If you make beats on the computer, I'd encourage some sort of outboard sound module, especially a JV/XV or Proteus 2000 type module, something 16-part multitimbral because it takes the weight off your computer and allows you to sequence via midi without your machine getting bogged down in the process. Once you got everything sequenced, track it in and mix it down, but with the aforementioned modules, half the work is done because the sounds already sound good going in. The JV-1080 and JV-2080 pretty much ruled 90s R&B. Nearly every R&B hit record had JV sounds all over it esp the Harp patch on Brandy and Monica The Boy is Mine to Sisqo You are Everything Remix fr Ja Rule to Toni Braxton and many more. I own the Roland Integra-7 which is basically a modern XV5080 module that has all the JV-1080 and JV-2080 sounds.
I can vouch for Vintage Synth and Keyboards of the 60's&70's, mainly if you're familiar with those keyboards/synths and really want those sounds. Other than that, they're kinda pricey right now.
Bass & drums and Hip Hop are rather cheap, great for variety of bass sounds and some drum loops to chop up, but as with most stuff geared toward hip hop, the sounds are somewhat corny and dated. Think mo'phatt, MP-7, early 90's sound.
Pop and Sessions I, II, III offer the most variety with Bread and Butter sounds. They also pull a lot of sounds from all the other cards, so these are good bang for buck ROMs if you have a module and want to start expanding your pallette.
Yet another great video!!! Did not realize it was called SUPER JV. I had one and gave it up as I did not know how to use rack modules in the early 2000s. Lol now the JV880!!!!! Omg it is nice. I figured how to make my ASR and it kiss to make love. I kept it lol. Now my Roland S550 rack loves to be rubbed as well... Let's get a video on that too S550... Man.....Angela is the 👿!!!! Hahahhahahahahahhah
The 90s Music Resurrection is going to happen soon. All these devices are going to become rare as anything, that only a few years ago you could get for next to nothing. Like how people were giving away the analog gear in the 80s and 90s to get the best Digital stuff, and you could find a Jupiter 8 for like 200 bucks because they were out of style. And suddenly around 2010 all that analog gear became popular again and the digital fell out of style. So too will the same happen to the out of style sounds of the 90s digital gear. They'll become incredibly popular, all it will take is one or two artists to drop a legendary album that puts all that stuff back on the map and the whole game will flip around. And the best way to create that sound that only a few years ago would make you cringe, would be the physical hardware. VSTs are cool, but they are just not the same as the real thing. Also I'm not paying subs to Roland Cloud. 1 year of that and I might as well buy the real thing. nothing beats physical gear you can just plug in and play and perform with.
F&^^ a 1080. If you got one, you will want to replace that bs with a 2080. Since a 2080 holds 8 expansion cards out of over 20. Plus it has a larger display. This video shouldve focused on that s&*&&. I used to stack 3 2080s.

If at all possible, could you explore making a video for the Yamaha SY-85 please?
Ima definitely put that on the list.
Ha!! I still got mines in my set up!
Nice!
Funny I got one being delivered today
Nice!
I've got a JV-2080 and that thing is CRAZY useful. I seem to reach out to sample it for 2/3 of my stuff.
Nice!
Oh ok nice!
Diddy (Puff Daddy) used it for his first album.
Oh ok cool!
hilarious i have this open in fl studio right now from the roland cloud
Nice!
I've got a XV3080 and it's just insane, one could easily score whole movies with just it.
Nice.
The XV5080 is IMHO the best Roland module ever made. Did you have any expansion boards?
Let's talk rom cards, what are some of the better ones and what should you not waste money on?
That was good fun!
Lol.
You gear is having alot of fun Lol!..Im gonna put the S550 on the list.
@@DyReckProductions my man!!!!
Negative equity, old school hip hop, vests over white tshirts, ah the 90s!

Lol.

Lmao!
I still got all of mine
Nice!
xv series dyreck sheesh
Lol!
Many people say the XV series sounds no where near as good as the JV1080. Supposedly, even the JV2080 and others don't sound as good.
Don't the expansion cards for these blow up?
Oh wow.
Not usually, I have never had problems with expansion boards.
Recap them, videos on that...
XV5080 and SY99
Got to put them on the list.
Been watching Steven A. Smith much??? 😉
Lmao!
02:20 😂
Lmao!
Yeah your right there's a big commotion going on right now about how great vintage gear sounds..I think its making a come back.
And another one ☝🏽
Thanks bro!
The JD-990 is far more coveted than the JV1080. The JV1080 can be picked up for peanuts today....not so much the JD-990 or JD800.
Oh ok.
700 presets and dudes still writing new sounds for it..... at £250 used price i might get me one
Same here.
Hall Monitor lmao 🤣🤣
Lmao!!
Aye
What up.
😂😂😂 Hall Monitors
Lmao!
VST doesnt. JV-1080 does.
Lol I feel you.
Who did you kill …🤣
Lmao!
F&^^ a 1080. If you got one, you will want to replace that bs with a 2080. Since a 2080 holds 8 expansion cards out of over 20. Plus it has a larger display. This video shouldve focused on that s&*&&. I used to stack 3 2080s.
Lol.
Come on, you are to good for that kind of sexism shit!
they do be like that tho
What sexism would that be?
