I used AMTECH NC-559-V2-TF flux to take off that chip and I thought it went pretty well until I realised so many pads were no longer attached to the board. Maybe I didn't heat it long enough... Sorin always makes it look so easy.
You can use a grinding pen to scrape off a bit of the chip capsule to expose more of the broken pins, to get soldered even better, great job indeed, nice steady hands, neuro-surgeon :))
yes, in my repair blog I show in great detail how to do that kind of repair and some much worse where the chip must be ground away to reveal metal to attach micro wires because the pin is completely gone.
"If you see someone doing something easy, its high chance that its not easy at all, but you are watching professional doing it and making it look easy". Only persons who tried micro soldering using a microscope in real life know how hard it is to be this precise.

This is for a data recovery rather than getting a working laptop for daily use? If so why not pull the NvME drive out and insert it into an external USB NvME adapter then and pull the data off that way? If its a bitlocker volume then supply the 48 character bitlocker recovery key
new subscriber here all the way from San antonio TX! just wondering Sorin which Flux is it that you recommend for most of your repairs or what kind is used in this video that you joked about in the beginning of video... keep up the great work and these awesome videos for all of us to enjoy
That’s a doggie looking repair. But I try it with laptops that I found in the trash only for getting the skills it’s hard to get it ☑️ done. I have a microscope that must be to close on the parts to see it. And that makes it harder. The first 10 are broken but I did it twice they still working. You did it in e few minutes it’s a left handed skill 😂thank you Sorin.
Some HP G5 models are NOT cheap here. The manufacturer's IC, "ene" in this case, original KB9022QD? neither is it. The component part number on that PCB is too "fuzzy", which speaks to the quality of the white ink that manufacturer uses and when I do a little research to know the history of that company, Ene Technology Inc., I find very little info. That's the impression I have left. Ali/ss? Well, yeah...ugh. On the other hand, excellent job re-soldering that piece using your product (grade X flux). I hope they find a distributor in the USA so that they can send it internally, that is, from an American city to my post office box (mailbox, annual rent). All the best.
Hey sorin . You mentioned your rosin again. Some people diy it from pine cone sap. And did u know that pine cone sap is used in witchcraft. There will be a witchcraft scene in my movie about evil tech that kills people with tech. Are you still considering acting in my movie? Waiting on others to get involved.
Constructive criticism: I have done this kind of repair many times. This is typical amateur not thinking for an extra 5 minutes. The solution to get good at doing this is always practice on a junk board until you have the required skill-set to do it properly. Don't 'practice' on an expensive laptop or an actual repair job that belongs to someone else.....
@@GregMthis is exactly why people should not use bitlocker. especially amateurs. I seriously doubt there is anything on the ssd that is so top secret that encryption is required. It's yet another classic noob mistake LOL!
13:07 If the user wanted to save only the data, why didn't he simply remove the disc and make a backup of the data. Wasting time to repair the motherboard. If another laptop service doesn't know how to save data or clone disks, they should definitely close the company.
I always wait until it takes practically no force to move a chip I'm removing. It's also important to make sure the board is warmed so that the solder doesn't instantly harden the moment you stop heating and you have a little time to get the chip off.
only amateurs use it. it makes zero difference now. solder mask is for use when producing and soldering boards in production factory when using solder bath. After that point solder mask does nothing and adding or not adding has no effect on operation of the device.... as proven in the video.....
it is incredible how easy you make even the hardest jobs look.

Dear Sorin. I have idea. Why not do a live video repair? Even if it takes 1 day, we can sit here and watch with you.
Only slight issue with that is. Customer info accidentally getting leaked. But otherwise good ifea
I support
Normal people can't afford to lose a day's pay
@@techknewzhe can pause live or switch to other output, still possible
I watched all your videos , i think its one of the hardest repair so far... you are the king !
you obviously haven't seen my arcade repair blog with repairs much harder than this.... ;-)
Yup I would stop and trash the board, but Sorin can fix anything! That repair takes a lot of soldering skill and patience. Nice work!
you really have a proper calibrated hand! I can't believe! 😊👍👍👍
this video is the best best best ever comercial for SORIN'S ROSIN!!!
Excellent fix again, the X Rosin diluted the beer!
"There is nothing to learn by judging." That is a brilliant observation, and one I could probably learn from.
amateurs judging amateurs sure nothing to learn, but professional judging amateur, plenty to learn.

Big fan of Mr.Sorin ❤

Yup. Most of those chips are anyway plastic or some ceramic. Chip die is usually much smaller than package.
yes, in my repair blog I show in great detail how to do that kind of repair and some much worse where the chip must be ground away to reveal metal to attach micro wires because the pin is completely gone.
All this repair just to get his dat back... He could have easily ordered an nvme or m.2 reader
Hi sorin, it's always a pleasure to watch your videos from Morocco, good job
Great Sorin, another damage fixed u are the best...
If I had to go into space, I’d certainly want Sorin there on the electrics. Even if all he had was a stick of hot glue 😀
Nice, Nice. What we have here is a proper calibrated comment. Perfect. You see. Perfect.
Soon you will see Sorin opening up a CPU and replace one of the billion transistor inside and get it working :) Nice fix Sorin as always!

Agreed! Patience and a steady hand along with experience make it look a lot easier than it really is.
Dr. Sorin does it again.
if it is not Sorin I wouldn't believe this thing can really work again!!!
Its crazy what kind of damage you can fix!
wait..wait..wait..
i know these words before 😂😂

Go back to the start and listen to what's on the instructions received with the laptop. Data on the drive is encrypted using the TPM on the board.
Excellent😃😃 work. You make it look easy!
I cant believe how easy looks like when Sorin do it. This is Pro. I think Sorin is the last hope to repair.....
Good to see that you're not arrogant like Northridgefix. He would judge for sure.
Sorin the surgeon!!
Amazing Work By Amazing Person... 🙌🙌
Nice job!
It is worth flattening the wire with a small hammer. (Hammer calibrated conductor line :) ).
I've been doing that for many years. But the wire must be much thinner, like 0.08mm.
THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR
excellent work!
You only forgot to mention , need more exactly Sorins rosin.

I love watching these hard repairs to learn. Yea let's not Judge, okay maybe a little :D
Nice Fix .! But to recover the Data all he had to do is just remove the drive and read it externally.
Yeah exactly. SSD can be removed and accessed using an external caddy. Wow some people just don't think LOL!

Wouldn't it have been easier to solder the legs when the chip was out? Great fix though
As always great communicator and excellent teacher, cheer's keep your good work.cheers
if you put a coin over IC chip, i think that it would be enogh pressure to solder without a "possible tremor" of bare hand.
Those pins definately look drunk!!
a good flux , a good hot air and little patience

Why didn't you use a mini grinder to grind ic to have more metal

it's not a repair for recover data ....I see clearly a M2 SSD on motherboard , that's the one from recover data
The customer had BitLocker encryption enabled and only the motherboard/TPM chip that enabled the encryption can decrypt it.
@@crashbandicoot4everr If you have the bitlocker recovery key you can use that to decrypt the blocker drive

Client clearly stated at 0:15 that repair is needed thanks to the drive being encrypted with TPM module.
