The more I learn about the factions of the Astra Militarun/Wall of Guns, the harder it gets to decide which faction I wanna get for kill team/army. Do i go Krieg for the raw fervor and shovel kills. Do I go catachan for the Predator/80s badass action vibes. So on and so on.
This is what I really miss about the 4th edition codex, doctrines let you create any sort of Guard regiment you wanted from my amalgamated orphaned survivors veteran regiment to super high tech carapace guards with camoline coated armour (yes you could do that although it would be ungodly expensive per squad) the insane variation was great fun (plus you got to see looks of amazement on other players faced when you went fully unconventional, like me an a mate dropping 100 Carapace armoured Guardsmen and stormtroopers straight on top of an enemy)

As a Cadian and Catachan Guard player you did my Jungle Warriors proud. Perfect timing too since today I was working on painting my Catachan troops up. They are going to be Jurassic Park themed, their tanks are going to look awesome once I figure out the best primer for my project. I love the Catachan, truly superhuman by time and survival and natural selection. Truly legendary. My most favorites are 1. The Catachan, 2. The Mordian Iron Guard, 3. The Vostroyans, 4. The Death Corp of Krieg, and, despite retcons, despite soooo many changes and an ignominious doom for their race and their world, my favorite guard regiment of Abhumans is still....THE SQUATS! (can hardly wait till Friday, Good Chronicler:)

The more I learn about the factions of the Astra Militarun/Wall of Guns, the harder it gets to decide which faction I wanna get for kill team/army. Do i go Krieg for the raw fervor and shovel kills. Do I go catachan for the Predator/80s badass action vibes. So on and so on.

This is what I really miss about the 4th edition codex, doctrines let you create any sort of Guard regiment you wanted from my amalgamated orphaned survivors veteran regiment to super high tech carapace guards with camoline coated armour (yes you could do that although it would be ungodly expensive per squad) the insane variation was great fun (plus you got to see looks of amazement on other players faced when you went fully unconventional, like me an a mate dropping 100 Carapace armoured Guardsmen and stormtroopers straight on top of an enemy)
Dkok are mega expensive to run. Maybe start with catachans or cadians
Shovel kills sounds good.
Many of us who play IG have our main army, and have made platoons of the more iconic regiments for giggles, or use as "attachments".
Holy moly, what a well crafted story, I absolutely loved the end of poor sonanbulouse's story! Really, the story was so well made, thought-out, congratulations!

Love an army of men that can hold off a whole chaos space marine invasion just because one stubborn Catachan found a Hellhammer.
As a Cadian and Catachan Guard player you did my Jungle Warriors proud. Perfect timing too since today I was working on painting my Catachan troops up. They are going to be Jurassic Park themed, their tanks are going to look awesome once I figure out the best primer for my project. This was an amazing story and I am super pumped for what's coming this Friday!

I love the Catachan, truly superhuman by time and survival and natural selection. Truly legendary.
My most favorites are 1. The Catachan, 2. The Mordian Iron Guard, 3. The Vostroyans, 4. The Death Corp of Krieg, and, despite retcons, despite soooo many changes and an ignominious doom for their race and their world, my favorite guard regiment of Abhumans is still....THE SQUATS!
