mich verwundert das eher. Selbst beim Heer in Österreich kommuniziert man in Englisch?
Immerhin, besser als das Denglisch, was ich mir jeden Tag anhören muss...
i was rather confused of the english slides. In the meantime i realized, there is an english spoken version of the clip.
In my job, everybody communicates in a german-english mixture. English vocabulary is mainly used so give a professional appereance, and to hide lack of content. Simply awful, i hate it.

The presentation made by the Austrians is literally a University class. The material, presentation and methodology is giving a class to the rest of the world on how wars should be documented and archived.
The format is flawless. Everything is in exhaustive detail. In these 12 minutes you collected and provided precise information more accurate than many other sources.
The level of intelligence is high. This is exactly what allies does. They support each other and they throw in the harshest critique to the allied forces. Only this way we stop committing mistakes. This is a luxury that DEMOCRACY has.

And these heavy weapons are trickling in, rather than flooding in. So it may take considerable time-perhaps months, to accumulate sufficient, well equipped forces for operational level counter-attacks, and Ukraine might not have that long, although they are conducting a superb defence so far.
Besides, without air superiority, dense masses of equipment could be subject to considerable attrition from the air.

Latest numbers (17 June 2022) about the losses of the Ukrainian armed forces according to the MoD of Russia, take it as you will:
    - 205 airplanes
    - 131 helicopters
    - 1,233 unmanned aerial vehicles
    - 342 anti-aircraft systems
    - 3,587 tanks and other armoured combat vehicles
    - 539 multiple launch rocket systems
    - 2,013 field artillery and mortars
    - 3,658 other military ground vehicles
Even if only half of these were true (I guess most of them are) the western supplies Ukraine has received so far are not making any real difference in the grand picture. But of course those deliveries will have to be replaced eventually, and that will make some people very... $atisfied.

As for the types of modern ammunition, the Krasnopol projectile (laser-guided reactive ammunition for a 152 mm cannon), which was shown even on British channels, was shown 40 times on the video of howitzers of the Russian Federation leaked by the crews themselves. They showed firing anti-radar missiles, TV-guided missiles (and also on British channels), they showed the work of Onyx-M, dozens of calibers arrive at the target every day (frames from local residents of Ukraine, which they send to their Ukrainian channels in a telegram). The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation showed footage 5 times of firing 9M542 tornado projectiles at targets and their destruction.

Around 120 pieces of the T-72M/M1 tanks were transferred to Ukraine. These are not yet on the front line since Ukrainians fit it with their own MGs and ERA array.
2S1 Gvozdika SPGs sent in a number of 20+.
      BM-21 20+ as well.
BWP-1s from Poland are already in use in Ukraine - 40 pieces.
18 pieces of KRAB artillery, a modern 155mm SPG that can shoot 4-5 rounds in fast reload mode, so the shells get into the target in the same exact second. At that time, the KRAB is already changing its fire position. Further 50x will show in Ukraine very soon.

One slide was in Russian, which is a language that is also used extensively in Ukraine, including by millions of people opposed to the Russian invasion, and many who are actively fighting for Ukraine. The only way around a slow and hugely costly defeat (in terms of human lives lost) is for NATO to supply the levels requested by Ukraine, but they won’t because (a) they don’t want to risk the possible consequences of such massive escalation, and (b) frankly NATO weapons stockpiles (especially of artillery ammunition) are simply too low, and countries would diminish their own defensive capabilities too much.

    • @orlock20
      @orlock20 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Another problem is the logistical tail. People have to be trained to supply and repair gear. Russia's logistical tail is so short that Russians have had to abandon gear that broke down for a variety of reasons. The U.S. has stopped using its tanks so M1A2 tanks plus older M60 tanks could be sent to Ukraine, but then hundreds of Ukrainians would have to be trained to use and repair the tanks while yet another logistical line has to be sent to arm and refuel the beasts.

Today, the commander of the logistics of the ground forces of Ukraine, Volodymyr Karpenko, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost 50% of heavy weapons ..... I think that in reality the losses are more than 70%. Kyiv officially acknowledged the loss of 2,500 heavy weapons. This means that Western assistance with weapons is very small, and will not help Ukraine.

Russia is in bad shape too and has been forced to use civilian vehicles to move men and supplies around. These vehicles aren't powerful enough to move artillery. Most of Russian's aircraft are paperweights in hangers. Once those trains are targeted, Russia's supplies will ground to a halt.

Especially piecemeal use of new eqiupment is important, although it's hard to discuss "piecemeal vs. strategic reserve", when whole delivery is 7 or 12 guns. There ARE categories though, where deliveries were significant - i.e. Poland and Czech tanks (250+ total) or incoming Krab delivery (with the ones delivered, it's over 60 modern long range, very mobile artillery), so I'm curious, what will be the use of those.

most news ive seen in the past few weeks has been optomistic about the ukraine, but now i'm not so sure. IF russaian forces were so poor in terms of equiptment, supplies and training as i had been led to believe (due to systemic corrpution, poor maintance, and other factors) then i dont see how they'd have been able to hold on this long, much less make further gains no matter how slowly. i would really like this matter cleared up, if that was possible.

The news are optimistic for Ukraine since they are still resisting. That is a miracle in itself. The Russian army is plagued by corruption, incompetence and poor equipment. However, it's still a far larger and stronger force. If they were competent and professional they would have taken over the Donbas months ago. They are still slowly advancing by virtue of being such a powerful force and literally leveling whole cities with artillery and bombing. The positive news doesn't mean Ukraine's winning but rather that they are not getting crushed. And that in itself is a win. Every day that they are resisting is a win.

@@davidtal523 well it's not really about good or bad side but rather david vs goliath. It's like in the Finnish-Soviet war. The Finns won lots of victories and kept the Soviets back for a lot longer than anyone expected but they were never going to defeat the USSR. Same with Ukraine. They held back the Russians a lot more than anyone would have ever dreamed and even managed to push them back from their capital. Hence the optimistic news. But I don't think anyone expects Ukraine to actually defeat the Russian army.
