    The album just shimmers…not a stray note on it. Just when I think popular music has grown stale, I discover a band like this. As an old 70s prog rocker, I now know there is hope yet. Ear candy and just a flat out good band

      As one of the kids born in 99, who always felt like they missed out on probably the most interesting musical period, I feel vindicated when I can find contemporary progressive gems like this.
      Feels like 2020's Woodstock at max volume in my living room. Grandiose.

    this is a disasterclass dowgrade from old midlake. Spirituality and imagination are lost. I believe midlake guys other than tim smith dont like the courage of others much but new midlake also distanced himself from van occupanther era.

    • @garetholeary110
      @garetholeary110 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I can start by saying I don't agree with the first part at all. Bands are the people in them, and if they change, maybe we should look for what has changed rather than what is lost - look for a reflection on who they are. I think it's becomes clear from listening that these guys are thoughtful and warm. To link that with the second part of what you say, I had the benefit of watching them in Manchester a few weeks ago and the honour they paid to Van Occupather was substantial - really beautiful actually.

      @@garetholeary110These songs although the remaining members are kind ( I agree) people just unemotional and stale and facile to me. The Pulido as a vocal without the electronic background of Antiphon seems the weakest part with tons of sighs and pauses. Also Without Paul Alexander they lost their creative engineering I believe.I think they delibaretely distanced themselves from the Courage of Others( Pulido or Mckenzie said that they did not even like to the part of it) So in the end much more is left than whats remaining.

    I'm sorry to tell this but in my opinion "Midlake" ended with the departure of Tim Smith. It's another band, another music compared to the first records, and sometimes it's self-plagiarism. The depth and the spiritual maturity have gone (even if there are some good moments in this album). So purhaps it's time to move on and to form another band, to get free from The Midlake's past.

      Tim smith’s voice was a standout and created an environment that hasn’t been duplicated. This seems an improvement from their last album I must say.
