Here is how I successfully programed my 2015 BMW X3 with the overhead door GT3 remote: NOTE A) The GT3 remote has two modes, green and red. To switch between green mode and red mode, press the remote button for 10 seconds, press again to change the mode, and then press one more time to finish. NOTE B) To clear all the buttons on the mirror and be able to reprogram them, press button 1 and 3 simultaneously for 10 seconds. 1) Program the remote to have both red and green mode working on two separate buttons. 2) Long press the button you want to program on the mirror and simultaneously press the RED button on the remote until the mirror LED flashes rapidly. (If it doesn't work: Keep the remote very close, almost touching the mirror, and press the remote button multiple times until you get it to work.) 3) Put the motor in pairing mode with the purple LED flashing (by long pressing the pairing button on the motor). 4) Press the remote GREEN button once. 5) Press the mirror button twice for 2 seconds. That's it! I almost lost my mind in the process but it now works. I will never buy another overhead door product in my life. The same process with a Chamberlain opener takes only 5 seconds and is super easy. OHD is very poorly engineered.
That is really involved. How about this, hold down whichever button you want to use to open the garage in the van, hold down the button to open the garage door. voila, it just works.
This video didn't work for me. I had to change my Genie / Overhead Door Silent Max 4040L to "Program" by grabbing a ladder and pressing the mode button until which was #3, according to the manual, then run to the car and hit the button 3x for it to sync. My remote control did nothing for me. But sharing here in case it helps someone else!
