Allama Iqbal's mother Imam Bibi, who died on 9 November 1914. Iqbal expressed his feeling of pathos in this poetic form after her death.
Zarra Zarra Dehr Ka Zindaani-e-Taqdeer Hai
Parda-e-Majboor-o-Bechargi Tadbeer Hai
Every atom of creation is a prisoner of fate;
Contrivance is the veil of constraint and helplessness.
Asaman Majboor Hai, Shamas-o-Qamar Majboor Hain
Anjum-e-Seemab Pa Raftar Par Majboor Hai
The sky is compelled; the sun and the moon are compelled;
The fleet‐footed stars are compelled in their course.
Hai Shikast Anjam Ghunche Ka Saboo Gulzar Mein
Sabza-o-Gul Bhi Hain Majboor-e-Namoo Gulzar Mein
The cup of the bud in the garden is destined to be smashed;
Verdure and flowers are also compelled to grow in the garden.

Hai Issi Zanjeer-e-Alamgeer Mein Har She Aseer
Be it the song of the nightingale or the silent voice of the innermost spirit,
Everything is a captive of this world encompassing chain.
Ankh Par Hota Hai Jab Ye Sirr-e-Majboori Ayan
Khush Ho Jata Hai Dil Mein Ashak Ka Seel-e-Rawan
When this secret of constraint is clear to the eye,
The flowing stream of tears grows dry in the heart.
Qalb-e-Insani Mein Raqs-e-Aysh-o-Gham Rehta Nahin
Naghma Reh Jata Hai, Lutf-e-Zair-o-Bam Rehta Nahin
The dance of pleasure and grief no longer remains in the human heart;
The song remains, but the joy of high and low does not.
Ilm-o-Hikmat Rahzan-e-Saman-e-Ashak-o-Aah Hai
Yani Ek Almas Ka Tukra Dil Agah Hai
Knowledge and wisdom are the highway-robbers of the goods of tears and sighs;
The aware heart is a fragment of a diamond.

I like when Allama Iqbal used the word "watan" to refer to his ancestral city of Sialkot in this poem because his mother was still living in Sialkot when she died. This means that no matter where ever you live later in your life, the ancestral city is always your true "watan", the watan where you were born and brought up.

سیرت اقوام را صورتگر است
ماں کی شفقت نبوّت کی شفقت کی مانند ہے؛ کیونکہ وہ بھی اقوام کے کردار کی تعمیر کرتی ہے۔

نیک اگر بینی امومت رحمت است
زانکہ او را با نبوت نسبت است
اگر تو غور سے دیکھے تو امومت رحمت ہے؛ کیونکہ وہ نبوّت سے نسبت رکھتی ہے۔
If thou lookest well, Motherhood is a mercy, being linked by close affinity to prophethood;
گفت آن مقصود حرف "کن فکان"
زیر پای امہات آمد جنان
وہ ذات (صلعم) جو حرف کن فکان کا مقصود ہیں؛ انہوں نے فرمایا کہ جنت ماں کے پاؤں کے نیچے ہے۔
