Purchased my 2019 M550i with 50K miles in November. Did a pre-purchase inspection at a BMW dealership prior to signing the dotted line. I also purchased an extended warranty knowing fixing it will cost a LOT!!! Absolutely LOVE my M550i! Shopped online for 11 months to find the best price & did my research for 11 months as well. @@indigoscat3922 I traded my 2017 Nissan Maxima for this beauty. Bought the Maxima brand new in December, 2016. I was very reluctant to let “her” go since she was very good to me. However, I wanted a 5 Series, much less an M550i. Previously owned a 95 525i back in the mid-nineties: my very first Bimmer. That’s when my love for the 5 Series started 😊
just purchased a 2019 540 with 60k km. Extended warranty from the dealer was almost 10k CAD for 4 years so i didnt buy it and decided to take my chances. So it is worth keeping in mind that the warranties arent cheap either and you always have to weigh the odds of it paying off. I'm sure the warranty would have been even more for a 550 with similar Kms and year
@@AaaBbb-bh6ff yeah, the extended warranty was pretty hefty as well. My coverage was for 2 years or 24K miles. I couldn’t do 3 years. So I opted for 2 years to have some type of coverage.
I have had mine for a little over 3 years now. Bought it used so I bought a warranty on it. Should say that the warranty has overpaid itself and the car still runs great. For almost 2 years now, I have had no issue with it. Just regular oil change and scheduled servicing. I love my 2018 M550i x drive MSport…❤
Glad to hear that your have been good to you. Would of loved to keep mine if it wasnt for the problems I had with it. But I gotta say Im very happy with my current daily
Thanks for sharing. I owned my M550i for almost a year. Your earlier video really convinced me to go for it. But my buddy also started to have some issue, engine valve, transfer case leaking, etc. Anyway, i still enjoy it. The v8 Machine!
it sounds like my guy didn't have any kind of warranty coverage which would greatly increase out if pocket costs... I think learning curve is if you plan on buying the M550i make sure you have warranty coverage.
I’m a little sad about this video because I was really thinking about buying a 2018 M550i after watching your previous videos. Could you please elaborate on the repairs? I used to be a technician so maybe there are some things I might be able to fix myself. Thanks in advance!!
The v6 models are wayyyy better than I had a 16 535 fully loaded with a tune. Went from 40k miles to 140k miles with only changing the radiator and aux radiator.
He obviously means the i6 engine BMW puts in the 540i and he's right, the B58 is the most reliable engine ever produced by BMW, you can do a quick search about it and you''ll understand why guys push 900-1000hp+ on their 140i/340i/540i's. It's the ultimate tuners engine and when driven stock or with a simple stage 1/2 tune it will last you a very long while.
Super happy I got a great warranty. My buddy works at a used dealership and sold me the 5k package for 2,700$ 🤝 I pray I don’t have to use it. But it is nice to know that I have that.
Haha right there with you! Sold my m550i after a couple months . Needed a new cv axle and it was $1400 for parts alone! Plus the tranny was bucking at low speeds right off the bat. Nope
Thats another thing I forgot to mention on my video. My cv axles were starting to make noises, I really thought they were reliable cars based on what people said on videos I watched but I think now that those cars are aging we are starting to see that they are not really reliable.
When I got the car I was not aware of the difference in the 2020+ model. I was car shopping for my wife and came accross the m550 and fell in love with the car. Literally walked out the dealership with the car in a matter of an hour lol. I should of research on these cars but I didnt think much of it initially. I guess it was karma since wife was the one car shopping and I was the one that went home with a car🤣
You keep saying "the dealership" and not the BMW dealership... Sounds like you buy cars from places that don't offer warranties. So don't blame the car for the previous owners not taking care of it and blame yourself for not having a warranty... IJS...
In your opinion, if you did not tune your M550i, do you think it will last longer? I have the same model with the same year with 36k miles and it brings no issues so far, and i wonder if i should get rid of it asap.
I think an stage 1 tune or even stage 2 would not affect the car life much, it all depend how hard you drive it. I seen stock cars that have been abused and they dont end up lasting because of it and maintenance as well. If yours still running strong I would say keep it, they drive amazing and have plenty of power from factory. The negative is that values on those cars are dropping a lot, but besides that if yours still running good I would say keep it at least until 50k.
I never owned an Audi to be honest. Have a friend that loves them and had Audis most of his life and they been reliable to him for the most part. Good luck with yours
Hellcat was the best car I have ever owned. In 2 years no problems at all, I tuned it beggining of this year and drove it hard most of the time since it was just the weekend car. I been considering trying to find a 2023 with manual transmission, its an amazing car honestly.
It was not the common fading of the light, was electrical. Electricity was not getting to the led, I tried to fix just like other ppl have and it didnt work. Later discovered there was not electricity getting to it, same with the wireles charger. All fuses were good maybe a cable broke or something. Trust me I tried and was not going to be neither easy or simple.
The 540 have a different engine. Based on what I heard is more reliable. But the AC issue which is expensive could hapoen on a 540 as well, same with the LED lights. But who knows maybe it is better than the m550
I never owned an Audi to be honest. But I havent hear too many issues with them, you probably did the right thing going Audi. My BMW was nothing but problems honestly.
I had a 2004 545i with a V8 for almost 10 years and there were no issues with the engine. Drove it from 120k kms to 170k kms. I had to replace the alternator once, which was the most expensive repair in the time i owned it.
Had no issues with my car, runs really strong and original battery😂 owned it over 2 years
