It'd be great if you included some clips of your palette so we can see how you mix colors, how much you mix of every color, how you organize them on the palette etc.
Since I’ve started painting, I’ve always had a photorealistic style, because people seemed to enjoy it the most. Your videos actually inspired me to stop doing what pleases other people and incorporate a more free style, different textures and colors. Now my paintings bring even more joy to my clients and other people. Thank you so much!
i like photo realistic style , and work in same style just because it amazes how few colours can make a thing that i see, of course art is diverse and photo realistic style is a small part of it but no one can ignore that its the most important one because it's what visual art started because of, one can argue normal singing/music is not interesting and they like opera or beatboxing etc but natural/normally singing cannot be stated inferior
Is o.k. to go out and do your own style.....but remember that it is the customer you intend to sell the painting to that has the last say.....Sure...there are different people that like different styles. Don't paint what people want unless is a commission work. You can't always please everybody.
Ok, I don’t know how you do it, but you just inspired me so much! I haven’t really tried realism, inanimate objects here and there, eyes on my math homework, and one lip drawing that I’m very proud of, but other than that, nothing. I also haven’t used oil paints ever, but your videos make me wanna try them! Thanks so much for the inspiration!
As someone who really struggles with trying to imitate reality perfectly and gives up easily, your advice about freeing ourselves from expectations and not copying things as they are was really inspiring, thank you very much ;-; Ps. The music went soo well with the video, good choice!
Mr. Efe, you are now my favorite artist!!🥰 Theres something about your style that's real and abstract and effortless all in one. I love your technique for skin tone. I love that you don't tone the canvas first. I want to paint just like you..
I absolutely LOVE your videos. They put things in perspective for me. Not just tips on the actual process. But as an artist. I'm always so hard on my self I put myself in this box and stop having fun with my passion because I am worried if anyone will like it.
Oh God same.. the amount of control that he has is amazing. I cant even do anything without a support for my hand.. my hand would shaking like crazy lol
Loved this voice over and the process of deciding if a color is cool or warm is so freaking helpful. I always get sucked into colors and making sure they match rather than the tone love this so much
Thank you so much for making this video, Its a perfect description on how to take something boring as skin tones and to transform them into interesting values of color, I hope you keep making these videos, they inspire me to brake out of that mold I put myself in and to explore a hole new color world. Thank you 🙏🏽
it really amazes me how you use so many colors for the skin...i am a portrait enthusiast and i find these tips very helpful, thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I have been struggling with color for a long time and I finally realize that I've been looking at the world like its one single layer😅 While it is in fact just warm and cool colors being blended before my eyes. Its a bit like stippling, when you put two different colored dots together and back away to see them blend. Very interesting😊
Great video--perfect combination of time lapse and commentary. I really like the way you describe your process: detailed and yet not boring, and you know exactly the right moment to stop :) Oh, and I like the final result on the canvas too! A very distinctive style.
Alpay - your work has inspired me for years! I think yours was one of the first pages I followed on instagram. So excited about our youtube channel you inspire me to make my own!
I just want to say thank you for all your painting videos. I watched quite a few and seeing how you paint made me a lot less shy with how I add different skin tones. I've already noticed improvement. You're a brilliant painter and it was great to learn something from you. 😁
Yes!! Thank you for the tips and also agreeing with realistic being boring. For practice and form purposes to develop skills yes. But drawing or painting something to look as realistic as possible is boring. Style and creativity :)
i love the ideals and philosophy u have about painting and art in general, they really stood out to me! i was paying more attention to ur words than the actual time lapse and u were already finished with the painting 😂😂
I put the first like on here! Thank you so much for these videos, people like me who really want to master portraits need people like you to give us tips. I love your perspective, and how you encourage artists to be free with what they want to do, instead of being bogged down by people's negative opinions.
I look forward to these , another dose of art philosophy And design instruction of a rather free nature that I am very much partial to. Very helpful to me as I become a better colorist.
Amazing art and great words of inspiration! Thank you! It came so timely for me, as yesterday I painted something and tried to make it as close to reality as possible, and failed. Everything went wrong on my painting because I had too much expectations! I was so much upset that I even cried a bit. Now I'm inspired and trusting myself and respecting my own vision. Much love to you! 💗
How long have you been on oil painting? and what’s your best tips from your own experience to the beginner of oil painting? Also I really enjoy your painting it’s so beautiful 😊
Amazing. I love your style. I wish you would occasionally paint a realistic background though. The effect is great but it is also a bit of a time saver, I feel. Kudos and thanks for the tips.
Dragan Ostojić lol I love how he liked the comment but didn’t answer the question😂 If I had to guess, I would say he leaves them for an interesting effect.
This is your best video yet Alpay! So much good information packed into 10 minutes and so much inspiration for me to loosen up and try something new! Thank you!
Thank you so much for these videos!! I am so inspired and you have helped me to stop analyzing my process so much and just be free of expectations in my paintings. This has enabled me to really shine in my artistic emotion and for that, I am truly grateful!
I’m so glad I stumbled upon your TH-cam! I’ve been following you on Instagram and your style and brush work is exactly what I love to see in oil paintings! Can’t wait to learn more from you!
You've spoken about always doing what is right for the painting, even if that means doing it over 10 times. How do you work around the frustration that arises?
You are a phenomenal artist. I would really like to take a figure painting class. I have never painted a person before because I’m scared! Watching you paint her is helpful though. So, I would not have thought of just doing the darkest part first, even though that is generally the way you paint other things.... fascinating. I love the way you do skin. I think I want to try painting a person this year. I’ll keep watching and learning first. Thank you ☺️
Awesome insight and perspective! Not to mention the skill! I'm diving into my first oil portrait and I've found you very motivational. Just wanted to say thanks!
Amazing work! it help me a lot, a very informative demonstration of your work. thanks for sharing you videos, i do paintings too, but i stopped for about 2 decades, so, now i have to start all over again.
Exceptionally awesome job.. And very well said.. My father used to paint portraits using multiple poster colours.. And it always looks better than any original photograph
Thank you for saying how you get the sketch! Ive always wanted to paint portraits but having to master drawing of faces was always so scary when also haveing to paint it realistically. It shows that you can be an amazing artist without doing the sketch yourself. I always used to feel like I was "cheating" in my paintings when I used charcoal transfer but this really helped! Im going to try my first portrait cuz of this!.
Some thoughts on painting faces and skin tones... and Super Mario...
Do you paint by looking at images or do you paint them with your insights?
👍
Just wondering about your carbon copy: can I ask you how you transfer the outline in carbon onto your painting board? thanks
Did you say you did a painting of a Giant Condom ? Lol 😂
GUNDAM 😄
Could you pls include the link to cobalt turquoise paint i cant find it anywhere. Thanks
It'd be great if you included some clips of your palette so we can see how you mix colors, how much you mix of every color, how you organize them on the palette etc.
Agreed!
Yes!!!!
True
seeing the pallete in the thumbnail was the reason i watched, was disappointed it was not in the actual video
Agree
Since I’ve started painting, I’ve always had a photorealistic style, because people seemed to enjoy it the most.
Your videos actually inspired me to stop doing what pleases other people and incorporate a more free style, different textures and colors. Now my paintings bring even more joy to my clients and other people.
Thank you so much!
people like photorealistic style because people dont want to think and see new ways to visualize the world. something lazy for the brain.
many start off being realistic and then becoming more free over time. so your foundation is solid. congrats!!!
i like photo realistic style , and work in same style just because it amazes how few colours can make a thing that i see, of course art is diverse and photo realistic style is a small part of it but no one can ignore that its the most important one because it's what visual art started because of, one can argue normal singing/music is not interesting and they like opera or beatboxing etc but natural/normally singing cannot be stated inferior
Same!!!

Ps. The music went soo well with the video, good choice!
RandomAlienFromMars 0 very sound advice for sure. You really need to let go and have faith, never stop practicing, and always challenge yourself.
Never give up!! Just paint YOU. 🙌🏽
I like how pop-py yet classy it is.
The cool background contrasted well with the warmness of flesh.
Mr. Efe, you are now my favorite artist!!🥰 Theres something about your style that's real and abstract and effortless all in one. I love your technique for skin tone. I love that you don't tone the canvas first. I want to paint just like you..
I think I'm beginning to fall for your art.
“ *A really huge picture of a CoNdOm* ” 7:06 that’s what I heard
Lulu Fox gundam TT
I heard the same thing but with "giant condom" 😅
Looool frrr though true
wait what else is it supposed to mean?
I think he said Gundam
Pure perfection.. Every stroke, color had a place that all made sense.
I absolutely LOVE your videos. They put things in perspective for me. Not just tips on the actual process. But as an artist. I'm always so hard on my self
I put myself in this box and stop having fun with my passion because I am worried if anyone will like it.
“And yeah... have a good one” the cutest outro ever! Great video Alpay🙏
Can't tell you how much I love this channel. Your voice is so soothing and great to hear in the background while I keep doing my own work. Keep it up!
Yet the most realistic areas of this painting, the eyes, are what make it so amazing when next to a more abstract area
I thoroughly enjoy watching you paint and listening to your narratives, which always add an extra layer to your paintings. Thank you.
The way you hold ur brushes gives me anxiety
Thats generally the way one is taught to hold the brush in class
Cause it’s painting and not drawing
This comment cracked me up, thanks
You gotta see what ur doing right?
Oh God same.. the amount of control that he has is amazing. I cant even do anything without a support for my hand.. my hand would shaking like crazy lol
It amazes me every time. He does it so effortlessly
Loved this voice over and the process of deciding if a color is cool or warm is so freaking helpful. I always get sucked into colors and making sure they match rather than the tone love this so much
Yet again, another masterpiece! Absolutely stunning! 😍🖤

You're my favorite youtube painter. Thank you for your education, your inspirational hard work and style.
This is very good, I never thought to think whether areas of the skin are cold or warm, thank you for the advice
Was just about to start a new painting, best timing to get some tips :)
Amazing artwork, outstanding comprehension of the colour theory, incredible anatomy accumulated experience.. well done
Such a beautiful piece! And your commentary is insightful and melodic. Keep up the awesome work man!

Your paintings are fabulous and your explaining makes it more easier
Amazing art and great words of inspiration! Thank you! It came so timely for me, as yesterday I painted something and tried to make it as close to reality as possible, and failed. Beautiful, exciting, thrilling to hear and watch. Bravo!

Amazing. I love your style. I wish you would occasionally paint a realistic background though. The effect is great but it is also a bit of a time saver, I feel. Kudos and thanks for the tips.
Do you leave blotches of background color that end up on face or hair etc stay for an interesting effect or you paint them over in the final painting?
Dragan Ostojić lol I love how he liked the comment but didn’t answer the question😂 If I had to guess, I would say he leaves them for an interesting effect.
thats my question too, either it destroys pure beauty or enhance it even more i am confused 😕
Maube he wants the effect as if she was fading into the background so the focal point will be entirely on the eyes and rest of the face.
I think it appears artificial, just there for affect.
I was wondering the same thing... I'm not too fond of it...:/ But the painting is too beautiful
the advice in this video has really impacted and stuck with me
Your voice over work is as good as your painting! love watching your videos, thanks for sharing.
This is your best video yet Alpay! So much good information packed into 10 minutes and so much inspiration for me to loosen up and try something new! Thank you!
Thanks so much for the feedback and the support 🖤
I love your videos way too much! but this one by far has been my favorite! Greetings from Mexico :)

This is one of my favorite pavorite paintings of yours
Since I been watching u paint.......my style has change....love your work
Thank you so much for these videos!! I am so inspired and you have helped me to stop analyzing my process so much and just be free of expectations in my paintings. This has enabled me to really shine in my artistic emotion and for that, I am truly grateful!

Mark Thompson fixed 😂😂
P ok po9pp😂
You are tremendously underrated! !! Love your tutorial
You've spoken about always doing what is right for the painting, even if that means doing it over 10 times. How do you work around the frustration that arises?
Looks like we are watching a paint brush painting on its own. The face is mesmerizing
What's your favorite old master and why???
Mine is Da Vinci, your art is amazing 💟
I greatly appreciate the advice you gave in this video and the rest of this series.
Again, very nice greens in the skin tones. Most inexperienced young artists do not have the courage for your handling of color.
Oh man, those eyes! Beautiful painting, man; well done
I agree. Wise words. As i like to say, we have photography for realistic pic, and paint for artistics ways of 'photo'
It's so soothing to watch you paint
You are a phenomenal artist. I would really like to take a figure painting class. I have never painted a person before because I’m scared! Watching you paint her is helpful though. did you choose cobalt turquoise as the background because it's kind of complementary to the pinker and warmer hues of the face?
Stunning!!! Love it!!!🥰
thank you...so glad i subscribed. best inspiring art video out there...and engaging artist.
blessings
How wonderful!!!!! Its so real!!! I feel she is looking to me!!
Awesome painting 😮😮😮
Awesome insight and perspective! Not to mention the skill! I'm diving into my first oil portrait and I've found you very motivational. Just wanted to say thanks!
I love your explanation with the video. That makes so much sense to me!💙
Woow you’re so good!🤯🤩, thanks for amazing video!!!
Really lovely portrait. Great work, thanks!
Great video, last 2 minutes was brilliant. Super Mario made me laugh out loud.
Thanks for the tips. I haven't worked with oil before but now I want to try.

Im artist too..i love your paint brush and oil paint.
Great master
I think that a good artist/youtuber is who inspires you to make something and you nailed it
U got a new sub :)
She’s gorgeous absolutely beautiful ❤
Is Safflower oil used to alter the properties of oil paint as well as clean your brushes?
The super mario part kept me woke
Thank you kind sir.

fantastic control with that brush !
