

If people were heading once in a while to a church, to one dedicated doing it genuinely, regularly, after a while, its growing assistance will make understanding the population need of this beautiful spirituality.
Give Peace a chance?! Give spirituality a necessary growing blessing chance/grace also.
There were a time community could be allowed to exist. Latin mass is gatherer of desire to go deeper in devine mystery. It is certainly a divine grace to keep it.
Also, we go to mass by habits and sometimes by routine... But getting deeper into the meanings of mass parts, the why it is then we do this, etc., with sections of the bible in correlations, we could all be "priests/witnesses by faith". There are good reasons why God allowed us living mass for so long. Why not giving/living us this teaching of Latin Mass?!
I used to sing in gregorian with men choir. People traveled far to hear us. There are richness in it. I pray God we don't loose this.
    God bless!

Ignore their questions they're loaded, just write about what the Church really needs to do. Please see our latest Clear Vision Catholics blog post and take a look at the Christendom Rising 3

i think we need to pay attention to the floodgate of graces that was opened when we came back to the ways it had always been, to ways the saints did. its not that the new rites are invalid, in honesty the old rites are simply done better.

Ad Orientem: The Priest is LEADING, it is about WORSHIP OF GOD, not the "circle of entertainment" (priest is "performing")
As a faithful laywoman, I want the priest to LEAD me to worship, not entertain me.

The Novus Ordo could have been ad orientem. So simple!! Even thouth both masses is the Eucharist, still Tradition keeps us more connected.

Why on this good earth do we have to even discuss this!! We DO what is the proper Adoration and Worship to the Father! The Mass is to Glorify Father God for giving us His Son Who took our sins away. We, then do what is right and just. We don't come to be entertained. We come to worship and if East is proper...then let's JUST face east!!! We want to please God. And so we must!

I've listened to Fr. Mike and others. I've sat in churches to see that even ad oriented doesn't allow facing East. God is not limited to the West wall. I can talk to people or I can talk to God. Facing a different direction is silly.

I noticed that in the video that the bell rings when the priest genuflects before he raises the hosts and that they also have the altar cards present.
The Ordinary Form also allows that? Or were the clips taken from the Extraordinary Form?

Is it difficult to understand that priest is not the centre of the Eucharist? Is it not wrong to think that God orientation is Oriental and ad populorum is Latin?

“By kindliness and loyalty atonement is made for sin; with the fear of the Lord goes avoidance of evil.”[Proverbs 16:6] “You see now that it is by doing something good, and not only by believing, that a man is justified. A body dies when it is separated from the spirit, and in the same way faith is dead if it is separated from good deeds. “[James 2:26] So the path to God begins by recognizing that evil exists, that we are compromised by sin, the evil we have chosen in the past, and there is, through the power of faith, that is incorporation into Christ through the sacraments (beginning with Baptism) that we can make atonement for sin (our own and that of the whole world).

St John of Damascus, 675 or 676 - 749 A.D., one of the Doctors of the Catholic Church, in his De fide orthodoxa (IV, 12), writes:
"When ascending into heaven, He rose towards the East, and that is how the Apostles adored him, and He will return just as they saw Him ascend into heaven, as the Lord has said: 'Just as the flash of lightning rises from above and then descends downward, so will be the arrival of the Lord.' Waiting for Him, we adore Him facing East. This is an unrecorded tradition passed down to us from the Apostles."
    (PG 94:1136) {Monsignor Klaus Gamber, The Reform of the Roman Liturgy: Its Problems and Background, Translated from the Original German by Klaus D. Grimm, Roman Catholic Books, Fort Collins, CO, pages 162-163, Preface to the French edition by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, later Pope Benedict XVI}

I must face east (in the casket in due time) I will put this in my will & inform everyone as well :-)
In that format, "Ad Orientum" to the east, whereby Jesus is like the sun, we face- would the liturgy be automatically in latin?
    God bless.
