    do you need a CDL with this truck/trailer combo?

    • @JustinBiddix
      @JustinBiddix  ปีที่แล้ว

      No. If you are over 26000 pounds all together then yes you do

      It might depend on the state. I know in NC, if the combined truck and trailer GVWR is over 26,000lbs, you do need a cdl unless you run farm tags.

    I just bought this trailer and now I'm told they are prone to blowouts from turns. Mainly on front axel

      I have not had any issues with mine. I don’t use it everyday but I use it a few times a month and when I use it it’s generally loaded to capacity.

    Nice. How long is this trailer - how many deck feet and how much dovetail?

    • @JustinBiddix
      @JustinBiddix  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      20 feet of flat bed and 4 dovetail

    How much does that triple axle weigh, and I assume it’s a 18 k

    • @JustinBiddix
      @JustinBiddix  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I told all the weight specs at 20 seconds in the video. It weighs about 5300 pounds

    I gotta say im surprised how flimsy those tie downs are thats crazy. I bought an equipment trailer off kaufman rated for 15k lbs delux model and its built way better. I have a totally sealed plug the entire way and all the tie downs are welded to a heavy c channel beam so its solid. At the end of the day there are better trailers out there but its hard to justify spending almost double for a trail king or some other good brand when its really going to get the load there anyway. Honestly ill say this the lights and paint arent the best but the frames they make seem to be really beefy and dexter axle comany is a reputable brand and many others use them. Ill be buying a 25 ton tag trailer off them next! If its a trailer thats maxed out 24/7 non stop work might want to spend a little more and go with trail king itll hold up better but if youre using it a few times a week or whatever itll last forever. I been using mine daily lately to move excavators and heavy steel plates maxed out. Holding up great so far havnt had a single problem in over 2.5 years. I grease it every few months and keep it clean hopefully last me for years and years to come! Thanks for the video man 😊

      Hey thanks for this comment. Super informative. I like to hear what other people think who actually have experience with the equipment/products. I agree with what you are saying. I still use this trailer at least a handful of times a month. It gets the job done for me! Definitely nicer trailers out there but I’m still grateful for this one.

      @@JustinBiddix absolutely! I did a lot of research and when it comes to the frame kaufman really has the same specs as any major brand. Same beam size, spacing, and pound per foot steel. I got my 15k trailer from them for 6500 out the door. Other brands like trail king or XL were way over 10 even 15k and up. How can I justify spending 2-3x the amount when the frame is identical you know? Yes I'm sure trail king maybe has slightly better welds and who knows maybe their steel is slightly better but maybe not. Either way I can buy 3 kaufmans for 1 of theirs. 1 major brand will not outlast 3 of them and I normally use mine maybe 2 or 3 times a week on average sometimes daily but I can vouche for kaufman honestly they make excellent trailers for the price. Not the highest quality but to spend a fraction of the cost I probably will only buy kaufman from here on not to mention they have no dealers which Other companies can't stand. Buy from them direct! Thanks for the video

    I'm always amazed that anyone buys a trailer with a 4 or 5 foot dovetail , when a 2 foot dove is all any trailer needs ! A set of aluminum ramps rated for 16k with a 2 foot dove is all anyone needs ! The Xtra 2 foot of dovetail is a complete waste and adds extra weight and cost to a trailer !

    • @JustinBiddix
      @JustinBiddix  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A deck over is pretty tall to not have a dovetail. I can see not needing one for a regular fender trailer. But a deck over is pretty tall.

    • @johnzadinya2181
      @johnzadinya2181 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What are you talking about? If you're loading steel tracked excavators or a roller you need a longer dove tail. Have you actually ever moved equipment before?

    • @joedoakes8307
      @joedoakes8307 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most 8 ton or less diggers or small loaders don't use steel tracks ! Larger , steel tracked machines may require a 4 foot dovetail with aluminum ramps maynot accomodate them ! Just depends !

    • @johnzadinya2181
      @johnzadinya2181 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@joedoakes8307 yeah but why worry about 2 more feet? That's not much weight and it's worth it. Small machines can still have steel tracks but even rubber on a muddy rainy day going slightly up hill gets really slippery.
