I wouldn't recommend the Acer predator Helios neo 16 in Europe cause unfortunately it's not a budget laptop in here. It's more than a 1000 euros. In fact it's closer to 1300 bucks in here. So you would be better spending that money somewhere else

I have the 1600p 165hz variant. I almost always use it in balanced mode and it's very quiet, way less than the noise an AC or Fan would make. I personally don't use the speakers on the laptop but they're not that great if compared to the Hp Omen 16 that has Samsung speakers. The battery life in my experience wasn't that good, but that's to be expected from a laptop of this high performance, overall this laptop is perfect at this price range there's no point in spending for more on a laptop. If there's anything specific you want to ask then go ahead and ask bro.

This laptop is perfect from every aspect to me, apart from the design which might make you feel weird when bringing them into college or office. The display especially is the best for this segment, it even competes or outdoes displays that cost 2+ lakhs. Keyboard , trackpad, build quality of hinges and the whole body, everything is top tier. The only thing missing is some good speakers but I don't use laptop speakers since i use IEMs always. I have used the laptop for 10-12 hours on some days as well and it runs very smoothly, no overheating or lags caused in Black Myth Wukong. If there's anything specific you want to ask then go ahead.
I had my Lenovo legion slim 5 14" for $1100 ish with tax if you can spend 100$ I highly recommend this laptop as it has better screen and better battery life than all these laptops. Always look for the sale!
I have the TUF dash f15 with i7-12650 and RTX 3070 (80 watt), when i bought it was nice and silent and had decent battery life for gaming laptop. Over time the fans started to get loud and get some serious ratteling and strong vibration, the trackpad also started to feel very stiff. I had to open it and clean it multiple times to get to decently quiet again. I also found something wrong in performance mode, my second SSD started to cook itself when ever i put performance mode on. The loading where atorious, upon further investigation I found the SSDs temp would reach in the 90s even at idle. Not sure what the issue is but in regular mode the temperature where reasonable, this happened only my secondary SSD. Also installing ubuntu as a secondary OS was also a nightmare I think this gaming laptop gave me more issues than any previous laptops that i owned, luckily i am tech savvy enough to work around these issues, but i am hesitant to recommend asus TUF to anyone.
what do you expect from a "gaming laptop" $300+ less than $1000. HP Victus has 8GB RAM, Ryzen 5/Core i5, and RTX 3050 for $999.99 and I doubt there are any other budget entry-level gaming laptops on that level for less than $900 (except for Lenovo LOQ).
Sadly for gaming laptops it is. Don't go with a 500 dollar 4 year old mess. I recommend a non gaming laptop that is actually nice for like 700, get an egpu later and put that egpu in a PC even after that
I dont squat about gaming laptops I had to watch a youtube on understanding laptop gpus and geaphics then I used chatGPT to help narrow down of aspects to boil it down to MSI's 14 but something said look again and I found this video omg I almost bought the MSI cyborg 14! I am dissappinted that you didnt test the same configuration to isolate the inpacts of design. Some notes The victus 15 has 6 year old pannel selection which includes a 250nit 60hz with terrible colors. Be careful with it in particular. There is no performance gains past 100w with these gpus and the loq also has the mux switch and advanced optimus unlike the others. It will probably look the best with lower framerstes on the native screen. Overall the best thing to do is to look at the sales on 2023 laptops. I am also thinking of getting a non gaming laptop for the price and turning down the settings, getting an egpu later
@@JamesHaddow-h5p haven't heard of that before. It seems too chunky (and likely heavy) for my tastes. That should benefit cooling though, so it should push its components pretty high. The battery looks small as well. Btw, the slim7 turned out to be sold with a bad screen. If you really want to push performance and don't care about portability you can get a minipc with some powerful parts and plug in just the kind of keyboard and monitor you like. Get a cheap non gaming laptop for everything else
As I have been using Asus A17 for 3 years, only thing I complain is portability. Because gaming laptops have horrible battery, you need to carry the charger too. So mine is around 4kg

Acer *gaming* laptops are very good, nice to see them destroying the other brands that had a lot of experience in this category ! the reason for this is that acer makes nice profit and supplies super good machines for the value while the other brands are making astronomic profit and supply just good machines, nothing to get super excited about. Acer laptops, in general, have good laptops for the value compared to other brands. The problem is a lot of people consider them as not good enough quality laptops a lot of time because them aren't paying enough attention to promoting their products and improving their good name, and as we can all see, they have good reasons and they deserve it!
I think the reason why no one pay attention to Acer is not because they doesn’t do much marketing but for the fact that they don’t offer much in premium options. Most of their laptops are budget ballet and they don’t have any lineup that can compete in premium category with lenovo and asus. So the brand recognition isn’t as good as those big players in the industry. People don’t recognize acer as a premium brand but as a cheap, budget alternative.

This was an excellent review!!! I really appreciate rating the obnoxiously loud "Gaming" styling, and those awful gamer fonts they use on the keyboard. The Neo is definitely a good middle ground. I'm a big gamer & game dev, but having a clean classy styling is actually more important to me than performance.

Sadly very few options. Most 14 inch laptops have amd in them, you can get a 2023 model on sale. Otherwise you could also go for an egpu-non gaming laptop setup

I used to have an acer predator helios RTX 2060 laptop that had massive thermal throttling issues, within 30min of gaming it used to heat up and frames dropped in half, even replaced unit had same issue and company refunded my money, I would never recommend acer for gaming, go with ASUS or MSI.

Your fortnite stuttered because you set it to unlimited. It's not a crazy desktop that is capable of hitting unlimited frames. If you can it at the screens refresh the stuttering goes away.

If you live in the US I often see the Legion 2022 or Legion Pro 2023 on sale. Just last month I saw a 4060 Legion on sale for ~$900.

Its not that heavy. Just think of it as a weighted vest workout. It’s light for me. Go to the gym and you will feel like it’s basically nothing

The recommended neo 16 is hardly ever on sale, I look almost weekly and I've only seen it under 1000$ 3-4 times in the whole year

I only wanna play sims, Minecraft, Detroit human, some resident evil, Roblox, and small indie games like stray and etc…I don’t have an issue with buying external things like hard drives etc to make the performance better since Detroit human and resident evil are a lot of power. If I recall hearing it right, AMD is terrible for gaming and intel is popping way off now.
Sadly very few options. Most 14 inch laptops have amd in them, you can get a 2023 model on sale. Otherwise you could also go for an egpu-non gaming laptop setup

I used to have an acer predator helios RTX 2060 laptop that had massive thermal throttling issues, within 30min of gaming it used to heat up and frames dropped in half, even replaced unit had same issue and company refunded my money, I would never recommend acer for gaming, go with ASUS or MSI.

Your fortnite stuttered because you set it to unlimited. It's not a crazy desktop that is capable of hitting unlimited frames. If you can it at the screens refresh the stuttering goes away.
