    Very cool! I prefer the wire clip as well.

    Sweet 👍. It’s a nice shaped knife and edc size for me personally . It’s much better with the AWT scales , so much better

      I was looking into those scales. Might have to pick some up eventually.

    Love the review, sir. Just ordered one of these as my very first “decent” knife that isn’t a flimsy $29.99 blade. Researched options for a couple weeks before pulling the trigger on this. Great construction. Love the look of it. Visually, I think it’s among Spyderco’s sleekest offerings.

      That’s awesome!!!! Spyderco was one of my first knives I picked up that was a little bit more than a budget option also. I’ve been carrying it every day for work, and so far I’ve really enjoyed it. They are a little stiff, fresh out of the box, but mine seems to be breaking in pretty nicely.

      @@stevesgear I am way pumped for it. I run a small reefkeeping business (servicing saltwater coral reef tanks), and while I keep my knives out of saltwater for obvious reasons (got marine scissors for such in-tank work), you wouldn’t believe the amount of cutting involved with all the wires, plastic tubing, product boxes, DIY rigging, etc. I have needed a good knife for a darn long time. Thanks again for the review, definitely made me feel confident in that decision!

      I think you should get this one! They have a choice of blade steels too.

    I bought the salt version and really enjoyed it. I enjoyed it even more after I put AWT scales on it. The washers that came with the new scales made it extra smooth.

      I thought of picking some up. I hear good things about them, seems like you like them too.

    Awesome knife. Great pickup from your local store. Nobody does frn like spyderco.

    I just received my Native5 LW and love it so much that I ordered another variation of the Native5 LW. The ergonomic fit in my hand is excellent. I have the Delica, PM2 and Para3 LW all which have that big hump on the spine. I love that the Native5 LW doesn’t have that hump. Although I like Spyderco’s compression lock, I think the Native5’s back lock is more secure/safe.

      Glad you like it! I’ve been a big fan of it too. I’ve been using it at work since I made the video. I’m a big fan of the compression lock also. But this back lock broke in just a little bit, and now it’s pretty smooth to use. If you see this, let me know what blade steals you picked up for yours.

      Both in S30V steel, one in satin finish and the other in black finish.

    Very nice! I am not a huge spiderco fan but that is a nice looking blade. One that would consider

      I haven’t owned many spyderco’s. But the one I’ve had I like. This one so far is great, but it’s only been a day lol

    congrats on the new to you knife. If I remember correctly Buck had the best S30V edge retention with Benchmade just beating out Spyderco. I have a native5 in maxamet that is closing in on 3 years old and I haven't had to sharpen it yet.

      @stevesgear  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maxamet would be nice to have! I heard lots of good things about it. Seems like it’s been holding that edge good for you!

      Spyderco's S30V is on the softer side but still good enough & I agree that Buck has the best S30V I have a Buck 112 with it though a bit heavy for EDC.

    Looks like a great knife,don't own one. I carry a delica 4 and a dragonfly for years. The dragonfly in my front pocket and the delica in my back pocket. You can't go wrong with a Spyderco!

    • @stevesgear
      @stevesgear  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I loved the dragonfly! I wish I wouldn’t have lost it. Someday I need to get another. This one is a nice progression from the dragonfly.

    I wonder if anyone has ever worn out the FRN on the Native5 since it has no liners or washers to prevent metal to plastic contact. It looks like it will over time.

    • @notifysend1015
      @notifysend1015 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The FRN is very durable and rugged ideal for heavy duty. There is a reason their Native Salt doesn't have liners and washers. More parts and steel makes the knives more vulnerable and is only nice for jewelry to show off. People who complain about plastic handles are the same people who value fidget factor most and form over functionality. Walk the other way when knife reviewers judge the knives on toy fidget factor instead of utility.
