Im a big fan of strapping my helmet on. It could make the difference I'm walking away or being a Tomato the rest of their life. But hey to each his own
Not sayin you SHOULD do it but leaving your helmet unstrapped in a offroad hillclimb enviroment can make sense. Not that uncommon that helmets got stuck while drivers went down the hill ending up with broken necks. It´s a matter of believe really.
So my dad was in CAMC (Charleston Area Medical Center) back in 2008 following an accident at our home. We were there with him for 49 days, 35 in ICU. During our five weeks in the ICU I was amazed at the number of ATV accident victims that were admitted. A nurse told me "Yeah, you only see in the paper about the ones that get killed, you don't ever hear about all the ones that get permanently maimed, brain damage, broken bones etc. Weekends are the worst". She also said one of the ortho doctors said "As long as there are trampolines and ATVs, then I've got a job". Those five weeks pretty much convinced me to never get on one of these vehicles. (btw, dad did recover and made it home).
Well, you’re missing out. Just because some people aren’t responsible shouldn’t dictate what you do in your life. I’ve been riding dirt bikes and ATVs for 40 years; some of the best times I’ve ever had are riding off-road with my father from elementary school until my late 30s. Wouldn’t trade those moments for anything.
Do you drive or ride in a vehicle places, or walk, or eat food from a grocery store, or that you've grown? Anything can and will kill you, the question is when and how? 🤔
@@raoulduke3770 We're doing the same thing with our boys. I've been riding over 35 yrs. My wife started 3 yrs ago and our boys 12 & 9 both started when they were 4 yrs old. This is the issue with quads, they seem to wanna (follow) you when you go down. Seen more people get hury from them getting crushed then the actual accident. I will stay with dirt bikes
Statistically many more people suffer severe injuries and hospital visits on dirt bikes than ATVs. Atv's are very stable and people who roll them simply are either being stupid or doing what it isn't designed to do.
@@bigamigo4863 I feel like there's a grey area in the statistics because dirt bikes are just harder to learn how to ride and your gonna go down way more times then a quad in the beginning . @@zeuscasey It's just boils down to simple physics, 4 wheels on a wider base are more stable than 2. If you use a 4 wheeler for what they are designed to do they are very stable and easy to ride. Either one of them is dangerous but by default dirt bikes are meant to go faster and are literally engineered to be jumped ....that in itself is inherently more dangerous. The stats are simple, when riding dirt bikes (how they are intended) and riding quads (how they are intended) quads are without question safer. @@bigamigo4863total crock of crap.
