The Azure motor needs to be programmed with the 115 ac cord. It’s has 1075 speed for clockwise and counterclockwise and 850 for the same. They spin 90 seconds for each speed and rotation you simply unplug it when you see the correct selection. They’re actually good and reliable motors and less expensive in some models.

Milwaukee has a 12 volt Dremel copy, rotory tool that I keep in my van for trimming bolts. You can buy 1-2" reinforced disks for it. Extremely handy, I routinely trim 1/4" bolts with it. Not as strong as a grinder but really handy.

  • @markswanson3479

That 115 plug is used to set the rotation and rpm of the motor before you install it.

    • @TheGgin

Speaking of programming it, Maybe it was the audio, but that Azure seemed like it was running at 1075 instead of 850, I thought those 16 SEERs had slower RPM outdoor motors, just observation that's all, not any criticism.

HVAC warranties are a pathetic joke. Manufacturers’ warranties don’t cover labor, and contractors typically only warranty their labor for a year. Labor can easily be 5x to 10x the cost of the part. For something simple like a fan motor, you’re better off buying the part and replacing it yourself. It can be the difference between paying $100 and $500+.
I wish they sold equipment without warranties at a discount. I’d rather not even pay for something so utterly useless. If manufacturers supplied warranty parts to end users without a hassle, that would be different.

  • @gregspot
    @gregspot หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Okay, I'll give you the one argument against shutting a system off. When I lived in an apartment, the condenser fan would fail only after running many hours and then it would upset the compressor and eventually the breaker would trip (a federal pacific breaker no less). When maintenance would come and turn it on, it would run perfectly. The failure seemed to always occur after business hours. So I was looking stupid. On the final fan failure, I called it in as an emergency in the evening and the maintenance man on duty was a decent guy and came right away. At that point he saw the obvious failure. The condenser fan was replaced next day.

Nidec aka USMotors makes ECM replacements as well. The problem with those OEM ECM motors are the internal "module" that has a cheap $2 electronic part that fails. The Gentec Evergreen motors are the replacements for the original Gentec EMC motors that are know to fail often all the time. Those Gentec motors are $800+ and worthless when they first came out. Best to use a substitute like USMotors who don't play around.

Friends of mine had a triple stage Rheem put in. I told them to go basic citing the increased likelihood of problems and much higher repair costs, but they put it in anyway. I have to say it's a beautiful system to live with, and even at 115 degrees it rarely hits third stage and runs the blower on full speed unless you turn down the temp. It just quietly maintains temperature all day long. It also manages to keep indoor humidity 30-40% without a humidifier, which is no small feat in AZ where they are.
The day will come when it breaks though, and I can already hear the sob story about how can it break it's not old, and oh my god how is the fix that expensive!? I warned 'em...

How does it work with warranty work. Maybe Steve or someone in the business can help me here. From a techs position. So Steve charges his customers parts and labor. Let’s say he buys a part for $100. Well if he sells it for that same $100 he won’t be in business long. That’s understood. So say he sells it for $175 or $200 plus his time equals the job cost. Now he walks in the door and sees the unit is still under warranty. So he makes a call to the supply house and they give him a part for free. He just lost the mark up on the part, which is needed to stay in business. Right? Is there a labor markup at that point? I assume the warranty covers the part only. Thanks if someone wants to help me understand.

@@robertcherry4971 So, it's varying over time. Curious, what is controlling its speed. Does it have sensors? Thanks!

Could this ECM motor be replaced with a regular motor, and adding another capacitor?

Its not common sense to people that are not mechanically inclined
My tire is flat if I keep driving maybe it will get round again lol
    They just don't realize things
    Its not their mechanical ability
    And
    For that reason
It is job security right ✅ LOL

I think thats a load of crap what they told you about not putting a PSC motor in there. Rhat ECM motor wasn't a variable speed.
Psc motor, hook your cap up and 220 to contactor .they just want to sell those pieces of crap ECM motors.

If they don't cover that motor under warranty, may be time to talk tp a lawyer. Really Sucks Mama! I would avoid this company like the plague!

Steve, you need an impact driver too much f__king around it saves you a lot of time with all those little screws and nuts, put an inverter in your truck so you can charge batteries 😊

Steve why didn’t you just put a regular motor in there. Match up the horse power and RPM. Back in business.
