Anti theft tip: before walking away from your vehicle, remember to weld the doors shut, remove steering wheel, engine, and all 4 wheels and tires. Build a 30ft steel wall all around your vehicle and that should help a little with theft.
Too much work. I just change the plugs to castoffs that wont fire, and take the good ones into the office with me. Change them back and drive home. Simple.
2-way car alarms will let you know on your remote when your alarm is going off. If it has a starter interrupter it should give you some time to get out to your car. I highly recommend these over standard alarms. Steering wheel locks only take seconds to bypass with a hacksaw. Theyll just cut through the steering wheel itself. Just another small deterrent basically. A killswitch saved my car from being stolen once, so I installed a 2nd one, got a steering wheel lock and a car alarm. Overall, these are very helpful tips.
You got those modular kill switch kits, where you can set up a sequence with 2 or even 3 buttons. You install the first kill switch barely hidden so the thief thinks that's it, but won't be able to start unless the second (and third switch) is also pressed in the correct order. All about making them lose time and dissuade them from continuing
I wouldnt lock the door, i cant afford to replace a broken window Plus my car wont start unless you literally jiggle the key then the shifter then pat the dash.
Always argued my wife I'd rather replace the $2 scratch ticket then replaced the window my cars so junkie nobody wants it. Not even me i would rather the insurance money
Glad you mentioned the Clutch lock! No one seems to know about them. So effective since both the lock and pedals they lock onto are made of steel, so they can't be cut anywhere. They also works for automatic transmissions too - just locks onto the brake pedal. Same effect! I'm surprised you still recommend the Club (steering wheel lock) though. Thieves are known to be able to simply cut the steering wheel itself easily with any saw, making it easy to remove the lock.
To get the cheapest anti-theft device: park somewhere illegally and the police will provide a free boot. They don't want your vehicle stolen either. They'll even write you a note to come down to the precinct to thank them later.

Mr. Midnight having a manual means you can hide it inside the housing for the shifter, you can hide it under your seat, in glove box, basically anywhere in your car if you have the cable length. I recommend looking at chris fix's vid
The 1st steering wheel lock can be bypassed relatively easy. Best to use the boot. Also when using the boot you open yourself to the carjacker or robber. So never turn a blind I when removing your boot. Be aware of your surroundings. Kill switches are also pretty affective. For long term parking I would use two in conjunction with another. It may slow you down and be an inconvenience, but thieves want the quickest/easiest target.

A great way to protect your car would be a simple electro-shock contraption installed in the driver seat, NFC activated. Once the car is opened, you get about 30 seconds to pull out your NFC tag and scan it, otherwhise a needle pops out of the seat piercing your pants and a 2000 volt electric shock is applied, killing the theft instantly. There you go. I fixed the problem of car theft. I'll take a Nobel.
You'd need a second needle to complete the circuit, and it would have to be in the back somewhere to put the shock through the heart. Perhaps applying the shock from the wheels would be better, that way you guarantee death unless you scan your tag before putting both your hands on the steering wheel.

It was my first ever independent major purchase from my paycheck and it had a set of really cool new spark plugs on it too. Love the tips but grew up in one of the car theft capitals in the US & the steering wheel lock (the club brand type) was one of the easiest tools to break. Theives would break them within seconds & I would see broken ones on the sidewalk all the time.
@Kai H. I've had family that had their cars stolen repeatedly in the past and unfortunately the only thing that kept their cars from being stolen were hidden kill switches or taking the fuel pump fuse out.
Another tip...avoid peacocking. Doing the "look at me, look at me, see what i got" on social media will make you a target. Cost: $free.99 Effect: 10/10
Yes it will be stolen without adveritising too, But you’re lowering chances of it by not posting stuff and giving details to a perp who’ll use it just fine
I know it's a joke but the downside is you can push start a manual car so it makes it easier to steal apposed to auto transmission where the mechanics are locked in. And manual cars tend to be the nice ones 😭 (evo, r34 25gt, rx7 etx)
I think most car thieves would spend the 2 minutes to learn how to drive sick shift so that probably wouldn't deter many of them. Especially since they don't care about the clutch or transmission and only need to drive it once
When you started on wheel locks, I could only think of the episode where homer Simpson drove off with a wheel lock attached, ruining the car but getting away
Grimmrok I actually own 3 and the head gasket has never really been an issue. As long as you don’t floor and launch them everywhere, they are reliable cars. Get ready for the maintenance costs though (especially if you want a gd sti or wrx). Not only do you have to make sure everything has new fluids and is functioning properly at all times (not that you shouldn’t be doing that on other cars), but if you opt for an older car you have to deal with electrical connectors breaking when you take them off and also stiff rubber vacuum hoses etc.
I wonder something, doesn't battery killswitches damage modern car's ECU? We had hard time using jump cables on my old peugeot because someone's car was too modern and jump starting could kill their ECU.
My brother and I as young teenagers used to steal cars to just joyride or whatever. Sometimes keys were just under the tyres. We always brought them back tho just facing the wrong way lol
One of the techs in a shop I managed had his fuel pump wired to the headlight relay. In order to actually get the car to start, the lights had to be turned on. It would otherwise just turn and never fire.
Or you could make it the hazard lights, brake lights, right turn signal, and passenger side interior spot light, and maybe pulse the driver interior light three times, then one time, then four times, like some of the goofy ass algorithms for programming key fobs and the like. :-)
Manual transmissions work well to also prevent friends from borrowing your car lmao. You can act all nice and say "sure you can use my car" and then you tell them its a standard and they say "nevermind i'll go ask someone else"
I came out of work one day, looking for my car, thinking I must've parked it somewhere else, then I see a load of glass on the the road, I remember that day so clearly like it was yesterday
Hah, truth, unfortunately my alternative is a bicycle, and I'm afraid to lock it up outside for a long period of time where the only truly effective anti theft measure is to lock up near other bikes and have the best lock(s) of the bunch so the thieves steal someone else's bike, not yours.
I’ve had a motorcycle stolen and it was really strange because all I remember actually feeling was confusion and then anger, I was never actually sick or panicked, just confused for 20 minutes looking to see where I figured my brother had moved it to and then anger when he told me he hadn’t touched it 😂
On my old no top bronco with a manual transmission. I took the wire from the switch on the clutch pedal. It's there so you can't start the car with out putting in the clutch. Ran the wire under my carpet to just in front of the driver's seat. Then bought a cheap horn button , wired the button to the clutch wire under the carpet. With the button also under the carpet , the only way to start the bronco was to step on the spot were the button was under the carpet. Cost me maybe ten bucks and only a few minutes to install. Just don't forget to be out of gear when you step and start or you will have a bucking bronco lol. Super cheap and even if they hot wire or mess with the steering column and key cylinder, still won't start unless that little hidden button gets stepped on while turning the key. I put mine on my left , so I used my right foot on the brake and just stepped back with my left foot to press the switch.
someone pointed me to this video to share how I prevent car theft. I move the driver seat(cushion and seatback) as far forward as possible. For my car, that means only a chimpanzee can squeeze in there and drive. I then pull the power seat relay out. In my Mercedes, it's located in side the trunk, forward of the spare tire. I either take the small relay with me or hide in somewhere in the car. A car thief will not spend the time to figure out how to fix the non-movable power seat, so he/she won't be able to drive away. I got this idea when my power seat relay failed and I could move my seat. After I bought a new $8 relay from the Mercedes dealer, I realized that it was also an easy way to prevent car theft. Of course, if thieve just tows my car, then this obviously will not work. My friend improved my method by simply adding a hidden on/off switch on the wire feeding power to the power seat motor. He moves the seat forward and then turn off the switch. It has the same effect of making it impossible to drive the car.(again, unless the thief is the size of a chimpanzee) He uses a foglight switch for this purpose.
If you don't have a clutch pedal put the lock around the brake pedal instead. After a night on the town with a friend (this was many moons ago) we got back to his car only to find that he'd I'd locked the keys inside, well guess who should be doing the rounds but a very nice car thief who kindly opened the door for us, a true story.

There’s also a kill switch that has a key in it, making it impossible to start the vehicle because it cuts off the battery from going to the engine. As a bonus, it will also prevent draining your battery.

A remote kill switch might be useful for preventing the car starts. However, once running, whenever you unplug the battery the car still keeps running on the alternator
Had my AE86 boosted in Chicago years ago. It had no steering wheel or spark plug wires. They used a flatbed tow truck which was parked days later down the block. I called the cops and they did nothing despite the flatbed having no tags or vin numbers. Next time I’ll put a tracker in my baby, follow them and do some John Wick shit to them!
Anyone else from Connecticut? You wouldn’t believe it but car jacking is on the rise in Connecticut, ESPECIALLY Hondas! I got a 2015 Honda Civic, really nothing special, mostly an aesthetic build but I’m not taking any chances! Thanks for this videos!
If a thief wants something bad enough, they'll take it. The best way to prevent theft is to give the thief as many steps as possible to get what they want. This makes the theft unfavorable and the longer it takes, the more likely they are to either give up or get caught!
You guys should do a video on preventing a U-Haul's from getting stolen. It's been happening alot lately here in Seattle with everyone moving here. When that happens people lose literally everything
That's actually what most kill switches do. They lock out power to the fuel pump. He mentioned ignition but that's actually the worst way to do it because it's more easily bypassed because the bypass has to be done under the dash. A fuel pump bypass can actually be done inside the hood space with a hidden switch being the only thing you can get to inside the cabin of the car and in a place only you know where it is. No fuel pump means the engine won't do anything but the ignition turns. The thief is more likely to believe something is wrong with the car and go for something else than for the ignition not even working. Ignition switches go out far less often in a newer car a thief would actually want to steal than a fuel pump or starter. This will always make it more suspicious than a fuel pump bypass.
Why didn't you guys cover Faraday Bag for RFID keys? Most new cars use them and a SARA (Signal Amplification Relay Attack) is how thefts steal cars with key-less entry. The Faraday Bag is an amazing way to stop that form of car theft.
Is there an update to this? Just recently been a victim of the infamous Hyundai thefts. I understand likely not but it would be cool to see a refresher video.
Just pull the fuel pump relay out when you leave your car. Some thieves carry fuses in case you pull one out, but the chances of them carrying a relay is almost non-existent.
After my 69 chevelle nomad was attempted stolen at work, I installed a GRANT brand steering wheel removal kit. With the twist of a key, the steering wheel goes with you.

My favorite part about owning a car with a manual transmission is that thieves who don't know how to drive stick can't even start the car XD
I know it's a joke but the downside is you can push start a manual car so it makes it easier to steal apposed to auto transmission where the mechanics are locked in. And manual cars tend to be the nice ones 😭 (evo, r34 25gt, rx7 etx)
@- Yes, and I live in the US, so most people here wouldn't be able to steal my car.
@@drakedbz this doesn't work in England as everyone drives manual
I think most car thieves would spend the 2 minutes to learn how to drive sick shift so that probably wouldn't deter many of them. Especially since they don't care about the clutch or transmission and only need to drive it once
@- yeah I'm so sure every single other person in every other country knows how to drive stick. Even the children.
I'm gonna give you a tour of some the quirky and effective deterrents, and then I'm going to give them a DonutScore!
Most underrated comment on TH-cam. This comment wins.
I think a fuel pump kill switch would be the best also wheel locks that prevents the lug nuts from being removed cause they can use a different wheel.
When you started on wheel locks, I could only think of the episode where homer Simpson drove off with a wheel lock attached, ruining the car but getting away
Ah yes, right after he bought the crab juice because Mountain Dew is gross.
Subaru uses different anti theft system, it's called Head Gasket 😂
thesniperofcs or another tactic called the “knock knock joke knock knock knock knock knock damn it stop knocking you piece of..”
Lol Good one
Hahaa!
I'd actually like to get a subaru but the head gasket issue is rather deterring. Sad.

@@MrJdseniorYep all great ideas. It makes sense, but unfortunately I don't understand how to wire them up that way.

Manual transmission is best anti theft device in America
And there is the kill switch
Manual transmissions work well to also prevent friends from borrowing your car lmao. You can act all nice and say "sure you can use my car" and then you tell them its a standard and they say "nevermind i'll go ask someone else"

Hah, truth, unfortunately my alternative is a bicycle, and I'm afraid to lock it up outside for a long period of time where the only truly effective anti theft measure is to lock up near other bikes and have the best lock(s) of the bunch so the thieves steal someone else's bike, not yours.

You could just take the engine with you when you leave the car, that might stop the thief
in some older cars it's actually quite easy to take the ECU out. that can be a solution.
mnchil some of them bring engines with them
Remote C. I just laughed audibly here in the break room at work
Jimmy Jazz Where the hell do you live? The thiefs must be wealthy to afford tow truck
Lmao "DOUG" Score
However, being a motorbike guy as well, getting a bike stolen is sooo much more common 😭😭

someone pointed me to this video to share how I prevent car theft.
I removed all the wheels on my car...
The thieft brought four tires with him and stole it
That flamethrower would probably get you shot in a traffic stop😂
I don't need a flamethrower to get shot at traffic stop thank you very much
Steering wheel locks? *Maybe* a 1 for effectiveness.
It'll stop a four year old from taking it for a joyride....that's about it though.
They can cut a piece from steering wheel and take it out...
Get the fancy one
If you don't have a clutch pedal put the lock around the brake pedal instead. After a night on the town with a friend (this was many moons ago) we got back to his
car only to find that he'd I'd locked the keys inside, well guess who should be doing the rounds but a very nice car thief who kindly opened the door for us, a true story.
Theft proof car is... Static stance car!
Why? Here's the reason:
- Looks less appealing (wheels looks broken)
- 24/7 unique alarm (scraping noises)
- Tracking device (left by the oil pan)

There’s also a kill switch that has a key in it, making it impossible to start the vehicle because it cuts off the battery from going to the engine. As a bonus, it will also prevent draining your battery.

This makes the theft unfavorable and the longer it takes, the more likely they are to either give up or get caught!
great thing about old cars, simplicity. You can very easily set the stater motor to only function when the indicator/turn signal lever is up or down.
Really? How do you do that?
Now I'm curious 👀
Seriously, no one noticed that Nolan is giving everything a DOUG Score????

You guys should do a video on preventing a U-Haul's from getting stolen. It's been happening alot lately here in Seattle with everyone moving here. When that happens people lose literally everything
I thought they were moving out😮
For people thinking of getting a clamp make sure to also grab some locking wheel nuts as the y can just take the clamped wheel off
Ok, im bringing my starter motor with me. 😏
Lol. Actually i just pull out my fuel pump fuse. Its free 👍
They towed mine away. 😕
Same here! The club was useless
I'm a simple man, I see donut video I click!
Just pull the fuel pump relay out when you leave your car. Some thieves carry fuses in case you pull one out, but the chances of them carrying a relay is almost non-existent.
