I was also a member and a relation on paper work to Steve. Just found his work and also read the book,"The Sins of Brother Curtis," which involved church members I knew. This and also the Oregon Adoptee Rights Initiative, Measure 58, which the LDS lawyer, Hunsaker fought against and lost, was my exit out of the cult. I have done a Y DNA test and found my real surname, against what the church at the time tells you not to do. And don't me started on the Mountain Meadows Massacre.
I have lived in AZ off & on for 60 years. I have followed Mr. Benson from his early days in the AZ Republic. I have never been religious, but a change in my social viewpoints actually coincided with Mr. Benson's transformation. I have gone from right wing to left of center in that time and Mr. Benson and I walked that path together. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Benson once a few years ago at a Halloween party for autistic children. He was doing caricatures for free. Can you imagine, a Pulitzer prize winner doing caricatures for free. This is a good man, he walks the walk.
I'm a recently out atheist ex-Mormon... I'd heard of Steve but didn't know much about him other than his relation to ETB and his disaffection from the church. Contrary to what I had been led to believe about ex-Mormons in general, he's a delightful person. I enjoyed this interview very much. And I'm happy to be a member of the FFRF and support their cause.
Great cartoons! Love the interview. My husband and I, who are on Social Security, joined yesterday at the bargain rate. I felt we need to support what you do year round!
I am always impressed when someone, who is so eloquent and witty in illustration and writing, proves to be equally eloquent and witty in spoken word. Such a pleasure to listen to Mr. Benson! Thank you for the interview! Also, completely irrelevant, but am I the only one who is dumbfounded by how youthful these three people look? I just can't believe that Annie Laurie Gaylor is 63... she looks at least 2 decades younger. Also, Dan Barker 70? Steve Benson 65? Maybe it is just my Eastern European eyes (we tend to age faster over here:), but these people look so much younger than their age. Freedom from religion might not only benefit the mind but the body as well. :)
Thanks, what a great thought evoking program. We should always question ourselves. Free thought and critical thinking should always be allowed in a truly free society. Happy All Hallows Eve.A more fun mythical holiday.
Wow! Just discovering this. Well deserved Pulitzer!

Great interview.
Love the cartoons. So accurate and succinct!
Loved this episode. Am a huge fan of Steve Benson. Was honored to meet him years ago. His cartoons are always so on-point.
Excellent interview, filled with creative and rational ideas.

Another awesome video! I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween. I've never heard of Steve Benson.

Steve is a great guy !
Funny that he is related to President William Taft and Governor Bob Taft of Ohio both are Republicans and Steve is a huge liberal.
Ezra Taft Benson (Steve’s grandfather) was a major far rightist as well. Steve is the black sheep of his family
